It’s always tickled me that in Liverpool and surrounding areas, these are universally known as “One-Tens”, because they were £110 when they were originally released.
As someone born in the Pool and still living here, I can confirm they’re still referred to as “One-tens” even though the price has rocketed. “One-seventies” just isn't quite as catchy

really proud of the Rose Anvil team. The video format is just perfect -- from shoe info to jokes and memes and even to ads. So many tiny details. Thank you!
The first retro's of these had the PSI % marked on the bottom of the shoes. New pairs (like the one you cut) have much smaller bags than even the 2010 retro's
The ones from the 90s felt way different than these current ones do. The air units were larger and generally the shoe was quite a bit more flexible for whatever reason. They also gave you arch inserts. The new ones are too rigid up front and for whatever reason, slightly narrower. The worst aspect of the 95s is that shank where if you step on a curb with metal binding wrong and connect with it shank first, you are going skating-especially in the wet.
The Nike reboots of 90s styles are trash. I had a bunch of running shoes and my Air Pegasus back then were feather light, super flexible, and almost like running flats. The remake I bought are stiff heavy trash. Nike, don’t piss on my head and tell me it’s raining.
In the Netherlands everything with air that came out was instantly liked. They were part of the uniform of the 'gabber' rave culture in combination with Cafello or Australian brightly coloured tracksuits and black bomber jackets.
Huge fan of the air max line, especially the 1, 90,95,97, and plus. It's great that you're giving an educated review of the shoes compared to other shoe review channels cause most of them have never burnished or skived a day in their lives! What you didn't mention is that the original ones used gas that was environmentally dangerous but actually improved the performance but they had to do away with it. I vaguely remember watching a vid with a scientist explaining this and he managed to get the original pair and confirmed the presence of that chemical.
Damn, gotta stop putting these chemicals in the shoes to save the planet; even though no one really cares when a major chemical or power company company has a leak and releases untold amounts of sulfur hexafluoride (The worst greenhouse gas some call it) into the atmosphere for months without telling anyone, Duke Energy.
Hexafluoroethane/Sulfur Hexafluoride - for their large molecules and inert/stability attributes, they went all in on SF6 (which was unregulated at the time) but when it was finally being addressed by the global community Nike started phasing it out - apparently there are multiple shoe manufacturers whose designs used the gases, not just Nike, and while Nike went to nitrogen seems the industry is still looking for a gas that functions in the application as well as the greenhouse ones. I worked at Nike making air soles for a while back as a young lad temp working light industrial labor jobs...even when you got stuck with the needle, nobody cared because they said it's all inert and won't cause blockage or other problem even if you shoot it right into a vein somehow...lol I need to find a few people from my younger days and have a chat. SF6 ended up being way worse than Freon because of its absorptive and reflective properties - Freon would eventually break down and contribute to ozone hole but SF6 was creating the actual oven and insulation effect that is keeping/building the heat here.
Absolute iconic European kicks . Loving it . I have owned and worn a pair of 95s and bws since 1994 for bws and 1997 for 95s . My feet are actually shaped to fit inside . Like binding I guess . What you don’t see in modern 95s is the extra arch support that was in the ogs . Literally the only runner for high intensity training . Ie boxing , sprinting or kicking a ball . Plus the wedge shaped design pushes your weight forward onto the balls of your feet . Honestly you need to try these for skipping , boxing and explosive sports . Side note . Wearing these actually cured my shin splints . Between straightening my arch and pushing the weight onto the front of my feet . I would recommend these for anyone who needs a high performance workout runner
Nobody wears these to workout in , after one hour of wearing them your feet becomes a puddle of sweat, I have used And sold 5 pairs,I'm never buying again, the comfort just isn't there
I wanted these shoes for so long. They make me nostalgic for the mid 90s when I saw everyone wearing them in the classic black grey and neon green. But when I finally bought them the plastic spine on the bottom would click against the ground or linoleum flooring when I walked with them. I ended up having to sand it down with sandpaper so I wouldn't hear and feel the plastic clicking against the ground.

