As an older, uncircumcised man, I trim pubic hair, NOT as a "fashion" statement, but because longer hairs get caught in my foreskin, and it can be quite painful. I doubt I would ever go the waxing route, but I might some day. Thanks for addressing this issue.
I'm not old but I'm almost 40. I'm also uncircumcised. I just got into the waxing kick and I love it. It removed all the unwanted hair. If you try it find someone that uses a hard wax. It removes the hair and doesn't pull the skin. I get Brazilian waves about once a month now.
@@sircorkysriley4904Of course, be proud because that's how it should be, like all of us of that beautiful part of your body, like your irresistibly beautiful flower for making love.
I got folliculitis the first time I shaved completely down there, with the skin turning purple too. Had to use a cream for two weeks and it was SO painful and uncomfortable… Learned my lesson the hard way of shaving with instead of against the grain, but also that its the healthiest option to opt out of shaving that area. We grow hair there for a reason, and as long as it’s kept clean there’s no problem🤷♀️ I don’t feel like arguing with Mother Nature about this one
I do not shave my pubic hair, but I do keep my razor in a plastic cup and a small amount of mineral oil. Razors rarely get dull, but rather they develop microscopic pitting/corrosion. The mineral oil prevents air (oxygen) from attacking the razor’s edge. My last razor (Gillette Fusion 5-blade heads) lasted 5 months of incredible performance.
Started grooming 35 years ago when women said they much preferred the look and cleanliness of a completely shaved area, I have never had any of the problems you noted because you must do several things to avoid it. Use ONLY hair conditioner...soap is not as efficient. Change your razor at least once a week and most important -- shave every day in the shower....the hair never gets a chance to become ingrown. These days...non shavers look a bit odd because we have become so used to grooming.
Great u mentioned the specific risk for Diabetics. Totally objective- informative- non-judgemental. To me the primary reason is obvious- the porn & fashion industries totally promoted even required it. There is a reason "hair is there". Weird cultural "follow the sheep in front of you" mentality. I feel so sorry for young women- early-mid teens.
There is also a reason for foreskin, bruh; yet, people unnecessarily circumcise their sons (most of whom do NOT appreciate what was done to them, permanently, without their consent). 🤔
I use sugaring and laser hair removal. The problem here in Oklahoma City (our state capital) is that most places won’t serve men’s pubic area. All said they would do my back and a small few would do the butt. It took a lot of searching to find a medical professional who would laser all the areas I wanted done. I’m American Indian and get tan very easily so laser hair removal is not an option in the summer so I return to sugaring. This fall will start my second year of laser hair removal and I’m hoping that eventually it won’t be required. I’ve been trimming/shaving my pubes since I acquired a serious impetigo condition in my groin during junior high school wrestling. It was a serious infection that required hospitalization for IV medicine.
I shaved for 40 years. On a crazy birthday idea I went in for a waxing. Been waxing for 5 years now. Waxing works far better than shaving. I been with my wife a long time and we both stay nice and smooth.
Started genital grooming in the '80s, at first with mustache scissors, then soon switched to plucking. My method doesn't exactly fall into any of your categories, but isn't too different from waxing/sugaring. What I've done since early on, is use a piece of masking tape (cheap & plentiful!), grasping the hairs between tape & thumb/forefinger. I guess I have higher-than-average pain tolerance, for this one process anyway, because I don't much mind yanking dozens of hairs at a time. Some zones are more sensitive than others, though, and I'll wince more for those. One of the pros of plucking/waxing/sugaring, as against shaving/trimming, is that with the latter, the hairs are growing back from skin-level, right from time-0, while with the former, it takes 7 to 10 days for them to reach skin-level. So you get a week+ of smooth skin. One of the cons is that you can't re-do the area until the hairs are long enough to grasp firmly. Fred
@@davidpetersen1 It's a matter of degrees. While I can tolerate this process, I would, for instance, not even come close to considering genital piercing. Yet there are plenty of guys & gals who get those; some get multiple piercings. Ouch for real!!! Fred
