Good luck to all of the new recruits heading to Navy boot camp. I had went to Navy boot camp back in 2000 that was 24 years ago. I was in the Navy from 2000-2008 as a CS3 SW/AW. HAVE FUN MY YOUNG NEW NAVY RECRUITS AND SAILORS.
You can keep your personal running shoes… your still issued Go Fasters, but using your own is much better 👍
I’m at the hotel I leave for meps tomorrow morning then bootcamp and it’s my birthday july 13th 🤦🏾♂️
happy early birthday
In my division we weren't allow to use the Pedialyte/Electrolyte powder until after the red lights came on. Our 3rd RDC didn't care but if our 1st RDC saw it in our hydration tool. One of two things would happen. Usually, we would get the blue card for disobeying a direct order. If he was in a good mood [which was rare] he would just ask us to pour it. I never bought those things at the bootcamp NEX, because they were really expensive. Around $9.99 for a pack of 6. My advice is to just drink the blue Powerade in the galley. It's free!
Went to boot RTC/NTC San Diego back in april-june 1984 , That first night was something else , About 2 hours after you get to sleep you"ll find out what a Navy trash can alarm clock is good times thou loved the Navy was an AO2 in a f-18 squadron !
Ah, a salty dog like myself. I can remember like it was yesterday...
RTC San Diego: graduated Mar '84 Co. 902 with BM1 Franklin
We got the same trash can alarm clock at 0300 after flying in from the East Coast around midnight
Woke us up, fed us, shaved our heads and we were still wearing civilian clothes
Spent 2 weeks in R&O before commissioning because we arrived two days after Christmas
@@larryd9549 Roger that its a land far far away now , Thanks for your service brother !
Damn I went through in 07 and it looks like they get nicer shit now. For example we didn't get new water bottles we got used canteens that I swear my dad used in the 60s 😂
Same here! had watch belts to carry them all the time. Reeked of bleach all the time too.
I went in 94 and so much has changed since then
Hooyah shipmate! Thank you for your service!
I shipped out to boot camp almost 2 years ago in a couple weeks. I'm using that same backpack as I type this. It's a great backpack
Reliving this again is wild , it's been over a decade since but I can still remember the controlled chaos of Reception night.
I still have my shower shoes from 1997.
I leave tomorrow for basic training Hoya
Still use my boot camp backpack after a decade
I leave October 4th for U.S. navy boot camp
Went i went throught even 6 or 7 years ago, we couldnt even go to the NEX there except twice as a division
Great videos. Brings me back. One correction, blueberries are type 1.
Type 2 are desert and Type 3 are the "new" greens
3:17 man Drip Drop waa CURRENCY in basic.
12 years ago? Ah so you went in the year before I did. My day 1 was super boring lol. Nobody yelled at get off the bus surprisngly. It was slow, and boring affair overall. Hardest part was staying awake. Also I never wore the glowbelt when I was on my own but I also never double-timed too so I was little shit-bag haha. Funny enough this lard of a lady at MEPS did yell at us right before we entered. Haha.
I finally got to re-enlist. What should I expect for prior service training?
40 years ago we had a cardboard stencil
i getting shipped today
Good luck kid you will be fine just blend in with your company !
Thank you Sir
How did it go?
Do they do the drug testing the first night on arrival or is it done a couple days after arrival ?
Question, I leave July 16th on an EOD contract, I've been hearing from multiple sources and I would appreciate it if you could confirm this, but is there still the 800 Division or have they gotten rid of that and all spec war/spec ops contracted people are integrated with regular divisions, also if so, will we still do extra pt or not? Thanks.
They do not have 800 divs anymore
hey me too! See you there lol
@@kiannaasa514 you EOD?
@@askardcGraduated Sep 29th, Ship 07 Division 279 with Senior Chief Shyu, BM1 Reinstadler, and DC1 Cabarubias. Thanks for the videos, they helped a lot. Currently in THU waiting for my orders. There was an RDC there that sounded exactly like you I wanted to ask if he had a yt channel but wasn’t trying to get smoked.
I know it’s unrelated to this video what what do the strips on the lower half of the sleeve mean on dress whites and dress blues.
@jackis5581 the “hash marks” or “Service stripes” show years of service. Each hash mark / service strip represents 4-years of service 👍
it depends if it is officer or enlisted. if it is enlisted, each hash is 4 years of service. if it is an officer, it is their rank
Are they issuing dog tags now? When I went in 19 they didn’t
They are not
No, but you may get them later on after bootcamp depending on your rate. As a rule of thumb, the more combat related/chances you will be deployed with Marines. The more likelihood you will get them later on.
After the initial clothing issue, how much is left in the first paycheck?
You will get subsidized for it. You will receive an extra pay bump in the beginning that covers most of your uniforms. What is left is dependent on your paygrade and whether or not you have dependents.
@@askardc I'll be an E1. Never been in ROTC and never went to college. And I'm not married and have zero dependants.
Do the females still get their hair cut in boot camp ? Just curious
it depends, before they all had the same bob cut. But they allow them to have it in a bun during bootcamp in accordance with uniform standards
