As an OG (old guy) who was 18 when the Jordan 1’s dropped… of course they were cool, but it was mostly because of the wild red, white and black color pattern. We had never seen anything like it. But as for blowing our minds - it was just another basketball shoe. But the 2’s? These were a whole new animal! 35 years later and they are still my favorite!
Coming from another Old Guy, most of the people I knew were still wearing the 1’s in the original OG color ways…a friends father was a Nike Rep, so we got 1’s for like $32.50 after his discount..it took the 3’s w the air window and elephant print that finally got us away from the 1’s… After 35 years of J’s, the 3’s are still my favorite 🤘🏽
I actually liked the original Jordan 2. I’ve never had any of the retros, so I can’t comment on those. When the Jordan 2 was released, it was unlike any other basketball shoe I’d ever seen. It was also the first Nike shoe that I can remember that didn’t have the swoosh, so that was a big deal at the time and made the shoe unique.
Completely agree!! Something about the 2 when it came out totally got me!! I couldn’t afford it back then but I just thought it was so different than anything I had ever seen. And I love the fact it was the only shoe that never had the swoosh on it!! I bought an early reissue for my collection and it still is my absolute favorite!!
I think it's different for our generation. We were on the scene for every (new) release. We anticipated every Jordan release ever since the 1's. Our generation purchased for likes, not hype.

Jordan 2s were my first number Jordans owned and will always be my favorite. Never had issues with the eyelets. But definitely sole separated and cracked after a good amount of years
My 2016 Jordan 2 Chicago Lows are among my favourite. I've worn them to death and they are still comfortable despite leaking. The 2s were originally released in 1987, after MJ himself had healed and returned to the court. He finished the 1985-86 season in Jordan 1s. Mr. Jordan averaged 37 points per game and won his first Slam Dunk Contest in AJ2s.
It would be great to hear you discuss "Italian-made" as a concept. Most people don't realise that you only legally need to have 10% of production actually located in Italy for it to be labelled as "Italian-made".
You legally have to do the last stage of the production and it needs to be "sostanziale" (substantial). The definition of substantial is then defined industry by industry. In shoemaking you can have the clicking and closing done elsewhere (as well as the tanning) but you need to do the bottom-making in locally. Pretty much like Made in England shoes. In general Made in Italy is more similar to Made in Germany or Swiss Made rather than Made in the USA where the amount of domestic labour required is far higher. I think Wes covered it a little during the white sneakers series in 2020.
No 3 eh? Personally never owned the 3 but man did I wish I did. I remember literally looking at my friends feet constantly that had them. lol The ones you mentioned were game changers.

And it just goes so we'll witg many of my fits, very comfortable and The silhouette and styling is just so nice. And just like the Jordan 1 they suck to actually play basketball in if your used to more modern shoes. And I'm someone that's usually a big fan if the 6-14 the 1 ,2,4,5 never had much appeal to me
It wasn’t always that way. Sometime after the first release in 1987, Nike lost/destroyed the original lasts. It resulted in various iterations of the shoe which were the product of deconstructions. It was never the same as the toe box from the retros beginning in 2002 made the shoe appear boxy and ugly, quite frankly. Nike also deviated from the original colorways, which made the shoe look clownish at times. They added ribboning/trim which was not part of the original and generally departed from the simple, elegance of the original shoe. The heart and sole of that shoe was in the original mold. Nike claims to be bringing the original back this October. Let’s see.

Have you seen the other Nike breakdowns? You aren't going to see big differences between these things, they're all constructed pretty damn similarly. Frankly, I hope boot & niche footwear breakdowns pick back up because mainstream sneakers are boring - they're all the same couple variations of cheap ass overpriced junk(I say this as a long time Nike wearer & current owner; objective statement rather than subjective).
Not true. That's the myth. We'll see when the Sonny Vicarro documentary comes out. He always wanted to go to Adidas. He even used the Jordan 2 outsole on the Jordan 1 because he liked the support.
@@3d1k3 either way Jordan didn’t care for the Jordan 2, that’s why he was leaving Nike, literally said he was leaving Nike in his Book. It was Tinker Hatfield’s Jordan 3 model that he showed Michael with Phil Knight on the golf course that Michael decided to stay.
Each Jordan has an esthetic element from the previous which is why they look similar in certain aspects. I just got in the A Ma Maniere Jordan 2 (my first 2) and I'm pretty excited to review them. Great breakdown as always 👌
You should definitely do some Jordan 4’s. As far as design aesthetics for the time, I remember they were the first kicks that created a massive hype and kids went crazy for. Especially the black cements. I was lucky enough to have had both the 4’s and 5’s, with the 4’s still being my fave Jordan’s, if not any sneaker, all time…. with the Air Max 90’s running a close second. Another pair I’d LOVE to see on here.
This is and ALWAYS has been my favorite Jordan. It was the first pair I bought as a teenager in 86. I have several colorways and I am just enjoying it’s time in the sun to pick up more pairs. No one has even really liked them and they will fade away again, but I will always be here waiting…..😃
Jordan 2s may be ugly, but I think they're underrated in how comfortable they are. That thick midsole feels great underfoot and the ankle collars are super padded.
I always HATED 11s’ because of the patent leather. I actually just grabbed the 72-10s’ because fuck it. All black with that creamy outsole 😍 I was blown away by how comfortable they are. A pair of 11s’ would be cool to chop up and see what’s inside

