Car and Driver has the 1/4mi and trap speeds for these cars at almost exactly the same; however, that’s with a DSG GTI and a manual Elantra N. The Elantra N is almost $40k with a DCT too. The GTI has an MSRP of $30k but an Autobahn like the one in the video with DSG is also probably close to $40k. They’re very similar priced cars, but if Toyota can keeps its promise of a low $30k MSRP then it could steal the market from both of these with the GR Corolla.
@@BrownSofaGamer the GTI should be competing against the likes of a Honda Civic Si, the elantra N peers would be the Golf R, The Type R, the Corolla GR, and the Veloster N, price wise the Hyundais are priced very competitively. I however wise they had more KIA designers. Both Hyundai cars have a very hit or miss design for people, KIA imo has a more elegant if you may style. The stinger GT, the Genesis G70/G80, the K5 GTs are all beautiful cars imo.

Everybody crying that the GTI isn’t the N’s competition is delusional. They’re in the same price bracket. Small and sporty. The Golf R is 10k more expensive. That’s not comparable. Do you want a faster, more raw and unrefined ride( and not as good looking)? Or do you want a more well rounded(no pun😁) feature laden, daily driver with more long term tuning possibilities? But the AWD R isn’t in the same class.
You understand, both great cars but different flavours. I wouldn’t consider them direct competition, I’d say the Type R is a closer competitor to the N. The GTI seems to be in its own semi-luxurious category of hot-hatch. The Golf R is a super hot-hatch, and would definitely smoke both cars lol
They don’t compete. A Gti cs would be the N’s competition. These two are both underrated, they make their rated numbers at the wheels. Gti tested at 240whp and the EN tested at 285whp. Look at the specs, the Gti clubsport is much closer to the N. Money doesn’t dictate if the cars compete, it’s how similar they are
@@PapiAndrey cars compete against eachother in price brackets. Some cars just punch above there weight. Shit the GTI is more expensive then the EN they can touch 40k.
@@Tsand4 the N punches above its weight in terms of power, but definitely not near the quality and prestige of the GTI. What I’m trying to say is comparing these vehicles based on pricing can be pretty irrelevant considering they’re differences
@@ImranKhan-mi4bh the only thing the GTI has over the N is slightly higher quality interior materials. The EN is perfectly fine to daily drive in comfort mode. @@alengreen589 how would you get an accurate reading at the engine on a dyno, when a dyno reads at the wheels or hubs? Power at the wheels is what matters.

How many races and no mention of ECS settings? Even the roll races, no mention of what of what gear they're in? You guys need to watch CarWow or any channel that does proper drag races. The GTI probably would have done better with ESC set in "sport" instead of active or off.

Good video again.👍🏼👏🏼😉🙂 Does it split Volkswagen DSG dual clutch transmission software or traction control system?. 🤔 Is the Golf GTI lighter, than the Elantra N because the power difference (241 hp vs 286hp) between them is quite large?.🤔 The VW Golf GTI should have been a 300hp (R/Club Sport) model, or is this already a four-wheel drive model?. 🤔
The white text over the green bar (when doing the horsepower specs) was a bit hard to see. My advice would be to add a thicker black bordering around the text/font to make it easier to read against different colour backgrounds.
Man that's hard to believe. The GTI couldn't put the power down well. Was electronic slip also disabled? The Elantra certainly get's up and moves though!
This video seems like something just wasn’t right… should’ve left it in S rather than using paddles, and should leave traction in ESC Sport for the best results
I dont think that would be fair vs the 22 MK8 golf R. that has a listed 1/4 mile of 12.3 vs the Elantra N 13.8, not from a dig, the Golf Rs AWD would destroy the FWD cars. A roll race would be more interesting.

Car and Driver has the 1/4mi and trap speeds for these cars at almost exactly the same; however, that’s with a DSG GTI and a manual Elantra N. I wasn’t expecting this much of a killing from the DCT EN but damn that car is fast. I think the tuning in the DSG or the traction control is worse than that in the DCT Elantra, and it’s really letting the GTI down.
Wrong car and driver tested the MANUAL Elantra N they haven’t tested the DCT EN which is much much quicker

Sam based on this video the older GLI seems to be faster than the new GTI. Can you race them against eachother ?
Something is definitely weird about how the Mk8 GTI is launching. I think the owners explanation of wheel hop might be correct, but really it just seems like they made the traction control stay on more in sport traction.

@@vroomgc I think many may be surprised the Elantra N may beat the Golf R. The Elantra N is lighter in weight and is definitely pushing more than 276hp stock.
The n would spank an mk7 r on a roll. But would be closer over the qtr. mk7 R’s are not overly lively stock.
@@joelmccoy6474 Nope. The Elantra N has been tracked at mid to high 13's for the 1/4 mile. The Golf R does low 13's. So the R would beat it. And 0-60 times are 5.2 to 4.5 for the R. This is all searchable data

This elantra n is crazy. I want to see it smoke the new wrx in a race from a dig and roll.
It already did in an Edmunds video.
Great video as always!! What’s the price of the GTI? Isn’t it like almost 40k?
The Elantra N is almost $40k with a DCT too. The GTI has an MSRP of $30k but an Autobahn like the one in the video with DSG is also probably close to $40k. They’re very similar priced cars, but if Toyota can keeps its promise of a low $30k MSRP then it could steal the market from both of these with the GR Corolla.
Elantra n is 35k with dct
@@BrownSofaGamer the GTI should be competing against the likes of a Honda Civic Si, the elantra N peers would be the Golf R, The Type R, the Corolla GR, and the Veloster N, price wise the Hyundais are priced very competitively. Wow Sam great production!! The 360 camera was better than the usual fromt and back.
I drive long commutes so the GTI was a no brainer in comparison to the Elantra N. I track my cars maybe once or twice a year so it wasn’t worth going with the ultra stiff ride quality of the N.
The EN is much quicker handles much better has way more feel has a better DCT better sounding exhaust. Better LSD with true torque vectoring…..WAY WAY better infotainment. But yet the GTI costs 5k more with any options. I don’t think some better materials are worth 5k. Your trying to say the EN is just quicker when in reality it’s better at everything besides some materials and being a little stiffer then GTI. But a lot of people complain the GTI is to soft/numb.
What is with the horrible delay between the 1-2 shift on the GTI? Takes a whole second just to shift into gear.

Does it split Volkswagen DSG dual clutch transmission software or traction control system?. 🤔

The VW Golf GTI should have been a 300hp (R/Club Sport) model, or is this already a four-wheel drive model?. 🤔
