Landing with NO GO AROUND, Papua, Pilatus PC6

- This village is located in the Star Mountains of Papua, Indonesia. The runway is beautiful and tucked in a valley, making it impossible to go around. After the last ridge on the right you are pretty much committed to land.
The village is known for the Kulit Masohi (similar to sandal wood) and we fly lots of it out.
This video was recorded over 6 months and it took about 4 months to assemble.

As a Brazilian air traffic controller, I can't find a word to describe how beautiful and wonderful was this film. This is amazing! Looks like a dream! You are making history! Some tears dropped from my eyes watching this video and the kids having fun with the drone. God bless you! I'm already a fan of you! You connect this people to the rest of the world! AMAZING!!! 🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
Muito obrigado pelo seu comentário. Um forte abraço GTor🙏😁
is there nothing like this in brazil? surely somewhere near the andes would be similar
As an ordinary guy on the ground I feel exactly the same - Marvellous! //
@@10babiscar andes isnt in Brazil. Is near to the chile. Peru...
Thanks brothers, sincerely yours from Indonesia. God bless you 🙏🙏👍
So very familiar. We worked at Tiom in West Papua 1973-75 and MAF serviced our area. Our daughter was born at Mulia. She is 48 now. My wife is now passed. A trek that took me 2 days, we could cover in a 10 minute flight. So many memories. The Danis were wonderful people.
Hey Ron, thank you for sharing. I'm sorry to hear about your wife. It's amazing how planes have made life so much more easier for these people.
Tuhan Yesus memberkati keluargamu. Terima kasih atas pengorbanannya bagi kami di Papua.
Becoming a pilot in Papua is very difficult due to uncertain natural conditions. If there is a pilot who can fly in Papua then he can fly anywhere in the world. Without any international administrative restrictions, you have the ability to fly without geographical restrictions anywhere on the planet. God bless Mr. Pilot
Thank you so much for your kind comments 🙏🙏