I’ve always liked the Jordan two because they were different looking. I have the original Jordan two I had the collaboration between the Jordan two with the air unit showing and I also have the Jordan two where the laces were covered and they just stuck out of the top of the shoe to be tied up. I am also looking forward to some of the new Jordan two retros that are coming out.
They always looked like Puma, Converse, and Reeboks. I find it amusing when people say they like them but literally 30 years of collecting and I have only seen a handful of people wear them until 2020.

Can't wait to get a couple pairs of 2's. For some reason the bulky design and the different use of materials has me sold. They just look cool and to me has the best "retro" look compared to other models. Timeless design that always seems to settle in fashion
Everyone loves them now cuz of the hype. It's still one of my fave Jordans! Always have loved the 2. Problem is, before this year the shape has been awful. This year they seemed to have that shape closer to the OG. Still not perfect but I'm all for the love that JB is giving the 2 this year.
I actually think that these particular 2s are really clean and I like them a lot. I think that 2s are a bit underrated because they were just never given those novelty points or were well displayed when they first dropped.
I would love to see the classic from the 70's cut apart: the Mephisto Match, in tan grain leather or black. Worn by Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sean Connery, the Pope John Paul...they're supposed to be the most comfortable walking shoes in the world. Hand made in France, best thick, full grain European leather, no synthetics, SUPER durable, they're made to last and are not a throw away shoe. 100% natural rubber, they also have some kind of air cushioning system and soft-air insole...which circulates air and is supposed to accommodate your gait...thx!
@@IblewuponyourfaceIII Well, i was kinda fed up with the whole sneaker thing, its just always the same thing with different colors or slightly different materials...i mean, they're all just made in the same factories in Asia...and i also supinate quite badly when i walk and couldnt find a sneaker that suited me or stopped my heal from tilting outwards. My friend's grandpa told me about Mephisto shoes because they are anatomically correct and have great support. I looked into them and loved the story. I got two pairs and am super happy with them. The quality is just Awesome. They're super durable and the leather is like, thick. I dont actually have the Match myself, I'm trying to get it because its like, the iconic shoe (along with the Cruiser), the stuff above is just what i know about it, but i can't because they're sold out everywhere in Europe. And buying from the US is too expensive. They're like, the opposite of what a Nike or an Adidas is.

Nobody hates the Jordan 2. That's just lame current day internet/social media talk. You either have to adore something or detest it. The Jordan 2 never elicited an extreme enough emotion for anyone to care that much. They were just an OK shoe back then, and that’s what they are today.
Seriously. I don't even know what's supposed to be so "ugly" about them - they're fine. In fact, they're probably a little bland if anything. And, as we know, there's no bigger crime in 2022 than being bland(aka, not as offensively 'unique' as possible). Except for being bland ironically, because irony is peak "cool" in 2022 obviously.

I just bought a pair of Adidas Terrex free, hiker 2 Gore-Tex and they are incredible. I think you should cut those in half next because they are some of the lightest boots that I have ever worn and they are very responsive I know they’re not leather, but they are Gore-Tex and waterproof
false: jordan 1 has crap and fake leather for most models. The truth is Jordan Brand is inconsistent in their quality. Sneaker heads know how you cant trust Jordan Brand at all no matter the model on materials. Newer models however use almost exclusively synthetic materials because of performance tech breakthroughs and thus not scrutinized as much while the retros are usually a cash grab or not.
Love the J2s. I remember when they dropped after the 1s. They from a design standpoint was next to the 3s if you really look at with a close eye. I think people didn't like them, because they didn't explode with color like the 1s. Also take into account jordan didn't play that year due to a broken foot. People didn't see him in them so it made it difficult to gauge the shoe, if he wasn't wearing them. Some from that era didn't like them, and others did. It was about 55/45 split on the liking of the shoe. But anyone who came up enough after this shoe will not like it ( bias opinions of course). If you grew up well after this shoes long since been a memory, even if they brought these back you're not going to like them, or understand cause you weren't there when they came out.
I love 2's. They changed the sneaker game. They were too advanced. The 3's and 4's used the same platform as Flights and cross trainers. But they used ideas only seen before on the 2's. I was there. I had every pair when they came out, 1's through 15's.

