- If you are suffering from having your After market Android radio screen draining your car battery. Watch this to adjust your settings.
The issue is these screens go into sleep mode and continue to drain battery even when the car is switched off.
Watch this video to change the settings on your screen. The location of the settings may differ between different screens but the overall concept is the same.
Thank you! I had to jump my car 3 times after installing one of these. I don’t understand why this is a default setting. You’re a star.
Hope it helps!
Dayyyumm thank you. Got my Subscribe. Support the guy.
I literally just took mine out and packed it up ready to return and then watched this video😂
You are a hero.
I was been told that my android player had gone wrong and power ic needs to be replaced.
But after this video I just disabled sleep mode and wow car started normally in the morning.
Genius thanks ! Some android radios have the sleepsetting under developer mode. It's called "keep screen awake while charging"
Pozdrav imam taj problem i trosi mi bateriju ako se auto ne koristi 7dana
To really stop the battery draining change the power circuit to the cigarette lighter circuit that’s completely off with the car key when you stop the car. Take the circuit from the fuse box with a piggyback from cigarette lighter fuse to the android unit instead of the harness power
Hey man, can you please elaborate? Any reference video might help. Thanks in advance
Hello. Will this new setup still allow the memory settings like radio station memory, to be intact? Thanks.
🤔 You making sense 👍👍🙏
I’ll try this , hope it’s working
@@Sroor90010 I’m sure it will work. Let me know any problem.
Thx for this video man i was looking for this for hours and you in 1 minute help more then pages and pages in blogs
Glad it helped!
The red cable always provides active power in the Android car. I spliced the red and yellow wire together, yours was one. and now everything works. Thank you again.
did u splice the yellow into red or red into yellow?
Nope, the yellow wire is used to provide constant power even with the car off, the red wire should be connected to an accessory supply. Why would you splice them together? They are separate for a reason.
@@Pro1erhave you got same issue mate?
@@haiderali-lk2tp No issues on two different Android head units.
@@Pro1ermy Android unit is staying on when I take that power wire off it don’t come on like the video
Awww brooo thank you heaps for this I wasted money on x2 battery’s couldn’t understand why it kept going flat
You are most welcome! Glad it helped!
Is there any eye protection app for car android head unit as it hurts to eyes at night time while driving.
Turn brightness down or go to settings find go dim with headlight option i think it in display
Basicly goes to dark mode
Yeah me 2 on second battery from AA , hopes this helps save me spending money in garage
Thanks so much! I just found this out of nowhere and I immediately did this to mine! It’s an aftermarket touch screen radio for my beetle. It was in sleep mode as well. I thought if I just leave some of the red/orange wires I’ve been hearing about unplugged then that would do the trick! I would have lost so much battery if it wasn’t for u! I hope this will keep it off as it should! I will update!
Thanks for the tip , hope this helps just changed setting under general from 1 day to no sleep,
Having to call AA every day to jump my Honda
Liked the tip thanks👍🏽
How is your head unit possible draining you battery overnight??? I have both of mine set to sleep after 3 _days_ and I have left the car unattended for over a week without a drained battery.
Hi there.... Many thanks for your tips and details.... Would you mind any ideas to improve ride quality, comfort, and isolation of sound and noise in Pajero..... Thanks in advance
Hey to improve ride quality change the suspension. Also get sound insulation done at an audio store it can reduce noise levels I have seen on cars that have done it
If anyone doesn’t have this feature here’s another way to get it to work:
When you know you’re going to turn off your car for a few days do a factory reset of your device and turn off the screen if possible, then turn off your car.
This will erase all your settings unfortunately, but it should stop it from sapping power from your battery.
Thanks for the extra details!
Besides, you may consider remove the audio fuse. Plug it back when you need the audio.
Good video however I have a problem with the original head unit on a 2009 pajero when I turn off the ignition the head unit comes back on and the above display just stays on all the time in effect draining the battery any idea what could be causing this..also the cigarette light socket is always live could this be causing the issue..
