What makes me so angry is that people actually brush eczema off as something that isn’t really a problem when in reality it’s actually hell. There’s been days, weeks and months where I couldn’t even leave my house without the fear of people pointing it out and judging me because it’s just so ugly. I’ve struggled with eczema since I was an infant and I’m now 18 and I’ve been using steroids for as long as I can remember. To this day I can’t even bend my fingers and sometimes I can’t bend my legs. I work in McDonald’s and there’s so much cleaning to do (which I know is also a factor) and the chemicals used have made this flare up last two years.
    “You’ll grow out of it”
That’s a lie, you don’t grow out of it. I’m sick of it.
Thank you for putting this video up . It’s so helpful to me.

Someone commented about leaky gut which is a cause of skin issues, gluten is the worst thing to eat because it leads to a leaky gut as it irritates the gut lining something terrible. You may want to check yourself for candida because this goes hand in hand with a leaky gut. Candida is a fungus overgrowth caused by stress, sugar and antibiotics in meat or taken orally for health. This results in low good gut bacteria and if you never take a good probiotic with more then one type of good bacteria in, you may have this.
Look up the candida spit test on RUclips, i did this and treated my candida and parasites (worms) they go hand in hand and can cause skin issues too, i took Diatomaceous Earth (food grade) to kill worms and clove capsules to kill the eggs, 2 each day for 1 month. Both from Amazon.
Get your vitamin levels tested in ferritin (iron) should be 70 - 80, check Vit D levels, Vit D drops with K2 are the best for this, taken evening only and check for low zinc using Zincatest bought online, this will affect the skin if low and it won't show up in blood tests.
You may want to drink almond milk and lactose-free cheese instead of dairy because this can be just as bad as gluten when it comes to causing inflammation in the body, and also causes skin issues. Plus if you are eating free food from MacDonalds that could be making you worse with all the gluten and bad fats, best take your own healthy lunch to work.

      1. Use skin products that work well for you personally. If you need steroid creams use them but only as much as you need. Hemp Oil is an option for skin. So is Camomile cream. 2. Heal your gut. Cut out wheat and dairy products and junk food until you're fully healed, consume L-Glutamine and Probiotics. You can cheat on some products but only when you're fully healed. This regime should last about three months. It can take longer if eczema is very severe. And keep sugar intake low. That's it. | Background: former eczema sufferer (it was so intense that all body was covered in wounds). Visited numerous doctors and tried many different things to heal from this shit. The cause is in the gut and in inflammation. Other causes can be skin infection that is treatable with topic or internal antibiotics. Heal externally, heal internally and you will be alright. Just takes patience and commitment. | personal note: I know how shitty this disease is and I wish everyone amazing health. Have a good one.

I don't think it's expressed enough how devastating eczema is emotionally. There have been nights where I'd lay crying, hitting myself in frustration from the pain and itchiness. Weeks I couldn't shower because any temperature of water felt like needles and stings. I've broken down going to the Urgent Care when the doctor confirmed it really was that severe. I had been playing tough for months and just broke down, unable to stop weeping from how tired I was and how it broke me. All the trial and error involving creams, remedies, lotions, medication, unscented products, what to stop eating, how to stop being so stressed. It takes such a large chunk out of you... that's what I think about. I never had the issue of worrying if people pointed or judged me so that's a small blessing but the physical hurt and exhaustion... it doesn't get talked about enough. All the cracks and itchiness and redness and open wounds and blood staining your clothes and sheets, unable to bend your arms or legs or even sleep on your head without your scalp hurting. It's... it's a serious disease. Thank you for spreading awareness.

An alternative doctor said it is because body is too acidic. Acidic sweat aggravates the skin. Focussing on not dehydrating myself helped. Meaning drinking half your weight in ounces of water, (100 pounds means 50 ounces of water per day with a little sea salt or natural mineral water). no sugar, sugar dehydrates you, little or no processed grains, like bread and doughnuts, because they dehydrate you without the fiber. Other people say vegetable oils, margarine , soy oils, corn oils , etc. aggravated eczema for them. These oils are not raw and are cooked to death and full of toxic chemicals. Have to change diet to make body and sweat less acidic. Like more vegetables, more organ meats and raw oysters, sea food for vitamin D, no caffeine. Caffeine is a weak poison that dehydrates you, because body uses nutrients to remove caffeine. There is a diet called the alkaline diet and one guy used it to end eczema in 3 months.

