Free advice. Volunteer to do everything when asked for. Will help you in the long run at boot camp. Don’t shy away. Be a leader. Your career will start off in the right direction. If you stand back, don’t talk, just do the yes petty officer… no petty officer, you will get passed up. Go beyond what’s expected and boot camp will fly by.
Thanks for the advice. Shipping out in a few weeks!
im an IT2 been in the navy almost 2 years now. went to boot camp nov 2021. my biggest thing is just make sure you can do your 1.5 mile run and make sure you are resilient and know how to work around an on time on the clock system. be ready to be cold sick and hot and sweaty. use those freedom hall runs to your advantage to pass that PRT. you guys got this.
Thanks
Cold sick ?
@@ImToxicGamingit’s cold at Great Lakes, and you get sick..100% the crappiest part of bootcamp is when you get sick.
@@ImToxicGaming your 100% gonna be sick, I was healthy all year round before I went to bootcamp. your gonna be sleeping with many people all over the country in one tiny room of course your gonna catch something.
NO WALKING IN FREEDOM HALL
For any new recruits going to boot camp. Absolutely learn the 11 general orders. I would prefer you learn them prior to shipping out to Great Lakes
I agree 100%
What are they my son is joining soon
Shipping out the 31st. Thank you for doing these. Gonna try my damndest to get star sailor honors
Shipping May 29th
@@mysticjonn1292 Good luck! HOOYAH NAVY
Great content .
I ship out June 12
i ship 31 as well
Me too
I honestly loved bootcamp I would do it all over again ! Had great rdcs who taught us a lot about the navy and how to be proper sailors thank you chief Moreno and petty officer frascona
Loved my RDCs too! I came from nearly homelessness. So bootcamp was easy for me too. Shocked that they would pay me to eat 3 meals a day, workout, learn cool stuff, and sleep 8 hours(unless on watch).
The hilarious and ridiculous stuff that happened there is why I miss it for the most part. Went to bootcamp in May. 1st RDC was a chief, who didn't care about anything and just gave use a disappointed look when we messed up. Outside of that, he just chilled with us and shared stories, the most laid back RDC I've ever met. 2nd RDC, HM1, was a huge jerk, but a really, REALLY funny jerk. 3rd RDC, PR1, was just flat-out psychotic, but she often excluded the people who actually did things right from beatings a lot of the time.
For anyone thinking of enlisting, try to get the Ship Staff role in boot camp. You can't be put on compartment watch, the watches are far less boring, the logs are nowhere near as complicated, and you escape SO many beatings.
I went to bootcamp in 2001 and seems like nothing change much I’m only here now because my daughter is enlisting and no matter the stories myself or her dad give. This is a great informational video for her.
For anyone who doesn't know, PoD is called Plan of Deception in the fleet because it often changes on the fly, throughout the day, even after it's posted. Also, please do not blame the YNs if the PoD changes - it's not their fault. It's usually an officer or someone higher in the CoC that will adjust something in there, or tell the YNs to remove and replace something that's already written in there. For example, there were times when our NAV (navigation officer) or WEPS (weapons officer) would one-line a training session they were supposed to conduct after the nightwork meeting because something else more important came up.
The POD is not, and will never be, concrete.
Spoken posibility of the day
Shipping out this 14th of August, thank you for doing these so I can get more information on what to expect during bootcamp. Going to try my best to be a future sailor!

@@ant2ez600thank you for the words!
I ship out on the 25th as well if you see a tall skinny white boy that’s me lol😂
I went through Navy boot camp February through April 1966. Alot of marching and drills but plenty of class room training as well. It was tough, but it definitely created a team building critticle in military service. After boot camp, it was just like any regular job.
These videos are awesome I ship the 16th of may and these have been very helpful on what to expect
I ship the 17th of May bro. Hope to see you out there
Ya man good luck
i ship the 22 of may
I ship on the 25th, good luck to us all
shipping out jan 3rd i been watching all these videos thank you!!
I graduated on July 28th, my advice is do as your told, study your sailors creed, general order, stay away from drama, remember why you are there, and never give up. Know the difference between chief and petty officer .
so many good memories of getting beat. Chief messed us up real bad one time, push-ups into arm circles into reading respect from the blue jackets arms stretched out and then all over again the night before one of the PRTs xD
Hey there. I love your content and I've been watching all of it. I just got home from MEPS yesterday. I got sworn in and I got my ship date for Boot Camp. I ship to Great Lakes June 24th 2024.
That's funny. I ship on June 27th.