think the air max plus is way more comfortable😅 the laces on my pair of 95's gets loose after a few steps so i had to double lace them every time and the sound that they make when walking in these is annoying
Picked up a triple white pair of 95's for 25 bucks a while back and it's a really strange shoe that doesn't _feel_ comfortable immediately on foot, but for some reason is comfortable in the long run of wearing it for a few hours. Never been at the end of a day of wearing them with my feet hurting.
Great analysis and video as always! The AirMax 95, is part of a long set of shoes from Nike with horrible quality foam materials with terrible long term durability (especially compared to other brands including Adidas). There are hundreds of stories in articles and sneaker forums about Nike shoes, including the AirMax 95 degrading after a couple of years into a mushy mess and the shoes falling apart, even without ever being used. Quoting from Wired Magazine's excellent article "The Sneakerheads Racing to Save Their Kicks From Decay" it's common for Nike shoes made with this type of foam to crumble away to nothing as they sit tucked in boxes or hidden in closets. The materials used to make them degrade over time, causing the shoes to fall apart, rendering them worthless. Nike clearly benefits from millions in sales from sneaker collectors and the AirMax 95 is one of the most popular for that market for them. There are kids that save up their hard earned cash to buy and collect Nike shoes, only to see them disintegrate from nothing but sitting in a cool, quiet closet. If they won't correct the issue, Nike should put a disclosure about this aspect of their materials, and "use by" date in their sneaker boxes.

In fact, I think the most fundamental reason why these retro air bag shoes are uncomfortable is that the soles of the eva rubber have been adjusted, because the softer eva rubber will powder and crack after a period couple years latter, and now nike has replaced some high-density eva after, the storage time can be longer, but at the expense of comfort, like the air max 95,97 & jordan 11
I attribute the spike in 2018 to Roger Federer's "new" Nike Court Vapor 10 performance tennis model. Offered in two new Air Max 95 'greedy' and 'neon' shoe collaborations.
The heel has chambered sections. The rear section is low pressure. The two side chambers and the directly-under-the-heel chamber have higher pressures. This likely skewed your CC amounts for volume in the heel.

Born in 85 this was the first shoe that caught my eye and made me think about what was on my feet. I’m a freak for neon two so the gray scale with the green gets me excited.
I have about four pairs of Air Max going back 25 years or so. I have around six pairs of '95s, I find them more comfortable, possibly due to the size increase. I have a few pairs of Adidas, mostly shelltoes (inc the Bape ones) but I find them too narrow. I reckon I've gone through about 50 pairs of Adidas in my lifetime but don't like the retros they're doing i.e. the 80s re-releases. I dread to think of how many pairs of trainers I've owned/bought in my lifetime. Has to be over 300.
I really miss the kb8's or crazy 8's from the mid 90's. With the airmax launch I seem to remember the insole having more contour and arch than current re-releases? Wondering if I'm going crazy now
King shoe, I’ve been commenting to do this for awhile! Some of them like the 2015 seem more cushiony than the newer ones which seem stiff. Hard to really compare the modern to the og cos they change so much quality wise. They are not doing much for the 95 legacy these days with ugly colours and fabrics. My favourite, I prefer it than newer shoes because it’s so sturdy on foot and the design is crazy.
My favourite shoe of all time, no hesitation. Comfiest and best looking trainer. (Never pay full price for them though!) The pressure disparity is a good thing! It's so much more comfy than having the same pressure throughout, like an Air Max 97.
Nike has actually been using thin felt panels with no stitching lately. It's not the worst thing maybe. My favorite's the free rn 5.0 been wearing mine for 2 years. Although they can soak up water in these sections and and take a bit longer to dry out. But of course it's a shoe that's made for heel first running so the sole's a wedgelike shape, not great for your knees. I've even used them for running on rocks and getting up on a train. I have a little ptsd when I see 'punk boots' but I find cutting everything in half very calming. Thanks again!