As a native Papuan, I thank you very much for serving difficult flights to the Land of Papua. Thank you Mr. Pilot. God bless
Boina Molana tru, bro.....🙂🙂
The Pilatus Porter was the first ever plane I flew on back in 1967 when I was just 7yrs old. Dad worked on the Snowy Mountains Scheme in Australia, and the Pilatus was a major transportation method for the smaller remote Townships of "The Snowy" . Still one of my very favorite planes of all time. I have a model on my desk at work. Your videos are great. Thanks for the memories ....haha
One of the world's great airplanes. In 1967 they flew all over Laos and Vietnam into similar landing strips. I always had great confidence flying in them. Still a winner after 60 years.
@@vinquinn were you a FAC? How do you even these planes were used in Laos?
Does Lima Site-85 strike a note? Or maybe Tacan channel 97?
@@vinquinn awesome. I was too young but my dad would tell me stories about site 85. I recently visited site 85. My uncle worked with Hog, his call sign was Lucky.
@@thoraz997 Just a little info. I was not a FAC. I was a tech rep (Field Engineer). I operated and maintained air navigation, beacons, radios and generators. I spent most of my time at LS-85 but also traveled to other locations. Spent a lot of time flying around in small aircraft.
This is definitely an "I can't make mistakes" area of flying.
As a 48 y/o new pilot, I am blown away by your experience. The danger and beauty of what you do is inspiring.
Летчик экстра класса!
This is so scary, one failure on take-off, it's over... any issues on landing, it's over (failed engine short of the runway, etc). Thouroughly envigorating however. Thanks for posting and you are a brave soul my friend !!!!!
That welcoming rooster dance is killer!
I have been flying in this area in FSX many hundreds of hours. This is absolutely insane.
Welcome in indonesia🇮🇩
I really like the scenery in Indonesia
Wow!! You put a lot of faith in that little PT6 turbine, lucky for you (and us) it has a great reputation for reliability. Thanks for taking us along for the ride, you are living all our dreams.
Made in Canada by P&W.
Terimakasih sudah memberikan kebaikan untuk masyarakat Papua
one of the most beautiful videos I've ever seen, about aviation
Nice to see new PC6 video's and drone images from the airfields! Thank you.
Thanks for putting it on the line to help isolated communities.
Great job of filming it. Dig it! 👍
Deus te abençoe
I can't express enough how much I admire and respect the work and commitment of these people.
Man, this place is like our Amazon rain forest here in Amazonas but with mountains, it is so beautiful, as much as i can admire our forest here everything looks so nice when a bunch of slopes are added to the biome, it is really an amazing place.
Couldn't agree more! Thanks for your message! Keep well 🙏😁
This landing is actually one of the landing in MSFS 2020 landing scenarios. Pretty cool to see it live. I have never landed soft field but you made it look easy. There were very happy to see you.
Wow, incredible flying over the jungle where you can't see what's in there. Fantastic video, great cameras.
stunning scenery........glad we have still these remote areas
Love the shelf design of the instrument panel. I’ve never seen that before.
Glad you like it!
Terimakasih sudah bersedia bekerja untuk sodara kami di Papua.
the Pilatus PC6 is the perfect airplane for Papua Flying Landing and take off. priceless. it is my favorite air plane to fly.
Twin Otters have done that same bussing in PNG for decades. At least they are twins.
The drone footage really adds to this video.Thank you.
I worked with Arial Tours out of Moresby in 1970. I did many of these tight strips in Norman Britton Islanders. Exciting times.
Thanks for bringing back the memories.
This whole video is just beautifully done. As a long-time pilot myself, I appreciate the skill. But beyond that, this is just gorgeous and peaceful and so well done. Thank you for sharing.
Been watching MAF pilots in Papua for 30 years, nearly followed that path but trained on helicopters and then a Techo on fighter jets. It never fails to amaze me what these Pilots in Papua do. The best in the world get their wings here. I love Pilatus too. Rolls Royce bugsmashers those Pilatus.
Thanks for sharing your story and thanks for the message. Keep well Alister!
That was an absolute pleasure to watch. Nicely done!!!!!
Outstanding video! What thrilling landings and takeoffs!
Hope the pilot gets paid very well, especially since they're flying solo. The jungle canopy makes any engine-out situation look to be unsurvivable unless near the landing strips.
Pilot disana udh kayak tukang mobil bak.. suruh nata barang sendiri..
Salut... Keren..
Спасибо большое за съёмку! Сразу 2 дела делаете: и перевозки, и красоту показываете!
its dangerous and beautiful at the same time when u flying above the land of papua, the view sooo nice. mad respect for your service mr pilot! take care and be safe!
Your drone flights ARE GREAT 👍...Awesome plane to fly for sure
Beautiful video of a beautiful country.
Wow sungguh2 para pilot pemberani yang bisa landing di kawasan pegunungan Papua yang sangat cantik... salut. Salam dari Bukitiinggi Sumatera Barat.
The most beautiful runway ever!
Great video and flying. Thank you for sharing
Absolutely Astounding. Thank you. Other pilots talk. You just show how it is done. Love that old Pilatus. What a great way to see the world. Outstanding. Wind at your nose and blue sky upi!!! That end video of the kids by drone was joyous.
Mantap kawan...Pemandangan bagus di pegunungan Bintang.. ..Nice fly... Salam dari merauke
Wundervolle Pilatus Porter..
Toller PILOT.. 👍👍👍😎
That's far nicer than staying in a jet's cockpit for hours doing nothing but looking at the EFIS, MFD, PFD, etc. In those commercial flights all we can do manually is to take off (and press the autopilot button between 1000' and 10000' , as it's mandatory for many air companies around the globe ) and then await till we're authorized to intercept ILS, when we disengage autopilot and land the plane manually when the aircraft is stabilized. Kudos to you, mate! 👍👍
Thanks for sharing this beautiful video
this is my big dream, to fly in a Pilatus and then in such a beautiful environment like Papua. What beautiful impressions
As aviation addicted and Captain on a jetliner I see myself places everywhere in the world and I know snapshots, movies and documentaries about every different way of life expressing the beautiful way how different aviation can be.
You have a very own way of filming. You show the highlights and makes us people who watch it being a part of it. Everyone which tried it knows how difficult it is to express a moment you feel on a pic or film.
Keep on filming...!
I have an idea...what about swapping jobs? :D
All the best 🤙🏼
Thank you so much for your kind message! Made my day for sure! Safe flying!
TOO much fun! Thanks for sharing
Beautifully flying ! I love watching this.
Awesome landing, right in the grooves. And awesome greeting from the locals!
Wonderful 🎥, no doubt about it, this is a place like no other in the 🌎. Take care ! 👌
Amazing thing you're doing. Thank you for sharing.
To the pilot,
Know this, that you are having a dream job, on a dream plane.
I know the porter from when I was a child when it dropped skydivers at the local airfield 3 km from my home.
As I am starting to think about doing my pilots license I know, flying the pc 6 will probably stay a dream.
So know how blessed you are and that you provide a great service to people living in remote areas.
God bless you and may he protect you always on your flights.
Dear Oifel. Thank you so much for your words. They mean a lot to me. I feel moved by your story. I hope you get to fly a Porter one day. She won't disappoint. Keep well and safe flying.
I loved skydiving out of the Pilatus, such a beautiful bird, and that engine, gives me goose bumps every time I hear it. Great video
Same! Did my first jumps from a PC6!
awesome pilot skills and beautiful pictures!Congratulations!
I was moved watching this video. Thank you very much for sharing your experience. Amazing 🥲
Thanks and you for showing us how spectacular his work is despite the riskiness of the landing strips.
What a beautiful country, will I ever get to see this in my life...

