@@norivaljunior6117 is this the one you need too get a special training to land on? i would also say courchevel is on the list, but i believe the higher elevation of lukla would make landing on it harder since you need more airspeed
Excellent video! Thank You! In Lukla there are no go arounds, you either land correctly or die. Also, in case of an engine failure, a fatal accident is also guaranteed. That is why is considered one of the most dangerous airports in the world.
Incredible footage! A day at Lukla Tenzing Hillary Airport, one of the world's most challenging airports, offers a glimpse into the thrilling world of aviation. The planespotting in 4K truly captures the excitement and skill required for landing and takeoff in such a demanding environment.
The take off video from inside the plane is breathtaking. I would love to experience that plane ride. I bet it’s an amazing and exciting feeling. Awesome video.
Such nice compilation! Must´ve been a lot of fun for an avgeek. In case of engine failure during T/O, there´s plenty of altitude to bury the plane "safely" onto those valleys down there. The engine failure during landing is a no no... no room for a go around and that threshold looks hard as a rock! Cheers from Brazil
Great video ...❤️ I've been here in 2019, January is winter, the weather is unpredictable, so that day we can fly or not. We have to wait patiently, there is no certainty of departure, so we must always be ready. When we approached to land we were between mountains, we didn't know where the runway was. Only a few moments before landing we realized that there was a runway ahead Adventurers or mountain climbers must try, at least once in their life, the very interesting journey from Lukla airport to Everest Base Camp ... I love Lukla and EBC forever ...❤️
This vid is very much a not me video, but I still have to give it a like, because for a "you do you" video, you must have had SO much fun ... and I can appreciate that.
Nice to see my twotter making hay I used to work for Viking Air did the final inspection on that airplane when it left final completion man they make it work love it.
I was there over 20 years ago we flew with Yeti airlines . We were delayed flying in due to cloud. We asked why we were delayed and were told due to the cloud the pilots won’t fly…why not ? Because there are mountains in the clouds 😂. Nepal is a beautiful country and the people are so friendly a magical place to visit and the mountains are beautiful. Yeti airlines were shut down the week after we flew back under safety grounds lol 😂
Single engine helis, are they safe enough to fly around these mountains like that ? Most planes that land there are twins. Its also interesting that most shut down the engines almost immediately after turning off the runway, not much of a cooling period for the turbines ?
i got out of ther in 68 only 4 yrs aftr hillary had it built > my right ankle was badly bruised fro th 100m mi trek frm kathmandu. so i went to calcutta then honolu & los angeles calif
That slope! I do wonder how much it saves on landings and take off... 50m? 100 meters? Some of these aircrafts could probably take of from a large aircraft carrier without the launch hook...
Approaches are fun at both of them, but at St Barts you do at least have the option of a go-around if you mess up. Here you don't have to nose-dive down a hill to get onto the runway, but you're going to go 💥 into the mountain if you don't brake quickly enough. At least the uphill runway should help to slow you down 🤦
This is easily the very best Lukla video I have seen. Well done. Well done.
One of the only airports in the world where i would consider it perfectly appropriate to clap after a normal landing...
Look Santos Dumont in Rio de Janeiro!

Not after a touchdown, but after sucsessfully braking only.

There does exist one video of a goaround
Terrifyingly beautiful!
Wow! What you captured there was absolutely amazing. Great content and videos. I can’t wait for more.
Awesome planespotting at most dangerous airport in the world!! ❤❤

Awesome! Bet that was a ton of fun!
Someone actually stood there at one point and said "ya know what, we're going to put an airport right here".
Wonderful capturing ❤
I'd love to fly in and straight out again just for that exhilarating experience!
Amazing plane spotting location
Was there in 85, long before the paved runway.... Great video!
Such a beautiful place and a pleasure to watch. DHC-6 is an absolute beast up there!🤙
De très belles observations aériennes 🙂👍

What a big point of my bucketlist. Mate you made it 😃🤘
Love it!
Didn’t even realize you went to Luka until now I would be a little scared to land there because of the history anyway nice video as always Cal!
Very nice
Some great footage, thanks for sharing. Thumbs up from me!

those twin otters are no joke. They take off at least 100 feet before the Dorniers and and L-410s. Amazing planes
Very good

Can someone please tell me in the event of an engine failure on take off there is no room to shut down what happens ?

There's plenty of room below to gain airspeed 😁
You probably ain’t gonna make it back unharmed

Great pilots !!!
I have worked in aerospace all my life...I would be applauding as well, after that landing. That is dangerous terrain.
Thanks!
Lovely way of thanking. Thanks!
They're pulling quite a hole shot off the line almost ramping the crest of the hill
Great!

When do they have time to service these planes they’re non stop

Seems to me a Cessna caravan or a PC-12 would do OK out of Lukla..but do they only let twin engine planes operate here?
I only remember this from PTFS when I used to play it on roblox.
Lukla in s busy day looks like aircraft carrier operation.
1737' of runway. Impressive

10 of 10 to sita air 9N-AHR for touch down right at runway number while landing. ❤
Weird theory but: due to the skill of the pilots landing there and (probably) different safety measures, it actually is a pretty safe airport
That slope! I do wonder how much it saves on landings and take off... 50m? 100 meters? Some of these aircrafts could probably take of from a large aircraft carrier without the launch hook...
Why is the sound of turboprops so intoxicating? Or maybe it's just me.
Pilot: "In case of emergency we can go around? Right? "😰
Whoever made this airport: "That's the best part. You can't"
Nothing to worry about -- That plane taking off must've had almost 5 feet to spare at the end of the runway! No problem!
Đẹp quá ♥️
“CLIMB, CLIMB NOW!” 🗣️🗣️🗣️‼️‼️
What if pilot is unable to take off at the last moment? Plane may fall down?
There is a cliff edge at the end of the runway so that is entirely likely
You pick a point to abort. If you go past that point you are committed to taking off regardless of the situation.
Do they have aviation fuel at this airport? If they do how is it brought in? Thank you for the video...
They have enough to do the return journey and reserves for holding but I would assume there’s some spare up there
Đây là ở đâu. Một nơi giàu có đến mức xây dựng được sân trên vách núi vậy. Có lẽ là sân bay ngắn nhất rồi
That Twin Otter beats em all.
Looks like no go arounds on a botched approach...only one way in I'm guessing..
Surprised they don't make it an app

not sure who is ever going to be able to use runway 24 there...

@@AndreiTupolevI’ve done both now and I can’t decide which one was more fun. However Lukla feels like more of a once in a lifetime kind to go to
Clapping on landing before the MF has got it stopped. You know contact with the ground ain’t the main bit there, right?!
