I appreciate all the time and effort you put into finding these filming locations, even though half the buildings have been torn down and replaced with something else. You have an eye for small detail. You would make a great detective.
omg...all of this is in my hood. I live in wilmington and grew up in this area. My friend actually worked at the bail bonds office they used for Cherry bail bonds and the building used for beaumont's apartment and the other house are right around the corner from my current residence. I love your videos
I do my own film location searches on the weekends with my teenagers and I watch ALL these type videos and yours are honestly THE BEST! People don’t realize how hard is to find these places and then track all them down - it’s a ton of work! They usually aren’t in the same area and LA is sprawling. I’ve looked for that Elevator sign at Del Amo forever because those parking lots are huge and it’s super confusing because it doesn’t look like it used to at all. Really, really outstanding work! I’m always super impressed because you show stuff that NO ONE else shows. FYI the Dirk Diggler house is right down the street from the Jackie Brown one - who knew they were in the same cinematic universe lol.
Love this movie, one of my top 3 QT movies! It's sad to see how so much has changed or demolished. Great detective work as always! BTW, my Tiffany picture disc came in! I'll DM you a pic on IG.
@@80sLife yup! I still have the original 12" single and 45s of I Think We're Alone Now and Could've Been. This was perfect to add to the collection! Kudos to your wife for finding it for you.
I was just in the mood for a new 80’s life upload and look what showed up at the top of my suggestions! Appreciate the effort that goes into these location videos. Really enjoyed it 👍
My favorite Tarantino movie! Thanks so much for doing this! It's incredible how you were able to pinpoint the key Del Amo Mall locations despite the place being basically unrecognizable now, compared to how it used to look.
It’s always bitter sweet on your videos due to the fact the greedy contractors tear down most of the historical places in LA and filming locations. I want to also add that you are a crime scene investigator version of filming locations! You have such a good eye and you really exam the scenes/locations in the movies. Thank you for getting out there and dissecting this for us. When you get a chance can you please look in the Sunset Strip 1985? This one may be sort of interesting 🧐 🤔
Yeah, I feel the same way when I'm going out to shoot these locations. Especially when I look it up on maps and it still shows the location and then I show up and it's gone. And thank you so much!!! The CSI of location videos... what a rad compliment!! Thank you!!
One thing I appreciate about Tarantino is that he loves showcasing LA but I got to say I'm mostly bummed out the food court in the mall isn't there anymore. It was a nice touch not only in Jackie Brown but in Valley Girl where Deborah Foreman is feeding Nicolas Cage. 💔
It seriously broke my heart when they tore it out. My wife can confirm, when we went and saw it was being demolished, I yelled out NOOO!! And then when ever we would walk by that area, I would give it dirty looks. Ha.
I used to always go to the Hot dog on a stick since I was a little kid. I went in 2016 and the whole food court changed. No Hot dog on a stick, just overpriced upscale food. I hate it. Especially since Hot dog on a stick was one of their original vendors.Del AMO Mall used to have an awesome arcade it the 90's too.
@@ryangillum115 yep... Downstairs by the sam goody records and McDonald's. All if that is gone too. It's the outdoor part of the mall now. Ugh. I hate it
Great work covering these locations, man! As much as I miss the old Del Amo mall from my childhood, the place was definitely dying a slow death before the big makeover... When I was in high school, I can remember the Montgomery Ward section being a completely abandoned ghost town before it got torn down. So nostalgia aside, I'm glad they were able to breathe some new life into the mall and it seems to be alive and thriving now.
Amazing documentation ! I have spent a lot of time in the South Bay and the San Fernando Valley so I love your videos ! I shared this video on FB and promoted your channel on a “You know South Bay” FB group !
This episode was so dope, love seeing what my stomping grounds looked like in the 90s before i moved here from the Val... Being that my daughters were born at Torrance Memorial, i cant wait to show them this in the future.. This one was really dope dude! Also cool that Tarantino had a job out here back in the day...
The Restaurant on Sepulveda that is now a Wendys was a Mexican restaurant named El Paso Cantina. It was a favorite of Torrance locals. Thanks for filming locations of my home town. Love this movie...I subscribed.
This movie is like a time capsule. I was in high school when this movie came out then a few years after high school when I had a CDL and drove dump trucks I spent a lot of time in the south bay area. This brings me back to my truck driving days.