Does it still squeak? Around the late 90's, I bought a pair of Nevados air cushioned shoes at famous footwear. I wore those for years. They were the most comfortable shoes I've ever owned. The cushion was the same each and every day and never gave out. The air chamber material seemed stretchy and provided lots of comfortable cushion. The midsole EVA type material finally cracked and split causing the shoe to squeak when wet. Best shoes I ever had. I wish I could find another pair to rival them.
My wife bought me a pair, I tried using them for sport, and they are the MOST UNCOMFORTABLE trainer I've ever worn... OK for walking, but shockingly bad for running...
I had some of those back hen they first came out even took some to the brother & sister in law in the czech republic thares and ours lasted about the same time 14 months and they went flat . I got 2 pair of 3/4 boots black and ntural color yesr later but there still going strong. Happy Trails
We need you to do the Uptempo 95s, 96s and 97s! Oh, and I still want you to do those Goadome boots. I want to see how bad the leather really is on those.
These Trainers were super popular in the uk. We called them 110’s because they cost £110. Whilst you guys were rocking Jordan’s. and foam posits? We were on the air max
Funny you mention a thumb tack. I had a person sitting on a treatment table at my job. He was wearing 95s and had a flat thumbtack jammed into the forefoot of the sole. I asked if he wanted me to pull it out because I wasn't sure if it was preserving his air unit, but we took the plunge. No popped air unit 😂
Ive wear these and the heal wears thin after almost about a year and you start almost walking on the plastic shank which has you clicking when you walk.
You should do breathability tests on those, cause I always find hard to wear for ex. AM 95 or 97 or 98 in hot summer days, they're just like a plastic bags on your feet, mostly cause of those fake leather panel layers.. cannot imagine someone accualy running in those in summer...
I have a history with this pair. During high school I fell in love with it. It was very expensive for a student at the time but I eventually got my first pair just before I graduated. I had 4 in total and I wasted 2. 1 because I broke the heel bubble, kept wearing them until the front bubble broke and it’s at this time that it became a total loss. It’s very uncomfortable to walk with them once they’re punctured. The 2nd one, the front fabric gave up, it worn off and eventually made it impossible to wear. I regret that I didn’t try harder to fix it. I remember it was the carhartt collab. Anyway I couldn’t do much I wasn’t in my home country and I let the 2 other pairs back there. It’s been 3 years that I’ve been away and I can’t wait to wear them back. It’s really my favorite Nike ever. And I’ll not stop at 4 pairs in my life 😂
Hey man, I've been fascinated by Onitsuka Tiger shoes. I currently own a pair of them, they're very comfortable. I was planning on getting their Japanese made ones as my next pair. Would love to see if you could compare them and give us a review. Thank you!
Have always had AT Least one pair of 95s (all black) in the rotation- yes it’s a criminal shoe, probably cause it’s a good looking silhouette but also great if you need to take off running 🏃🏿♂️ 💨
I always thought they were popular here when they came out. Most kids my age couldn't get them though. $175 sounds steep, but they were about $130 in 1995. I had a pair in the early 2000's. They are fine, but if you have flat feet like I do, you probably aren't going to enjoy wearing them for a prolonged period of time and definitely not for running.
take in mind, you will find some leather on older pairs, but they usually will cost you a fair bit the ones with like fogged units and old old shoes, but the leather is likely shit
Always loved these! Got a pair on now! New pair next week! Always will have 95s! Only trainers Iv ever had that fit perfect on my feet tbh 😅 I can’t help it , I just love them lol
95's are one of my favorite Air Maxes. Especially 95 Ultra (more roomy and lighter). They are stiff but the midsole has a nice rocker shape which helps you move easier, more efficient. And the quality compared to other sneakers is actually great. Personally I do prefer good quality synthetic materials over cheap real leather covered with tons of paint that flakes, creases and cracks. After about 6 months of wearing my synthetic air max 95 ultra still look brand new. In comparison my nike sb force 58 after about the same time of wear look like a dog poop. And the leather toebox is covered with cracks. Same thing goes to base models of AF1, jordans, dunks and other cheap semi-leather sneakers which are actually less durable, less comfortable and less breathable then their synthetic/mesh counterparts.
