The unit connectors all went together fine but it's that dreaded drain. Another video says that the 2 pin connector with the red and orange could need pulling apart or changing the 2 wires around. Just put a new battery in and want to solve this before putting the unit back in the car.
Yes you can take it out if you don’t have a need for it. It also helps the unit understand when the lights are on so it can go from dim to bright, but if it’s functioning to your liking you don’t have to use it. However, you will need to confirm that the cause of the drain. If you can take the key out and use a test light to test the wires that are still providing power to the unit while it’s off will pinpoint the cause of the drain.

i installed a head unit 2 days ago, now if i turn on the ignition but now the engine my head unit turn on and drains the battery in about 10 minutes, will this solve my problem ? if not does anyone know a way to fix it ? Thank you!
This is about a parasitic draw of power when the care is completely turned off. What you are experiencing if the car is off but head unit is on and working is simply you have a bad battery with low voltage. If you leave the lights on white car off or listening to the radio and it draws the battery down then that’s just a bad battery. A good battery can hold charge at around 10.8-11.5 volts continuously without draining down If just sitting with the radio on. If the battery drains overnight with the car off then it could be you have something drawing the battery down and in that case this is the video for you
@@richirich1 thanks for the help, my head unit has a fan for cooling, i tested all wires and after disconnecting the fan wire the parasitic draw disappeared, still not sure why the fan was drawing so much power but its solved.
It's possible. You'll just need to suss out the pin out/wiring diagram for the head unit. I mean for basic operation, all you need is B+, ACC, GND and L/R speaker wires. The (well... my) HU harness has all of these. I've got a 10" Chinese head unit that looks like it came off the same shelf in China as the one in this video (just slightly larger screen), and it never came with a CANBUS device like we see in the video, and hasn't needed it. However I am also having issues where it sometimes doesn't turn on/off with the ignition. ACC wire is currently connected through the CIG lighter circuit which seems to have improved the problem but it still occurs occasionally, usually after a day or two of functioning almost perfectly. Cutting the main yellow B+ wire cuts the power to the unit when it wont turn off by the key. This leads me to believe their is a software bug which is preventing an internal switch from activating/deactivating the internal power (so a software controlled switch isn't getting the memo that you've turned the key off and the software keeps providing power to the unit via the B+ wire). It has to be that. OP, I'm almost willing to bet you were still battling this problem after making this video? What I am finding is you think you have a "win" by changing something and it works, then a few days later, the issue returns with nothing being changed. It's like a time based bug in the software which reappears after you have cut power to the unit and then reconnected it again (resetting the time and date again). My unit also refuses to remember the date and time when I manually input them, but it remembers all my radio stations and other custom settings. Just about ready to explore options to flash the unit with a different OS to be honest.
There should be 2, one that goes to the main harness and one that runs to the canbus. If you can’t test it with a test light to determine which is hot, just cut it with enough space that you can rewire it back together if it isn’t the correct wire. Trial and error
Any idea how I could test if my canbus decoder is working? Mine is constantly on so I unplug that 2 wires on the harness and plug in canbus decoder but just get no power at all.
If it’s constantly on you need to located the the tire that’s always hot. Take a test light and check the blue, yellow and red wires and see which one is still hot when the car is off. If one lights up your test light then that’s the reason the unit doesn’t turn off. Then you can do what I did in the video by snipping the wire.

You’ll have to check you power wires if not coming on with the key. Possibly the power wire is connected with another auxiliary wire like the cigarette lighter or something that comes on with the car
What if we dont have back up camera?
@@mr.incredible3318 back up camera is a different video cord so it won’t matter. You can still try this.
i have the same issue with my battery draining since installing my mp5 stereo. but my main issue is that it cuts off as soon as i start driving.
@@FloydSquire check your wiring. It’s possible it’s either shaking loose, not grounded well, or you have your acc and power wires mixed up. (Red, yellow and/or blue)
I kinda have a similar problem to this one. My radio stays on for two minutes when I take the key out, and then it shuts down. What could it be? I mean if it has something with constant power it wouldn't shut down after two minutes, it would stay on, right? Could it be some kind of option enabled in the system settings? I checked that out but I can't find any option there. So yeah, I'm a bit lost now.
@@ivanuremovic1199 do you have you headlights on set to auto? If so, turn them off to see what happens. It could be staying on because of that. Possibly in the advance menu settings there could be a delayed shut down option you need to adjust. Is it draining the battery or just annoying it’s remaining on?
@@richirich1 As far as I see battery acts the same as before, so there's no drain. My lights are on auto, but I tried changing to "ON" position and it's the same thing. I tried accesing developer options menu but I don't know the password for it, and there's nothing about shutdown in car factory settings. I even asked seller about password and they said that they don't know it.

