How to Stop Android Radio from Draining Your Car Battery 2023
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 1 окт 2024
- The video shows a tutorial on how to prevent your car battery dying from Android radio Standby Mode, it takes about three days and you will not be able to start your car. There is a way that you can fix that by fiddling with the wires, however even after doing that at the car electrician, still the radio stayed in Standby Mode for more that two hours. Be careful not to mess around the Settings and possibly modify unwanted changes. Good luck! #androidradio #androidauto #batteryfix

To really stop the battery draining change the power circuit to the cigarette lighter circuit that’s completely off with the car key when you stop the car.
This seems like a neat idea but many cannot handle electronics of the car. Mine was wired by a professional 😅, they should have known this thing probably, but yet again a professional doesn't always mean good at their job🤷🏻♂️
@@albinskenderovski It's really easy, I did it myself and I'm 81. In your fuse box detect witch is the one that protects the cigarette lighter and take it out, with a piggy back fuse holder take that place and connect a wire under the car dash, cut the original PWR cable from the harness and connect the new PWR cable that comes from the fuse box. Done, when you switch of the key there is NO PWR to the unit. Good Luck

@@nopenottoday4105 All you did was just connect an amp and nothing else? No other wiring?
@@nopenottoday4105 I also have an amp and it doesn't cause any issues. When I turn the engine off the amp is not working. The amp only turns on when they key ignition switch is on Accessory and forward of course. I wonder what could be keeping your Unit powered on all the time. My only advice would be to look into the canbus installation see how those wires are connected. I recently sent a photo link to someone looking for the correct installation of these units. You're a hero! You saved my battery on FIAT with ANKEWAY car Android. Now the standby is gone!
Thankkk youuu, it shut down completely. Only annoying part is that it takes a min to boot up again
Hi I just followed these steps and waited about 5 minutes but the screen continued to stay on, any tips? thanks for this video :)
Hi, did you make sure the settings were saved by going back into the settings? Sometimes it's not saved and it continues doing the same. Other times tho, the issue is with the wiring and cannot be helped by software, there is a pinned comment I think where a gentleman explains how to wire it properly :)
Great information, thank you so much. It worked like a charm!
Hi there. I found your video today because a few months ago I bought a Chinese Head Unit, and since I fitted it, if I didn't drive the car for a week my car battery would go flat. Only today I learned that these units draw more electricity than older radios, when left in stand by. Tomorrow, I'll be fitting a new alternator, which I think I damaged by using jump leads so many times, because of the battery being flat. Once I've done that, I'll follow your instructions here and let you know how I got on. Thanks for the vid!
I am so sorry that happened to you, I will be waiting for an update :)
How did it go?
I have it set to sleep for one day (24 hours) because I like the fast asf boot while in the city, after that it shuts down completely so the battery wont die on roadtrips, cruises etc. (in theory, no idea of that setting even works 😂)
Was there an option to set it to power off after 24 hours, cuz in the video it just says to turn off
@@zkb9947 Like I said it is in sleep mode for 24 hours and then powers off completely.

I just put an android head unit to my Seat Leon MK2, and this resolved the problem with the battery drain.
But, do you know, how to setup to shut down after 30min?
In another version there is possibility to 30min, 1hour, 1day, 3day etc etc.
Example, if you go to the shop, and next ignition you dont have to wait to boot up because the radio is in sleep mode.
I think with 30min standby mode didnt drain too much the battery.
Thank youuuu
Sadly some have the feature and some don't, if your menu is the same as mine then I don't think that feature would work for you
HELP please.
I have the same radio, I did the same steps, I have the same passwords, but the radio does not turn off after removing the key from the ignition switch. What additional steps could I do?
You have to wait about a minute before it turns off, if that is still not happening even after two minutes then maybe your issue is with the wiring. Just wait two minutes before testing if it works and make sure the settings have been saved.
@@albinskenderovski I found a solution to the problem!!!

How did you do your Firmware update
Hi, look at my other videos I have one for firmware update 🙂
Hi, I have car naviandroid 8227L multimedia. My multimedia always restarting… Anybody know that problem ?