Hey Weston. I love all your videos and I get that sneakers make you money, but could you please throw some work boots in the mix every now and then? Anyway great video bro. 👍🏼👍🏼
Great video! As a suggestion for the next to cut - Clarks Desert Boot 2. You already did the first version of Clarks Desert Boot and really liked the boot. Would be a great comparison video.
You're looking at some current 95's, the OG's were way different. The back air was massive and didn't have a seam, they were HEAPS better. Hopefully Nike will give them the 30 Year treatment like they have done with the BW's and the 90's
I just wish the Lunar Fingertraps would come back. They were the best all around “training” shoe I’ve ever worn and they weren’t even super expensive, like $80 or $90 at most.
Love this series! Future videos can you use air max OG colorways. I know it makes no difference in the assessment but I think it looks cooler like the previous video w the AM1 in white/red
Were absolutely useless once you stood on a thorn or nail. £££ thrown away. Once tried to import some from USA. Called customs & excise to ask roughly how much duty etc would be charged on trainers. They asked " is there any special technology in the sole ? " They seem to imply they charge you more if you have an air bubble in the heel 😤
Have you ever thought of cutting boxing gloves in half? I mean, it would bem pretty nice You could compare the leather between them and I bet it would bring a different demograph to the rose anvil channel.
I only ever owned a pair of 95's which I have a sentimental attachment to. Was quite uncomfortable at first so rarely wore them, unfortunately hydrolysis set in and now the soles have literally crumbled but the upper is brand new. Any tips where I could get replacement soles will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for doing this air max series!
Man I remember my dad hating on the air bubble at shoe carnival back in the day. Shoe carnival used to push heat!
Another legendary video! I love the 95s
you're boosting ur height quite a bit with these right?
Does it still squeak? Around the late 90's, I bought a pair of Nevados air cushioned shoes at famous footwear. I wore those for years. They were the most comfortable shoes I've ever owned. The cushion was the same each and every day and never gave out. The air chamber material seemed stretchy and provided lots of comfortable cushion. The midsole EVA type material finally cracked and split causing the shoe to squeak when wet. Best shoes I ever had. I wish I could find another pair to rival them.
My best was the ant at 9:26. Completely threw my concentration on the video!
Thanks for this one. Please do an Asics Gel trainer one day. I've always wondered if it's a gimmick or not.
My wife bought me a pair, I tried using them for sport, and they are the MOST UNCOMFORTABLE trainer I've ever worn...
OK for walking, but shockingly bad for running...
exactly, so uncomfortable from front foot side. I also wear them only as a lifestyle like casual, can't think of any sport activities with them.
I had some of those back hen they first came out even took some to the brother & sister in law in the czech republic thares and ours lasted about the same time 14 months and they went flat . I got 2 pair of 3/4 boots black and ntural color yesr later but there still going strong. Happy Trails
I’ve been waiting for this episode for so long. Thank you!
We need you to do the Uptempo 95s, 96s and 97s!
Oh, and I still want you to do those Goadome boots. I want to see how bad the leather really is on those.
uptempo 94s comfiest out of all of them (have them all)
In America, AF1s are the G Nikes. In England, 95s are the G Nikes
These are my most comfortable shoe
Please review the Asics gel kinsei, it has amazing gel technology ❤
The 95’s wee some of the most comfortable shoes I had in the early 2000’s.
Air max 95s are pressured to 25 PSI they used to write it on the soles
Is that glue squishing out between the midsole and uppper or a raggedy edge? Either way, I'd expect a cleaner finish on a $175 shoe.
95s are the textbook definition of a love/hate shoe.