Pretty cool but it also means you need to wait 30-60 seconds until the unit is usable.
Adding a 12V LiPo battery for it.
Thank you very much! I had purchased the same HU for Skoda Fabia and the touchbutton light was flickering even after locking the car. Even though it has stopped after I tried your recommendation but I am still not sure that this Chinese HU will not drain battery. If i remove the Radio fuse from the internal fuse box, will the problem be solved? I am thinking to remove the fuse for overnight parking and again insert the fuse in morning.
I suggest you disconnect the constant power line to the radio
Or just take it out completely lol
Why do these androids even have this feature? Who would want their battery drained!
So it works instantly instead of having to boot up. Still a dumb setting
it is useful if you installed it with reverse camera.
Thank you so much! This was really helpful❤
Totally makes sense man .... thanks a million
You are most welcome!
Next, you will be struggling with reverse camera every time you start the car.
Hi!
I recently bought a Mitsubishi Montero Limited 2011, so it does come with the old radio unit, can you tell me where did you bought yours, it looks almos OEM!
I bought it from Dragon Mart in Dubai
So that means if you have to pop out of your car for a few seconds, but switch off for security, the head unit boots every time?
I mean you could pop into quickly swipe your car for petrol but that means a reboot?
There is the 2hr sleep setting, which would put it to sleep and only shut down after 2hrs, so if you pop out for less than 2hrs, it should wake back up without a reboot. Longer than 2hrs, it would be a reboot.
@@Laserpico1985 Any sleep mode that draw over 0.01A will cause issue to the battery included life span.
Am I missing something? I did exactly what you said and my truck still has dead batter the next day 🤔
Then your radio is not turning off. Take it back to the place that installed it and ask them to disconnect the always on live power wire.
I figured it out. There’s one more setting to check, and it was the Power settings in the Developer settings. For me it was set to high power output. I logged into Developer settings and changed it low power saver mode, and now, my truck battery no longer dies. Now I’m happy 🛻😁
I think it still dies. Just slower.
I have a 2004 Honda accord with a android stereo and it doesn’t go into sleep mode so I have to manually shut it off and kills the battery
i have recently installed same android multimedia, and what i noticed immediately was the sound quality. With the factory radio it was vary good sound with good bass. Whit this one, pfff. Is there any setting that i am missing to improve the sound or i need to purchase amplifier?
Honestly these units are hit and miss with quality, I dont think an amp is going to solve it. If you want better quality suggest to get a branded radio
make sure none of the speakers are wired out of phase.
I have an amp and a subwoofer and it still sounds mediocre.
something similar happened to me. i found that the EQ had a preset that said something like hd sound on. it made it sound terrible. when i turned it off it was much better.
Install any DSP(the 1 plug and play behind the android harness) and it works. Add an underseat subwoofer if you need more bass.
On my previous old android head unit with 1gb ram and 16gb storage, i set it with sleep mode forever and find it helpfull, so it will directly goes to homescreen when the keys on and even when cars engine start it only blinks a second and goes back to homescreen instead of booting from scratch. And i never had any battery drain issues.
But why now that become an issue ??
You may check the parasitic draw for the audio. Anything above 0.01A is not good.
At the same time, it will shorten the battery lifespan.
I think it's better and safe to press first the shutdown button of your screen before turning your car off.
The issue is some keep drawing power even when screen is off
İ tried that doesnt work
@@lifeofmilessame here
In that case I suggest to disconnect the constant power line on the radio
@@SandTrack 🤔 OK I WILL GIVE THAT A TRY. BUT WONT IT STOP KEEPING MEMORY?? 🤙🤙🤙
How do you make the battery voltage appear on the screen? Thanks in advance for your help
That voltage reading on the android is almost useless. The reading is the voltage optimize for the Android, not the actual battery reading.
Why 2 wires for +Ve connection -- A7 Red wire through ignition key & A9 yellow wire directly connected to battery - why ??
what happens if we cut the A9 B+ yellow direct battery wire ?