Did this but it still drained the battery.
It worked for me! Thanks a bunch i was gonna need a new battery 😅
thank you bossmen
this did not worked for me.
anyone tried anything else?
sucks, jumping the car every morning!!!
If the settings has not worked for you, you have an issue with the wiring. Also once you apply these settings you must be sure you have a full battery and afterwards check if after 15 to 20 seconds the unit turns off completely.
Hey i dont know if youll see this but do you know how to disable the beeping sound when you turn the volume up and down?
Sadly that doesn't go away I think, you must tinker into the special factory settings and see if you can find it, some are in chinese that's why it's difficult.
Planning on getting a ownice or a t'eyes.. hope this works too.
Stop battery draining by switching the car on😒🥴
Hahahaha, I wish we could drive like that lol
Ive tried the same thing. But now i think that my new issue must be the bluetooth being on. Tried just normally knocking it off? Any ideas other than airplane mode ?
Hmmm I have no other idea, but usually if it is still being On it might be an issue with the wiring
Hi man, thanks for this. I have just bought a PODOFO for my 2009 Skoda, everything works the same as on your video, I accessed the interface with the codes and everything, and put shut down all then I heard about the battery that is hissed. From the photo of the low-end / high-end. Do you think my 2009 Skoda Fabia 2 (2007-2014 model I think) is low end or high end? I'd like to point out that I don't have any steering wheels and seats and everything.
I believe Skoda 2009 would be high end, have you fixed it by now?
My hu is very similar and I was able to find and adjust this setting. When clicking back to the first settings screen, I was prompted for the 8888 code again (wouldnt let me "back" to the home screen). I tried clicking "Reboot" this let me restart it. Also the App button took me home. But it is still not shutting down completely. I plugged everything in as instructed on the back of the hu. No idea why it wont shut off completely but I'll go back in a couple of hours and check if it turned off completely.
If you have any ideas why I'd be interested. Is it a wiring issue? Will ask Podofo support too.
@jeffkelly636 it might be wiring issue, same thing happened to me the first time
@@albinskenderovski I have since located the solution - there is a tiny red wire (paired wire i believe) with a tiny plug-in on the harness that, if this tiny plastic connection is disconnected, makes the unit shut off when they key is removed from the ignition. Thank you.
This is bs because you have to do this every time you shut off your car. Make it make sense
Yeah tell me about it, but it was the only solution if I wanted a full battery in the morning. How about if you do this at the end of the night, when you finish driving your car for the day, apply these settings and in the morning switch it back to fastboot 🤷🏻♂️ it really sucks but it was the only thing that worked for me and for a lot of people so far as you can see by the number of comments and views.
What if it still stays on after that??
I tried this trick but it didn't work for me? does anyone have another solution, even if the ignition key is removed, the radio only goes into standby
Check if the wiring is proper, sometimes it's the wires that are preventing it from fully shutting down.
So whats happening why the battery is draining?? i want to buy one even if your not using your car the head unit is still running??
Yes, on some cars this happens, but this workaround helps, the only caveat is the unit is not really fast considering boot time. Everytime you turn off the engine with this workaround the unit will shutdown after about 10-15 seconds and it needs a full boot when you turn the engine on again, which is about 30 seconds.
Some off my apps are not supported, it’s coming up with a error code 99z. How can I fix this problem.
Is this after updating? Or did you just buy this unit?🤔