I took my mother to 3 dermatologists in Oklahoma and they all told her the condition was not curable, only treatable. She dealt with this crap for 40 years, but then the internet came along and suddenly we had the knowledge of the world at our fingertips, so I started doing some extensive research. I found literature from an old school doctor out of the 1950's, that said excessive copper was causing eczema and he was curing people by lowering their copper with daily doses of zinc. According to him, his cure was blocked from being taught at the universities by big pharma. Then after the genome was mapped in 2003, they discovered a new form of copper, called free or unbound to ceruloplasmin copper, so I started researching this. It's a gene defect in the ATP7B copper binding gene, which causes a buildup of toxic unbound copper to build up in the body. Some of the copper is bound and taken out of the body through the bile duct, but not all of it, and this remaining unbound toxic copper builds up in the body over time. It can cause all sorts of problems, one of which is eczema. It also causes white splotches on the skin in some people, because toxic free copper destroys the melanin pigment in the cells. When a mother has a high free copper while the fetus is being developed, it sometimes causes asthma too.
It took a few years of taking zinc for my mother to lower her copper and cure her eczema, and it never came back, because she continued taking 50mg of zinc once a day. While chelating the copper, she took 50 mg of zinc 3 times per day, 150mg total per day, one hour before or 2 hours after meals. It must be taken on an empty stomach, because food binds it up and renders it inactive. The copper test you need is not a normal serum copper test, but a relatively new test called "direct measurement of free copper", the test code at lab corp is 279071. You can get prescription zinc, but over the counter zinc works just as well. The problem with zinc, is it can be nauseating if taken on an empty stomach, even the prescription form. I tested a bunch of brands and types, and now foods zinc picolinate is the least nauseating. It doesn't matter if it's zinc gluconate, zinc picolinate, etc. all zinc salts will block copper absorption and also chelate copper through intestinal cells. Zinc is a primer for metallathionine in intestinal cells, and it has a high affinity for copper. It absorbs the copper into the intestinal cells, and since the intestinal cells turn over every 8 days, and new ones are created, the old copper laden intestinal cells are sloughed off out through the stool, and the process starts over again. This is how zinc chelates copper from the body. It's slow, but one of the safest ways of decoppering the body. Don't take the old copper chelating drug penacillamine, because it has some nasty side effects. It doesn't bind the copper, it just mobilizes it from the tissue and sends high amounts of copper through the kidneys. It has also put people into a permanent vegetative state by flooding their brain with massive amounts of copper. With zinc, it may take 1, 2 or 3 years to lower your free copper to a non toxic level, depending on your age and what ATP7B gene mutation you have. There are over 400 mutations identified so far. One thing that is almost as safe as zinc, but much faster, is a compound called ammonium tetrathiomolybdate (TM). It consists of sulfur and molybdenum, and can decopper a person in 8 weeks, but it must be administered by a doctor, because you'll need weekly anemia tests. Since it's sulfur and molybdenum, you can have a compounding pharmacist make it.
If you have eczema, your whole family needs to have a free copper test done, regardless of whether they have eczema, because this is an hereditary gene defect. Not everyone with a high free copper gets eczema, but it can cause alot of other problems. Groups of people with Schizophrenia, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, Lou Gehrig's, and Tourette's have been tested and all have shown to have a high free copper. A usage patent has been submitted to the FDA to treat and cure people with TM, but that was submitted over a decade ago and it still hasn't been granted. The reason you can have a high free copper in your blood, and not have Schizophrenia, Parkinson's etc. is because your blood brain barrier (BBB) is intact and keeping the free copper out of your brain. In schizophrenia, they are born with a defective BBB, but in the old age diseases the BBB deteriorates and becomes permeable when people get older, which allows the toxic free copper to enter and short circuit the brain. Don't expect to find a doctor that knows this, because their curriculum in medical school is controlled by big pharma, which makes huge donations to the universities. They block cures from being taught, because the big money is in treating, not curing disorders. If someone can be cured with OTC zinc, they lost a cash cow that is no longer buying monthly medications to treat the condition. High blood pressure is also caused by a high free copper and can be cured with zinc, but they're making billions from people taking blood pressure pills to treat the condition. It's all about money, and these big companies don't want you cured, only treated daily with their medications for a lifetime.
I almost forgot, if you have a high free copper causing your problem and not a vitamin D deficiency, which can also cause eczema, be sure to get on a low copper diet. The 2 highest copper foods are liver and shellfish. Chocolate mushrooms, avocados and nuts are also high in copper. The reason a low vitamin D causes eczema in some people, is because vitamin D regulates the immune response. When vitamin D gets low, the immune system goes haywire and attacks the body.