Great work. Love to see what is inside the Goadome boots if possible.
I'm not the only one.
I do want to see the leather on the Goadomes.
The air unit is the same one from the 97s.
These Trainers were super popular in the uk. We called them 110’s because they cost £110. Whilst you guys were rocking Jordan’s. and foam posits? We were on the air max
Nike Air Trainer 3, was my high school shoe in 1990 and I loved them.
Love this shoe so much
The two heel air pockets had 25 psi on the outside and 15 in the center.
you're boosting ur height quite a bit with these right?
Ive wear these and the heal wears thin after almost about a year and you start almost walking on the plastic shank which has you clicking when you walk.
That's because you're dragging your heel.
timeless classic best design ever. you wear them because theres no other shoe closer like the am95. they are still pretty confort
And I’ll not stop at 4 pairs in my life 😂
You need to do more of these I’m loving it Nike are my favourite trainers ever!!!!
I’m not even a criminal yet I don’t mind these shoes, they look decent in black
Hey man, I've been fascinated by Onitsuka Tiger shoes. I currently own a pair of them, they're very comfortable. I was planning on getting their Japanese made ones as my next pair. Would love to see if you could compare them and give us a review. Thank you!
I like that colorway tbh, and amazing job as always man
High quality video as always, so much details it's crazy
Have always had AT Least one pair of 95s (all black) in the rotation- yes it’s a criminal shoe, probably cause it’s a good looking silhouette but also great if you need to take off running 🏃🏿♂️ 💨
LOL. "Airmax Statistics Sheet." I see you.
i had to dump about 5 or 6 six air max 90s. they were in medium condition but the sole started to sound like a sick duck.
Air Max 90’s next 🤝🏼
Finally! Been waiting on this one for a while
The squeeky sole sound made my dog come look for his toy with a hopeful and happy face.
I'm enjoying these "air" cushion series
Love the little bug almost getting stepped on! hahahahaha
Favourite shoe, it's super comfy and it looks great.
you're boosting ur height quite a bit with these right?
The 95s are very comfortable. I can wear them all day long with no issues.
take in mind, you will find some leather on older pairs, but they usually will cost you a fair bit the ones with like fogged units and old old shoes, but the leather is likely shit
Always loved these! Got a pair on now! New pair next week! Always will have 95s! Only trainers Iv ever had that fit perfect on my feet tbh 😅 I can’t help it , I just love them lol
Great breakdown. Have you done a Nike Air Uptempo? The Scottie Pippen bball shoe with full max air? If you haven’t that would be a great one to do.
Can be Nike Air Max Plus and Air Max Plus III next?
Yes!
I still have my first Air max 95 from the late 90's and I just purchase a new pair and had them shipped to me. But at a discount price.
Same thing goes to base models of AF1, jordans, dunks and other cheap semi-leather sneakers which are actually less durable, less comfortable and less breathable then their synthetic/mesh counterparts.
you're boosting ur height quite a bit with these right?
Suggestion: best boot socks. My fav are darn tough out of Vermont.
Thx for all your reviews bro good vibes
Now I know which sneakers to wear to the tack fields !
Were absolutely useless once you stood on a thorn or nail. £££ thrown away.
Once tried to import some from USA. Called customs & excise to ask roughly how much duty etc would be charged on trainers.
They asked " is there any special technology in the sole ? "
They seem to imply they charge you more if you have an air bubble in the heel 😤
Love the Air Max series. Thank you.
Have you ever thought of cutting boxing gloves in half?
I mean, it would bem pretty nice
You could compare the leather between them and I bet it would bring a different demograph to the rose anvil channel.
Please don't tell me you blurred out the Michaelangelo's Vitruvian man!
FINALLY ROSE ANVIL DID THE 110 OMG
Always interesting, keep these coming please!
Anyone remember the Nike Air Splash? One of the most beautiful shoes they created.. There was also an Air Splash 2
Thrice! Great band. Nice shirt.