Thank you for posting, my son shipped out yesterday.
Mine is today... its hard for me as a mother. Ive been crying the whole day since a day before he left. I need to be strong for him.
How is he now?
Had an RDC kicked out of our div because he was physically and verbally abusive to our females. 2009. a freakin chief too
Things have definitely changed since my I was in boot camp at Glakes in 1991. I was in Co. 915 State Flags Div. 24. I went on to serve a total of 8 years as a Hospital Corpsman 0000/8404.
I’m going in as an HM
THE FUNNIEST BRAVO ZULU WE EVER RECEIVED FROM FQA
(apologies for caps)
our watch noticed that our 4th RDC left a Banana on table number 2 and we yelled for the rover to get off since we were at attention-getting ready for something. well our watch turned around and yelled for Rover to take his place as he ran to his deck log to annotate the log with this
"Compartment Off-Spot Due to Banana on Table #2"
FQA walked in not even 5 minutes later and saw the banana and was so close to writing us a demerit chit when watch yelled
"PETTY OFFICER THE BANANA IS ACCOUNTED FOR" shit was funny as hell
Best way to win Battle E ever lol
That is honestly hilarious!
I went through Boot Camp during the Summer of 1999. Division 392. RDCs were GMC Ortez, SM1 Holliday and ABH2 McGee. Compared to what these young men and women are going through, we had it rough back in those days. And Battle Stations was a whole other thing, totally different than the new BST-21 they have now.
Good times!
Thank you for your service!
September 99 Division 484 here. I was just thinking how much more intense when we went through.
@valiantthor3704 Tell me about it. One thing I hated was having to do those old-school 8-count bodybuilders. I was gassed after doing 20 of them. And don't even get me started about those old Cold War Era barracks we had to stay in... summertime was unforgiving AF!
Appreciate it man, I ship may 25th
I’m shipping out on the 25th as well if you see a tall skinny white boy that’s probably me 😂
@@kaydenbowling3505 lol sweet, we'll probably see each other
I was in Air Force. Im surprised at the similarities Navy Boot Camp has with Air Force boot camp
0:38 I know 2001 was awhile ago, but that brought it all back. Standing watch, and stammering while trying to sound-off.
The 2 RDCs in the thumb nail were my RDCs. Chief white and chief select suitte. They would yell and cuss you out for any little thing. We weren’t the best division. We didn’t get out first flag until week 5. They pushed us and made us better than before. We ended up graduating with battle E and made them proud. I couldn’t ask for any other RDCs in the world. Without them I wouldn’t be the man I am today.
They were my RDCs also Along with petty officer lough and that picture on the thumbnail was my division. Division 157
I just saw this on RUclips too I was in your bro div 261 and I’m wondering why they are on the thumbnail but not the video lol we all love chief white
was in ship 13 and would see chief white, she does not mess around 😂
2002... Div. 279 Always Ready!!! I didn't see any hospital corners on them racks...
Believe it or not, that is my division in your picture for your I remember that ITE too, man, I didn't think I would see it on here at all. That's pretty funny I think I'm honestly thankful for the RDCs that I had they were amazing
After serving 6 years in the army as an infantryman I’m considering joining the navy, looks like fun
If you have already served, i think you would find it easy since you already have the mentality. If true, then yeah, it could be fun! i am having fun for sure
🫡 Thank you for all of the videos! Future Sailor, Lehr, shipping out May 28.
Went to bootcamp November 2002. A lot different then
Company 158 RTC San Diego Feb. 19-May 14, 1964. Company Commander MMC James A. Hanley Jr. I wouldn't trade for it.
Thank you for your service Shipmate!
RDC? Back on my day - when you had to rub two sticks together to make fire - they were CCs. Company Commander.
8:53 we did it in 2010! We beat for an hour went down to eat came back and beat for another 2 hours. They put the trash in the center of the compartment and said if you need to puke get it in the bucket. If you get it on my deck you will do sharks in the puddle.
Hooyah shipmate! Your famous!
@@askardc famous? How so? Either way thanks I guess?
oh sorry I misread your comment. i though you had stated that you were at time mark 8:53 in the video.
@@askardc oh that makes more sense! No I was responding to your statement with an anecdote from my time at RTC is all. We weren't a smart division so we were made to be a strong division!
My Air Force TI would ask "Did you shave??? With What? A credit card???"
I wish we had it this easy in 1990 .
What about the people who can’t swim but joining the us Navy?
There is a cut off. They will give you multiple chances, but at one point, you get processed out
Your drown