      Bless your heart.
I want to suggest a couple of things that will sound odd, but, you should try.
Pick a smallish area to try these things out, and, if you see improvement, then you could try other areas.
#1 Wash a localized itchy spot *every 2 hours* with DAWN original dish soap.
Wash the same spot every 2 hours for several days.
Longer intervals don't really matter, but, every 2 hours is a pretty good interval.
Do not wipe the spot dry, obviously, only dab it dry.
If nothing changes in that spot after several days, simply discontinue.
Another is, coat an itchy area with honey.
      Try that for several days.
If no improvement, try "Bentonite Clay".
You must never let any of it go down any drain of your house, because it WILL clog your plumbing, so, rinse it off outside or in some way that it will not get into any of your home's plumbing.
DO NOT use a metal spoon with Bentonite Clay.
Use only a plastic spoon, because, the clay has magnetic properties that can be ruined by contact with a metal spoon (allegedly).
Make a mud / paste with a little bit of the clay and water mixed together. Simply apply the mud/ paste to an itchy area and let it stay there for an hour, then rinse it off (outside).
Do that every six hours for a couple of days and observe whether the area got better.
The reason I suggest these things is, I have used each of these treatments at different times in my life for skin ailments, and, each of them helped quite a lot.
Other things I recommend are: go get your spine adjusted.
One nerve being upset from an out of place vertebrae can cause extreme itchiness, actual skin wounds, and all manner of different internal illnesses.
Once I had strep throat and thought I was going to die, went and got adjusted, and the entire horrific throat sore VANISHED just an hour after I was adjusted.
I would have never in a million years expected such a miraculous and immediate healing from that, but, it was indeed my issue and worked right away.
I could have taken all the drugs in the world and would have NEVER been healed, because it was an angry nerve causing the whole thing.
Another to try is stop using laundry detergent and instead, wash your clothes with DAWN (original formula ONLY) dish soap.
See if any change occurs with you.
Of course, you should already have tried completely different detergents to see if the detergent is what's causing it, but, if you have already done that, and there was no change, then I recommend trying the Dawn dish soap.
Always use only Dawn blue original, not, "platinum formula", or, green, or anything other than the original blue formula.
I can't explain the mechanics behind it, but, the other formulas are not effective like the original is.
Anyway, stay in prayer to God as well.
He will calm you through suffering.
I recommend giving THANKS to Him that your ailment is not worse than it is, and give Him thanks for how far in life He has alllowed you to make it, rather than constantly asking Him for healing.
He knows we need His help, but, He deserves THANKS, not, constant asking for help.
By being outwardly GRATEFUL toward Him, rather than constantly asking for Him to do something for us, He will be more pleased with your approach to Him, and will likely interact with you more.
      God bless. 👋

Don't use Dial or Suav, use vegan natural soaps or milk based soaps(farmers market will have it if you get lucky), and oatmeal helps, use the All laundry soap, DO NOT USE DRYER SHEETS, and if you have it available or if you can afford it try getting an allergy blood test so you know what to avoid triggering the next flare. I'm allergic to King salmon and Omega-3 oil supplements, and the advice my dad gave me growing up "if you scratch your skin, you're damaging your nerve endings in your skin, and when you stop it begins to heal but your nerves are now sending messages to your brain again now that they're damaged and you get even more itchy than you were before, so try not to scratch it just apply pressure or a hot/cold compress. Itching is the only thing that makes you feel better and you don’t want to stop because it feels so good. Sometimes even to the point where you bleed. But the aftermath KILLS. And the time I spend scratching at night causes me to be sleep deprived. I sometimes burn my skin with hot water just to numb it for a few minutes. Eczema is such a curse I wouldn't wish it apon my worst enemy. But I'm trying natural things now. And a lot of things you mentioned in the video I can relate to. What sucks with excema isn't really the blistering or the cuts that reopen and the pain that comes with them, but the fact that it's almost impossible to isolate what is making it occur and that it's the amount of trial and error you have to do to see what works for you. I had excema really bad on my hands and it almost completely debilitated me at it's worst.