awesome sir and thx for shared
Beautiful area and flying! Those mountain strips appeal to me since I fly a small 2-seat STOL in mountain areas in USA. What a wonderful life flying support missions in an amazing area with such a cool airplane.

Incredibly brave and skilled aviators !
majestic mountains.
incredible flying, very beautiful.
totally enjoyed that..I liked seeing the quick start-up procedure on the gauges. Working and flying to these remote spots must be a helluva adventure in those mountains with unpredictable weather and wind conditions...cool to watch....safe travels!
Very beautiful…and challenging to fly!!!
I was a missionary for about 10 years, first in South America and then in Myanmar. I have landed (as a passenger) on sketchy remote bush strips many, many times. This brought back a lot of memories.
Beating god into people who didn't want you there, what a guy.
@@colin-nekritz We rescued 1200+ children from brothels, sweatshops, and trafficking situations and paid from our own funds for their medical care, housing and education. The local government begged our organization to come help. What did you do?
Amazing beautiful nature
Beautiful 😂🎉 Flying I Loved it, Good 👍 Job, Keep it up, Aloha, Walter.
That landing gear looks much better than the Kodiak for heavy loads.
Now that's what you call REAL flying. What an experience!
Very nice video and beautiful country.
Great video, views and flying 👍💯 thanks for sharing it "
THIS DUDE HAS AMAZING SKILLS AND THE EDITING MY GODNESS. GOOD JOB AND STAY SAFE PILOT.
What and amazing vid, gorgeous scenery and- awesome piloting skills skimming the treetops ... little to no room for error that's for sure!
Sinh chào bạn kênh tuyệt vời quá bạn ơi mình cảm ơn bạn đã chia sẻ video này nhé ♥️🙏👍
What a beautiful video. Thank you!
Great pilot job. Beautiful views
Many thanks for taking these videos, the cinematography and editing equal to your flying skills. I am 56 and growing up you only ever saw such wonderful things as you have shown once ever year, if lucky, in a documentary with 16mm format. Technology has its upsides as well as down.
I hope the spirit of past aviators look after your plucky plane and its engine; I spotted a few trees out there ! :)
Finally, the kids loving your drone zipping about made me smile. Maybe one day it might spur at least one to be a pilot and follow in your footsteps.
Thank you for your beautiful message 🙏😊😊

Mate your video editing skills and videography is incredible. Truly amazing job you have. Thanks for sharing. I've only flown Black Hawks up in Papua New Guinea. And it was scary at times. And in the highlands we couldn't just come to the hover either. Not enough power with a full load. But definitely props for your work. Much Respect.
Thank you for providing endless and fantastic footage.. you guys are amazing pilots