Pl check and confirm.
the culprit is the yellow wire B+ that giving this trouble.
i did it and its work but everytime a have to setup date and time , do u have any fix 4 it ??
u can set the time setting to automatically update from gps. It takes half a minute once u are out of garage to get gps fix and time corrects automatically
Thanks a ton very helpfull video.👍👍
Glad it was helpful!
Hmm, when the ignition starts the boot time of the unit isn't that bad. It is about the same time as my manufacturer's navigation unit.
What if I don’t have the sleep mode option on new systems?? My battery is draining and nobody seem to understand this!
My same problem. Did you found solution?
basically what happens is some of these units dont actually turn off only the screen turns off so they still draw power via the 12v constant cable from the harness you plug into. What some people do is connect the 12v constant power cable to the cigarette fuse, so the unit only ever has power when the ignition is on.
Cut the constant power wire so it stops draining
Install an on/off switch to the yellow B+ cable
@@SandTrack I did that, and the Android is not powered forever. lol
if you set it to screen not sleeping, would it still keep saved fm stations and EQ settings in memory?
In my experience the EQ settings are always reset to zero when restarting Android. I wanted to solve this problem, but not even the Chinese gave me a solution. Probably stops it on all head unit Android devices
some screens are faulty and dont save the settings
I am using the cheap little Sparko China without having this issue. Only sometimes it reset my reverse camera setting.
How to make a battery indicator to show the voltage on the battery?
Its pretty simple Youd have to go buy a Voltage Gauge (one for automotive so it shows the proper range) and then wire it to the battery The hard part is finding where you want to put it in your car and running the wiring
Some devices do show battery voltage some don't
That's the useless indicator. It is the voltage on the Android, not the battery.
If I disconnect the always on 12v supply to my android head unit, will the unit still work or will it not get any power at all?
Yes, if you mean switch off the B+ yellow cable. I did that to my car. It works 100% but I can't use the reverse camera immediately.
I did that with mine, but now the unit shuts off immediately, when I turn on again enters a boot loop until it auto restores every time , any suggestions?
you may consider add a 12V lithium polymer battery purposely for Android.
Does this mean it will take longer for the unit to start up every time you use it?
it reboots so yes
Correct yes
Yes, that will be the new issue. Just imagine you can't use the reverse camera, and your kids suddenly appeared behind your car.
Hi there i did change settings to no sleep but my andriod player donst reboot after turning car on and keep draning my battery please guide me
Then ask your car audio shop to disconnect the always on power line
After 3 weeks of not turning on my Audi I found unable to start the engine. Battery power is around 10.6. Will recharge battery and check out your settings.
Good luck!
@@SandTrack Well battery was dead for sure. Had to buy new one. Voltage was low before going dead so who knows. Anyway, got new battery, 14.4V which is good and set the android HU to power off after 30 minutes. One thing I noticed with the battery change. Before, I kept having a sound boom when turning on the engine while music was already on. Now the boom is gone which is good.
Same happened to me but even that if it’s shut down it’s still draining that what I come to know
Take it to the place that installed it and ask them to disconnect the always on constant power wire
You can DIY to dc the yellow B+ wire(it is all behind the Andoid) see if you still can power on the Android. haha!
Hi, may i know what launcher you are using in ur android screen?