It doesn’t worked for me. Even in the factory settings it says that I’ve configured to “direct shutdown mode”. Also my operating system is exactly like the on in the video. I don’t know why it didn’t worked…
Probably your wiring is the issue here, the first time I used the settings it was wired differently, after I took it to a car electrician he changed something and I have no idea what, then I applied the settings and it was working like in the video.
we'll see if it fixes it. i only started looking for a video like this after my battery was dead
have to find a jump and wait a month or so. i bought a volt meter to test it out. what's a normal curent value for parasitic draw?
I have absolutely no idea, for some batteries even leaving it like this it doesn't drain it completely. This might be the case for 100% healthy batteries. I stood no chance lol, it would drain it in about 3 4 hours.
I do all this things and nothing changed, my android radio not turn it off. Why?
Did you wait about 30 seconds to a minute for it to completely shut down? If it doesnt after that time then the wiring is done improperly, you can read the comments from about two weeks ago someone had the same issue and after rewiring and using the settings it finally worked as it should.
Can anyone help me please. After one year of successful installation of the android player in my Golf 5 now I am facing the another problem. When I inserted the key and half self started, my player boots and work fine but after completing the full started means complete the self then the screen turn into reverse mode. Don't know what happened. And same happened when car goes off half turned, the motor of the car shutdowns then I received again right signal and after the key completed out from unit it goes off. Please 🙏 any one tell me what happened.
Maybe your car is put into reverse, as the radio automatically goes into reverse camera after you turn on the car and it is put in reverse, if this is not the case maybe someone messed with the unit and changed some settings mistakingly. So your problem is: the radio screen goes into reverse mode when you power on the engine, and it goes back to normal when you remove the key from the ignition? Everything works fine except for when the car is running the screen is stuck in reverse mode?
I have same software as yours and followed steps but it still stays on after ignition off can you or anyone help please
This now is an issue of the wiring of your radio, you must ask a car electrician to wire it so that when you remove the key everything turns off. Mine was also wired like your and after properly wiring it the radio still stayed on but then I applied these settings and it was fine.
I followed all the steps and changed the setting however when I remove the ignition the screen still stays on, what should I do as my battery keeps draining everytime I leave the car for two days and don’t drive
My best guess is your wiring is not properly done, same thing happened to me. I went back to the car electrician and told him what is happening and he switched some wires and voila.
😩 Considering how blurry the screen is during your demonstration, you should have spoken what you were selecting!
Hello my friend, I couldn't film and talk since I was filming with my phone and no proper microphone, it would have sounded really bad, I didn't want to complicate things. The video has good quality just make sure you select highest quality in your browser or app, I am sorry if it didn't help you at all, I filmed it in a hurry since I was happy I actually made it work. Also, I didn't think it would get this many views, probably five to ten people but it got popular 🤷🏻♂️
In my car only disconnecting the orange and red plug (ignition) works, but after some minutes if i turn the ignition on, nothing happens.. the radio dies.. only turn on if i remove fuse and plug again.
You have to go to a car electrician my friend, they can wire it properly, mine had the same issue if I removed the canbus and tried to turn it on without a canbus, nothing screen was black, but use canbus and the radio would turn on but it would never shut down 100% and it would drain my battery, after proper wiring and doing the trick from the video now everything is fine. I hope you get it wired properly ✌🏻
I have suzuki dezire 2021 model i have some issue on android screen it turned on and off by its self do you have a solution for that
Yes, if the unit is turning off and on by itself, like a bootloop, it's probably because it is getting too hot, mine does the same thing but only during very hot days. My solution is a blast the air conditioning on the coolest temperature and direct the vents inside, in about three minutes it stops the bootloop but again, this is for units like mine xyauto.
My stereo has sleepmode ;)

Hey there

There must be some issues with the way your unit is wired and it keeps the screen on, it's best to revert the settings back to the way they were. Check with a local car electrician and see if they can wire the unit to not use any power after the key is removed and then do these settings again.
Working to junsun v1 i have problem my batery drawing help or no??
Sure, what kind of problem is it? Have you checked the wiring before applying the settings like in this video?
Is there a setting sleep for 24 hours and then shutdown ? What’s the user setting exactly? Thanks
Sadly no, the user setting I believe is the one where it stays on all the time so it can be used fast, fastboot option.
Thanks for sharing this information… I was facing the battery drain problem and was thinking about adding extra switch.. but u saved me.. just one question about wiring, where to connect yellow wire, now it is connected with battery positive and red with half key ignition..
Sorry it took me so long to respond, I don't want to cause issues for you since I really do not know about the wiring. Someone else wired it for me and I had to go back to their workshop three times and still it would not shut down completely no matter what they did, even tho they assured me it was fixed, still it wasn't. Only this software trick does the job, you have to ask someone who properly understands audio wiring. If it works like this, nice but if you still have some issue it's best someone knowledgeable wires it.... on a different note I remember posting a link to someone else, it leads to a photo I had which shows what to do with the wires if you are having trouble. Sadly I don't have the link anymore but it's in the comments, have a look when you got the time ✌🏻
Mate, you are a hero. Thank you!
I'm going to test this setting. There's also a cable "Low Use", in the cable tree from the Radio. Disconnecting it can save Battery too. I'll let you know if this one works too. Thanks for tutorial
Yes I tried with the cable "Low Use", actually took it to a car electrician and he said he fixed it and that he knew what the problem was. However, I knew that after at least two hours the radio should shut down on its own, so I tested it after about 4 and half hours later, the radio was still on. The next morning the car battery had died and I had to use jumper cables, with this Setting though everything is working fine, granted it takes about 10 seconds for it to boot everytime but it is worth it knowing the battery is not being used during the time the car is off.