I would get painful infections every single time I removed the hair on my upper inner thigh...I guess the "bikini area." It didn't matter how I removed the hair it would get infected and I would have this big swollen knot, sometimes two at a time, in the same area. It would make it painful to even walk. From the photo shown on the video, it looked like folliculitis. I thought it was ingrown hairs. Anyway, I finally said no more of this years ago and stopped removing that hair. I haven't had a problem since then. I was newly married at the time I stopped and my husband was all for it. He saw me suffering with those infections and having to lance them myself or go to a doctor if it was too painful to do on my own, so he encouraged me to go natural. Fortunately I am not very hairy and my hair is dark blonde so it isn't a hairy garden down there, lol. Not to give TMI, but in my opinion, pubic hair makes sex better. It adds friction and grip. That may sound funny, but that has been my experience. Also, because as the doctor said, the hair holds the pheremones we produce, I believe it attracts your sex partner. All (most?) of us love the scent of our romantic partner, and so removing all the hair down there mutes your natural sexy scent. JMO
Glad for you being satisfied with your decision. Many years ago however, I discovered that pubic hair can be very annoying getting caught in the zipper, and resolved to remove it then I noticed my organs feel far more sensitive to pleasure, I can feel my balls tight and excited something that the hair seemed to block. Also it feels clean not messy or sweaty. The only thing though it is vital to rid of hair safely and changing razors weekly is part of the safety measures Dr Malik referred to. No pubic hair for me
@@jpcodnia9133 I'm dead serious, but you should probably talk to a therapist because you may be porn damaged if you get arousal from a shaved vagina. And also because that's a thing preteens have only. And if your concern is hygiene, shaved genitalia is the most disastrous you can go, it's super unhealthy. And also, how the fuck does your pubic hairs get caught in a zipper? Don't you own underwear?
I waxed my pubic hair when I was in my early 20's. Then, except for the occasional individual hair, it never grew back. I just tweezed the individual hairs and now they are very rare. I wish that happened with my leg hair, but no such luck.
About 20 years ago my son told me that he had never seen "bush" except in old Playboy magazines. I use an electric beard trimmer with a guard on it to start off. Then I use a Gillette Fusion razor that vibrates to get a really close trim, being cautious not to go against the grain. I don't use any shaving cream, but make sure the area is clean and dry before I begin. I do use some Nivea after shave moisturizer when finished. Until I started "manscaping", I never realized how much hair was actually on the shaft, so yes, shaving can make you look bigger.
No matter what I do, whether it's waxing, shaving, treatments, or anything in between, my skin does not like being bald! And that's for my whole body not just the sensitive parts. I'm forced to be hairy. My sister has the same issue. I think it may be our hair pattern. Curly hair everywhere. Head and body.
Be proud of your curly hair everywhere. I prefer to be with natural unshaven women. Never understood the need for shaving and the smooth look. Bald does not turn me on. I cant make love to a woman who looks like a little girl "down there".
I really like being pubic hairless as it definitely makes the sensation different and much better. I wish I discovered the increased sensation of being shaved hairless makes much earlier. Pubic shaving is not for women only as men gain a sensation advantage as well.
I always appreciate your professionalism in your videos. Personally, I find natural body hair on men more masculine and attractive. I don't mind a trimmed pubic hair, but a shaved or waxed pubic area looks a little too prepubescent for my tastes.
You do know that medical staff shave that area ahead of performing various surgeries down there, right... They do it for HYGIENE (which makes better sense than circumcision, which should be a decision by the owner of the penis just like any other grooming decision). Hair loss for cancer patients receiving Chemo or Radiation ALSO causes pubic hair loss as well. 🤔 No "pornography" or "pedophilia" associated for these circumstances, bruh. After Chemo and/or Radiation, the pubic hair does not grow back for years and, when it does, it is patchy.
@@mgardner18 What part of "_After Chemo and/or Radiation, the pubic hair does not grow back for years and, when it does, it is patchy._" did you NOT understand? Many cancer patients/survivors "groom" down there through/beyond recovery, nitw!t.
I've noticed I get clean shaves when I don't moisturise I always has to stroke multiple times before the hairs are completely gone . Since I started shaving dry, the blade doesn't have to work as much, all hairs are gone with fewer strokes, and my arms don't get tired that fast.
Love your content doc it is really helpfull and educational. I shave alot and some if not most of the time bumpes apear and watching video, it had shed some light on how to do it properly.
I’ve been shaving using regular facial razor; and use hair conditioner instead of soap. After shaving I use ozonated coconut oil with frankincense oil added. Never had any issues. I now shave my partner for her
One of the most obvious male specific questions on this topic that would be nice to hear covered in a follow up video is any specific tips regarding shaving scrotum hair which is notably different from regular skin hair.
