Yes you can keep your cellphone in US Navy Bootcamp 2024. But they used to give you Ipads and tablets.

My son is there now. He's not able to get a halfway decent workout or run or do calisthenics (so he and his SWCC buddy have to sneak to the bathroom to do pushups and get a tiny workout) and just wasteing time before he goes to BUDS. He was told by his RDC that the SEAL warrior program was cancelled for his division. He said his division is very sloppy and none of the recruits can manage to listen and the RDCs aren't staying on the slackers. What a shame. What a waste of 2.5 months.

Graduate from bootcamp a couple weeks ago, we did in fact get to use our phones to call home, we weren't allowed to text just make calls and if we had too we could check our banks or handle our money etc. but of course you had recruits taking pictures and videos and some even posted them to the net. recruits will be recruits lol. ill also add that I could not stop thinking about your "space cadet" video during uniform inspections

I remember back in 2016, I saw some divisions in Ship 3 with iPads back then as well. I also remember my RDCs all said the divisions with iPads were performing worse than the regular divisions.
As far as this initiative goes, I think it's an okay idea. Like the social media bit is fine, if the devices are properly kept away from the recruits except during their phone call times. Like you said, it's like when we're pulling into port, EVERYONE goes out to the cats and tries to get signal, despite them telling us to specifically not go outside or in the hangar bays.
But the biggest factor to me is keeping these devices safe from RDCs with bad intentions. If those iPads vanished, what's stopping recruits' phones from growing legs and running away? Letting the recruits keep them on their person isn't a solution, unless you somehow block all cellphone signal in all of RTC to include staff and RDCs. I dunno, I'm rambling.
Recruits having their cellphones is nice, and the ability to let all the recruits call home is just as nice, but the matter of trust and control is a big issue, since I would want RTC to be the strictest part of a service member's career, since they have to completely change their way of thinking in high-stress situations.

I was part of that division and we all paid for his mistake he paid harshly as well, if you are going to bootcamp don’t screw around like he did. Don’t know if I can say any details so I won’t.

i graduated in may the rdc dont give a flying fuck if your stupid you get caught you get beat you dont fuck around anymore it was nice yes we all check snapchat looked at pictures of family but nothing to stupid but boy did we behave the week or two before phone calls they would hold it over us so we behaved and performed good

The cell phones are ok as long as they are strictly monitored. If they have to go all the way to the NEX to use them, then that's fine. If they ever enter the compartments, then you've got a serious problem.

I ship out in august and this is one thing that worries me.
I got a broken family, I love my family but they don’t love each other…
Do you think they’d allow us multiple calls or only one?

I humbly suggest to start getting used to less communication from family. As you may already know, communication to the outside world while on a ship is sporadic at best.

you'll get limited amount of time to make calls, even with the pay phones you get a certain amount of time and you can make as many calls as you want before time is up. For me it was like 40ish mins
