I’m a delivery driver in Northern California and my regular house stop used to be Mattson, the Cyberdyne building. All of their sections and conference rooms are named after characters & actors from T-2. They also have a photo album from the filming of the movie.
I snuck onto the back of that set. For whatever reason they didn't have a guard back there. We got to where the giant fans were then left. I am a huge Arnie and Terminator fan so it was the bees knees.

I lived in the valley when they were shooting T2. I used to hang out at the Northridge mall with my friends. I was able to watch them film a number of the scenes shot around the washes in the mall. My friends and I used to ride our bicycles in those concrete washes all the time. They were like our expressways from our houses all the way down to Balboa Park. I would pass by the location where they jumped the semi into the wash almost on a daily basis as I was going to and from my friends houses. An interesting detail about that particular scene is that not only did they remove the planters but they took apart the brick wall and replaced it with a fake Styrofoam brick. There were a couple of small ramps to get the truck up over the curb and then about a foot high off the ground when it crashed through the wall. After they were done the studio rebuilt the wall with real brick. Another trick they used when they were shooting the jump of the motorcycle down into the wash was suspending the motorcycle from a crane and then editing out the cables holding it up. I loved watching this because it brought back so many memories from living there and getting to watch this and other movies be made. And now I’m also craving El Pollo Loco. 😂
@@pc-sound-legacy which mall? There were at least three different malls that I can remember used for various scenes. A couple of miles did have arcades, but the ones I went to frequently were in the strip malls not the big malls like you saw in this movie.
I was born in 1983, and T2 is my favorite movie of all time. Never gets old. Shame that most of the people's houses and buildings that still stand and were in the movie probably have no clue T2 was filed on their street.

The Robinson may and parking structure located at the northridge mall collapsed during the northridge earthquake in 1994 that's why it was no longer there. The whole mall was rebuilt after. Glad to see this video back up. Great work. 👍

The nostalgia of T2 is intense. As a kid and as mentioned in this video, the scene from Sarah's nightmare of the nuclear war is something that has stuck with me. T2 is Cameron's greatest ever creation.
This movie completely encapsulates my entire existence as a kid in the summer of '91. It was THE film of the summer. You hipped me to some knowledge I hadn't heard b/f either like the fake facade for the cyberdyne building. Kudos on fighting "the power" on this one and winning. You're now in a super-exclusive club along w/ James Cameron himself who can say, "Terminator 2 damn near killed me. But it was totally worth it."
@@SPIKE0-0-0 I’ve never seen part 3 and I refuse to, but I’ve seen some of the other sequels and they’re ok. Not great and certainly not on the level of T2, but acceptable. T2 was just prefect and near impossible to match, let alone top it.
Another well done vid! My old roomate worked on T2 when they filmed the future battle scenes at Kaiser Steel mill, where surprisingly his grandfather worked as a heavy lift operator. He said during filming they had dozens of safety meetings and forbidden places that were toxic. Crazy.
You have done an EXCELLENT Research on the location of the Terminator 2 movie . I was in my teens when this movie was released . I still carry the teenage infatuation for this movie . Needless to say Terminator 2 is the movie of our TIMES .

Man this is awesome! T2 was my favorite movie of me and my best friend (RIP) who I sadly lost in 2020. Cannot count the times we watched it together as kids growing up and later as adults. He would have loved this video :) Thanks for the great work!
The reason many shots look like things in the distance are much closer than they are, is because many directors use long lenses, or focal lengths, shot from far away and then zoomed in, which compressses the scene. It’s used too for stunts when someone falls in front of a moving car or bus to make seem like the vehicle is closer than it actually is.

That was very well done. I grew up in Winnetka a few doors down from the Conner house. Filming production took over the neighborhood for about a week. Growing up in the valley was a great time for me. Things have changed but 818 is in my sole.

I worked in that building back when it was Lam Research. We called it the Terminator building and everyone was well aware of its role in the movie as most of us got to watch them add the 4th floor fascia and then watch them blow it up later. Mattson Technology was a few blocks away. Mattson has changed hands a few times since the 90s and is now owned by Chinese nationals and none of those folks were a part of Silicon Valley in its heyday so it's no surprise they've never heard of that building's legacy.
It's weird how the first half of the movie seems so inner-city, and yet from your tour I realise it's all quite surbuban and quiet. Excellent video by the way.

I remember when that movie came out, I was in the Navy stationed at 32nd Street Naval base in San Diego but i didn't get to see it till October 91 after my ship got back from Desert Storm. Oh and shout out to your buddy Joe who filmed the Cyberdine building up north, that was cool.
This was very informative. I worked at the Northridge Fashion Center from 2004-2013 and even I wasn't exactly sure where those particular scenes were filmed. I recognized Shirley street for sure but now it makes a lot more sense after watching your video.

The T-1000's truck crashes directly into this and explodes and the two overpass entrances were said to resemble the towers metaphorically. In any event, either Cameron changed this for T2, or LA changed this to list Nettleton St. For instance when John stops just before the T-1000 crashes down, the overpass behind him still says Hayvenhurst Av. as it currently does. Also, the location you couldn't find when the Terminator, John and Sarah are driving looks to be rear projection. Unless you mean where that projection footage was filmed, which could have been anything.
you can still see remnants of "caution" although its very faded, the block in the middle was used to hide explosives. Nettleton was probably added after.
My hometown! 818 represent! What surprises me is how far separated these places are. There are some miles between Winnetka and Northridge and Burbank and Lake View Terrace and Santa Monica, but they all make it look like the same neighborhood in the movie. Good job by the filmmakers.
