2020 Veloster N with the performance package and of course a 6MT. This is my daily driver and I have no issues with the clutch or anything else. She is over 4 years old and I drive her like a spoiled teenager (I am 65 next month). Not even a squeak or clunk. @@arthurmroyce random question, do you like the pops and bangs as a “boomer”? As I’ve heard that N owners about your age and older do not like it when younger N owners always have the pops and bangs going in N mode??
@aussiefurbymogwaifan6621 I love them! I always use the various modes when I drive. Usually when I pass somebody I open my exhaust. My hair is completely white. I have it all but I turned early as I had a lot of red highlights. I am a bit of a speed demon.
Dude this car is awesome, super difficult to get ahold of in Cali however it turns heads, gets compliments and starts convos all the time. Really a good car
My reservation about saying it is a direct comparison to the GTI is that the GTI has wayyyy less hp & torque than the EN. I don't want to get on the octane learning train but I've dynoed my 22 EN under peak boost (19 psi vs 15 psi) and it put down 270 whp! These cars were definitely underrated from the factory and I think it competes a lot more with the Type R/S and GR Corolla than people care to admit. Also I think you spoke the truth on seats; car people love them, non car people just don't get it. Lol
It’s a competitor due to its similar price vs the GTI I wouldn’t say it has wayyyyyy more HP either. My MK8 dynoed at 241whp and 273wtq when stock. GTIs have a much better aftermarket. GTI has wayyyyy better interior and dealer/service network. I’m not a VW fan boy either but i can speak from experience since my previous car (before mk8) was a Genesis G70 3.3t. I sold it because the service at Hyundai dealers (I tried different ones) was TERRIBLE. Valet was non existent for a “luxury” car. I also got bored of the auto in the G70. I went with a 6MT GTI and I’m now at 405whp and 400wtq on 93 pump gas. No silly octane learning required. I also test drove the Elantra N and thought the interior was really cheap. Seats were hard and not comfy at all. Brakes were awesome though so I give it to the N with brakes, but that was it. GTI was better in every other way and I knew I was going to mod it so better after market, superior interior, and better dealer/service was high on my list.
The GTI also has over 40 years of history in the U.S. over 8 generations. We are in the 1st generation of N cars. The N cars focus is less compromise and more performance for your money. If they are this good on their 1st generation, can´t wait to see how the next ones will be.
@@closg9309, the dealer comparison is not valid. I have a stage 2 tuned MK7.5 GTI, and the two dealers I dealt with always denied my warranty services in my area. The dealer depends on the dealer itself, not the manufacturer.
Just rolled over 5000 miles on my 24 elantra N - I have two (and really only 2) zonks - 1. No wireless carplay 2. The plastic panels on the door. Its just a harder plastic All in all love the car and ride quality! I have experience with the Focus RS and Type R - all 3 easily valid and can't really go wrong with any. Elantra N's price point though...
@@computersupport8360which one did you get? I dug through the facebook groups looking for them but everyone seemed to complain about call quality and connection lag time
If you take a look at all my episodes on this generation of Elantra - N or otherwise - those door and dash panels are sub par in quality. This needs immediate attention.
I have a 24 Elantra N. The MPG on the sticker is a bit off in a way. The car has Standard, Sport, Eco, and N Modes. In the Eco mode i'm getting 29 MPG and up to 42 MPG on long trips. I'm assuming the 23-24 MPG is in standard Mode. They should put the MPG in each mode, cuz i wasn't too thrilled about it 23/24. I only drive in Eco and N modes. The Eco mode still moves really quick and if I need a bit more speed, i just hit the N button on my steering wheel. I had to fly out to Atlanta to get my N. Locally they were selling before they hit the lots as well as just about anywhere else. It was a 600 mile trip and that's how I found out you can get up to 42 MPG.
I LOVE my 2024 Hyundai Elantra N with the DCT in Cyber Grey. It hits way above it's class. So many cool features. I find cool new features every week. 5,500 miles so far, and loving every second of it. In ECO mode it EASILY gets 37-42 mpg when driving at 70mph or less
@takethisl2773 $4,850 cash I got 2 $500 rebates (total $1000) Total down $5,850 (including the rebate) I financed $32,000k Out the door at about $38,???k I'm still lovin it. It's worth every penny.
Yeah put s $500 tune on the gti with no bolt ons required and stay 87 octane and make 300 horsepower and 320 torque you will change your mind real quick

I had a white 22 EN 6 speed for a year. Had to trade it in just because the ride was too rigid for my back. That being said, it was easily one of the most fun and enjoyable vehicles I've ever had the privilege of owning. I picked up a totally different class of car, the 2023 300C lol.

