    Lets all be honest here:
Civic Type-R is the car here but....... F*** those dealers with the 15-20k$ markup, juste because of that that car is way overprice for what it give
Mustang = great car, but..... not practical at all, its more like a week-end car, forget about it in the snow, its a terrible winter car
GR Corolla = Ahahahaah!!! Terrific car fom Toyota but....... This is a track car that can't track.......Yessss the transmission overheat after 2-3 hard lap... that is terrible, terrible. See GR corolla on fire over the net lol
Elantra N = yes, spec wise it is the worst, but it beat all the others cars with their biggest flaw:
There is no 15-20K$ markup on them unlike the civic type-r, The car is pratical (4 doors, fwd for winter driving) unlike the mustang, The car is ready for track all day long, it wont overheat or catchfire like the corrola GR.
Just to be clear I am big fan of Honda.
But for me Elantra N tick all the box, he is good at everything but master of none. Elantra N is the winner

A great review by the crew at Edmunds. Many thanks. Regarding prices, Type R; $45,890, GR Corolla; $46,000, Mustang; $56,400, Elantra N; $35,320. Regarding the Mustang, thank you Ford for still making the Mustang and making it available with a V8 and with a manual transmission. Considering that the Mustang did not have the magneride suspension, and the tight course, it performed very well in the autocross. The big surprise for me was how the underpowered Elantra N performed in the autocross test, with beating the GR Corolla and being pretty close to that of the Type R. In my opinion, with the Elantra being the cheapest here, and by a big margin, with what it achieved it is the winner. It is terrific that there are still fantastic fun petrol cars available. Any of these cars will bring great joy to their owners. :)

Elantra N goes faster than the gr corolla on their own autocross course while being down significantly on power. The elantra N has the fastest fwd production laguna seca time despite being down 40 hp to the type r. Yet the handling is put behind the gr LMAO.
Maybe rename the handling section to subjective reviewer opinion. I dont know how you could argue it handles worse while being faster with less powerr

    • @30hours51
      @30hours51 5 месяцев назад +16

lap time does not suggest great handling, handling is a translation of cars feedback to the driver and driver's confidence pushing the car to the limit, GRC with its awd, swb and it's extremely rigid chassis makes it handles better because it is easy. Also EN is on PS4S, Corolla is on a less aggressive PS4 tires.
Also every single independent track test suggest that the GR Corolla is faster than the elantra N on the track with the same tires, but let me continue.
In 2024, none of these cars had tried a official lap time at Laguna Seca...
But EN is an absolute performance bargain for the price of a GR86 today, recommanded my friend to get one, great car.

and DCT is faster than manual in a straight line, and with an extra gear it has better top speed than a manual? WHATTTT SUCH A SHOCKER!!!
Also GR corolla has extremely short gearing because guess what, It's a great car made for dirt roads and enjoyment at all season, I am saying this even if I don't think GRC is worth the price
EN is a great car as well, but I hate it when owners like you make it look like such a egotistical car by blowing it out of proportion into a category that either doesn't matter or numbers that are misinformed. Just to make other cars look bad for no good reason

Spending more for more power will let you go faster, pretty obvious. Thing is, the EN can go straight to the track without overheating in a lap or two, or killing its OEM tires, or catching fire if you go over 85mph. (Which Toyota won't cover under warranty). The Elantra is also the only one that offers an advanced DCT transmission for those who prefer modern technology. It truly is an amazing performance car at any price, and a bargain at $35K

That's the only advantage that GRC has over CTR - if you guys did 1/4 mi instead of 0-60 I bet the difference between CTR and GRC would have been even greater in flavor of CTR. Love the idea of bringing the cheaper car to the comparison. Shows us the consumers how much more we're actually getting.

These cars straight line performance wise are considered 'slow' nowadays after Hyundai released the I5N and Tesla the 2024 M3P (U.S. version).
You would have to invest some serious money to get an Elantra N into the 10's constantly without having to put in wrench time every couple runs. Jason did an 11.65 after hybrid turbo and running meth and some other upgrades ... slicks and on the track (not on the street which isn't prepped and with legal tires mind you) and still didn't beat the previous model M3P. Golf R would be easier but costs more... would have to swap out the Turbo most likely to get into the 10's which will fuXor your warranty on these cars. Tesla M3P (U.S.) for 47900 (after tax credit and no dealer markups lol) is the best bang for the buck now. Avg. of 10.8s in the quarter and 2.7 sec (w/rollout) 0 - 60mph anywhere really... no need for drag radials/slicks or prep :P There is no other *new stock car that can touch those #'s for under 50k!

Hyundai's previous generation Elantra (2015 to 2020 USDM) looked the best, inside and out, *BY FAR." I'd love to see one of those with the powertran from the current model year Elantra N... maybe even with the addition of all-wheel drive. Can you imagine what kind of a monster that little thing would be? I sure can, and I want one! I've never said that about a Korean product before, but I'm saying it now.

@@Symphoniics correct… when someone wants to buy an auto, they get an auto. But 90% of the people that are interested in this class of car are interested in the manuals. If you buy any of these cars trying to flex straight line speed, you’re not worth trying to explain it to

@@AM-one6 As I said in another comment, that's not true. 90% is exaggerated. And hey, I cross-shopped the CTR and EN DCT. I ultimately chose the EN because the infotainment is better, exhaust is way more fun, and the suspension is better for daily driving. I chose the DCT specifically because it matches the CTR's performance better than the manual, and the DCT it an absolute hoot. Super fast shifts and awesome sounds on upshift.
