I didn't want to buy this thing, but because it came with all the harnesses, adapter, and a backuo camera, it ended up being a cheaper option than getting a bunch of random separate metra kits and a single din... 😂

    I have pin pointed that it was the 2din unit that's causing the drain of my battery. Most of the tutorials out there were of a different 2din unit and the suggestion is to turn off the sleep mode.Your head unit is similar to mine. I found out there's only a standby mode, no sleep mode. So, I'm going to try out your suggestion and see if the parasitic battery drain is fixed. Thanks for this video, mate. Keep you posted.

I put my test like to it and found it was always hot even when the key was off, so that’s why I decided to snip it. Put my test light to all the wires even on the factory side. Have to test all the wires and make sure all the wires I your radio wiring harness line up because these things aren’t always accurately lined up coming from China, hence the reason I had to tap a wire (blue) into factory hot wire because the pins didn’t line like they should.

    Was wondering if I can just remove the can bus unit, I don't have any steering wheel controls to link up and the can bus is designed for the newer model of my car. The unit connectors all went together fine but it's that dreaded drain. Another video says that the 2 pin connector with the red and orange could need pulling apart or changing the 2 wires around. Just put a new battery in and want to solve this before putting the unit back in the car.

    • @richirich1
      @richirich1  10 месяцев назад +1

      Yes you can take it out if you don’t have a need for it. It also helps the unit understand when the lights are on so it can go from dim to bright, but if it’s functioning to your liking you don’t have to use it. However, you will need to confirm that the cause of the drain. If you can take the key out and use a test light to test the wires that are still providing power to the unit while it’s off will pinpoint the cause of the drain.

    Friend I'm having a problem that the radio turns on and it plays the MP3 or replace the radio station but I'm getting no audio and then I have to reset it and then it plays audio if you turn the car off and turn it on after 2 or 3 minutes you're okay but if you wait like 10 or 20 minutes once again it turns on but it won't play any sound and you have to do the radio stations again I got a feeling it's the internal battery just like laptops have an internal battery I believe it makes sense that these Android which are basically a tablet would also have an internal battery and it was just too old to hold any power this could be my problem what do you think

    • @richirich1
      @richirich1  4 месяца назад

      Hey how’s it going. I don’t know how new yours is or which model but these things can be finicky. I don’t believe they have an internal battery, as they do have the fuse of the back which is used to keep it active in “sleep mode” to hold some charge while the car is off to keep the memory. Also, you do have a constant source of power which is your ACC and power wire that feeds it power when the key is on and when it’s off usually your yellow and/or red wire.
      I believe either your car battery is low and not fully charged to 12-14v or there’s an issue with the radio. Might need to factory reset it and also pull it and check the wires make sure none are melted or loosely connected. It could be the radio is going bad, mine in my Tundra the radio portion just stopped working, I hardly listen to radio because I Bluetooth so I don’t worry about it.

  • @aussiep5112
    @aussiep5112 Месяц назад

    Try this it works.
    The head unit receives constant power for memory and presets from the dash side of the harness ( Yellow Wire ).
    The head unit also receives switched power via the Red Wire. The red wire turns the unit on and off via the key operation.
    When the unit is shut off, the unit still receives power from the yellow wire.
    Now !! due to this constant power from the yellow wire, the canbus also receives this constant power .
    So the unit is live, and also the canbus is live ( Constant ).
    So, to fix this issue , cut the yellow wire on the canbus and splice it into the red wire on the canbus.
    What this does is , it stops the canbus from having constant power once the key is turned off.
    Now, because the yellow wire that is now connected to the red (acc), once the key is inserted and powered up, the red ( acc ) wire provides the yellow canbus wire power to operate.
    All sorted and no more flat batteries.
    The moral of the story : 2 units were receiving constant power, and now there is only one.
    Good luck.

      I’m going to give this ago. Just to clarify the red wire will spilt in to two routes basically before it goes into the canbus . One route supplying power for the yellow wire and one route for the red wire?

    • @richirich1
      @richirich1  2 месяца назад

      If it’s constantly on you need to located the the tire that’s always hot. Take a test light and check the blue, yellow and red wires and see which one is still hot when the car is off. If one lights up your test light then that’s the reason the unit doesn’t turn off. Then you can do what I did in the video by snipping the wire.

      It shouldn’t reset anything by doing this. You have a memory wire and fuse that keeps a little power while care is off.
      You’ll have to check you power wires if not coming on with the key. Possibly the power wire is connected with another auxiliary wire like the cigarette lighter or something that comes on with the car

      Is it the yellow on the canbus or the main yellow wire? What type of car? Some cars especially American cars the radio will stay on until you open the drivers door.
      If it didn’t work, put it back together and use a test light to see which wire is still hot while the car is off and key is out. These Chinese aftermarket radios and wiring harness aren’t always precisely the same. Could be the red wire.

      This is about a parasitic draw of power when the care is completely turned off. What you are experiencing if the car is off but head unit is on and working is simply you have a bad battery with low voltage. If you leave the lights on white car off or listening to the radio and it draws the battery down then that’s just a bad battery. A good battery can hold charge at around 10.8-11.5 volts continuously without draining down If just sitting with the radio on. If the battery drains overnight with the car off then it could be you have something drawing the battery down and in that case this is the video for you