Perhaps I can help. I have always been aunatural or mildly trimmed. My current girlfirned ... well, let's say she enjoys spending time down there. Because she likes things smooth I shave for the "attenton" it gets me. While I sill maintain a trimmed patch on top, my sides, scrotem and that stretch of land between our scrotum and anus, that's all smooth too. I have tried fresh razors and it can be hit/miss especially if we get those raised hair bumps from where the folicals come out, those lead to razor burn for me. One night I decided to take my electric razor, the one we would use on our face. I tried that. It's nothing fancy, maybe just a $40 one at Walmart. I really like it. As you may know, you can't get cut and as long as you keep your skin tight, around the scrotum or places with a lot of "play" in the surface. it works like a charm. Start by cutting your hairs as low as possible, this helps the electric razon grap them. Make certain your underside is dry and not moist/clamy. This will effect how easily the electric razor glides across the surface. The girlfriend freaks out with how we can pull on the scrotum skin without pain. This really makes shaving it easy. Yes, on occassion I may still use my 5-blade razor in the shower, but as you may know ... the pain from a little knick can last a few days, so unless I want to "gamble" with pain, I just stick to my eletric razor. Lastly, to help avoid the EWWWW factor, shave down below after your shower, and soap up the area as if you were taking a razor to it. This will help you feel confident that it's "Good N Clean"!!!:-) ... once done, apply some lotion to the area and let it air out before getting dressed. This is what works for me, I hope it helps!
@@chcgostyle Totally agree. Electric razors are way safer than a blade one and they cause less ingrowns on me. I usually do it after shower and use a hot-towel compress while I do my face mask.
U mean shaving Balls. Hm the main Reason hair grows in pubic area is to keep Temperature in an appropriate level for ur Balls to be Fertile, I guess even eggs coz they need a certain temperature Both. Now when u keep it shaved more than unshaved, u risk. U may be clean but lose Fertility
Very informative video. You covered a lot of issues we need answered. However, I would like to know what is your opinion on electric shavers, especially the ones being advertised for pubic hair removal.
Great watch and great tips. I'm definitely guilty of getting skin irritation when I don't remove hair properly. But yeah thankfully nothing ever serious yet.
She needs to incorporate physical demonstrations ...not rely on vegetables and crude metaphorical imagery as if this was some kind of silly comedy. This is real life, Dr. M, but you insist on treating the content as if you were some two bit late night comedian.
Personally, I prefer an unshaven woman, and for myself, friction is not only reduced by pubic hair during sex, but at all times-I find the sticky, prickly feel resulting from shaving or too closely trimming my own pubic hair unpleasant.
Same here. Maybe the style will make a comeback. Women today like the shaven look, but on a woman I like some hair. Not full bush, but a shaven, trimmed bush.
I agree. More women need to remain natural. They can wax/laser their armpits. I used to live with an older woman who was natural, and she didn't like it if I trimmed too much. She told me that she wanted me to remain looking like a man down there! I honestly only trimmed to look bigger.🤣
Agreed - nothing wrong with a little manscaping, but with no hair at all down there things tend to stick together, which is uncomfortable. It also seems a bit unnatural. I get the hygiene thing but it's not that difficult to stay clean without being shaved. Same goes for women - I want to be able to see that I'm with a mature female, not one that's too young to be fully developed
In my experience, I've cut myself more with an electric shaver than a razor. The skin of the scrotum is so thin that it will easily get caught in the zig-zag part of the shaver. Not fun.
I remember shaving once and got folliculitis so bad that I was on an antibiotic cream and 2 oral broad spectrum antibiotics for a month. It just would not go away and was spreading. I'm both Diabetic and taking immune suppressing medication for an autoimmune disease. It sucks and since avoiding shaving of any kind dysphoria is really destroying my mental health.
After brazilian waxing I got a lot of ingrowm hairs. I didn't liked the result. But laser hair removal gave me just clean perfect skin. So I'd recommend to try it if other methods are not suitable for you
Great vid.... great presentation with language easy to understand and without you talking just to hear yourself talk(also u are VERY easy on the eyes 😉). Thanks for your work!👍
@@mygirldarby, I wouldn't say epilating and waxing are the same. The results of waxing last longer, it takes longer for the hair to regrow compared to epilating and shaving. In my opinion, epilating is more painful than waxing. Also not all epilators are suitable for the genitals. The more modern the epilator the bigger the chances the pain would be less though.
