    I’m a delivery driver in Northern California and my regular house stop used to be Mattson, the Cyberdyne building. All of their sections and conference rooms are named after characters & actors from T-2. They also have a photo album from the filming of the movie.

    I lived in the valley when they were shooting T2. I used to hang out at the Northridge mall with my friends. I was able to watch them film a number of the scenes shot around the washes in the mall.
    My friends and I used to ride our bicycles in those concrete washes all the time. They were like our expressways from our houses all the way down to Balboa Park.
    I would pass by the location where they jumped the semi into the wash almost on a daily basis as I was going to and from my friends houses.
    An interesting detail about that particular scene is that not only did they remove the planters but they took apart the brick wall and replaced it with a fake Styrofoam brick. There were a couple of small ramps to get the truck up over the curb and then about a foot high off the ground when it crashed through the wall. After they were done the studio rebuilt the wall with real brick.
    Another trick they used when they were shooting the jump of the motorcycle down into the wash was suspending the motorcycle from a crane and then editing out the cables holding it up.
    I loved watching this because it brought back so many memories from living there and getting to watch this and other movies be made. And now I’m also craving El Pollo Loco. 😂

    The reason many shots look like things in the distance are much closer than they are, is because many directors use long lenses, or focal lengths, shot from far away and then zoomed in, which compressses the scene. It’s used too for stunts when someone falls in front of a moving car or bus to make seem like the vehicle is closer than it actually is.

    I worked in that building back when it was Lam Research. We called it the Terminator building and everyone was well aware of its role in the movie as most of us got to watch them add the 4th floor fascia and then watch them blow it up later. Mattson Technology was a few blocks away. Mattson has changed hands a few times since the 90s and is now owned by Chinese nationals and none of those folks were a part of Silicon Valley in its heyday so it's no surprise they've never heard of that building's legacy.

    Amazing video. You showed more insight into the conspiracy theory that in T2, the Nettleton overpass actually says "Caution 9' - 11". The T-1000's truck crashes directly into this and explodes and the two overpass entrances were said to resemble the towers
    metaphorically.
    In any event, either Cameron changed this for T2, or LA changed this to list Nettleton St.
    For instance when John stops just before the T-1000 crashes down, the overpass behind him still says Hayvenhurst Av. as it currently does.
    Also, the location you couldn't find when the Terminator, John and Sarah are driving looks to be rear projection. Unless you mean where that projection footage was filmed, which could have been anything.

    • @teee9384
      @teee9384 5 месяцев назад