I don’t find this option in the settings of android 10? Anyone know how to solve this
Sadly I don't have access to an Android 10 unit and can't exactly tell you what to do. But there has to be a way for the unit to completely shut down, I can try and look it up if you can tell me the exact model of the unit.
Thank you so much for this!!!!! I turned it to direct shutdown like you showed. Question, is there a mode that will shut it down completely after a couple hours? That way if coming back to the car it starts up quickly but doesn’t drain overnight. Thanks again!
That would be perfect but sadly they don't have that option😅, for some cars it doesn't drain that much battery, I have no idea why it does for others. These units are hit and miss but they got a lot of features, much more than the traditional stereos that come pre-installed. So, you win some you lose some lol.

I don't know if that's possible, depending on how your subwoofer is wired. Mine has the options for subwoofer volume but it doesn't do anything when I change it. It is found in factory settings then you go into usb settings and inside there it has Sound settings, the subwoofer is there, also some have it sound settings in main menu but it was not present in mine.

Hi, do you know how to change widgets on main screen?
Oh yes, you just long press and delete, but you wont be able to put different widgets, only icons can go there. The launcher is locked for some reasons and you cannot put anything you would like. You have to use a different launcher in order to use widgets but they make the unit much slower.
Hai. i already follow your step. But it still same never shutdown after ignition off. I already check and the setting already saved same like your shared in this video. Any others idea to solve my problem?
Wiring issue, there might be a wire that is not allowing it to sleep and read the settings from the unit., someone has already explained in these comments, I believe the people that wired it for you can rewire it properly for it to shutdown with these settings
This does not work your radio restarted it did not shut down
Sorry did you watch the entire video, there is a blank screen while I wait 20 seconds for the radio to shutdown completely and when I turn the key to start the car the radio then boots up from scratch 🤷🏻♂️, I made it start up again if that's what you meant ✌🏻
Love you man
Glad I could help :)
Du bist ein Gott, vielen Dank.
I already did it but my car battery still dies!
Are you sure the settings was saved, when you remove the key and wait 15 seconds then does the unit continue where it was left of? If yes then you need to do it again, if no then the reason might be your car battery being close to its end. In my case I fully charged the battery, then I applied these settings and ever since then it has never drained any battery. Also, I hope a good car electrician wired it for you since these have some wires that need to be cut depending on your car.
Just done that... Will see how's the baterry in the morning.. Thanks for the video
I am also watching mine I really hope it works or rather worked otherwise I will throw the radio and go back to old school
Did it work?
Mine stays on, any reason why? Thanks
I have no idea 🤔 maybe there is a wire that's been done wrong and it keeps the system sleeping withoud direct shutdown. It all depends on which car and how they wired it for you, same thing was happening to mine. Maybe try and apply the process again, also check into mtk engineering mode, there used to be an option for direct shutdown from there, I don't know if it has been removed.
Hi....I have the opposite problem. For some reason, my unit (similar to yours) is no longer fast booting unless I turn the stereo back on within minutes after shutting it off. And it takes 2-3 minutes for it to boot up. .......................What do the other 3 options mean? Mine is at "user mode".
Did you try the sleep then restart mode? I think that's what you are looking for, but it will drain your battery, especially now during winter
@@albinskenderovski I tried all the modes. Now the radio takes 5-15 mins to boot up and sometimes it freezes. I guess I got a dud. Seller won't do anything about it.
@@50088 look at my other video where I explain how to enable engineering mode, it's the one for increasing volume, use the steps to activate mtk engineering mode and in there scroll to the right until you get to options about shutdown, I believe there was an option about Sleep mode, try changing that and see how it goes. I do not have the car anywhere close by( different country right now) but if you go to that option just tell me what you can select or unselect and I will try and help you if I can remember how mine was setup in that area.
My radio always starts with the same volume level, I would like it to start with the volume that I established when turning off;

Direct shutdown still doesn't work. Still drains my battery.
Thanks it worked but do u have solution for radio static sound buzzing its so annoying please 🙏😘
That has got to be something to do with the wires. You gotta check that with a car electrician, 75% of the time static buzzing sound is because of the wires and the other 25% comes from the radio unit itself where the connectors for the speakers are. I am glad the shut down procedure works for you, and I am sorry I do not have a complete solution for the buzzing sound. I hope you fix it, take care :)
I have the same radio were do u go to turn on the lights on the radio
It's in the factory settings, then backlight or key light. There are options in there, go ahead and see if yours are turned down all the way.
