I've been looking for an Android head unit with two features: 1) Ability to tune FM HD radio channels (USA version of DAB) ; and 2) Ability to interface with and control my SiriusXM SXV300 Tuner (which is advertised as working with name brand car stereos displaying the SiriusXM-Ready logo). The tuner was purchased with a Kenwood DDX9907XR Stereo that I had installed in 2021. Do you know of any adapters (probably USB) that could connect between an Android head unit and the SXV300 10-pin DIN cable (that one cable provides power, control, and audio signals)?

have any recommendations for a music player for music i have on a USB? just got an xtrons unit and the music player just shows a bunch of folders in order of album name and doesn't group anything by band. i live in the middle of nowhere and cell service is spotty at best so can't really stream anything . i only listen to music in the car so i don't have the music on my phone at all (just audio books)
@@garylineker651 thanks this sorta helped it shows the folders by artist and what not but doesn't recognize the mp3 files. but will recognize them if i import the files into the music folder in the head units system. it's just weird, I had an issue with the head unit not letting me connect to the playstore or put in my google account. contacted support and never heard back. i eventually got it to work on my own but have still never heard back from them. probably just going to return the unit and get a better one (one you recommended) it's still within the return window and worry if i ever have another issue down the road.

Do you know if there will be other brands that will provide head units with HDMI input like Mekede did ? I tried their model but the HDMI app provide no important settings such as scaling or brightness. This is a feature that I would love to see integrated in my car head unit.
Why HDMi to a auto headunits? The screen is meant as a touchscreen for music and console access, it’s not meant to watch Netflix or your Laptop content. It’s definitely not meant to be used as a Airlineseat entertainment centre. HDMI is not a necessity , you have literally too much time on your hands or just wanting to tweak your headunits to show off to friends that you have a custom stereo? I don’t keep my vehicles long enough to want to tweak the shit out of them. The purpose of the headunits replacement is to modernize the console to a oversized Samsung tablet.

can you use custom launchers such as smart luncher, Nova luancher ect apk's on the head units the same as you would a android tablet? for example if i have purchsed one of these these launchers would i be able to install it on the device? also imagine running emulators of these devices for the kids to play games with a blutooth controller on long journeys ect... and i have one of those cheap obd 2 scanners that work of blutooth im going to check if its compatible with the app from my phone then can transfer the apk to my head unit if it works. :) also a honoroble mention, i take it Shareit app should work that would allow you to send the same apps you from on your mobile device and other files directly to the headunit, migh come in handy.

There a very few places where you can get someone to answer the phone to walk you through buying the right equipment. I am hoping the car tech studio company can walk me through the buying process to make sure I get the right equipment. With that said, what brand are their head units? Great video as always! With regard to navigation apps, I find TomTom Go better than Waze on Australian roads. I have a Chinese no-name Android head unit which mostly functions well but will randomly reset to factory settings. It's quite annoying because I have to download my apps again and restore all of my preferred settings. I can't find any way of backing up and restoring from a backup. 😕
If it has android software and any software can be sideloaded. Most people replace their factory stereo. SYGAV is the leader in auto androids headunits especially for Toyotas

What would you suggest regarding privacy on majority of Android head units cos as it appears most of them (including my iDoing) do not have built in screen lock. As a result say when going to car shop for repair all the content of your unit is readily available to any one interested.... (your contacts, WhatsApp or Messanger convos, browsing history and so on). There is literally zero privacy after engine is on. Tried a few screen locking apps from Play Store but all of them have some issues, especially when after reboot or prolonged screen off, unit is unprotected as background processes are actively being killed by the system to preserve resources and non system apps wont start up automaticaly including this screen locking apps. This is a really big issue for this units.
Headunits should never be locked because it’s connected to the main ECU and is assisted to your Obd2 . The headunits screen must be accessible to all mechanics
Love your Channel, just got into Android head units myself. I don't like Android auto because it limits what you can see and what you can do to what they say. One thing I am missing though, to be able to see text messages when they come through my phone. I can make phone calls, but I would like to see text messages as well. I understand it's dangerous to try to send text messages, but I just want to know when they came through who sent them and what they said. If it's important I can pull off and respond to it.
I think over hte next few years these android units will be refined to the point that they will put the main players in the market under a lot more pressure. Not much innovation in the traditional makers of headunits at all anymore. With hardware quality on the rise and true android 12-13 units coming on the market with serious audiophile quality components its a no brainer.
I paid 3K for a premium navigation and sound package when I got my new car 10 years ago and not once have they updated their dashboard. Navigation map is also outdated and to keep it updated I have to pay $275 for a new SD card yearly. Now that I discovered Android head unit I can just get a nice one for $275 and get free offline map app updated every year. The future is Android head unit imo.

This is only a launcher, the radio is an app on its own , whatever you last left your app or radio (app) is will do the same on any launcher.

I had a double DIN android headunit in my 2000 E55, I had to 3D print a facia adapter for it as the MB nav/headunit is slightly oversized.

There are plenty of clock widgets available, these can be used if your launcher has multiple screens that you can swipe between

Navigation : OSM and+ (Open Street Maps). Hands down the best offline. I tried many others and just keep going back to OSM. So many features.....

Waze is not good if your in some other countries, like Bulgaria all map words are in Bulgarian ....
Waze sold to Google , it’s never been the same, now they are slowing it down causing people to no longer use it.
