Drinking 16 glasses of water or 1 gallon of water has helped my eczema a lot. I think it’s just a way for the body to flush out whatever allergens are attacking the body. Good for gut health. Everytime I get flares I start drinking water and keeping tab of humidity levels. The flares visibly go down but at some point it is hard to control. I just developed eczema so will keep you posted…

Shocking that most of the foods to avoid mentioned here are the ones everyone recommends for a healthy diet. Are these recommendations meant as a temporary solution to get rid of eczema, or are these foods to be avoided forever, cause they will always trigger eczema? OK, after reading some comments, this is not meant as a permanent ban on those healthy foods. Let's try it. Oh, boy. Garlic, eggplant, beets, onions, radish, ginger, nuts, tomatoes, citrus fruits, kimchi. First, I will cut out the garlic, ginger, tomatoes, onions, which I eat frequently, and nuts. Thanks for this video!
I think when your immune system improves, sometimes, your allergy goes away too and hopefully, if you like them, you can still have them occasionally in the future :)
I always say this after I discovered that I have eczema and some kind of histamine intolerant and autoimmune disease, that I feel like I can not eat anything anymore and everything is bad for me 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄 my life is messed up
It can feel that way because change is very hard. It's not so much that there are no other things to eat but eating outside of what we are used to can feel very very challenging in the beginning. Stress will not help the problem. So try to take it one step at a time instead of thinking about changing everything overnight. I'll try my best to post as much as possible under my "Eczema" highlight on instagram and hope to make videos real soon to help with making easy recipes that hopefully give you more ideas. Take care for now and remember, you've got this! :)
@@dawnforlife Thank you so much! Can't wait to see your new videos! Your videos are really really helpful to a new eczema patient like me. I'm really thankful. Thank you. God bless you.🙏
Well, at least you love beets :) You can still try, it's just a general rule. It may not apply to you when you have in moderation and see no problems with it.
I really appreciate your video and I'm sure it's gonna work, but sometimes it comes to mind the though: should I really stop eating all these foods? Is it worth? The most of them are so healthy (at least what they doctors say) and they are so tasty. Should I stop for instance eating tomatoes therefore tomato sauce, including soups, spaghetti, salads and all these meals that include tomato sauce? There are so many foods that I should avoid. It's weird and it's make me feel so sad. It also make me feel that I'm different from the other people. It's sounds kinda dramatic but I think that people with eczema know this kind of feeling. Anyway, I just wanted to say my thoughts and say a big thank you for supporting us and giving us hope :)
I KNOW! So many food with tomato and I actually love good quality tomato sauce. My approach has been this way, when I am not flaring up, I have it in social settings and maybe even cook some myself sometimes BUT as you can see with my recent vlogs, I have been doing too much "experimental" things eating the "no foods for eczema" and I am suffering from a lot of flare ups. Also because of stress from raising a toddler and lack of sleep. I get what you mean though but when I actually flare up, I think it is not worth eating them 😆😆😆.
This video has been so helpful! I flared up from last saturday and it was because I drank hot chocolate and many vegan cheeses which are made of nuts.. it makes so much sense haha! Let's get back to clear skin again instead of dry and a little bit red :D
Eczema can also be caused by damp food not just heat food. Fructose malabsorption can also cause eczema. My eczema cleared up avoiding fruit , fructose, sugar (damp foods), lactose also. On a diet high Cheese, nuts, meat , dark chocolate , oats and rice syrup and still clear skin, we’re all different
I’m nearly 30 and it’s depressing to know this information, I’ve had it all my life, when I went travelling for a year in Asia in went away but then came back with power when I came back. Mine is mostly from climate change but thank you for the info
mm..coconut amino, some himalayan sea salt? Over time you may also learn to taste the true taste of something and your taste buds will become more sensitive :) You can also try cumin and other dried herbs that are cooling to the system :)
Melon you said is good for eczema,my daughter suffers from Eczema and she can't tolerate melon even tho she likes the smell always makes her mouth itchy and hurts her tummy!
Your are right, all the taboo food that u mentioned are my favorite.. High heat food. I am suffering from eczema for years. Radises, ginger, chilli, mustard, tomatoes are to be avoided. Even moringa leaves aggravate me. And btw I like sour food and eat fermented food frequently. 😔. I guess I have to clam down on that... Yes, in ayurveda too much tamarind is not recommended. TQ for ur post. Recently, I am trying out an SOS diet(salt, oil, sugar free diet) , this gonna be shocking for alot of people. I have started to get skin allergy daily, lumps like mosquito bites. Itch like crazy. Since especially the salt free diet, my skin feels much better. Those interested can google SOS diet and do your own research. That doctor makes lots of sense. He talks about fasting and SOS diet. Much love. Stay health. It is our only true wealth. The foundation to life. 😘
Perhaps try some home made fermented food that are less sour? Like freshly made yogurt are really not that sour and good for your gut! I agree! No health, no wealth!
I believe that all autoimmune diseases including eczema results with a leaky gut.. Heal your gut and say bye bye to eczema psoriasis and all other autoimmune disorders. There are lists of food to eat/avoid available on Internet which can heal your gut. I healed my psoriasis by healing my leaky gut. Constipation, hemorrhoids, allergies, sugar cravings, junk food cravings all are signs of leaky gut. I hope this comment helps
thank you so much for this comment .. it really helped me .. because now my research into leaky gut starts to make all sense.. and i am now water based fasting to heal myself .. Alhamdulillah
There are many more food out there and if it doesn't cause more flare ups, you can totally have it in moderation and when you are healed, you can have them all again :) This is just a guideline from my Ayurveda knowledge. You find what feels good for your body. No hard rules. :)
Take neem leaves and put it in hot water fr 10 - 15 min then let it cool then take bath in it . ....i will try and let u know guyz they say neem tree leaves are very effective
Hi Dawn good morning from Malaysia. Besides being very informative your videos are also very good for stress busters. If I may say so you have a very pleasant disposition n charming way of presenting. Keep it up. I used to take lots n lots of pineapple before my eczema bout started last year because it was good for battling flu n cough. Think I overdosed on pineapple n being sour in nature maybe that really caused my eczema to literally erupt. What do you think