I'm the living example. Do not give up. If you need to take steroid to go to work until it gets much better, take smaller amount ( I did 5 mg sometimes to go to work) and continue the steps. Josh, all I can say is thank you. I have been struggling with eczema for al long as i can remember. Sometimes it gets to the point where i cannot bend my knees or elbow because of my sores. I always get "Stop scratching and everything will be fine!" No one understand, when you stop itching, you cannot stop until you removed most of the skin in the affected area. For me, the itchiness becomes so overwhelming the only way to be able to go on with the day is to itch until the pain drowns out the itchiness. A lot of the time you absent mindedly itch until someone points out your bloody arm. There is also the fact that steroid cream (atleast the one I use) burns amd stings when applied, sometimes worse than the eczema itself. This entire video is extraordinarily helpful. You have no idea how good it feels for someone to just understand

Used chicory root powder as my main pre biotic. Berberine supplement to also help with my gut flora. I tried the Free and Clear but discovered that using baking soda for bathing ,showering and washing my face, hair and body worked better for me. Stopped eating dairy, eggs, bread, pasta, tomatoes, peppers, processed meat. No soda or alcohol. Avoid processed sugar and junk food. I drink loads of green tea, with raw honey. I usually eat boiled sweet potatoes and meat for breakfast. Combination of unproceeed meat, rice and leafy green vegetables for other meals. I snack with avocadoes, bananas. Drink plenty of filtered water. It's a huge change but if you had bad eczema, you will welcome the change as a blessing. I lost 15 lbs. and look a lot leaner. Consistent but light sun exposure and sweating thru exercise is also very helpful. Make sure you shower after sweating. @@dapperblue6165 sure. So in the winter, the air is much more dry. Not 100% on the why, but it's why you see people putting on more lotion and chapstick in the winter. So any exposed skin is going to be constantly leaking moisture into the air (this happens in the summer, too, but at a slower rate bc there is more water in the air). If you cover your skin with something like cotton that absorbs and retains moisture, you create a pocket of air between your skin and the outside air. That pocket of air will have a higher humidity, as the moisture in that pocket can't escape through the cloth. More humid air around your skin means less leakage of skin moisture and less drying

Thanks for your honest video. I’m an active 71 year old and had a heart attack in April 2021. I Don’t know if it’s related, but I seem to have pretty severe eczema and possibly some psoriasis that I never had prior. I do think stress can elevate things as well. I have been given prescription topical creams that have only help to a limited degree, but with flareups I would need gallons of it to cover all the itchy spots and that’s not realistic. So I just got back from a specialist today with prescriptions for internal medicine and more topical medicine. But I think I’m going to hold off a little bit longer and try some other things from watching RUclips, including your own. One girl had success she said from using castor oil and apple cider vinegar internally, so I may try that, some dietary changes and I’ve been told to stay out of my hot tub. One thing that certainly hit home was your description of the stress A person goes through when severe flareups happen. With my heart issues I was on blood thinners for a time and you can imagine how much I was bleeding all over the place. I have since discontinued them. Yes depression goes with it and sometimes hopelessness. People would never understand how traumatic itching can be unless you’ve experienced it yourself with the severity of these skin ailments. I think I may try the red light and infrared box treatment is well. Thanks again.
PS: I was told once that the investigative medical community does not put too much money into more research with these skin ailments because they’re not life-threatening.

I just found your video looking for answers for my daughter. I was told by Doctors at OHSU in Portland Oregon that i had Eczema for 40 years of my life. Nine years ago I switched jobs and didn't have my hands in latex paint or my face and neck around insulation. Within just a few weeks all my problems went away. I was actually allergic to several things that were on and around me for years not knowing. Never once did they do an allergy test. BE YOUR OWN ADVOCATE.

