Hi Dr. Alexis, I was wondering if you would be interested in making a video on taking care of the underarm area and how antipersperants affect the skin in that area. Thank you for making these videos!
Currently ordering the Venus product via Amazon. Your videos have been helping my life! "Twin" where have you been?! LOL!! Thank you for your helpful and life saving videos. You're awesome and beautiful as well girl. Continue being radiant.
The Venus razor is the same razor on several men’s razor and even one of those womens brands sold at Walmart that was less expensive. I bought 7 razors and discovered half of them were the same just different packaging and price. I returned all of them and bought a mens open comb safety razor and blades. Best shave ever and good Blades are so cheap I can change blades as often as I like. I learned about shaving from watching a men’s shaving channel.
I started using the cerave retinol on my face and it worked well I started using it on my bikini area. When I say it lightened that area and no ingrown hairs.
exactly, bc i’ve tried both upwards and downwards and still get bumps. whenever i rub upward tho i feel the prickly hairs ( a couple days or so after i’ve shaved ) and then downwards it just feels soft. so which way is it growing? i’d believe upwards so would i shave upwards?

First of all Doc... you're freaking gorgeous! I have never been able to watch a full video on skin stuff but you explained everything so well and didn't even notice the 15 minutes went by so fast. Thank you so much. This was greatly helpful.
This is so helpful… I have been struggling since I was 13 with these issues and generally untreated, because I’ve had other pressing issues. Needed this! Can you do a video or point me to one that you’ve done, on extremely dry lips? My daughter struggles with this and I have tried everything including drinking tons of water, beeswax and she’ll be good one day and right back to cracked, peeled, bleeding etc.
I hope the doc answers but as someone with a similar issue and it's going to sound awkward but nipple cream. I have extremely dry cracked lips even with good practices and a lanolin-based lip balm or just a tube of nipple cream which has the same ingredients for cheaper changed my life!
Oh my God, Dr. Alexis !! I’ve been looking for you for a while.. it’s Bebe ( hair braids in Houston) when you where a medical student. Great to see you here. 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
So glad you mentioned pustules. I have them hormonally every single month for close to 40 years now. I mentioned it to my gynecologist but couldn't seem to get any answer and yes it seems really weird to explain that I have pubic acne, but no one seems to help me still. I had a gynecologic surgery recently and I again begged the doctor if there was something that could be done with one I have had for more than a year. She said yes she would, but then she did nothing again. Sometimes they take years to go away, and it's not even where I need to shave.
Physical exfoliation is only recommended 2-4x per week. Chemical exfoliation varies depending on the actives and composition of the individual product. I use the magic stick from kokorose daily and it’s a life saver
Thank you for such informative content. I don't know if you have discussed this before, but if not, would you do a video about acne on the back, shoulders, and chest and how to safely get rid of it, and the hyperpigmentation caused by that?
Not sure if you have sensitive skin but I use diluted detol and exfoliate with it . This may irritate some people but my skin is so clear and like butter exfoliating with it and using a proper moisturizer after . Again it may not be for everyone but my mom introduced me to it years ago as a teen and I never turned back 🥳
She absolutely right, laser hair removal was the best thing I ever did. Money well spent, if only I knew earlier. Ingrown hairs were the bane of my life. Waxing, shaving and using epilators gave me the same results.