No one loves to hate any brand. Have a look at 2020 elantra design ,you will know. But I love hyundai ,I owned that very same car and it served me well!
It's the dealership and how Hyundai handles if anything goes wrong with the cars. You can hear horror stories of hyundai denying repair things that should be under warranty.
I think there's still hate left over from when they truly were crap. I lived in Korea for six years, and owned two Hyundais in that time. The first was falling apart with just over ten thousand miles on it. Then I got one of the first Elantra's back in '91 and it was night and day better. That said, they were still shit when it came to crashworthiness. Over time, that's improved. I still laugh when people trashed my Dodge Charger because they had one back in the last century, and it was crap. I owned my 2012 for ten years and it was flawless.
As a Kona N driver here in Europe I completely agree with you. I was really looking forward to buying Elantra N but sadly - they never brought it here in Europe. I don`t really understand why - I mean it would have been an excellent direct competitor to the Skoda Octavia RS, which is basically a re-badged GTI in a sedan version. We have plenty of performance sedan options from other European brands, but Hyundai remarkably - never pulled the trigger to bring it here. It was a big mistake IMHO, because we love the i30N and all those guys who bought it and got a family - had to look for a performance sedan elsewhere so Hyundai lost customers. Furthermore - they completely killed off the ICE N cars this February. Another big mistake - never mind how great the Ioniq 5 N is - it is just not something us N car drivers want to pay and drive. I understand the emissions aspect but Cmon @Hyundai EUROPE - other companies still offer "hot" ICE versions - especially VAG group - so what is the problem really? You guys cultivated so much N drivers and now where do we go for an upgrade or a new car? -THe competitors obviously - again A LOT of us are just NOT fans of EV cars - sorry.
@GOINFINITI correct. As an N driver I want to hear my engine and row my own gears. That is part of the fun. Yes, EVs have fast acceleration. I am an EE so I know this well. That is not where the fun is for me, it is the engagement.
Isn't the sedan an elantra rebadged as a sedan version of the i30 though? Because that's what we have in Australia, elantras that are rebadged as the "i30 sedan"
I purchased an Elantra n and a kona n only because at the time it was impossible to get a new Supra or Camaro zl1. Surprisingly I loved both! I eventually got my 2022 Supra 3.0 at the 3 months later. The Elantra n and kona n were more fun than the Supra by far. Absolutely recommend both. Supra was kinda boring. Supra did get the best mpg though. Now I have a 2023 zl1 6spd and 2024 camry hybrid. For anything under 50k Elantra n 6spd is the funnest option. I have also owned civic type r fk8, golf r 7.5, 3 Subaru sti, Evo 8. Only car I enjoy more is my Camaro zl1 6spd.
@@S58b58 ZL1 is my next car, once the right lawsuit comes around. lol. Joking aside, I really want a ZL1 bad. I was looking at getting the Camaro SS, Kia Stinger GT2, or even the Veloster N, since my Genesis coupe 3.8 was getting up there in miles, but I settled on the Elantra N, mainly because for less than a used Kia Stinger GT2, or used Camaro, I could still get the Elantra N, new , with warranty.

2 years and 25k miles with my 22 EN with the DCT. No mechanical issues at all. Any time I have any reservations about it or think I want to trade it in, I put my foot down or send it into a corner and those reservations disappear.
Another question, someone needs to ask why did the U.S. market version of the Hyundai Elantra N 6spd. Do not have a sunroof? While the Canadians have 6spd manuals with sunroofs? Some Canadian just post a video on one.
That shifter looks like it’s very smooth or maybe it’s the driver!! Those N cars are flying under the radar for now. I see potential. MotoMan, watch out for those rolling stops…..don’t want po po to get you :)