That's what I do, too. The only complication is when the skin of my scrotum gets jammed in the teeth of the epilator. That is NOT a pleasant experience! 😂
I have not looked into it much but it seems like it could regulate temperature, provide immune function, be immunomodulatory for skin, regulate the microbiome, etc., e.g. ask what is the purpose of hair itself.
I shave my chin against the against the grain so I can get a closer shave. I hate hair on my neck poking me when it gets to long. I've never had ingrown hairs so what's the big deal with going against the grain, the whole point is to remove the junk as close as possible. It feels so good after it's all shaved off.
This has to do with the testicular area. I've tried hair removal cream and it burns to the point I need an electric fan nearby during application. I tried shaving and get ingrown hairs. And I recently nicked myself, for the second time, using a beard trimmer; the first time required taking antibiotics because it was getting infected. I'm at my wits end, I'll try ceramic trimmers that were specifically designed for the testicles. Thank you for this video!
Just let your hair grow! It's the way nature made you. Some people just aren't made to remove their hair in that area. It's not worth it to get infections, etc. Only your partner will see it and they won't be thinking about your hair anyway. A lot of people actually like their partner to have pubic hair.
One reason for the modern habit of removing pubic hair, was the advent of the Pill for single women, back in the late 1960's, which coincided with 'Flower Power' and the 'Summer of Love'. This led to a big increase of STI's, which included Lice. Gonorrhoea and Syphilis were easily cured with Penicillin - this was before the advent of HIV/Aids - but Lice were the easiest to cure; which is how shaving again became popular in women. This was increased in popularity, by the depiction of clean-shaven women in mens magazines. A large number of young girls reaching puberty also decided they didn't having like hair-down-there, especially when having their periods, so shaving became even more popular. Personally, I'm all in favour of a nice bush on a woman, because not all lady-parts attractive; in fact, some are downright ugly. I have no objection to women who trim their bushes, especially if they are the hairy type, with a large Briar Patch of thick, curly hair; not appreciated if they want me to go down on them.
After dad taught me how to shave my legs I started shaving everywhere. I'm not a fan of waxing so I don't do that and don't care for the burning sensation caused by hair removal creme. But agree on the sharp razor I learn that one the hard way. After shaving for this long I don't like the way hair feels and I don't believe I sweat as much when that extra insulation is gone. Great video Dr.
As a male I shave, too. In my pubic area I shave leaving a 1” x 2”wide strip. Now I have shaved it all off at some point but it’s just the preferred look. On women I like a full bush, but trimmed. I know many like the full shave nowadays.
A great video, thanks. Can you please make a video on the topic of male genital mutilation (or circumcision)? This is a topic that needs more attention. There is so much misinformation on the subject.
She has done associative videos... The facility where she works does not do infant/adolescent circumcisions; the owner of the penis is the one signing the consent form.
I've been grooming and clean of hair ever since I had pubic hair (45+years). I used razors, then hair removal and now a home EPL laser. Now my hair is very fine if growing at all. I don't have any problems with ingrowing, etc, apart from occasional burn if I left the cream on to long. For me it's so much cleaner and more comfortable and visually better.
I am really hairy and always wanted to try waxing, but was scared to do it. I would trim close to skin with beard clippers but wouldn’t shave. I’ve had a few exes who didn’t care for my body hair and wanted me to wax or even get electrolysis. When I was single for a few years, I then saw the movie BAD MOMS CHRISTMAS, and when Justin Hartley got it done, he was cool as a cucumber and didn’t flinch - and I thought, if I ever do it, I want to be as cool as him. So I researched different places in 2018 and picked one of two places that specialized in waxing. I picked one closest to where I worked - all the aestheticians had at least 5-10 years experience waxing everything. I did a lot of research and read reviews, checked to see if they’d done men, cause many places don’t. I watched and read stuff online about waxing in general, tips videos and articles about how to prepare. Biggest thing that helped is having a shower morning of, I actually try to book when I have nothing else that day - in morning I take two Tylenol or Advil, and a turmeric pill. I then take another two at lunch, and about half an hour before my appointment which I usually get done at around 4-5pm. Also the place I choose- They don’t do anything else. They also used a hard wax which was better for parts like the testicles. I get my downstairs waxed with a full brozillian. And in spring and summer I wax my beard which grows in fast, so when I shave it can grow back quickly - leading to razor burn on my dates, even a few hours after shaving. But with waxing I can go with a smooth face for about two weeks. Although I haven’t been dating in years 😂 … last fall I even tried doing my armpits which actually feels nice. I’ve had my back done before a few times. When I got my first tattoo on my lower left leg, I waxed both lower legs a week before the wax, and got a mani/pedi the morning of the tattoo or maybe the day before. I rarely get any ingrown hairs, maybe twice in 5 years. I did get some acne like bumps but never any puss or itch. I went without waxing for awhile. My waxer said it wasn’t anything to worry about, I emailed them and sent a few photos, and the shop owner said it’s ok and when I had a checkup my doctor also said they weren’t anything to be worried about. They all said just spend time doing stuff like exfoliating the area, use tea tree oil cream, etc. I like the feel of my skin after being waxed. I haven’t been with anyone though since I started doing this. My ex said it makes me look younger. And I’m pretty good with it, I don’t flinch at all. My aesthetician says I’m an anomaly, many men don’t do so great, some even shed tears or ask the waxer to wait a bit between pulls. For me the worst is when she has to go in and use tweezers to get any strays - that hurts more than the pulls!