I have a problem and would be very grateful if you could help me. I bought an xtrons head unit for my Jetta plugged in and it drains my battery let me explain how it’s wired to give you an idea. The yellow wire constant voltage runs from the car to radio, there’s a sub connector with a red and orange wire that connects cars harness to head unit and then goes to canbus. And then there’s the acc wire which is not connected to nothing. Yellow wire and red wire connected to head unit drains my battery. I took out the canbus out overnight thinking it was the one that drains my battery. It still drains my battery. Disconnected red and orange connectors and that cuts voltage to head unit and it stops draining my battery but head unit loses power even though yellow wire is still connected .so with yellow wire still connected but not the red head unit it should still receive voltage and turn in but it does not. Can you please help? I hope my explanation made any sense. Thank you in advance.
@@carlingas666 connect the yellow wire to the ACC and it should fix it.
Hello bro.i have a problem with android display,so when i unlock the car or open the back doors then open the display and playing for few minutes.what happening did you know??? thanks you
It happens when you open the doors and no key is in? The display turns on without you starting the car?
@@richirich1 hello again bro.yes when i open the doors, display is turn on and the key isn't inside the car.

Hyyy. You solved this problem with your display? I have the same issue when i open the back doors the display is turn on. Can you help me please ?
not sure why but it just wouldn’t turn on when i disconnected either of them
If it didn’t turn on them that means you’ve removed on of the power sources to it. What type of car and what exactly did you disconnect?
I had problem of battery draining, but radio worked fine. Found out canbus is draining 2mv on a 7.5 fuse. Lets cut that wire :D
Update, cutting wire stopped battery drain, but i dont have ac controls anymore .
@@jonasv369 yours is more advance if you have ac controls on your Android radio. Also, confirm which side you snipped. You snipped the aftermarket wire side, not the factory side?
@@richirich1 i did cut aftermarket side. But now i joind wires i cut, unplugged cambus. Ac, steering wheel buttons, working and no power draw.
the only thing for mine is the steering wheel buttons are not working but everything else works
That’s what the canbus is for, you’ll have to program the buttons to it

Hello i have the exact radio head, so i just cut the yellow wire? And should be fine
My car battery, literally just died. It started with with a jump. Drove for 10 minutes came home to turn it off and turn it on and it struggled. Now i gotta go buy a new battery tomorrow.
Did you cut the yellow wire? Did it help?
Sorry I missed these questions. Yes, if you test the canbus (yellow or red wire) and it’s getting a constant source of power even after the key is off I would cut it. But also make sure the wiring universal wiring harness and if the wires line up properly with your factory ones.
@@stuffy3009 cut it and give it a try. You can always reconnect it.
hey ! i installed an a-sure radio. looks completely the same imo. but from the canbus i have a green/black twisted wire and don't know where it goes... i guess to the original canbus too?
cant locate that canbus in my VW crafter 2014 though. i hope someone here can help me. the radio works. but i don't know what it will change
If it works fine don’t worry about it. These Chinese made radios don’t always line up given they are universal for so many different vehicles. I wouldn’t stress it unless something is malfunctioning
Well I’m a little autistic in that way. Haha I’ve opened everything up just because I want to know what it does . Haha but it’s fine. Everything works I’m still testing (only one day installed ) so let’s see. I will go to a VW garage and ask them. 😅😅
Tanks!!! You are champion!!

Do u know how to root android head unit?
Rhe only things that i have a problem is the fact that when car on,off, the date and time aleays resets. Dont know how to fix
Check the fuse on the unit. Also the memory wire is hot.
I have unit that’s always behind or ahead of time but I don’t worry about it.
i installed a head unit 2 days ago, now if i turn on the ignition but now the engine my head unit turn on and drains the battery in about 10 minutes, will this solve my problem ? if not does anyone know a way to fix it ?
That’s good to hear!
Red is ACC and yellow is B+.
So cut the yellow wire from the canbus and its fixed??
@@QuizGameTVV yes saw it was constantly hot so I snipped it
mine doesn’t even turn on
Check your ground wire. Made sure your red and yellow wires line up with one another
Couldn’t you just disconnect the canbus entirely and remove the problem?
@@TrevorM1992 no. The canbus controls the radio working with the lights, reverse, steering wheel switch etc.
@@richirich1 That makes no sense because when you buy an aftermarket stereo like a JVC or Alpine, they dont need a canbus.
@@TrevorM1992 this isn’t JVC, ALPINE 😂
This is China my guy 😂 🤷🏾♂️
Just about ready to explore options to flash the unit with a different OS to be honest.
there r two yellow wires
There should be 2, one that goes to the main harness and one that runs to the canbus. If you can’t test it with a test light to determine which is hot, just cut it with enough space that you can rewire it back together if it isn’t the correct wire. Trial and error
Dont work

Any idea how I could test if my canbus decoder is working? Mine is constantly on so I unplug that 2 wires on the harness and plug in canbus decoder but just get no power at all.
If it’s constantly on you need to located the the tire that’s always hot. Take a test light and check the blue, yellow and red wires and see which one is still hot when the car is off. If one lights up your test light then that’s the reason the unit doesn’t turn off. Then you can do what I did in the video by snipping the wire.
@@richirich1 will give it a go when I’m home will probably comment again if I’m needing more advice thanks