@@dawnforlife If my daughter touches mango skin, and then touches her face she gets an itchy rash! She used to eat mango off of the skin and realized her lips were swelling and got itchy. If she eats peeled mango she's fine. What is on the outside of the skin, that is not in the fruit? Is this a natural allergen or pesticides possibly? Though we used to try to buy organic, now she avoids mangos altogether. Not worth the hassle. Cashews cause itchy skin as well, on me and my daughter. Are they really related to the poison ivy plant?
I see so many people suffering in these comments. To all those who see this PLEASE look up the WIM HOF METHOD! This removed my eczema and makes me feel superhuman! When it feels like there’s nothing else you can do to help your condition maybe, just maybe this will help x
I think it's great, maybe warm water so the vitamin C doesn't get killed off. Ayurvedically, lemon is heating though but personally I think the benefits outweighs that. If you have lime easily available, that is more in line with Ayurveda and eczema.
@@dawnforlife It surely did. Been struggling with the eczema for sometime now. Going vegan now and hoping that the "gyaan" from your videos work for me too. Thanks
Hey..in Ayurveda, most skin problems are caused by similar imbalances. I have no personal experience with seborrheic dermatitis..but my tips for natural/toxic free and quality food living should help with it :)
Hey Beki, I'd suggest organic almonds soaked for 12 hours, rinse, blend and strain for creamy homemade almond milk. If that's difficult make sure to get organic almond milk with just water and almonds (no oil or preservatives/flavouring). Always in moderation when it comes to nut based items if you have eczema. :)
My dad told me that I may have a allergic reaction since the day I came to my dad's I got this dry things on my skin theres a little on my hand and arm and one near on my eye and my lips too the upper lips and just yesterday I got it to the half of my lips😫 it'll disappear right even u wont put smtg on it?
Moisturize with a good quality cream. Makes sure it's hypoallergenic, no perfume, no paraben & no alcohol in it. And drink lots of water to help rehydrate your skin. Avoid scratching at all costs. If it's really itchy, just put cold wet compresses on the spots that are itching to calm it down. And then moisturize.