@@monosodiumglutemate8216 I wrote a lot but honestly it’s not a lot of work. And I like the option of being able to grow it back in. If I ever do laser it would be more for like manscaping areas not total removal.
I suggest the Gillette Venus For Pubic Hair & Skin. It is available as a battery powered shaver and a blade razor. It is designed to remove pubic hair by pressing the skin down and out of the way. Give it a try, it's not for women only.
Converted my partner to using a straight razor with home made shaving soap, she has never looked back best cleanest smoothest shave ever no problems with ingrown hairs etc.
yes i do .like about every 10 days or so sometimes every 2 weeks roughly and i am male . WOW THE HISTORY u gave . i had no idea it went that far back . when i was a trucker i started to do it and one reason was cause the hair was pulling and hurtin making uncomfortable to set long hours .
I've never shaved down there, I feel it gives you more options: plait it, ponytails, pigtails, buns, pixie bob, braided, updos, go straight, go curly, go shaggy, go layered ... so many creative options when your pubic hair is down to your shin.
I got chemical burns on my testicles one time from Nair, let me tell you one of the worst things I have felt in my life. Could barely move around without pain
To the member's of BSC (Ball Shavers Club). I use Bodygroom electric shaver and apply triple anti-biotic cream (Neosporin) and there are no problems. For everyday I use Gold Bond Oatmeal moisturizer for my Balls.

I am in my mid 40's and i don't bother with pubic hair anymore. I just leave it alone. I asked my 20 year old daughter about it and they said they stopped caring about pubic hair.
Type 1 diabetic here, complete with history of poor control. Thanks for shouting out Fournier's gangrene, I have never heard of this before and I'm almost 40 😲 It's good to know.
I’m an old guy. All the women in my family have been hairless for years. I don’t really care one way or the other. None of the men I have ask care. We don’t understand any of this beauty industry. What we like is, as Elvis said, “a little less conversation and a little more action!”
I prefer waxing personally but found a place that only does waxing, and all the workers had excellent reviews and full bios online, with years of experience. I also read a lot online and watched videos with tips about how to prepare going in. I get my down below done but also my full thick beard.
So I have been shaving my pubic hair for many, many years (I’m a male, by the way). I only leave a 2” strip vertical patch, for looks. On women I like the pubic hair, so long as it’s trimmed up a little bit.
Great video! Can you comment on certain commercially available grooming devices such as the Manscape hair trimming kits seen advertised on YT and other places? I've been using it for about 3 years myself and have great success with it.
Reminds me of the old joke about how to get rid of crabs, shave one side, crabs head for the side with hair, and when you're sure they're all in the hair, gently sprinkle a little lighter fluid on the hair, light it on fire, when they run out to the shaved side... STAB THEM WITH AN ICE PICK !!!!
