  • I had this android xtrons head unit installed & the next day it had killed my battery. After searching through dozens of forums & videos I finally worked out the problem & it's something you MUST check either when you or a technician fits this radio in. If they're all defaulted to this setup then it will kill the battery.

    I thought that setting would leave the head unit on for that time before switching off, so I never changed it. Battery hasn't died yet, but I noticed the car is cranking a bit slower so I would imagine eventually it would. Thanks!

    Thank you very much for this. Mine was set to sleep on all the time and I've just changed it so hopefully it will make a difference. Thank you

    Thank you so much for this! Our radio is different, but it still solved our problem, I think. We went through 3 batteries, and could find nothing draining or shorted. It’s been a week with no drain so far, so 🤞🏻🤞🏻.

    Excellent video... I'm thinking of getting one of these for our Fiat 500, and just in the process of researching... Having fixed one parasitic battery drain by disconnecting the old blue and me unit (a right pita to do this by the way, but I digress).... I went down the rabbit hole of these units killing batteries and came across this video. You've definitely filled me with more confidence now :-) - Was there much trade off with the boot up time (clearly there's not much to consider.. dead battery or fast starting stereo lol), but interested how long it takes to boot when you start in the morning? Thanks again for this golden nugget of info.

      It's about a minute for everything to load after the unit has been completely off, I've set mine for 30 minutes after taking the key out, so if you start the car again, it will come straight on if less than 30 minutes since you took the key out & left the car

    Thanks very much ... one more thing setting it at 30 mins means the unit will shut off after 30 mins?

      Yes, that's what I've set mine for & it's been fine all week

      If you're a bit wary, try it, turn the car off for 20 minutes & then get back in & turn it on & the radio should be straight on as you left it, then turn it off again & 35 minutes later try again & if you get the "cold" boot (android is starting) message you'll know its worked 👍

      @pius488 2 года назад +1

      @@dave21031963 no it did not work. I plugged in the canbus and set the standby mode to 30 mins as said in your video, removed the key from the ignition and waited for about 40 mins and the stereo was still on (didnt even blink).. I tried setting it up to 20 mins and it was the same so I had to unplugged the canbus and set the standby mode to 0 like before and anytime I removed the key from the ignition it shuts off instantly.

    how to enable display of battery voltage on the radio?

      My setup is a custom launcher that shows the battery state, don't know if there's another way.

    If your battery drains with auto sleep on you have wired your headunit wrong! I have autosleep ON, and no problem with battery drain. Even if I take a week away and don't use my car. So here is the right wiring. Yellow wire is constant 12V (Battery) Red is accessories (ignition on/off. You MUST connect red to red and yellow to yellow! And this is very important - DON'T connect ANY POWER wire to Cigarette lighter or anything else that has constant power ON! This WILL drain your battery. When you use Auto Sleep the headunit uses minimal power for memory: Radio stations presets -clock- audio and backlight settings and general settings. Just like a normal radio - which goes in standby when you turn our car off. Same thing. If you have older battery - bad or worn out alternator and wrong wiring, correct it.

      Yes but why after reboot all settings such dsp radio stations resets to factory ? Maybe faulty unit ?

    • @MartinMurray1966
      @MartinMurray1966 Год назад

      @@GK-Greece because as he has said the red wire is for ignition live, so its only live when the ignition is on. The yellow wire is permenant live, so that makes sure your headunit doesnt lose all the settings.