Hi Dawn , I just want to ask you do all types of eczema involve itchiness ? I ate a citrus fruit then applied a new lipstick, then my lips turned dry, scaly, swollen a little bit and hot 🥵 without itchiness!!! Is this eczema ?
Hey Naif, sounds like an allergic reaction. Most probably some ingredients in the lipstick that you are sensitive to. I had a same reaction to a lipstick that was even rather natural in ingredients. Mine took over a week to go away with pure vit E as moisturiser.
dawn for life in Switzerland Thanks a lot for replying to me 💜 Actually I have been applying moisturizer for almost three months without seeing any results 😩 I also used cortisone creams with no significant improvements .. Any advice ! And i will use vitamin E . Hope it works

May I ask are organic raisins dates and watermelon ok to eat with eczema? Are cucumbers and avacado safe to eat with eczema? Thank you so much for your help and patience . Much love to you. 🕊💗💗💗
Garlic and onions are actually inmunoregulator food so unless you actually have an allergy to either of them they should be a fundamental part of your diet. Citrus also help boost the inmune system so they should be a part of your diet
Hi im new to the channel, I found it interesting that you mentioned meat as being a poor food choice. Based on the paradigm shifting work of many researchers and medical doctors helping patients in supervised medical care, it appears the carnivore diet (meat based) has significantly ameliorated and in some cases fully resolved such autoimmune/inflammatory conditions such as eczema. Have you heard anything of this?
Hey Austin, no no no, don't get me wrong! hehe I'm not saying meat is a poor food choice. If you've seen my other vids or follow me on instagram, I always advocate for whole foods over processed foods and when it comes to meat, it is important to know where it comes from and how the animals were raised. Organic, free range, grass fed meat are very healthy, depending on our body type. As for my own experience, in terms of healing my eczema, I followed the Ayurveda way, where meat is categorised as "heating" and since eczema is also "heating", my experience of avoiding till it is cleared, helped me heal. At the end of the day, I think we have stick to what works to heal AND then it is important that we will heal to the level where ALL food groups can be in our diet without problems. Real food of course :)
Beef, lamb, reindeer and other red meats, as well as pork all make eczema worse. Alternatively, organic and free range TURKEY is shown by doctors trained in BOTH Chinese medicine and western medicine to be ok for people who have eczema. Definitely not cured turkey though - animal based nitrates and nitrites are problematic. (no immediate reference available, but I can look for one...) Whole-food, plant based diets are best. Check out nutritionfacts.org. Also not mentioned to be beneficial are true whole grains - not previously milled. When the fiber from whole grain reaches the large intestine (colon) they feed good bacteria (probiotic) in the most natural way. You don't need to buy probiotics, your body will do the job by itself. Again, check out Nutritionfacts.org.
@@dawnforlife Solid reply, I appreciate that you've taken the time to respond. What you said makes sense, I am new to the Ayurveda way. Thanks for clarifying.

Lol thank god with the nut one cause I’m allergic but it still does suck because I have to be more cautious
I think when your immune system improves, sometimes, your allergy goes away too and hopefully, if you like them, you can still have them occasionally in the future :)
What about purple sweet potato ? Because i love to consume it
Yum! Go for it! :) I love it too! :)
batati? it's not high in heat so eat as you like.

dawn for life in Switzerland I found out the problem was I was eating foods I was allergic 2
OMGOSH I love Beets! I juice beets and carrots. I love onions, I love garlic ☹️ now I’m depressed
What is the link for the probiotic supplement?
This video has been so helpful! I flared up from last saturday and it was because I drank hot chocolate and many vegan cheeses which are made of nuts.. it makes so much sense haha! Let's get back to clear skin again instead of dry and a little bit red :D
Oh nooo hahaha yes! Nuts and chocolate are extremely heating, same in Traditional Chinese Medicine :)
So happy you found it helpful and connecting the dots! =D
Did you have sugar in your chocolate
My daughter gets flairs with chocolates. It took me 5 yrs to catch the culprit
Thank you for making this video! I'll try to avoid these foods! :D
It's not possible for me to avoid orange juice.
Damp inside the body can indeed be a cause for skin problems such as eczema
My eczema cleared up by eating a high fruit diet. I had 20 years of severe eczema. 10:31
I’m nearly 30 and it’s depressing to know this information, I’ve had it all my life, when I went travelling for a year in Asia in went away but then came back with power when I came back. Mine is mostly from climate change but thank you for the info
what did you eat when you were in Asia? When you came back you went back to your regular diet???