Another fantastic video. I actually worked at that Sam goody on the second floor in the 90s. The mall was so much better back then. And busier. You reminded me of Bookstar. I forgot about that store that was a great book store. And I eat at that food court often. I worked there before this movie came out.
Thanks for highlighting the South Bay! I live right by Carson Street and Avalon Boulevard. I remember those businesses. The El Charo used to be an old Taco Bell.
Great job, my man! I absolutely love this movie. So depressing that many of the places (i.e. Cockatoo Inn) are no longer there...Must make it very challenging to find the exact location.
I just subscribed yesterday and I'm loving your channel. Two of my favorite movies are JB and Boogie Nights, which you also covered. You mentioned it being bittersweet in that video because of all the places that are gone. I agree 100% with that assessment on both these flicks. Seems like it was yesterday when I saw Boogie in the theater, and now I'm a 41 year old man. Time is a thief. Thanks for the fantastic content!
I worked and hung out at Del Amo mall in 88.Its been remodel since the.The Montgomery Ward side was always dead nothing going on that side of the mall.Thank you for the memories as i know most of those locations you pointed out.Good ol days.
I just got back from LAX a few days ago and walked by those amazing tiles from the opening. I was walking towards the Terminal 5/6 baggage claim, but maybe it's in other terminals as well. Appreciate all the time you put in these, love them all.
L.A. is a living, evolving organism that is constantly changing. Almost nothing there stays the exact same for very long, but it's always cool to see small details that still exist like roofs of houses, signs, and other random pieces of history once captured on film in a notable/recognizable scene. It's amazing how many things in places are replaced over time. It's also crappy how places with unique history and identity are eventually torn down. Those Old Hollywood/Disney type hotels, bars, restaurants with the greenery and European village look used to be a staple of SoCal. I remember those fondly from summers in the 80s & 90s. Some would have trees cut like bonzai trees with vines growing on walls or over entrances. It sucks that some places are gone, like the diner in Pulp Fiction, or that motor lodge from Cobra.
You really do a good job with these video's, I enjoy watching them. I used to hang out with friends back in the day at the Del Amo and saw a lot of movies there in the theater. This video brings back many good memories. I knew Del Amo went through a major renovation so its not like the old days. Keep up the good work.
As ever, it's a perfect run through of the locations, with extra detail and commentary. LA City should put these videos into their permanent collection or something. It's very accessible LA history. Very well done.
You do a terrific job putting your videos together. It's got to take a lot of time filming the locations, editing all the parts together plus adding the narration. I always look forward to your posts and thank you for your hard work.

Great vid! The apartment where Jackson goes to see Beumont hasn't changed much and it gives me the vibe of Butchs apartment area in Pulp Fiction whenever I see it. I must say when Jackson no longer has his hair ponytailed and it's just long he looks scary every moment til the time Keaton shoots and kills him and the camera shows Jackson dead on the floor looking up at the camera.