I’ve been shaving for at least 20 years now, why? Two reasons, the most practical reason being it’s just more comfortable for me. I am not an excessively hairy man, but early in my 20s my hair started falling out. Originally it was due to the chemotherapy for my intestinal cancer, which came back four times. I hated when it started growing back, because it never grew back on the top of my head, so I just keep shaving my head to make it look even. Because I am quite fair-haired, I can’t even grow a moustache or a beard. If I tried, it just looks like a prepubescent, boy, thin and sparse. So I figured why not shave everything except my arms and legs? I noticed after shaving pubic hair and chest hair, it felt a lot more comfortable, especially in the summertime, so I’ve been doing exactly that for 20 years now, give or take a few years. Because I sweat a lot, especially when I’m cycling, which is my passion, I find it so uncomfortable, if I have pubic hair, especially when the pubic hairs start poking out of my spandex shorts, something every male cyclist knows about. The second reason is I just like the way it looks, and because a friend of mine introduced me to Toronto’s very own legally nude beach on the Toronto islands, a quick 15 minute ferry ride from the Main waterfront, it just felt so much better not to have hair. At first, I was a little uncomfortable, but after a while, it became almost addictive, even though I know, it’s definitely not for everybody for me sensation I’m just standing there, naked as the day you were born, with the wind blowing against you, the hot sun, hitting your body, or feeling the water should go for a swim, it just feels so much more natural. As I said, I’m not really a hairy guy to begin with, but particularly regarding pubic hair, because of my heavy sweater, it just feels so much more light and airy not to have any hair down there. Surprisingly, a lot of people, both men and women, shave everything, so I’m not the only guy in the world doing this. Most of my friends laugh at me, and tell me I look like a girl, because my skin is so smooth with no hair, but it has nothing to do with what people think, I do it, because I enjoy the feeling. The only difference is with me I use an electric razor, something that isn’t too sharp against my skin, especially when you’re shaving your genitals, you do not want to cut yourself, I learned that the hard way. It only takes me 15 minutes, and it’s just part of my daily routine now. Other people opt for hair removal products like Nair, and other creams or lotions, I only tried it once, and I will never do it again, because it burns and leaves my skin beat red. The biggest thing you have to watch out for is infection, or growing an ingrown hair, often a common side effect from using a razor in very sensitive areas. Anyways, that’s my two cents. Chances are if I wasn’t such an avid cyclist, I probably wouldn’t shave the pubic hair as often, but when I ride, I go for at least 50 to 100 km a day, and when I have pubic hair, it seems to cause a lot more chafing, making it much more uncomfortable. But a word of warning to male cyclists, because you’re basically sitting right on your prostate, now that I’m 54, I learned the hard way that it causes a lot of prostate inflammation, along with a lot of urinary tract problems, so because I don’t do it professionally, just for my own enjoyment, I bought a bigger seat with a thicker gel pad, and I try to use my legs instead of sitting on the seat, problem solved. I know that has nothing to do with pubic hair, but I just wanted to throw that out there, because I had no idea until I started having problems, urinating, or ejaculating. It was all because I was cycling too much using a bike that had a seat far too small and too hard….anyways, thanks for listening, let me know if you guys feel the same way I do, take care! And as always, thanks for the video, my day is not complete without watching you!
Dr Malik, If you read comments..... You could teach your patients to use hypochlorous acid topically for these follicle and razor burn issues. It can be purchased as "Hypochlor" by Ocusoft, Vetricyn by Innovacyn (at pet stores) and Puricyn by McKesson, Research hypochlorous acid and find it safely defeats every type of microbe.... The Vetricyn Gel, sold at pet supply stores, is the best value for the same product. My wife uses it for inflamed hair follicles due to her liner used with her prosthetic lower leg. It can be used as a urethra sanitizer for people prone to UTIs. One could drink it safely....
Not sure which way the grain runs "down there," as opposed to on my arm or leg. Also, in the caption at 5:10, "seEmingly," not "seAmingly." Shows just how closely I pay attention to your videos!
I’ve never had this issue (I’m a male) except on the groin area between by legs. I shave down to my penis and around my scrotum. All done with a beard trimmer to prevent burns. Then I use a normal shaver in the shower.

I wish people didn't have to worry about the details of how they look, in particular skin processing, hair processing, piercings etc., especially when they are linked to trends. I suspect it may correspond with increased usage of the Internet and "just normal people" investigating pornography.

I’m going to try that on one of my cheap razors
@@Velo1010high quality razors are recommended
I shave a bout twice a week, I love having no hair down there I feel smooth and clean
Dad always told me cut the grass and trees look taller. 😁
Your father told you such things

Thanks for the input but... Ouch.🤣
@@davidpetersen1 It's a matter of degrees. While I can tolerate this process, I would, for instance, not even come close to considering genital piercing.
Yet there are plenty of guys & gals who get those; some get multiple piercings. Ouch for real!!!

Do you happen to use WD-40 for hair removal too?
@@Theoryofcatsndogs Gee, I'll have to try that!