Hi! I just want to say something for those that decides to use Sudocrem for the first time….please please don’t do the same mistake I did, put as little as possible on your skin spread it evenly and DO NOT put one bit extra thinking is gonna do you good, this is extremely sticky, anything that comes in contact with your skin afterwards it will cause you 10 times the discomfort you had it before, I took 6 hot showers in a period of 8 hours during the night just to clean it off and it didn’t go completely no matter how hard I tried. I’m an experienced construction worker and I worked with all kinds of liquid insulators, paints any many more, but the stickiness in this cream I never ever experienced in my entire life so please BE AWARE of this aspect if you try it for the first time! I would even suggest to try for a day on tiny spot on your body and see if any good effects. PS: as for its efficacy I cannot speak yet, I didn’t gave up and I’m still gonna try it, I will update my post if this works for me, thanks for reading!

I would like to thank you for going into this subject. I tried 3 of the products being suggested ( Minera salt, free and clear shampoo and vitamin b12 lotion. ) Mineral salt helped calm the rashes but what really helped (and still does) is the shampoo! If I try anything other than free and clear, I'm back to having itchy skin and rashes. I use it for my hair and body. I haven't had any reoccurring itching nor hives, since I started using it nine months ago.. As for the vitamin b12 lotion, that was an immediate no, I started itching and hives everywhere I put the lotion on. To hydrate my skin I use a product called.. Honeyskin its organic Aloe Vera gel that works very well. I got it from Amazon. It smells floral, but its got no additives, its just flower essence.
These things worked for my life long ailment.

This video is a blessing and a half. Sometimes my bf will see me struggling at night and take random objects just to help me scratch like the battery cover for the remote or my drivers license. I know I’m not supposed to scratch like that but if I scratch with my nails I’ll bleed and it feels soooo good sometimes my eyes roll back lol. Then I’ll shower and he will rub me down with my special creams. I could cry at how wonderful he is for taking care of me like that, but I’m also so depressed and embarrassed watching him search for any missed gross ugly parts of my skin to take care of.

one thing that really helped was oatmeal baths! those were a blessing. after taking baths, i would put my ointments and then lotion. Remember to moisturize, super important. Beginning of this year my skin was so bad that my waist above was flared up and puss oozing out. after taking baths, it helped so much. also hydrate and eat healthy, unsuprisingly it helped A LOT.

Thank you for this video. I have been on and off steroid cream for eczema for about 2 years. I'll give this a shot and let you know how it works out.
**People don't understand how debilitating this condition is; it impacts every aspect of your life: Waking up splashing around in your arms with your fingernails -- in a pool of puss and blood. Itching, searing, agonizing, self-inflicted pain. It can easily drive someone into a depressive state, could easily drive one to insanity when coupled with sleep deprivation. I remember one time in particular I actually thought about removing my skin. This of course was after several days of sleeplessness. Eczema fucking sucks.

My young daughter had eczema and didn't sleep properly for several years, in turn we couldn't either, so I realised I needed to get this into control since it was controlling all of us.
It was mostly gone to an extent that we only rubbed aveeno on her once a week or when she went swimming.
Here are some of the things that worked:
    1. Moved from Manchester (wettest/dampest city in UK) to Blackpool.
The change of city and moving into a bigger and more ventilated house was already helping in many ways. The previous house had a serious damp problem which aggregated the situation.
    2. Made her play in fresh air daily and mostly by the sea!! I was hesitant at first and thought the salt might act as an irritant but her skin felt beautiful on the first day.
Completely quit steroids but only relied on epaderm - which i hated since it made all her clothes and whole house greasy!
So Did more research and bought 'dead sea salts' for her baths when we couldn't go to the sea.
Boiled Margosa (neem) leaves with turmeric and bathed her in the concoction daily.
Before her skin dried out I'd apply mustard oil mixed with a hint of margosa seed oil (anti bacterial and anti fungus) the margosa leaves treatment stopped the horrible infection and anti-biotics cycle.
Fed her organic broccoli and carrots twice a day, which visibly helped to reduce inflammation in her always burgundy coloured cheeks.
    Completely quit refined sugar/ sweets/fizzy drinks/artificial foods.
Switched her onto full-fat goats milk
Made beakers of water to monitor her water intake
Kept her out in the evening sun as much as possible
Kept her busy at all times to prevent her itching.
At night bought her silk eczema gloves, weaved from inside her clothes to stop her from removing them and breaking her skin since i couldn't supervise her then.
Changed her bed sheets after ever 2-3days and washed them and any soft toys in 60° temperature with eco eczema friendly natural detergents.
Bought and made her wear only 100% cotton.
We made it a point on going to very sunny tourist destinations so she can spend time in the sea.
Egyptian sea is very beneficial for skin and health.
With these precautions and aversion to allopathic and pharmaceutical steroids and medicines we were able to conquer this beast of an illness. Eczema was gone!
Until now! we've recently moved to a different hard-water city, the beast is showing up at a small scale and i want to stamp it out before it makes me its slave again.
So I'm browsing the web again!

