In Danish monopoly there is lore to the "get out of jail free" card. It says on the card that "The Queen of Denmark has pardoned you on her birthday, congratulations".
Now they have to change them.
Being in jail is actually the best shit ever because you can't lose your cash if you can't move.

I played a game of monopoly once where all i wanted to do was collect the train stations and ended up owning half the board. I was just as confused as everyone else
sometimes people sleep on the train stations, but they rake in money really well, especially if you have more than one. If you have even 3 of them, you get 100 bucks when a player lands on any railroad you own

Going to jail in late-game is actually a huge blessing. You already have enough property at that point to collect money from other players, while completely avoiding having yo navigate through your opponents’ properties
I am pretty convinced the "go to jail" card is the precursor to "you're going to Brazil"

Being in Jail late game is the best thing you can do.
Tbh. If you're so close to bankruptcy, that cruel prison space or that straight to jail card might be your savior.
On the other hand! If you're finally get released. You'll be entering the dreaded NY Avenue (Orange) then loose the game anyway!

You realize that if you win you losed. And if you lose you lose. Everyone loses and it's not fun. That's what's so amazing about monopoly.

I've never seen the end of a monopoly game because either someone says "fuck it let's do something else", someone takes a shit and the vibe goes down, someone's sleepy or someone stealing shit from the banker and now everyone's pissed and off to smoke a blunt

The boys and I always played monopoly in the mental hospital. It had every piece. The sheer amount of respect for the game due to the fact that it was the only thing keeping us sane was just beautiful.
If you can, maybe donate board games or card games to hospitals that take donations! It makes a massive difference being able to do something in there.

Buy houses only. There are only 32 houses. So if you buy them all, nobody can build anything anymore. And then you win.
Also free parking prolongs the game buy bailing out people randomly.
I like it better when i get a whole lane of hotels and book it to jail for 3 turns so i dont go to the other houses and wait as i maniacally laugh at people giving me 4k per round and watch as i cause a second great depression and economic collapse caused by me as i stand in jail

Love turning the train stations into something useful where you can teleport around the board to the next station if you pay the banker (if no one owns the station)/whoever owns the station 100 dollars.
This is an certified Monopoly in a nutshell classic.
I remember winning Monopoly for the first time, it was one of those city/town specific knockoffs. I somehow went from having the least money, to absolutely bankrupting all my family. We lost a lot of pieces to the game though.
Fun fact, Free Parking actually ISNT supposed to be used that way, it’s literally just supposed to be a free space with no purpose other than being a break from the chaos.