7:00 A RDC with a full beard, what does he tell recruits when he scrutinizes their shaving? Regardless of their reason medical or religious, doesn’t look good when your holding your recruits to a different standard.
How does that RDC have a beard?
Those new need to remember 3 things
1 be on time
2 do as your instructed
3 keep your mouth shut!
Navy hospital corpsman 1991 1995 Camp Lejeune North Carolina 2nd Marine Division combat engineer battalion. Enjoy your time it goes fast
In the fleet, I always loved the summary of mishaps. Takes of stupidly to soothe the soul! Co C 127, RTC Orlando, Jun-Aug 1992. They were called company commanders then. Things have really changed.
They have! You could almost call it a tradition of change. Thank you for your service!
are there some books you can reccomend me to read before i join boot camp maybe 5 books that can really prepare me for anything that they will try to prepare me for in boot camp, id like to try to learn as much about what happens during boot camp as possible all instructions and specific things they will end up teaching me or ill be learning when im in there. stuff that would really help me if i learned it all before joining so that they may want to help me go up a rank early because i learned so much.
You should have received a START guide. If not, there are copies online in PDF format. I also go over it in one of my videos. That and physical fitness should be all you need in preparation for Navy boot camp.
I thought it was changed to... Plan of the Week...? And I remember... "Halt, who goes there. State your porpoise, advance and be recognized". ... been a while.
There is Plan of the Day and Plan of the Week. As for "Halt, who goes there", slight changes with each iteration of the Recruit Training Manual (aka the Red Book)
Hope the new recruits get more respect when they get out than I did. Pretty much everyone cuts you down and degrades your service to make them selves feel good . Good luck and enjoy your time it’s rewarding and an adventure you won’t forget.
recruits called ITE back in the day “getting dropped”
FAST FORWARD TIL TODAY ITS CALLED GETTING BEAT😂
I'm looking at enlisting and am currently talking with my local recruiter
Red lights also don’t mess with your night vision
Facts
I’ve watched the original video at least a dozen times & never noticed the dude checking his face while the PettyOfficer is inspecting the other guy.
I was in back in the 90s, old dungaree old school divisions were way diff. It was 14 weeks total, and it wasnt a breeze. No cards, no imdividual stuff, no testings, it was a lot more physical, lot more intense. The water survial courses were intense, we shot live rounds
The compartments used to rain back on the day. I lost 25 lbs in BC
Do they still wear the canteen belts? Better have water, we used to have pour them on our heads, those who tried to sneak soda in them were sticky all day while running in formation around the grinders
Thank you for your service! They do not use original canteens anymore. They did back when I went through. But now they get Nalgeen style bottles that they keep with them. No more having your own guard belts.
My son left for Great Lakes Tuesday……. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
i leave the 5th of july, thank you
I suck at running and I've never swam before i ship out in January i will be surprised if i don't get separated
Mine was In San Diego 89 , might I say it was just a tad more challenging lol
What all vaccinations do we receive upon arrival in 2023?
couldnt say what all of them are as they differ from person to person regarding their medical history. but it should be booster shots, hay fever, etc.
I joined in 1988, went to RTC San Diego and was a red roper ‘97-2000. We marched the recruits to/from processing during PDays. Having a dedicated processing barracks is a good idea. ITE Cards? 😂
yeah they were just a list of exercises we could do. Whenever the instruction changed, we would get new cards of a different color. Thank you for your service!
Why are they holding sailors at Thu for medical ? There are over 300 sailors on hold they can't go A school
4.98 on an inspection and get a phone call mann I would’ve had phone calls constantly I had 5.0 across the board on my pi’s 😂😂
Good memories from 2006! Do they still have EPO? That was my job.
If you mean Educational Petty Officer then yes! They are in charge of study groups and assist the instructors with tests
shippin out in 10 days good luck to everyone :)
I ship out June 7th as well!
Good luck to both of you guys!
I ship out 8th
Thanks for this, I’m planning on enlisting in the near future. What is the blue thing dangling from that guys neck at 7:06? I’ve been searching desperately for information about the Navy’s boot camp, so I’d like to know. Thanks!
It looked like their dog tags maybe just the lighting made it look blue
@@codclipz8454 i thought navy sailors are no longer issued dog tags tho?
@@goreology0 🤷♂️ I’ll have to ask my recruiter
It's for a medical issue. The Navy no longer issues dog tags in boot camp. I believe they stopped issuing them in 2019.

How come chief select Barry and chief white are on the thumbnail but aren’t on the video 😭😭😭

Can you graduate early?
Question, do they still do service week in boot camp?
If you mean religious services then yes. Every Sunday
@@askardc I don’t mean religious services. I mean where the recruits go to the galley and different parts of the base to work for a week. I was ship staff during service week. A lot of my shipmates went to the galley to work.

Why don’t they look afraid when a commanding officer gets near em ?
No need to be afraid of the CO. Just be respectful
Are they still using the red card or did they change the color again
It depends. Whenever the instruction changes, they change the color of the card. It is to show that the RDC is using the most updated instruction. Workouts change, rules change, etc.
My RDCs did
I went in when we was switching from dungarees to utilities! 2 pair of dungs, and 3 util. Man I miss the dungs! No jock itch, and not trip! Them dungs even those gh was jeans helped the boobies breath!

do they hand out the government issue male tampons before or after basic in the navy? just curious, for the air force its before hand. and if you think I'm being a jerk or trying to be funny just do some research. its a thing now. and they wonder why recruiting is down so low.
I think that only happened to you
You're straight up insane

What’s a male tampon I can’t find anything on it
It's ridiculous. We are creating a military which compromises our security. And, yes, the woke is part of the reason people don't want to join.
I retired 29 years ago and the Navy went to hell when they put Women on ships, give them a ship with all women and let's see if it can make it's commitments, I was a instructor at Great Lakes RTC.