Irrelevant but maybe interesting: I would say I have mild eczema, but it's pretty debilitating because of where it is. It's around my eyes, and when it flares up, I can hardly open my eyes and see. I use an eye patch around the worse eye when it happens so that I can just open the other one and get on with life. For me, I found that social interaction treated the eczema completely, and the absence of social interaction due to COVID-19 has caused some bad flare ups for the first time in years.

    • @ughhhmcrbinch5583
      @ughhhmcrbinch5583 2 года назад +3

I'm not sure what you mean by social interaction healed the eczema but I can agree that as covid-19 and quarantine came my eczema is the worst it's ever been. Less than once a year I would get flare ups before. Now eczema is a constant hell. It hasn't gone away for going on 2 years. This is such a shock because I feel like there were years wear I forgot I even had atopic dermatitis. I'm only 17 and I'm scared I'll have to deal with this for the rest of my life.

    • @ughhhmcrbinch5583
      @ughhhmcrbinch5583 2 года назад +1

My entire body itches. I have eczema on my hands, arms, armpits, shoulder blades, knees, random spots on my legs, feet, ankles, and even my eyes. I feel like an eczema monster and the discoloration makes me not even want to go outside. As I sit right now I can feel the underside of my thighs itching. I had terrible, constant scalp itchiness which I learned to ignore but this feels like a wall I can't get around.

    • @viviansaravanan7531
      @viviansaravanan7531 2 года назад

@@ughhhmcrbinch5583 It sounds like it's been extremely isolating and scary to have your body ravaged by the eczema, especially because it feels so out of control and you're worried you'll have to struggle with it for the rest of your life. I think those feelings are totally valid. Still, I think there is hope after COVID-19.
It must be excruciating to have spent the past two years in isolation as a 17-year old. I'm 25, and the pandemic struck right as I graduated college. Now, a year and a half into it, I'm really struggling with my eczema as well. My right hand is so lesioned and hard that at times I'm having difficulty playing Scherzo no 1 because the skin cracks. It's horrific, and the skin looks like that of a burn victim. It's really scary to feel like I have no control of my body, like there's an alien monster parasitizing me slowly from the inside. But I remember what it was like when I had in-person friends briefly in college and hung out with them regularly. I was an outcast due to other health problems until my last year and a half, and in that last year and a half, especially during my romantic relationship, my eczema was totally different. After struggling with showering since 17 due to the eye eczema sometimes making me unable to for months (even a drop of water would cause a flare up), suddenly I was able to even use soap on my face for a time, provided I moisturized afterwards.
There is hope for us. Right now, we're going through a dark, dark tunnel thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic. I don't know what I'll do if my hands get permanently damaged from my eczema (luckily this is highly unlikely), but I know that at first chance, when it's responsible for me to do so, I'll be spending time with friends again as much as I can. We as biologists don't know as much as we should about the mind-body connection, but I'm beginning to think it's obvious that the two are intrinsically interconnected. There's no meaningful separation, to a scary extent: Yesterday, I watched a horror film and at the end of it my hands were bright red and itchy again after days of healing.
Please take care of yourself and of your friendships; your friends may be your eczema lifeline at the end of this pandemic (and even during). You're certainly not a monster, even if you feel like one. Even in the worst-case scenario, you'd still be worthy of love-- not because of some shallow, coroporate liability-originating bullshit about how everyone deserves love, but because you seem to be exceptionally thoughtful and wise and open for someone who is 17.
Sorry to write a manifesto. Please keep replying to this thread if you need support; I'm not sure how to provide contact information securely over RUclips, but if you ever discover my email address somehow, I welcome you to reach out, even if just to not be alone.