2016 Kia Soul with a 2.0 GDI engine bought from new. Threw a rod thru the block at 70k miles. I do all of my own maintenance and noticed what I thought to be excessive oil consumption. I took it to the dealer which did their own oil consumption test and assured me there was no problem. Needless to say my observation was correct about oiling issues. Luckily they honored the warranty and replaced the engine. I got rid of the very shortly after getting it back…
2 years ago, I had an allocation order in at my local dealer and waited 7 months and my car never came in. I then tried to get any EN anywhere within 3 states and none would do better than a $4k markup even if i were to come in and buy that day. I went and bought a GTI without any markup that day after giving up on Hyundai and their dealers. I then drove my GTI to the Hyundai dealer and got my $500 deposit back. While I like my GTI, I still look longingly at the EN, but Hyundai USA needs to do better about dealer network. This after I had bought an Ioniq 3 years ago and it was a bad experience. And then trying to get the EN. I think I am done buying Hyundai cars.
I'm an 23' owner here and I've had issues with mine. The suspension feels unsorted like something is loose or off. The vehicle seems to cut power under full out acceleration. I need to replace the breaks and rotors at 27K miles now and it has never seen a track. I was told there was cupping on the tires and HMA is refusing to replace anything under warranty, is denying the issues, and basically gaslighting me. The tech that stated on a short drive that they felt the wobbling and saw rotor warping was fired according to someone in the service department I spoke with on the week they had it and did nothing with it. So, I am replacing the parts out of pocket in the hopes that the suspension issues I feel will go away. Additionally, both headlights have a condensation issue and at least one of the rear taillights. The paint is incredibly thin and somehow there was marring early on in ownership that looks like some sort of acid damage. So, the hood will need to be repainted as I've already spent over 1k out of pocket for paint correction and ceramic coating it. This car is a money pit! Hyundai service departments are terrible! This may not change anyone's mind about purchasing the vehicle, but buyer beware!
I don't think the car is made to be taken "seriously" in the same vein as porsches are but rather to be a whimsical daily for younger people that's still attainable. They're also far more available on dealer lots than Type Rs and GR Corollas.

Elantra N - This car is a value proposition you cannot overlook. What you get is a performance vehicle with a reasonable amount of power, and handling that allows you to make the best of what you have. It lacks in some of the luxuries and reputation of other brands, but makes up for it in cost as the MSRP is significantly less than it's rivals.

9500 miles on my 2023 Elantra N manual. Great fun car. Handles so well. Never thought I would EVER buy a Hyundai. What I dont like is the octane learning. Some weird procedures to do to get 18-19psi even if you only run 93 octane. Fail on Hyundai with that. Car should have been premium fuel only. Only see 15-16psi. Feels like a stock Neon SRT-4 when it comes to speed. Rightfully so 230/240whp~ not octane learned
46 year old father of 3. Considering this for my next DD. Wish list: better interior materials, the 2.5T, and a better stereo all in for $4,000 over the current MSRP. In the vein of N Grin Shift and Corner Carving Rascal, call it the Middle Age Package.
I have a vehicle with the NU 2.0L engine & it has 80k miles on it. I've always used Penzoil Platinum or Ultra Platinum & it started burning oil at around 72k miles. On top of that around a month ago it started making a "buzzing" noise when accelerating, specifically while giving it gas but its still at a lower RPM before the downshift. It is gear independent & happens on every gear & only happens for a short period. I've got an appointment booked soon for it, I was hoping the car would be extremely reliable, it had everything on paper, port injected, naturally aspirated, Atkinson cycle (so lower compression). Could just be bad luck but the vehicle is now out of the warranty period, if there is any serious issue I'm hoping I'll get a courtesy repair by it. My mechanic told me lots of people with this engine are having problems & I saw Hyundai did a recall for some Elantra models which has piston ring issues but sadly mine isn't included in that recall despite having the same engine. This makes me regret buying a Hyundai, I really like their cars but I think I have to go with Toyota or Honda next time, when I buy a car I want it to get me to a million miles. I didn't even drive this car hard, my highway cruise control speed is 112 Km/h which is just under 70 Mph & I've left it in Eco the entire time I've owned it & I'm the original owner. I did everything right & the car is letting me down reliability wise, but I love the vehicle so much otherwise I just want it to not have issues & it sucks that it does.
They make a great car at a great price with good offerings however, fast it is not it’s quick but it’s not fast. There’s a big difference not trying to mock the car or put it down. I actually like the brand Hyundai and Kia.
I'm 42, a dad, and have had a '22 Elantra N 6MT for a little over 2 years. My wife absolutely hates the low seats, so that has turned out to be the deal breaker. I'll be trading it in for something more comfortable soon.
We have a 2nd car, 2021 Kona with the perforated leather seat. I suggest getting that exact same car to keep the wife quiet (so that you can keep the EN). In snow, set Kona's differential to 50/50 split, traction control OFF and it drives like a rally car. Plus those premium 8-way power seats are fantastic.

