Welcome back. Feel lots has changed over the last 6 months. Seriously suggest you look at the dudu os headunits. Currently on the closed beta for the 7862 boards. Feels like a oem setup.
Hi. Love your content.... I want to put an android headend into my 2000 Mercedes Benz E430. Your videos are helping me figure out what I need to do....
Very informative and can't wait to see what launchers are good as hoping there is one similar to default android auto but just runs on the head unit no phone necessary
I think over hte next few years these android units will be refined to the point that they will put the main players in the market under a lot more pressure. Not much innovation in the traditional makers of headunits at all anymore. With hardware quality on the rise and true android 12-13 units coming on the market with serious audiophile quality components its a no brainer.
I paid 3K for a premium navigation and sound package when I got my new car 10 years ago and not once have they updated their dashboard. Navigation map is also outdated and to keep it updated I have to pay $275 for a new SD card yearly. Now that I discovered Android head unit I can just get a nice one for $275 and get free offline map app updated every year. The future is Android head unit imo.
Love your Channel, just got into Android head units myself. I don't like Android auto because it limits what you can see and what you can do to what they say. One thing I am missing though, to be able to see text messages when they come through my phone. I can make phone calls, but I would like to see text messages as well. I understand it's dangerous to try to send text messages, but I just want to know when they came through who sent them and what they said. If it's important I can pull off and respond to it.
Thanks for the amazing review My Question:, Is it possible to android car launcher of my choice with the AI launcher on my factory head unit. I have some very nice launcher I would love to use with it Thanks
Great video as always! With regard to navigation apps, I find TomTom Go better than Waze on Australian roads. I have a Chinese no-name Android head unit which mostly functions well but will randomly reset to factory settings. It's quite annoying because I have to download my apps again and restore all of my preferred settings. I can't find any way of backing up and restoring from a backup. 😕
Hello, I really love your content ! Thanks for bringing us knowledge about Android head units, it's kind of hard to understand how it works alone. Do you know if there will be other brands that will provide head units with HDMI input like Mekede did ? I tried their model but the HDMI app provide no important settings such as scaling or brightness. This is a feature that I would love to see integrated in my car head unit.
My god, your back🎉🎉🎉. Hope all is well, I have messaged both through various videos and the web site several times without luck. Are you back to direct messages through the website?
Thanks for as always interesting video. What would you suggest regarding privacy on majority of Android head units cos as it appears most of them (including my iDoing) do not have built in screen lock. As a result say when going to car shop for repair all the content of your unit is readily available to any one interested.... (your contacts, WhatsApp or Messanger convos, browsing history and so on). There is literally zero privacy after engine is on. Tried a few screen locking apps from Play Store but all of them have some issues, especially when after reboot or prolonged screen off, unit is unprotected as background processes are actively being killed by the system to preserve resources and non system apps wont start up automaticaly including this screen locking apps. This is a really big issue for this units.
Hi, great video, I have been struggling to find help in finding a Chinese model for my 2014 Toyota Sequoia with the JBL system. There a very few places where you can get someone to answer the phone to walk you through buying the right equipment. I am hoping the car tech studio company can walk me through the buying process to make sure I get the right equipment. With that said, what brand are their head units? Are they comparable to Teyes and Joying? Thank you
I've been looking for an Android head unit with two features: 1) Ability to tune FM HD radio channels (USA version of DAB) ; and 2) Ability to interface with and control my SiriusXM SXV300 Tuner (which is advertised as working with name brand car stereos displaying the SiriusXM-Ready logo). The tuner was purchased with a Kenwood DDX9907XR Stereo that I had installed in 2021. Do you know of any adapters (probably USB) that could connect between an Android head unit and the SXV300 10-pin DIN cable (that one cable provides power, control, and audio signals)?
Hi! The navradio app that you show. Does it automatically resume and start the radiostation you left when you turn the car off and then resume when you start the app?
Just purchased a new and managed to get my smartphone connected to android auto.. Have installed the usual music streamers and a couple of nav programs. What I would like to do is install a simple large clock widget! Any ideas on how to do this lf possible Thanks
How do I get torque pro on my device? Ive had the app on my phone for a few years and love it, and just upgraded to a modern head unit, but it doesn't show up for me in Android auto... do I need one of those ai things?
Torque is not an Android Auto app. Yes, you will need an AI box. Check the link in the video description for the best one I've tested and use the discount code
@@SaabUnleashed oh that's really cool! You might have seen my Mondeo ST in the BTCC livery driving round. I just installed a head unit so your videos were really inspiring. Would it work, could it damage the head unit?
I think they're all free, or at least have free versions. (for example, Torque Lite, Nav Radio Free ect). Personally, I don't mind paying a couple of quid for an app I'm probably going to use everyday to support the developers. They can all be used completely offline too, with the exception of Waze, Sirius XM and Zapmap

Indeed, and even the cheapest brand named units have pretty poor sound reproduction

How hard is it just to make a clock app! It would be nice if one of the screens just showed the clock so it would be easy to see.
There are plenty of clock widgets available, these can be used if your launcher has multiple screens that you can swipe between
