- Police officials in Georgia refuse to release the identity of a detective who showed up to the home of a couple and lost his temper. The residents were armed and the officer didn’t like it. It turned into a shouting match. Cenk Uygur and Ana Kasparian, hosts of The Young Turks, break it down. Tell us what you think in the comment section below.
"Earl Cannady and his wife just arrived home from a shopping trip to the local Walmart when their son told them there were cops at the door.
The couple both have licenses for their guns which they were both wearing but that must have spooked the cops because they demanded to know why the Georgia couple had guns.
He shut the door and walked to get his cell phone to begin recording the video that has since gone viral. The officer accused the couple of being involved with drugs, despite the lack of evidence and the insistence that the family is chemical free.
The officer was denied entry into the home because he didn’t have a warrant to search and that’s when things took a turn for the worse.
“Now if you got a problem with those kids, you take it up with those kids, but I’m going to tell you something right now, you don’t got a f*cking investigation on me,” Cannady can be heard on the video saying.”*

Growing up near Atlanta, as a teenager I did not cause any problems but every interaction with the police that I ever saw was like this.

BlackRock Nightcore I am incredibly skeptical of that mostly because it takes over a year to become a cop around here where we have some of the most relaxed stuff ever and it's 2 months minimum of actual training and at least one month of doing ride-alongs

If a cop has no warrant, they should be treated as trespassers in every respect of the law.
Supreme court should rule on this. If cops mistakenly enter a residence, especially at night, the resident should be legally allowed to unload on them. If it's legally allowed, I'm pretty sure cops will do their homework in the future after one incident.

There are a lot of good reasons for cops to be at a place without warrent. Questioning witnesses, asking for a pitstop, survey about perceived security. That cop just happened to have a seemingly criminal reason.
The cops are free to request cooperation in an investigation. Without a warrant, it is just a request.

I used to think people were over reacting about police. Till I got my ass beat by 5 detectives. After being charged with resisting arrest with violence and without. State of Florida dropped the felony resisting left the misdemeanor. I realized these people do what they want, then they lie in police reports and to judges.

Most of the drama could have been eliminated if he would have just closed the door after the detective said "okay" to going to get a warrant. There was no need to escalate the issue - especially when armed.
Some people make their first mistake of opening the door in the first place. Once you get the cop out the house close the door and lock it. but had that been minority this would have been a huge difference. armed black people going outside with guns would have been a shootout. Stay inside regardless of your race and protect your home from within. castle doctrine clearly protects the inside of the house not the yard.

I had two officers serve me a warrant as they are serving to me said somebody's name. I had no idea who the hell it was. As they told me they had a warrant to search the premises for somebody. They're already forcing their way in my house as soon as they said the guys name I immediately told them they had the wrong address. As I was looking at the warrant they had the wrong address. Not even on the right side of the river. Totally wrong address.
And if they found drugs, while unlawfully searching your house, it would still be admissible, because going to the wrong address on accident is considered a reasonable search..

It was crazy weird I got the knock opened the door handed me the warrant as they did said a name I didn't know. One officer was already in my door in my house. It happened fast.

Im glad it all worked out for you. Im just pointing out that the courts would accept that as a 'reasonable search' so you could be charged with anything they discovered. Its somehow not a 4a violation when they accidentally search the wrong house.