Honestly I think you have a bit of a hot take... I haven't heard anyone really discrediting the Elantra N as an entry level performance sedan. Most people (including myself) like the styling on it too, it's pretty conventional compared to the direction other brands (*cough cough, bmw*) have gone. Also it's 276hp not 300... 24hp difference is a pretty big stretch lol. BMW F36 owner btw.
At the crank it's over 310. Look up videos of people dyno testing them when they are octane learned. The 276/286(ngs) rating is for when the car isn't octane learned and it's been proven by multiple owners.
@@PychStudios yup. it doesn't excuse the fact that octane learning is a terrible feature and owners can't use the full potential of the car 100% of the time. But it's cool to know that they underrated the power and that it runs with the big dogs when it's fully learned (golf r/type R)
I had a 2020 Veloster N performance pack manual. I'm assuming the Elantra is geared the same way. I sold my Veloster N because I did a lot of highway driving and 6th gear at 80 mph was 3100 rpm. Quite aggravating. My old 02 Trans Am in 6th gear was 1700.
Haha thats true with the 2020 Sí I thought tho thats how most 4cyl manual transmission cars are tho or else the engine will be at harm due to lugging it if it is below that 2.5k-3k rpm level .
@@JohnLee-db9zt It's not about the engine. It's about gearing. Hyundai could have put taller gearing for the 6th. You see taller gears will lower the RPM well shorter gearing will raise it. I've had many other 4-cylinder turbos in the past some of them five-speed and 80 mph in 5th gear was 2500. There's no reason for a Hyundai to have such a short gear ratio for 6th gear. It's a cruising gear for economy. You can lug 4th and 5th gear from 1509 rpm and it will do the same damage to your engine. You can buy one of these and drive it on the highway every day you might like the drone and screaming engine. I sure didn't.
IMO the resale on these being better than the GTI is more due to production numbers than anything else. Elantra N's are few and far between while GTI's are a dime a dozen.

@MotoManTV sure. 1) The manual is one of the best today. 2) I'd driven a CTR and knew this was a pimped out version. 3) I don't like the looks of the EN at all.
Lol
Honestly at this point let them compare us to a civic si
@triikpikachu9754 I know the nline below the N competes with the si, dosen't the gti also compare with the nline too??
@@closg9309, the dealer comparison is not valid. I have a stage 2 tuned MK7.5 GTI, and the two dealers I dealt with always denied my warranty services in my area. The dealer depends on the dealer itself, not the manufacturer.

Some of the hate is justified but the N cars don’t deserve it. These things are reliable and worth consideration
Hyundai/Kia warranties are useless, not worth the paper they are printed on.

Sorry you had that experience! My experience buying my EN was mostly hassle free and I got it for msrp
Buying my car was hard work, you just needed to put in the time and be willing to travel.
Temu can take care of the wired apple carplay.
I don't think the car is made to be taken "seriously" in the same vein as porsches are but rather to be a whimsical daily for younger people that's still attainable. They're also far more available on dealer lots than Type Rs and GR Corollas.

