      Thank you for your nice comment! It was truly spectacular to witness the CRJ1000 landing and taking off in Bern! But the runway in Bern is only 30 meters wide and 1730 meters long. Seeing such a massive aircraft, nearly 40 meters in length, in Bern is incredibly rare. 🛫 The aircraft is limited to carrying a maximum of 60 passengers to operate safely from Bern. In case of wet runway conditions, the CRJ-1000 cannot land here and must be diverted to Basel. I think it is absolutely the wrong aircraft to operate from Bern.

      Appreciate your kind words, thank you! Seeing the CRJ1000 at Bern is a unique experience, given the airport's narrow 30m-wide, 1730m-long runway. The aircraft, close to 40m in length, is restricted to carrying just 60 passengers instead of its usual 100 for safe operations from Bern. In case of wet conditions, it must divert to Basel. Clearly, the CRJ1000 isn't the most suitable aircraft for operations at Bern.

      Thank you for your kind words! It was really spectacular to see the CRJ1000 landing and takeoff in Bern! The CRJ-1000 is indeed a beast of a plane, being 39.13 meters long. It's impressive to see such a large aircraft maneuver on a runway that is only 30 meters wide and 1730 meters long. But no worries, the widening at the end of the runway allows for a safe turn. It's one of the largest planes operating at Bern Airport. ️

    Good plane, more lighter weight MTOW than Embraer 190 or replacing Fokker 100...but lack in confort.

    • @matthiashaenni
      @matthiashaenni  2 месяца назад

      Thank you very much for your comment. The Embraer 190 can carry more passengers than the CRJ1000. The CRJ1000 is equipped with General Electric CF34-8C5A2 engines, each providing 60.63 kN of thrust. This is much lower compared to the Embraer 190's CF34-10E engines, which deliver 82.3 kN of thrust each. In Bern, it's a runway showdown. In Bern, the runway is 1730 meters long. The CRJ1000 is only allowed to operate with 60 passengers on board, while the Embraer 190 takes off with a full load. The CRJ1000 is definitely the lame duck here.