Man, I love the look and feel of Jackie Brown. I've watched this Tarantino movie more than any of them - just because of how sunny and beautiful California looks - even in the night scenes. Every scene just radiates a warm feeling - to me. I'd just graduated High School when this came out, and me and my friends went from band practice, smoked a joint on the way, and finally saw the follow up to Pulp Fiction. It's one of those days I remember exactly as it happened. I was 18 at the time, so watching Robert De Niro smoke pot was just nuts. The mall, Sam Goody's, the phones - the soundtrack. This movie takes me to a special place. This was awesome man. Thank you for this. I'm watching Jackie Brown again tonight.
Sweet! Great video. I like this movie. Not my favorite by QT but still very good. But I hate how many locations have been demolished. It looks like every 5 years the half of the city is being replaced with a newer stuff...
That was ace, not the best film imo by QT but good film. You always do an amazing job on locations. Please do Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction If possible. Can't wait for the next upload 😊
I love this movie. As far as Sid Haig he doesn't have a big role in any Tarantino film he appears in and I believe it's only Jackie Brown as the Judge and Kill Bill 2 as the bartender at the strip bar that Michael Madsens character Budd works at. Sid Haig was actually considered for Marcelleus Wallace in Pulp Fiction which I can see working.
This is definitely my stomping ground. I went to the middle school on the other end of the mobile home park. That restuarant next to the bail bonds was a Taco Bell. I heard the old Taco Bell buildings were protected by the historical society, interesting that one was a knock down. The shopping center Jackie is driving by with the Office Depot was called The Old Time Mall. I haven't been to Del Amo mall in a while I didn't know about the renovations. Where the Mobil gas station was those apts went up about a year ago...
Loved seeing del amo mall in this movie. Would hang out there almost every weekend as a teenager socializing. Haven’t even been there since it was torn down and remodeled.
7:23 I think I've seen that building in a few episodes of Reno 911. Its sad that so many of the structures used in this movie are gone. Same with The Big Lebowski, which came out a few months after Jackie Brown. A few years ago, I found out that the bowling alley where that movie was filmed had been torn down and replaced with a school or something.
We used to skate the pool at the cockatoo inn for years. It had this cool rock coping. We removed some of the coping and put it on the punk wall at the channel st skatepark in San Pedro. The coping is still there getting skated everyday
I was at Del Amo on one of the days they were filming there. I remember overhearing from someone that it was for "some Robert De Niro movie." I didn't know that that movie would eventually turn out to be one of my favorite movies ever.
Great. What I find fascinating is that 25 years (at the time of this video) after filming the movie so much has completely changed. With most movies filmed anywhere in Europe much would likely have changed very little. The transient nature of most things American is astonishing.
You have the former Cherry Bail Bonds and Beaumont Livingston apartment as the same address. The apartments I Believe are on Lakme Ave in Wilmington. I only realized this now becuase Jackie Brown is on Tubi right now
I did some electrical work at the Opp street location in Wilmington. This was an experience, this took place about four years after the movie came out. The house was extremely ran down and filthy. The owner had not paid the electricity bill and the power was tuned off for about eight months. He had ten dogs living there and one of them knocked over a candle that started a small fire, which did some damage to the back bedroom and part of the bathroom. I was called in by a real estate agent I did a few jobs for, he had to pay the electricity bill so we could assess the electrical damage. Upon entering the house for the first time I immediately took the Dracula pose (covering my face with the inside of my elbow) in the attempt to ward off the odor. I'll spare you the rest of what I saw, but lets just say Quentin could have returned and filmed a horror movie. It was a difficult job due to the conditions and upon leaving there were only seven dogs left, three had died within a week.
Fun fact also the court building was very dear to me since I was arrested and tooken to that court and in that same courtroom where sid was a judge,,,trust me i remember it,,,,😂this courtroom is just a stonesthrow away from the mall,,
I was in summer school when they filmed that movie. I sat and ate at El Taco Charro while they filmed the part when they (Robert Deniro & Samuel Jackson) arrive at the bail bonds place. They must of shot it at least like 8 times.
Great video. Worked in Torrance for 4 years & lived in Redondo Beach for 11 years and many of these places were well known to me.
Thank you!!

Fascinating.
It just goes to show you how messed up our priorities are nowadays when we tear down a bowling alley to build a SCHOOL! 😉
We used to skate the pool at the cockatoo inn for years. It had this cool rock coping. We removed some of the coping and put it on the punk wall at the channel st skatepark in San Pedro. The coping is still there getting skated everyday
Classic keep it up Jackie brown is one of my fav movies which was filmed not far from me
Good work . love from pakistan 🇵🇰
Thank you so much!!
I was at Del Amo on one of the days they were filming there. I remember overhearing from someone that it was for "some Robert De Niro movie." I didn't know that that movie would eventually turn out to be one of my favorite movies ever.
Great job. Which street is the closed off parking lot is next to? Since the mall is so huge I wasn’t able to find it. Thank you !
I would love to see a segment about filming locations of Body Double!
Great. What I find fascinating is that 25 years (at the time of this video) after filming the movie so much has completely changed. With most movies filmed anywhere in Europe much would likely have changed very little. The transient nature of most things American is astonishing.
I love this movie so much! when Max left with that money I was so pumped haha!
It's a great one. Thank you for watching
Have u done the filming locations for "To live and die in LA"? This is one of my favorite movies.
I have. It's in my filming locations Playlist

Hello. Thank you for watching
You have the former Cherry Bail Bonds and Beaumont Livingston apartment as the same address. The apartments I
Believe are on Lakme Ave in Wilmington. I only realized this now becuase Jackie Brown is on Tubi right now
Great movie an great cast. If you go on google before they renovated ,there was a Carson bail bonds in the same exact place.
Big Quintin Tarantino fan. I love Jackie Brown. Paying homage to the Blackploitation movies of the 70s. Amazing picture.
Fun fact also the court building was very dear to me since I was arrested and tooken to that court and in that same courtroom where sid was a judge,,,trust me i remember it,,,,😂this courtroom is just a stonesthrow away from the mall,,
That tile wall at LAX was also used in an ep of Mad Men.
I was in summer school when they filmed that movie. I sat and ate at El Taco Charro while they filmed the part when they (Robert Deniro & Samuel Jackson) arrive at the bail bonds place. They must of shot it at least like 8 times.
That's so rad. Thank you for watching
