    1- use lukewarm water in the showtime
    2- use moisturiser right after the shower
    3- don’t use drying soap bars
    4- use chemical exfoliants (like lactic acid, retenoids, salicylic acid)
    5- moisturise with urea and glycerin

    Avoid hot showers
    Moisturize onto damp skin with urea and glycerin
    Moisturizing washing soap

Rest of my legs are ok, but I am bothered by the visibility of the hair follicles. I wasn't able to complete my laser treatments due to scarring from an accident. But I don't shower in hot water, I use both salicylic (Neutrogena) and lactic acid products, I do moisturize while the skin is damp (I use coconut oil). Texture feels great. I appreciate you.

    • @jdbailey442
      @jdbailey442 2 года назад +3

      It's an autoimmune disease and there is a correlation with vitamin deficiencies. Mine developed from being vegan long term. Once I stopped being vegan no more spots appeared and the spots are repigmenting. The derm has me on 2 creams and I am a part of a research trial with a eczema cream that helps some patients with repigmentation. Mine is my bikini line which is a small area thankfully. I hope this helps. Feel free to ask me any questions.

    • @tj817
      @tj817 2 года назад +5

      @@jdbailey442 I have had mine most of my life since 10 and it is usually stressed induced at it’s worst. Since mine returned about 4 years ago, I have been using red clay mask. Red clay has been known to help with repigmentation; it has almost helped about 80%. I am in the 1% of the 1% to have asymmetrical vitiligo and it is only on one side of my face. But I think the majority of people know nothing of this Illness and more needs to be done to learn about it. They now sell dolls with different skin conditions to promote awareness but not enough.

    Thank you for this! My 11yo daughter has it on her legs and back arms. Mostly legs. I tried Amlactin- hate the smell. It helped a little bit for a while.

    Hi! Can I use the Olay Cleansing & Renewing Nighttime Body Wash with Retinol instead of the Olay Nighttime Rinse-off Body Conditioner with Retinol? Is there a difference?

    I had some of the bumps on my arms, but mainly on my upper part of my legs. I am 60 years old and the more that I exfoliated the worst they got, and I couldn’t figure out why. I also moisturized right after, but that didn’t help. I started dry brushing, and my skin is bump, free and so extra soft and smooth. I did use good products for exfoliating, because I also have very sensitive skin so I had to be very careful but it still didn’t help. Mind you mind weren’t as bad as some people but they were still there and it bothered me. It’s worth a try ladies.

    i used the neutrogina salicylic acid orange wash , a little went a long way ( i put like a pea size amount on my hands and activated it on ny face , and then kust eyeballing it to see how much product was enuf) it helped my legs ^^ i also reccomend eucerin , cerve thick body moisturizer in a jar, (walgreens has a dupe for it for cheaper options carve has been getting expensive) or cetaphil moisturizer too

    Hi Dr. Stephens,
    Thank you so much for all your great advice! I am struggling with this condition and have been exfoliating and using Cerave rough and bumpy cream for about 3 weeks now. How long do you think it will be before I see results?

    • @anabishop6700

      Hey Kendra! I also used cerave rough and bumpy lotion paired with the body wash and my skin cleared up within a few months. I would wait a few more weeks to see some results and highly recommend using the rough and bumpy body wash as well! Hope that helps!

    Hey doc! could you briefly explain how the concept of “cell regeneration” and “permanent scarring” can coexist? It’s something I’ve been really thinking about 😵‍💫