the 10 COMMANDMENTS for PREVENTING RAZOR BUMPS & INGROWN HAIRS 1. THOU SHALT NOT USE DIRTY BLADES! Avoid shaving with dull, over-used razor blades. And be sure to keep your slightly used tools as clean as possible. Scrub the cutting heads of your tools with soap, hot water, and rubbing alcohol to destroy bacteria. Pro Tip: even brand new blades still need to be cleaned. 2. HONOR THY DELICATE SKIN! Avoid too many blades! If you are prone to ingrown hairs then you don’t need 3 or more blades. More blades equal more passes causing the hair to fall beneath the skin and become ingrown. Plus, more blading the skin leads to micro cuts through which bacteria is more likely to enter and this leads to razor burn. 3. DO NOT TAKE PREP TIME IN VAIN! Wash or steam the skin for 2 to 3 minutes with warm water. Then apply the shaving cream leaving it on for at least 2 minutes to really soften the hair. 4. THOU SHALT NOT GO AGAINST THE GRAIN! Shaving against the grain (upwards) may get you a closer shave but doing so also increases ingrowns. Shave in the direction of hair growth…it’s usually downwards. Confirm this by doing a face/ body inspection to see which way your hair grows. 5. THOU SHALT NOT PRESS! Avoid pressing too hard on the skin with the blade. If you follow STEP #3, then a gliding, light touch is all you need. The hair stubble should literally fall away with little or no pressure from the blade. Pressing hard is the main cause of shaving irritation! Be gentle so as to prevent the hair from being cut so low that it falls beneath the top layer of skin. 6. THOU SHALT NOT PASS, PASS, PASS! Avoid too many quick passes with the blade. One pass per hairy area - going 1-2 inches downward at a time - will prevent ingrown hairs. Always shave like you might cause damage, not like you’re mowing the front lawn. 7. THOU SHALT NOT COMMIT OVER SHAVING! Avoid shaving too often. This rule is hard to follow, especially if you have to be beardless for your job…but if you are prone to ingrowns, try hair removal with electric clippers (the barber kind of clippers). The results are not super close but no one but you will know the difference. Provided your skin can handle these alternatives try waxing, depilatory, lasering or an epilator. 8. THOU SHALT NOT CLOG! Avoid using skin/pore clogging creams or lotions since they keep hairs from growing up. After a shave, keep your skin bare; let the tiny army breath, and allow those newly shaved, microscopic hairs to grow out just in time for the next shave. If your objective is smooth, bump-free skin following a shave or wax, then right after hair removal allow the skin to heal first. Promote healing by proper shaving techniques followed by 70% rubbing alcohol which kills any bacteria that may enter those micro cuts created from the shave and prevents the onset of razor burn. Sure your skin will be a little dry at first but this is a temporary tradeoff. Wait 2 hours then moisturize. 9. KEEP THY SMOOTH SKIN FREE! At least for the first day or two, try to avoid tight fitting clothing around the Adam’s apple (neck) and/or below the waistline region. Newly shaved hair follicles need room to grow up. 10. REMEMBER TO EXFOLIATE! Whether you shave, sugar, wax or epilate, not enough exfoliation to remove excess layers of skin can lead to ingrown hairs. There are two types: chemical exfoliation (AHA, BHAs) and physical exfoliation (beads, coffee scrubs, gloves, brushes). Use the WIZKER ingrown hair brush as directed. When you follow these 10 tips religiously, you’ll prevent razor bumps and ingrown hairs permanently!
Hi Dr. Alex, hope you and your family are well. I was wondering if you have a video or could make a video about facial hair, specifically under the chin and neck and how to prevent hyper pigmentation and ingrown hairs in that area. Your videos are really help. What is your take on shaving with creams such as Nair?
the 10 COMMANDMENTS for PREVENTING RAZOR BUMPS & INGROWN HAIRS
It may be that the things you recommended in this video would work for that too, but I’m not sure
Loving this. Thank you for always bringing good content to us to keep us looking good Dr. Alexis. I always come to you first when i want to learn about a product or what ingredients means.

Do you recommend using the moisturizing creams everyday or just the days post shaving? Are they necessary after sugaring too?
Great video, but it doesn’t say how to get rid of hyperpigmentation in that area.
You are so beautiful! And so knowledgeable!!! Thank you, so much
This was JUST what I needed!! Question though- can you exfoliate and shave right after? Or is it recommended to exfoliate one day then shave the next? Also how often would you recommend to replacing your blade?
In the video, she stated that she recommends exfoliating a few days prior or the day before, but not the same day you intend in shaving.
