I've had severe chronic eczema since childhood. One of the skin creams I use now is: Avène's "XeraCalm Lipid Replenishing Baume". It must be the baume tho, not the cream. I love it. Works like a charm. Prior to that, I was using the La Roche Posay Lipid Replenishing Baume Lipikar AP+. My new dermatologist gave me a sample at his office during consultation with him in July 2018. That product was life-changing for me because it calmed my eczema down to the point where I stopped scratching. I used it non-stop until La Roche Posay discontinued it in February 2021 (smdh). So, I had to scramble to find a replacement. Thank God for Avène.... they're getting all my money now lol. Check it out.
Of course, eczema is a multifactorial health issue, and the info above was only addressing the topical component. I had to make lifestyle changes to keep inflammation as low as possible inside my body because I was already dealing with severe sleep deprivation from eczema and the daily, non-stop skin trauma from eczema. I live a healthy lifestyle, I eat vegan (I focus on eating plant based, because vegans can still be unhealthy by eating lots of processed foods), I exercise regularly, I don't drink alcohol or smoke anything. Plus there's many other lifestyle changes I had to make over time. I want to keep my body has happy as possible and not piss it off. Because once my eczema gets angry, it's horrendous.
Anyways, hopefully the skin product info is helpful to you.
      Much love 💗✨

THIS WAS GREAT AND RIGHT ON TIME DR. STEPHENS. I just started with this so called Eczema in my early 60s and still have not found a good dermatologist who knows how to treat it correctly. I have placed an order for the cream and serum you mentioned in the video and have already implemented most of your suggestions, which are definitely on point, especially the patting. I also notice when I use cold or ice water, it helps a lot. A P.A. I visited did prescribe a good steroid ointment which you have to be careful because it will thin out your skin. I use it very sparingly and only when the symptoms gets too unbearable. I also find that using the CeraVe Ointment helps a lot and when I scratch too hard which creates blisters or cuts, my good old Neosporin helps. Thank you for taking the time to provide all the helpful tips.

My eczema only flares up when I don’t moisturise. If I use heavy moisturisers and moisturise after showering and obviously thick moisturisers on my face, I can keep the eczema away. But if I forget a single area I will get the red rash. It’s hard to find thick enough moisturisers that keeps my skin moist all day/night. Also ceramides really helps mine to look and feel better. 😊

Thankyou veru much !! Had the same thought. And i have eczema and i can tell after years of research it begins in the body, in your intestines. 9 of 10 times the most of diseases begins there. Therefore you need a strict dieet, no meat, sugar, carbs etc. The body of people with eczema cannot process certain waste products, which results in irritated skin. You will also conduct research into Ayurvedic methods of treating diseases. Most old and most effective + most substantiated information about how to treat diseases. This goes very deep.

The biggest things I’ve done for my eczema is getting all cotton sheets and pillow cases putting a air purifier in my room and buying screens that help block out pollen from my windows and the next big thing was taking cooler showers and now all I use is colloidal oat products like aveeno and taking oatmeal baths which did wonders especially in the summer when my skin is more irritated. My body care and skincare routine has oats in every step I can’t live without them and making my own oat mask with the aveeno 100% oats.

Hi Dr. Stephens! I just battled with a bout of eczema. I finally got some answers, and my contact allergy to nickel has reached new heights of systemic nickel allergy syndrome. The experience was miserable because not only did I have a recurring rash on my neck, but I had welts on my left leg. So, I researched high nickel foods, got a glass water jug, increased my omega-3 consumption, and began taking vitamin C after every meal (don't do this willy nilly contact your doctor). I also understood I had to keep the rash on my neck hydrated. I began applying the Vichy 89 thermal water, applied trauma over that, and then castor oil with an organic flannel to protect it. I have some hyperpigmentation from the rash, but I'm okay with working on that slowly. I'm just grateful I found you and some other derm's on RUclips. I knew to get myself to the doctor and get allergy tested again. Thanks!

I have tried many of the Necessaire's products. I feel they are a luxury brand (for me).
I have eczema on my scalp, eye lids, around the eyes, checks, lips, chin, neck, hands, and specific places on my body.
Fragrance and any combination of cocamidopropyl or betaine affected me. It is so hard to find a cleanser without cocamidopropyl. I had a shampoo that I loved, Seen, but now they added cocamidopropyl oxide, so i can no longer use it.
Products that have relieve my flare ups:
Beekman's pure soap bar has been great for my body becauseof the goat milk. For my face I use Vanicream cleanser and Aveeno calm and restore. I also like Epi.logic face cleanser with rosehip.
I like Cetaphil cream in the winter time and the aloe in warmer months for body.
I discovered other brands for eczema. Gladskin for face and body.
Unscented Company makes skincare, bodycare and household/laundry cleaners.
Tower 28 is a makeup brand that is helpful if you have eczema.
There sunscreen that really seemed like a foundation was wonderful for my face when it was flaring.

@Fyhgvjc the only vitamin c product I use is Naturium. I use the vitamin c serum during warm/hot weather and the Multi-peptide moisturizer, which has vitamin c in the winter. If I have a flare-up of eczema, I do not use anything because I am using medication to resolve it.

Dr. Stephen’s, I tremendously enjoy your informative videos. I would love you to do a review on the La-Roche-Posay Anthelios UV correct SPF 70 Broad Spectrum Lotion! I’m absolutely in love with it. I’ve tried so many other higher SPF (currently using Arazlo , and Cyspera) sunscreens and they all have left a horrible white cast. I suffer from Melasma , hyper pigmentation, breakouts and sensitive skin , so it is super important for me to protect my skin from the UV rays. This one here! Goes on smoothly, and feels like a light moisturizer, and does not feel oily in the humid conditions of South Texas. A little pricey, but worth it’s weight in gold!

I wish doctors in general were more willing to test for conditions more often instead of eyeing and guessing, right now I'm going through a rash on my feet where a doctor assumed it was ringworm and was treating me for it and after almost three weeks of not seeing any results I finally managed to get a referral for a dermatologist where they also just looked at it and prescribed me a cortisone cream, to this day I still don't know for certain whether its Ringworm or Dermatitis, I know steroid creams don't work on ringworm and could make it worst so I'm pretty much hoping and praying that its actually Dermatitis. If you're a doctor and you're reading this, please for the love of god stop your ego trip and just give your patience biopsies just for the sake of peace of mind, uncertainty is a cancer in the mind of someone who suffers from depression.

Theres alot of research saying after a long period of time using moisturizer on the skin, your skin can be dependent on moisturizers, it can change your skin’s natural balance of water, lipids, and proteins. The result? Your body will stop delivering the skin’s normal, natural method of hydration from within. So initially lotion may help eczema but in the long term wont it only keep your condition around even longer? Can anyone help me change my mind?

Can you make a video on how to treat hyperpigmentation, patches and uneven thickened skin, that one can get from eczema scar? I'm 36 Yr today and I've been dealing with bad skin and dark spots all over my body and face since I was little. I can't even remember when I looked myself in the mirror and though I was beautiful. I hate it so much. I'm really thinking of traveling to the US or UK just to get help with this. Being black with eczema in Scandinavia is so not easy 😞