not sure it was preinstalled
Its very useful for me tnx my friend
It's my pleasure
Yakhi I have a 2018 pajero 3.8 that has the rockford fosgate system. I bought and installed the same exact screen from dragon mart that has carplay. Everything runs great (although the OEM shitscreen that comes with the car sounds around 20% better in regards of volume and quality) but it sometimes used to just decide to cut off the sound completely and I had to restart the car to get any volume back. I went back to the shop and he tried multiple screens that all had the same issue. He changed something called the canbus but still no use. He kept swearing and telling me that he fixed multiple pajeros with the same units and all of the work great except for mine. Help yakhi please the OEM screen is giving me cancer. 2018 with an old technology such a shame…
the issue is some of these screens are unbranded and the quality is hit and miss. I once installed one that was really bad and tried another brand and worked fine
@@SandTrack Can you share which brand a d where to get it? Much thanks
Mine doing the same..its draining my battery..any advice what to do ? Thanks
Check and replicate the video
There is no sleep mode in my Chinese android player there is shut down delay option which I turned off but it didn’t solve the problem as it appeared UI without boot image or logo. Please help any idea what’s happening
I suggest you go back to the shop and let them disconnect the constant power line to the radio
Did you find an other solution for this problem. Better as bringing it back to the shop?
In this case the equalization settings are reset whenever you restart Android?
not in my case it keeps the settings
I have my radio set to reboot when I start the truck but this android head unit still draws 3.6 amps while the engine is shut down and asleep, drains the battery at most draw should be 0.050 millamps max while asleep
Mine is 4.8A. I have almost need to jump start on every 3 days. Install an on/off switch to the yellow B+ cable and it became 0.00A.
do you know how to configure the radio to be turned off when you turn off your car?
It should be wired correctly and it will turn off with the car
You should have it wired to the ignition switch fuse and it'll do it or check which one has no power when car is off then you can connect it there
But don't you lose the radio station memories that you have programmed into the radio every day that's the problem that I'm having I believe that these have internal batteries just like laptops do to keep the operating system running in the background at a minimum and my Android radio that I bought must have that battery really really bad shape and every time that I get in the car I have to reprogram all the stations and the audio will not work unless I get the little SIM card pin and reset the unit I have to reset the unit every single time it's not even holding enough battery to keep the operating system at the very bare minimum
Hi
Website to buy this screen ?
Hey this is from Dragon Mart dubai
Anybody know how to power the radio while in ACC not in the full ON position ?
Radio? Here is about Android.
9” 10.1” Android Navigation system IPS touch Screen 1080P
Nd i can't shut it down ? Plz help
Install an on/off switch to the yellow B+ cable.
my car was keeping the top screen on 24/7 until i went into car settings and updated it to be for the car i have
Wow i never know that before, thanx man
Yes I recently discovered this!
Thank u so much bro 👍🏻👌🏻
mine shows the wrong door opening on the unit. When I open my door, why is that?
You may change it on "Car Setting"
Thank you!!
this is dangerous because you can't use the reverse camera immediately.
how to enable display of battery voltage on android radio?
SOme screens have it and others dont by design
You Absolute legend
Dont have this Sleep Mkde option. My battery is drained.
I guess it varies on software version
go back to the place you installed it and cut the wire that provides power when car is off
@@SandTrack thanks for the advice.
@@sulayman960 Then, the Android could not be power on forever until you reconnect it! Haha!
thanks for this video
They should have a backup battery to keep the RAM active.
Even if a laptop has the cmos battery, it is still drawing from the main battery during sleep mode.
When you put it to no sleep then you have to reset the radio stations memory everyday are you kidding me if your battery can't handle a basic cell phone being on for 24 hours then your battery needs replacing I have my car set to one day 24 hours and I don't have to keep setting the memory for the radio stations and my car's battery has no problem at all so I would say time for a new battery if your cars battery cannot handle does very tiny load that these Android tablet radios withdrawal from a battery I set mine to one day and I stopped with the problems that I have to set the radio stations every single day cuz the radio was rebooting every single day every single time you start the car it's not supposed to do that
Anything more than 0.01A parasitic draw is not good for any battery.
Menu, sleep mode...
Damn I can't find that option:/ and its draining my battery.
You have another option. Take it back to the seller there could be an issue with the wiring
I cant find mine
In some models it's not there
Thanks
why not put it on 2 hours probs wont drain the battery
I wanted to play it safe
After doing this, my car stereos time gets reset
You can add a 12v lipo battery for it.
Atoto s8 is 🗑 trssh.. DO NOT BUY