I relate to this a lot too! Before lockdown when I had a routine of leaving early in the morning for work, I'd get back home & fall asleep around the same time due to exhaustion (which in this case, was good for leaving my eczema alone at night) so because of this, it always helped to clear up mine that more effectively. My 2 year old has eczema from birth and multiple .. multiple allergies. We've tried so many things most of which she's allergic too... Anyways... here us something that is helping to keep her skin hydrated. Maybe this might help someone.. all the best.
In the beginning I started doing this 6 to 8 times a day but very soon afterwards we only apply twice a day. Layer the skin with the following:
Layer one (home made Moringa oil)
Layer 2 spray and rub water on the area
Layer 3 Cover the area with sudocrem (zinc based cream)
The water creates more hydration and is locked in by the layer of sudocrem.
Recipe for home made moringa oil:
250ml of sunflower oil (you can use your desired carrier oil that you are not allergic to)
    1 tablespoon caster oil
    1 tablespoon glycerin
    Few drops vitamin E oil
1 teaspoon to 1 tablespoon morninga powder.
Mix these up in a bowl and place the bowl in a bigger bowl of hot water to heat the oil and have the ingredients infuse in the oil. (People use this technique to melt chocolate). Let cool and strain moringa powder from oil with a (tea) seive.
I've tried many things and this seems to help my daughter alot her skin was very dry and now its soft .. but she also has a diet that reduces allergens and takes some homeopathic tablets once a day.
PS when using glycerin always add more water as glycerin will dehydrate your skin. That's why I also add more water when using this technique.

I'm glad you brought up hydro therapy. There is some discussion about the exposure to super hot water and it's soothing effects. It kills the itch and creates a euphoric feeling. That feeling is a rush of endorphins. It's like getting high. Then depression sets in when coming off the endorphin rush.

So glad you found your cute. Wonderful advice! I've been managing my eczema mainly through diet, gone 100% gluten free now and am loving the results!
I can say that, for me, "cheating" is NOT a good thing, as the back and forth between gluten and no gluten really messes with my body balance. Especially after eating no gluten for a long time.
Maintaining a cooler temperature during a flare up has been a must too. I use fans a lot, wear cooler clothing, don boxers instead of briefs, use aloe gel and ice packs... if it's cold, I will try it! Thankfully the weather has gotten cooler!

Hi people! Hope you are feeling better.
I know every body works differently and does not have the same reactions, but I still want to share things that really helped me with my severe eczema and atopic skin reactions.
First of all, I want to say that corticoid injections didnt work for me at all, they would make my skin heal really quickly at first but then all the reactions came back worst than before.
Something I HIGHLY RECOMEND is doing 'oat baths', you have to cook for 3 minutes 2 cups of oats in boiling water, wait for it to get stickier and heavier and then pour it on warm water and have a bath there. Stay there for 15 minutes(not more because your skin might dehydrate) and dont rinse it off with water later. I did it everyday for a week, and I can assure you it was the only remedy for the burning feeling. After the first bath my skin felt better.
Also Ive been taking oral antihistamines to help me get better sleep quality and calm the urge of itching.
And the creams that I ve been using daily are La Roche Posay Lipikar Baum and Bagovit A+. The first one after thw oat bath and the other, in the mornings.
Dont forget to drink water, it really helps to hydrate and improve the texture of the skin!!
Sorry if I spell something wrong or didnt express properly, Im from Argetina. If you have any question about what I wrote, you can send me an email at lucialucena9@gmail.com.

Josh, thank you. Discovered this by chance. I'm in my 70s but very active (mentally more than physically) and am a pianist and organist, so we connect with the piano. My eczema problem started only about 4 years ago and is only from the knees down, but I can identify so very closely with all the distress that eczema causes ─ and the sores from scratching tend to become ulcers ─ and yes, the pain is more tolerable than the itching. I use a range of approaches (as well as salt in the bath, a little household bleach can help deal with infections, the chlorine acts as an antibiotic [15 mL to every 10L water]). But after many weeks of treatment it will almost heal but then break out again in a never-ending cycle. Although it's only the legs, I have exactly the same problems as you and many of your commenting people. I don't get actually depressed (my faith helps here), but certainly frustrated and dispirited. I'm going to take your advice about steroids, many of the dietary and temperature suggestions are already in place, but you have other suggestions I'm going to try also. It's important to apply a non-perfumed moisturizer frequently. Here in Australia, QV brand products are very good. Thank you, you are literally a Godsend.
A note on soaps and liquid-wash products. To start with, EVERYTHING is chemical whether manufactured or grown. "Natural" soaps, if actually soaps, will have a certain amount of sodium hydroxide present (used to convert fats/oils to soaps) and so are relatively harsh. Liquid-wash products are generally superior to any soap and ease dry-skin problems. Also, if swallowing baking soda, the stomach acid will neutralise the alkalinity (the stomach contents are very acidic with hydrochloric acid) so it must be helping in some other way.

