A cat themed landfall deck featuring cult classics such as Stepp Lynx made it to the top 3 of a Modern Challenge earlier this week. So yeah, cats can be good.
I’m bowmaster tired
Honestly, I’d love to see more Modern content Vince! Keep it coming, and keep it efficient and quick.
We need more Modern DnT & creature aggro content. Don’t give up! Have fun!
I've been playing a Waste Not deck for a good while now using Burning Inquiry, dark deal, sheoldred, Bowmasters. So much fun. Recently added Nethergoyf which so far seems ok but still testing whether it gets a permanent home in the deck
"Alas, poor Yorick! I knew him, Horatio!" -Hamlet
the burning inquiry deck does look pretty cool
Holy crap Phyrexian Tower is in modern now?? They really brought some serious power to the format with these reprints.
I think... I feel for anyone who is heavily invested in a format, who loses out based on decisions of WotC (or more broadly, whoever is in charge of whatever game). Whether that's bannings, or whether that's 'power creep' of the Horizons sets and things like that.
But, I don't have any Modern decks. I have - or had - nothing anywhere close to a Modern deck. Or Pauper decks, or anything in paper. I have a stack of mostly junk or jank old cards from 25 years ago, and a decent but recent Arena collection.
After one prerelease, and one draft - and to be fair, a couple of the commander precons, the lands one and the energy one - I have a Guide of Souls. I have a raptor, I have a couple of amulets. I have a Wheel. I have a Sorin, I have a Soul Trader. I have one set of Tron, lol. I have a stack of commons that people are talking about re: pauper. If I really wanted to play Modern, it feels far more in reach now than it ever has - hell, it feels more in reach than obtaining most of the 'good' Standard decks, at the moment.
19:33 Kenobi wins a game by becoming a royalist. My gods, does Modern's corrupted influence no bounds? /s
I've been playing RW energy in timeless on Arena, it's insanely fun! Glad it's doing well in modern too, wish I didn't need to pay hundreds of dollars to play it in paper lol
Yay cats!
Great deck. how about abzan leonin + ass trophy + new orchid knight + ghost quarter?
Saw you play against doom from the other angle hah
What does the DB in your mtgo username mean? I’ve seen a lot of content creators with it now and I don’t know what it is
Cats are good *meow*
Can you do a Death and Taxes after MH3 maybe?
I feel like bushwhacker + amped raptor is a nonbo, no? Can't kick it?
You can pay Kicker as you place it onto the stack, as far as I understand it
😮
It seems alright. I wouldn't say having one cat makes cats good. You have to commit a lot to keep that cat pumping out tokens.
So fun fact about Wheel of Potential, although the intent behind the card is obviously clearly meant as "each player draws equal to the energy paid", in the current Comprehensive Rules, it doesn't actually work like that, rules as written. The YT channel Judging FtW explains it in more detail, but basically since the card lacks an "If/When you do" clause on the energy payment, or a "draw equal to the amount of energy payed" in the second line, you can technically draw as many cards as you want, since the rules written on the card don't see them as "officially" linked.
Funny story. So I booted up a game with my amelia combo deck but accidentally set it to timeless ranked instead of Explorer ranked which I meant to. (i'm in plat), I immediately realise my mistake but play the game anyway instead of conceding. I face a version of this deck and crush them. Good times
Given the presence of Ajani and emphasizing Cats in the deck, I hereby dub this deck "Chandra's Boyfriend and pals"
Huh
@@vioussy The joke is War of the Spark Forsaken
@@Greg501- I can believe Chandra cheated on Gideon while his body--uh, ashes--were still warm. That hussy. /s
Cats have been cheesy for years. Where've you been?
Try to keep up.
It's funny to see how they have moved modern with a lot of energy matters cards after the nightmare of disrupting legacy for more than a year with the sticker mind goblin meta and almost mandatory sticker decks. It's like they want to sell packs by pushing strong format warping archetypes.
This is basically on MTGA yet you chose MTGO???
I do understand your match ups against other Modern decks vs Historic/Timeless match ups will make this look different though.
Yeah, Modern is a far better format.
The game 2 scam kind of exemplifies why it probably still needs to go; it's not broken, but it puts *both* players in to top-deck mode very quickly. That's not good game design for any format in any card game, really. There's a level of hand disruption that is healthy and even necessary to disrupt early combos and fast cheat-into-play decks, but Grief scam ain't it.
Yeah, they really dropped the ball with Grief. I mean, a literal Thoughtseize on a stick, but you don't lose life for stealing a card. Then, because they didn't bother to foresee bounce tricks, you can get a double discard and a body on board, all on turn 1.
They could have easily fixed the card so that bouncing didn't work. But the didn't, so here we are lol.
First 😮
No one cares dude