Haha thats true with the 2020 Sí I thought tho thats how most 4cyl manual transmission cars are tho or else the engine will be at harm due to lugging it if it is below that 2.5k-3k rpm level .
You’re comparing a V8 to a 4 cylinder engine? Are you for real?
It isn't geared the same way. It's significantly improved
IMO the resale on these being better than the GTI is more due to production numbers than anything else. Elantra N's are few and far between while GTI's are a dime a dozen.
And VWs are even less reliable than any Hyundai.
MK7 and 8 GTI is extremely reliable, and has fewer recalls/problems than the N.
The N drags both of those lol
The N rules!!
No wireless carplay is inexcusable. Just like my Mrs' new Q3, no standard wireless carplay. However, daughter's new Taos comes standard with wireless carplay. Make it make sense.
For a FWD performance sedan the only cars that compete with the Elantra N on value is the WRX and other Hyundai/Kias lol.
In the states, if you don't do at least 350hp. Your not allways considered serious.
276 horse power u mean
wish they still made the veloster n
Thank God for the blessings we have to live in such a wealthy part of the world and have many opportunities to enjoy cars like this and other fun things. Praise Him and get into His word. Drive whatever car you've got to a local Church of Christ and make God your priority.
This is performance car. No need for sunroof.
It's optional
Completely disagree with your take on the face of the car, "only a face a mother could love." I think the entire car looks great
Young single people should. Not for families
Just don't hit hit the N button and your wife will never know.
@@psewgobind Impossible challenge for car guys xD that burble tune goes too hard
When i got my 2022 the white was the only free color. All others was 200$
Amazing Video.
Want this car but because of certain people seeing the kia or hyundai logo I'll probably end up with broken window
Nice shoes, M! Very appropriate for the occasion. ;)
Thank you, sir!
Did the engine blow?
MY23 N has a heavier clutch than MY01 S2000(19K ODO) and MY13 BRZ(43K ODO).
How does the driving compare?
@@michaelnguyen2975 If the AP1 and BRZ had a four door baby, the N would be it.
The manual is over 1 second slower than the dct 0 to 60 -_- damn
A bit more but don't care.
"Broken car people"... I know EXACTLY what you mean! 👍🤣
Great video!
My pleasure!
The new target should be SPORT HYBRID!
i'm pulling up to anyone's house who complains about his opening monologue and references.
Owned a VN KN and 2 EN's Probably the only person in the states that can say that.
Id come back to a KN new model or a EN if we got EU seats and better ride choice
Theres zero reason the car rides the way it does other than Hyundai wanting it feel like a race car.
With 18' wheels, suspension turning for daily is perfect. I have the 19' sitting in shed for track day.
yeah great personality with alot of hidden baggage like, faulty injectors, dct issues that cause limp mode, factory hpfp so bad you need to replace it with the sonata hpfp to even tune for okay power, and a community constantly posting about how hyundai isnt honoring their warranty. fortunatly god blessed me with a failure while i was test driving a brand new one. left the dealer and ill never consider a hyundai again.
I think people do take these pretty seriously, I see about 5-7 of these for every 1 Type R or GR Corolla on the road. Probably because Hyundai offers an automatic and they are quite a bit more affordable.
Yes! Internal Combustible engines with 6 spd manuals. Save the manual then Hybrids. Then, I will be too old then. lol
Had several kias. Only had issues with one. It ate cooling fans.
Hyundai has came a long way ahead 😳‼️
What is a money downshift?
This is way better than gr corolla
Engine blew up on my Veloster my dads Elantra qhen we went to the dealership it was 9 cars in front of us with rhe dame problem. none of them were an N modle and neither was mine or my dads it was also a stinger with a blown up wngine but also it was the lower range engine
I wouldn't take any Hyundai product. Seriously, I wouldn't. My 2022 Sonata NLine with just 21K miles has been in the shop 120 days as of this post due to electronic shifter issue. The Hyundai dealership in Hendersonville TN USA just lets the car sit because they cannot repair / don't know how to repair / or don't give a shit. I opened a case with customer NO-Service and that was a total waste of my time. Even with an attorney on the case Hyundai does not communicate and all I get from the dealer are lies. Crappy product and even worse communication. Buy another Asian brand with shorter warranty that you will never need.
Imagine the amount of girls you would pull if you had this in highschool.
I concur,. After 70,000km of around town (Downtown Toronto), my 2023 6MT EN is as easy to drive as my old Civic. Still drives like new, but got new manual transmission at 60K because of minor leak through the seal (no cost). I suspect it's because I took delivery in worst winter storms in a decades and it was constantly dragging through snow well above the ground clearance.
I have a 2017 hyundai elantra limited with 140000 miles and the engine is locked i still owe 2500 on the car have been paying it and cant even drive it over a year i get it when people say they blow but that was the non 2.0 engine i know the 1.6 t is a pretty good engine there dry dct 8 speed is not that great and even after all that im thinking of trading my elantra for a n not sure if it would only last 140000 miles like my old elantra or it would last more
I’ll take the VW GLI / GTI over this car because it’s just a little too boy racer, fast n the furious for my taste and I trust VW’s ea888 engine over any Hyundai/kia product cool review nonetheless
Lol you trust a vw engine over HMG engines 😂
@@popsandbangs8858 The 888 is the most reliable engine VW has ever made. Also the 7 speed dry DSG doesn't have any problems. Both beat Hyundai's in reliability.
Integra Type S owner here...I never even considered an Elantra. Very very happy with my Acura.
Intrigued. Three reaons why?
ITS is $15k more out the door
@MotoManTV sure.
1) The manual is one of the best today.
2) I'd driven a CTR and knew this was a pimped out version.
3) I don't like the looks of the EN at all.
It helped that I waited a year after the ITS debuted. I managed to get a brand new dealer "show" vehicle that had $8k in options/accessories for MSRP. I had offers from other dealers with bare bone ITS' and they were asking $49.6~. I got to keep the OEM rims/tires and obviously got the bronze rims with the PS4S too.
4 year loan @ 6.19% but I'll have it paid off by end of year two (no prepayment penalty). I was interested in a new CT4BW prior, but they're starting to list them (with a manual) for more like $70k pre tax tags etc.
