Great video my friend. I was employed at North Hollywood Glass and Mirror in 1984, I was 19. The house they went to was Richard Donner's Home at the time. He had finished building a glass enclosed gazebo between the house and pool and we were hired to install the glass. The journeyman, Keith and I installed most of the glass, Another guy, Chuck, took over when we installed the mirrors in the home. Imagine my surprise when I saw this movie 3 years later and got bragging rights for the gazebo's glass work. Later in my career, I was employed by L.A.U.S.D. in Maint. and Operations Glass shop and repaired many many windows at Allesandro El. in the deleted scene. That scene was supposed to be at the very beginning of the movie to introduce Riggs, but the trailer scene was used instead.
That was the late Richard Donner’s actual house with the pool that they shoot the guy into the pool. I actually think he lived there until he passed away recently. Great video, Lethal Weapon is my favorite movie and if I ever get to L.A. I’m gonna visit a couple of these locations.
OHHHHHH F*** i'm gonna Sub U , because takes me back to my Elementary & High school back in 80s till early 90s ..takes me back to those good ole days...🥰👍
Wow, always thought the hotel the girl jumps out of was the 1 off the 405 right around the sunset Blvd. Exit!..lots of detail in this video..nice work👍👍
I just happened to be watching a Lethal Weapon marathon on BBC America. Living near movie locations is one of the reasons I moved to L.A. in 1981. In 1989 I happened upon the filming of B.T.T.F 2 in my Whittier neighborhood and was the last one to leave at 2 am. What a decade for movies and music. Thanks, Great narration and location match ups . (a real treat ;-)
Interesting to note that Murtaugh lives on the same block that the Griswolds live on. The pool across the street, of course, from the 'dream sequence' in Christmas Vacation. I was lucky enough in about 1994 to get to go on the lot with a family member who worked for Warner Brothers. They were fixing up the house for shooting Lethal Weapon 4.
You outdid yourself with this one Kurt. K-town, West Hollywood, Long Beach, Burbank, Playa Del Rey etc. I know that's a whole lot of driving. I'd like to think I at least contributed to your lunch during this production. Outstanding work for a timeless 80's action thriller
As ever, expertly put together. You realise there will be lots of us Europeans referencing back to your videos to plan our days out during holidays in LA 🙂This movie is on my Christmas watch list for over the holidays. Happy Christmas to you and your family
Why did I look at my damned phone at 2a.m. ??? I just need it for a light to use the bathroom and next thing I realized here I am. Damn you and your interesting live stream and new content.
The building in West Hollywood with the jumper used to say Bekins - big sign on the roof. I was living 2 blocks away when it was filmed. It was, back until the seventies, Bekins Storage.
It’s great to see these locations now considering that Lethal Weapon will celebrate its 35 anniversary next year. It’s sad that we just lost Richard Donner earlier this year. I hear that many people who work at Warner Bros are sad that Donner is gone because he was a regular presence on the Warner lot for years. He and his wife had offices on the lot.
Excellent job! Lethal Weapon is one of my favorites! And I also live in Los Angeles! I've past by many of these places and didn't realize they were iconic spots! Well done! 👍
Brother, I love u so much! Im watching the Lethal Weapon series these days, oh, the 80,s!! And the pool in that house, I always wanted to know the location. So beautiful. You are the BEST! Editing is +++++!
The main reason I came was to find out where the Dry Lake scene near Victorville was film at. Thanks its been in a number of music videos and big budget movie production scene.
@@apphappy3796 yeah its an area popular for shooting car commercials, Land Speed racing and Trike Buggy flying. Its huge ans spread out and there is alot of nooks and crannies for day camping and photoraphy. Worth an explorative visit!
Thrifty's! Man, now that is a piece of 80's childhood right there! Probably served some of the best ice cream ever imo. Great video, Kurt. Brought back some memories. I remember seeing that movie for the first time at a drive-in along with Robocop at the Vermont.👍
Awesome video! I never knew about the deleted scenes so I definitely have to look it up. Don't forget Darlene Love also sang All Alone on Christmas from Home Alone 2. Can't go a year without listening to the song. 🔥🎄
Great vid! People talk about Die Hard, but Lethal Weapon has always been my action Christmas movie. Random fact, at 7:02 that's the Red Hot Chili Peppers frontman, Anthony Kiedis' dad. He j ust passed away this year... RIP.
I REALLY had a blast watching this GREAT video ! One of the greatest movies EVER made and you managed to "pulled back the curtain" #magnificentjob #thankyou
@@80sLife You're welcome! It was great and thank you for doing them! :) Hopefully you got the Murtagh joke of never being too old for these. Being the rare non-hearted comment makes me feel it came across jazzy lol.
Absolutely fantastic as usual, love this film and yes it's one of my fav Xmas films, An awesome 1987 classic which never gets old. You done brilliant sir. Can't wait for the next 👍
This is amazing man! Great job! Lethal Weapon 1 was the first movie I saw as far as I remember brought by my father on a video cassette. I was about 4 years old. It is one of my favourites and everytime I see it it makes me remember my parents as being very young and brings kind memories from my childhood.
It’s also used as Todd and Margo’s house from Christmas Vacation, I’m sure you didn’t show The Griswold’s house next door because it’s probably one of your next filming location videos, down the street is the Growing Pains house, Monster Squad was also filmed in that ranch.
Yes, I was saving it for a future video. The growing pains house and monster squad street is at the Warner back lot up the road. I've visited those many times
Really enjoying your videos!! Thanks for entertaining me, the winter days a long up here in Canada, got buried in snow last night, took hours to dig out lol.
Wow man that’s awesome to see how it is today these locations of one of my favourite movies.. I’ve lost count how many times I’ve watched this movie lol Thanks for this video man it’s a real blast from the past 👍
Kurt. I stumbled upon your channel by accident. I'm glad I did. I've been binge watching your filming location vids. It amazing how many different films use the same locations. I'm watching your stuff and I remember that from this movie and that movie. So cool. One major LA movie your collection is missing so far. Training Day! You keep making them, I will keep watching them.
Thank you so much! I'm really glad you're enjoying them. Lots more to come. And yes, as I make these videos, I find myself going to the same locations over and over. Haha
Excellent video. Just sub'd. On the director's cut, we don't see Riggs getting drunk and fighting a couple of muggers. I have already watched this movie several times.
That Pool House Belonged To Richard Donner I have the Blu-ray set their is a bonus feature with Donner talking to Danny And Mel next to the pool its a newer feature
The 80s was the best decade to grow up in
I've worked so many times on the Warner lot. Is so cool to see the houses and sets used in so many films.
I'm a master carpenter how hard is it to get a job on a movie lot building sets? I've always wanted to build a movie set.
This was a blast. Such a classic movie. So many memories.
Thank you!!