Hey dawn did you say go choice raw cacao instead of cocoa because the cocoa will have sugar and are have heat? Thanks
Yes, raw cacao has not been roasted, so the heat element is not there.
@@dawnforlife thanks alot xx
I feel both onions and tomatoes trigger my dyshrotic eczema on my hands :/ food without onions/garlic taste bland though :/ how do u flavor it.
mm..coconut amino, some himalayan sea salt? Over time you may also learn to taste the true taste of something and your taste buds will become more sensitive :) You can also try cumin and other dried herbs that are cooling to the system :)
Hey, once the eczema clears up, can we start consuming these foods?
If it doesn't trigger you, I would continue to eat them and certainly reintroduced when it all clears up! :)
Vitamin c and cranberry pills help me alot and omega 3 as well.
what about Milk/ Dairy products didnt hear anything about them?
Melon you said is good for eczema,my daughter suffers from Eczema and she can't tolerate melon even tho she likes the smell always makes her mouth itchy and hurts her tummy!
If she can't then wait it out. What melon did you try. Watermelon is the best, and organic.
Amen . Himalayan Salt not tooo much in American Store's ,please mor e clarity or clarification on Himalayan Salt.
If you use pure sea salt, just go minimally when trying to heal. Salty sweat makes it more itchy in general.
My hearts broke when i heard onions ☹️
I don't know why, but red onions don't bother me.
Good thing it's only raw onions.
what about kombucha?

What about pickles and spicy pepper?

Caitlina!!! Yay!!! I'm so happy for you! Thank you for sharing your healing journey with me! =)
if you got eczema etc fungal infection like candida. I think chocolate is the food you should avoid because is high in mold
Thankyou maam
Constipation, hemorrhoids, allergies, sugar cravings, junk food cravings all are signs of leaky gut. I hope this comment helps

literally most of these foods are the staples of my Asian household, I don't know if I can even avoid it..... 😂 oh no
There are many more food out there and if it doesn't cause more flare ups, you can totally have it in moderation and when you are healed, you can have them all again :) This is just a guideline from my Ayurveda knowledge. You find what feels good for your body. No hard rules. :)

Oh my goodness I have the same problem, although don’t eat it as much. I had it ones in an empty stomach it was not good for my stomac. Ached for a few days unfortunately
Soooo, what about the mango?
Organic mango in moderation is fine. :)
@@tahoe7779 I know someone who likes to eat mangoes but if the juice of the mango touches their skin (even lips), a rash will develop

What kind of meats to avoid with eczema, and which ones are good to eat?
yaa
Hi avoid chicken as its high in histamine and cause itching 👍 not sure about the other meats but yep thats all I know 💖
Avoid chicken, seafoods such as shrimps, Crabs, lobsters, Squid.
What about dates, jaggery and coconut oil? They're warm too?
They are find. Jaggery is sugar so perhaps in moderation :)
fine*
Fermented food is bad. Is that mean I can’t have miso soup? I use miso paste to make a quick soup.
How about lemon with hot water to drink?
I think it's great, maybe warm water so the vitamin C doesn't get killed off. Ayurvedically, lemon is heating though but personally I think the benefits outweighs that. If you have lime easily available, that is more in line with Ayurveda and eczema.
After 4 years of following ayurveda I agree 100% with everything in this video.
I'm glad you do :)
High in heat? What are you saying sorry I can't understand what you mean by high in Heat...

Would you suggest avoiding almond milk?

If I cook the tomato still it will have heat effect?
Yes but you can try. If it doesn't flare you up or cause more itch then you can have some but I'd say remove the skin if you do try. :)
Tomato isn't really the problem it's the seeds that's what I've found out with my eczema
Btw dawn. What do u think of petai? Do u think i should avoid petai?
Petai has a bitter taste, which makes it cooling. Go for it! Yum! hehehehe
but usually it is cooked in chili or with anchovies..both of which..not great for eczema..so...unless you like it the way it is :p

Hi Dawn ,
I just want to ask you do all types of eczema involve itchiness ? I ate a citrus fruit then applied a new lipstick, then my lips turned dry, scaly, swollen a little bit and hot 🥵 without itchiness!!! Is this eczema ?
Hey Naif, sounds like an allergic reaction. Most probably some ingredients in the lipstick that you are sensitive to. I had a same reaction to a lipstick that was even rather natural in ingredients. Mine took over a week to go away with pure vit E as moisturiser.

(no immediate reference available, but I can look for one...)
Whole-food, plant based diets are best.