You go first, and post a video of that technique, so I can see how it works . . .
JMO
Right about pubic hair being better, especially when the girl is hairy
Had you considered using a beard trimmer just to trim in down, but not trimmed down to the skin?
Glad for you being satisfied with your decision. Many years ago however, I discovered that pubic hair can be very annoying getting caught in the zipper, and resolved to remove it then I noticed my organs feel far more sensitive to pleasure, I can feel my balls tight and excited something that the hair seemed to block. Also it feels clean not messy or sweaty. The only thing though it is vital to rid of hair safely and changing razors weekly is part of the safety measures Dr Malik referred to.

Disagree but it's a choice
Mine is based on sexual arousal and sensitivity to touch as well as hygiene
@@jpcodnia9133 I'm dead serious, but you should probably talk to a therapist because you may be porn damaged if you get arousal from a shaved vagina. And also because that's a thing preteens have only. And if your concern is hygiene, shaved genitalia is the most disastrous you can go, it's super unhealthy. And also, how the fuck does your pubic hairs get caught in a zipper? Don't you own underwear?
I would love to have you as my Doctor. You know your stuff, and more importantly you can explain it.

Try cooling the area. Sounds crazy but ice it with a ice cube beginning, during and after. See if that helps!

Be proud of your curly hair everywhere. I prefer to be with natural unshaven women. Never understood the need for shaving and the smooth look. Bald does not turn me on. I cant make love to a woman who looks like a little girl "down there".

As a guy, I shave because I think it looks better and don't want a hairy crotch. Like wise I like the same for women. Trimmed or landing strip is fine
I really like being pubic hairless as it definitely makes the sensation different and much better. I wish I discovered the increased sensation of being shaved hairless makes much earlier. Pubic shaving is not for women only as men gain a sensation advantage as well.

Me too, been doing the wife for years, she says I can see better down there!
Why oh why?
I’ve always shaved mine with a razor with zero issues. Take your time and use a fresh razor.

Very informative video. You covered a lot of issues we need answered. However, I would like to know what is your opinion on electric shavers, especially the ones being advertised for pubic hair removal.
Just my opinion but I think a well trimmed bush on a woman accentuates the area greatly and for me, is a turn on.
You didn’t mention electric trimmers for men. Especially on the ball area
👍👍👍 yes
Women☕ doesn't know all bro
In my experience, I've cut myself more with an electric shaver than a razor. The skin of the scrotum is so thin that it will easily get caught in the zig-zag part of the shaver. Not fun.
@Flynn Spunks - I learned like that to keep the guard on and just keep it short as peach fuzz.

Maybe try an electric trimmer? So it doesn’t cut the skin. There are a lot of different kinds now.
Very informative video. I've always also heard that to shave an area you have to moist it first and then cut it in the direction that the hair grows.
Just use a hair clippers and trim down close and a razor width all around and down. Got into some clubs where most was shaved.

Thanks for your work!👍
Great video doctor. One method that wasn't covered is the use of an epilator. My gf uses this and loves that it takes longer for the hair to return.
An epilator pulls the hair out too, like wax. It hurts like hell!
@@mygirldarby Less painful in a warm shower, I've been told by my gf
I will never shave again
I'd like to know what men's magazine you're reading, but the ones I know (including the best-known, Playboy, which STILL does it), all include hair.
I use an epilator which is a little painful first time you use one but after that if you use it regularly every 4-5 days it’s no problem.
Sugaring works much better than waxing for me. No ingrown hairs. I get sugared every 5 weeks.
take it from someone who has had a scissors accident down there once before, I'm still reconsidering trimming the grass ever again
I have been grooming or shaving smooth my genitalia for over 30 years ago
Hi Doc, you forget the professional laser or home based laser hair removal. Both option work well.
Hello sir can I ask a question from you
I am really hairy and always wanted to try waxing, but was scared to do it.
You're really strong and brave...😊

Great video! Can you comment on certain commercially available grooming devices such as the Manscape hair trimming kits seen advertised on YT and other places? I've been using it for about 3 years myself and have great success with it.
I use 80 grit sandpaper. Provides a glowing, rosey color, makes me groan, gets my heart pumping and I fall asleep after all the stress.
🤣
Lol
A lot of good information that should be in paragraph form, bruh (for easy reading)...
Too much boring information that no one care about
@@andrewarthurmatthews6685 then why are you reading it? If you don’t like it, tough, no one’s forcing you to read it!