I remember having eczema since I was really little on both my arms, it was honestly so horrible and flaky and itchy! It hurt so bad and it would get so bad I had to itch it in my sleep, yet I didn’t start thinking about my appearance until I started going to higher grades in school. Like 5th,6th, and 7th grade people started to point it out or even ask if it was contagious!! I felt so disgusting and horrible, I felt gross especially when it was super flaky and I just couldn’t stop itching it! My mom would always yell at me and tell me to stop itching it and it would heal and be fine, but it was so bad I just couldn’t stop I had to get the dry skin off I had to get the itchyness away! It honestly wouldn’t stop being itchy till I peeled off my dry skin physically and my skin was super red and sensitive. I was so sad and it hurt so much, but I don’t remember what had helped my arms but eventually it was gone!! And I was so happy, but it had come back on my neck and well it’s still here. Right now it’s a lot more manageable but when it first started it was so horrible it started in my freshman year of high school, it was extremely flaky and I couldn’t stop itching till I couldn’t look down because my neck hurt so bad. But it would be better than having my skin be so tight and hurty, because if it was moisturized or already itches my skin would be so tight that looking up would hurt so bad. Moisturizing it was hell because I couldn’t find anything that worked, it would be ok for a second but it would only be just that a second. My skin would soak it up and then be dry again, and when I found something that could actually penetrate it it would be fine but it would peel so bad! My skin would PEEL OFF and then just be so raw and horrible. So it ultimately didn’t work!! But once my skin had a reaction to a salt water and chlorine mix on a cruise and got super dry and bumpy and so thick it felt like I had a beard, that was the last straw I was so tired and so conscious of it being there. I hated it so much and anything I put on it BURNED even water!! Nothing could help but then we used cortizone10 (which I recommend) and it worked so well!! So I’ve been using a mix of cortizone10 and African soap and it’s been working so well!! I still have my horrible dry days but it’s been better then it was when it was extremely perky and gross! I have been feeling so much better, so I just wish everyone can find that thing that works for them! And I’m here to tell you it gets better I’m certain once you find that little miracle product or thing for you everything will be okay! Just know that there’s others out there and your not alone so please stay strong!! You’ll get there I know it! 💖💖💖

also stress is a pretty big factor for my eczema because it's right before finals rn and I flared out really bad and I found that icing when any part was itchy and meditation was a really big help along with CeraVe cream and steriod creams for really bad flared up sections. My dermatologist also recommended PanOxyl which has benzoyl peroxide in it which will clear off any bacteria which could cause skin infections since people with eczema are more prone to it.

Great vid! The things that made me itch: dairy, peanuts, grains, coffee.
Things that helped: calcium & magnesium citrate pills, glutamine, cod liver oil pills, nascent iodine (started with 4 drops, now i take 28), and citicoline. I take 2 capsules of citicoline every 20 min till the itching stops. Usually 6 work fine.

OMG it's very refreshing to hear this. I could probably have my own store with all the creams I have and steroids do not work for me. I have been dealing with this my whole life but after the birth of my daughter it's been really bad so bad it's making my hand change in shape. I am going to try this. Thank you for sharing.

Josh: Consider going to your doctor and have them prescribe a sensitivity test down on you. My doctor had me do two separate tests over a two year period and the results for me were astounding. Come to find out I was very sensitive to eating eggs, casein, and milk products. Besides messing up my sleep (dramatically), the result was constant Eczema in the same places as you, plus more. Now, with out any sensitivity foods in my life my skin has completely healed and I sleep eight hours every night. It has been a game changer for me and I wish I had done this many years ago. All the best!