I'm a dude and I like smooth clean area
(also the shaft looks big)
Just looks and feels soo much better with no hair down there.
I have sensitive skin and I would pass out or go into severe shock if I was waxed
You are absolutely correct hypochliorous acid is a game change
I have been doing it long before it was cool for men to do 25yrs+
being a man, use philips norelco electric and the back blade 2.0, both can be bought from bed bath and beyond and target
Perfect timing for this video. Thank you for the helpful advice.
I like carpet. Hardwood floors are for dancin'. Or whatever some guy said, whenever he said it
Lmfao😂😂😂
I hope that you’ve recovered from your cold!
Not sure which way the grain runs "down there," as opposed to on my arm or leg.
Also, in the caption at 5:10, "seEmingly," not "seAmingly." Shows just how closely I pay attention to your videos!
I'm a woman and I get ingrown hairs all the time in places I have never once fully removed my hair (only trimmed)
I’ve never had this issue (I’m a male) except on the groin area between by legs. I shave down to my penis and around my scrotum. All done with a beard trimmer to prevent burns. Then I use a normal shaver in the shower.
I'm a man and I used to have the same problem. For me it seemed to only happen when my hair was first growing in and stopped in my early twenties
Yes true many gurls women have ingrown hairs down there and do cause damage to penis during intercourse or during penetration, ,,,,,
@@Velo1010 Use manscaped lawn mower and you won't have nicks and cuts.
@@Reap3rUSA I must not understand how to shave. I've purchases the Manscape Lawnmower trimmer, and I usually end up with a cut or a nick every few times I shave. I have no idea what I'm doing wrong.
I like Lubraderm skin lotion for shaving, though I have tried water-based sex lubes too. All the traditional shaving lathers do not work for me -- they have weird chemicals in them that irritate my follicles.
Wait, so burning it off with a plumbing torch isn't the right way?
😕 I tried manscaping my pubic hair once, but I didn't like it. 👎
She talks like a surgeon! About pubic hair and it’s removal.!Specialist she seems to be.
Laser hair removal baby! I had that done downstairs and my armpits and it's awesome!
I just use Nair which is a hair remover/defoliant and there is no risk of cutting yourself
How safe is it.?Most ppl complain about very painful side effects.
I've learnt so much about fruits, eggplants and avocados from Dr. Rena's informative thumbnails and videos. 😂
The first time was under doctor’s orders to prep for my vasectomy.
One option that was not discussed was leaving it alone. Trimming it at most.
THANKS Doc ! I've wondered how many folks do it. Had no idea. I think they do it "for the camera". Good to know. I wish people didn't have to worry about the details of how they look, in particular skin processing, hair processing, piercings etc., especially when they are linked to trends. I suspect it may correspond with increased usage of the Internet and "just normal people" investigating pornography. When you see over and over people appearing with ridiculously smooth skin, even their most intimate genital parts, you mimic it. "Sex Positive" + Covid facilitated many to "check stuff out" on the web. I prefer hair. Grew up in the 60s-70s. There was a broadway play "Hair". (...and the thought of complications "down there"... no thanks). Be yourself.
You do know that medical staff shave that area ahead of performing various surgeries down there, right... They do it for hygiene (which makes better sense instead of circumcision, which should be a decision by the owner of the penis just like any other grooming decision). Hair loss for cancer patients receiving Chemo or Radiation ALSO causes pubic hair loss as well. 🤔 No "pornography" associated for these circumstances, bruh...
@@Aeson-np8tr No, if you undergo surgery in the lower body the surgeon may shave your hair so as to not risk getting anything inside your opened body and cause infections. And that's a very specific reason. None of that makes sense in this context
@@johan13135 The surgeon isn't usually the one shaving the patient. In any event, whomever is doing the shaving, the patient is the one sporting the new doo for a period of time, so it's immaterial who is wielding the razor.
I've been manscaping since 1996. Was almost unheard of back then.
I mastered the way to trim pubic hairs. At the beginning I cut my self, but now I am a pro haha. My experience says, Trimmer is the best equipenment someone can use to trim pubic hair.
There was never one word mentioned about pubic hair removal in the 50s , 60s and 70s! 🤣🤣🤣
Thank you for all the great videos. Can you pleaseeee make a video on ureaplasma. This is so misunderstood by doctors and patients alike. Would be greatly appreciated!