I've loved the Jordan 2 from day 1 when it originally released. I like the silhouette & it's 1 of the most comfortable Jordans to wear. Definitely in my top 10 of Jordan silhouettes. Nike really needs to go back to giving us ( the consumer) the o.g. quality leather. People wouldn't mind paying these prices so much. SMH!!! Really appreciate the great vids. that all white & red accented Jordan IIs look fire! very underrated silhouette IMHO. put a decent colorway and it may do well as a lifestyle shoe just like how the Jordan 1s are now a famous lifestyle shoe.

Aesthetically the 2s were a complete backwards step. The subsequent 3 and 4 were what saved the Nike x MJ relationship and we can thank Tinker for that.
Jordan 2's have that aesthetic, especially the Pythons. They were fresh back in the day and still fresh. Now with a full length air unit, you can't go wrong. These kicks are super clean and go with anything. Most underrated Jordan by far. These were $100 in 1986, we all wanted them, but not many could afford them. $100 in 1986 is equal to $288 today. I remember playing basketball with some kids that had them, I couldn't take my eyes on those shoes, they looked so futuristic compared to the 1s. But my Mom wasn't about to spend $100 on shoes in 1986\7 so I had to wait until they were re-released to cop some lol.

Actually love the 2's. I saw them come out in a time where space things and aliens were hot! These shoes looked like moonboots and were, allthough prestegious due to high price, also a shoe that stood for innovation, the future and punk believe it or not! All the retros suck.. the OG cut didn't have that obnoctious piping on them, that piping puts me off too! Sadly jordan brand has a mega problem with their retro game! That's why for me jb is just a perfect example of everything whats wrong with corporates!

Do the 11’s they are really unique. Carbon fibre shank, opaque outsole, patent leather mudgaurds, air unit. Very interesting shoe. I just got the 72-10 lows they have leather unlike the highs.
Been ballin since the 80's in every pair of AJ's that MJ wore. 2s, 3s & 4s are things of unrivalled beauty, but 2s are the most comfy by a long shot. Gotta be the Chicago 2s or new Black Cement 2s colorway though, those are both beautiful sneakers!
actually i wore the buy boots all the time when i lived on mt hood. i wore them on a national tv show doing winter survival. everyone who is a prepper or survivalist or mt adventure man. they wear them. they love them. i know many who had them. they also hook up to the military skis or snowshoes. they are meant to hood the heal to the binding etc.
Please do another pair of New Balance! Either the 990v3 or the 2002r. 990v3’s are very popular and imo the materials used are very premium, I want to know your opinion. For the 2002r, I would love to see you break down the sole, especially the gel in the heel portion of the shoe. Most 2002r’s are made in Vietnam and you can compare the craftsmanship and materials to a “made in USA” 990v3.

In order to do this correctly you would have to find a pair of the original ones from the eighties. They haven't been made like that since that 1st release. All of the ones since then are just retros and were made with regular sometimes sub-par leather.
Would have been very cool if you did the same test/cut in half with tha Jordan 2 "Chicago" from 2022. They are supposed to have the original set up with only the heel air unit:)
Do a grading system similar to the "Doug Score" that Doug Demuro does for car reviews. He has certain areas of a shoe he grades. Maybe get more creative with the grading system.
Keeping with the vintage style sneakers, I suggest making a video about the Avia 830. It’s a modern version of the “820” that they released in the 80s.

I hated the Jordan 2 until I bought a pair, laced them up, and slipped my foot into them. They are now in my top 3 of Jordan silhouettes.

I bought them in 5th grade, and i bought them again as an adult. better than the 1 and 3, imo...
The 2s are classic with a lux blend on it not for everyone at present they are retroed as designer items and very expensive.

It would be great to hear you discuss "Italian-made" as a concept. Most people don't realise that you only legally need to have 10% of production actually located in Italy for it to be labelled as "Italian-made".
You legally have to do the last stage of the production and it needs to be "sostanziale" (substantial). The definition of substantial is then defined industry by industry. In shoemaking you can have the clicking and closing done elsewhere (as well as the tanning) but you need to do the bottom-making in locally. Pretty much like Made in England shoes. In general Made in Italy is more similar to Made in Germany or Swiss Made rather than Made in the USA where the amount of domestic labour required is far higher. I think Wes covered it a little during the white sneakers series in 2020.
It's like the Italian olive 🫒 oil that comes from Spain, Greece or Portugal. It's all pure marketing.

It wasn’t always that way. Sometime after the first release in 1987, Nike lost/destroyed the original lasts. It resulted in various iterations of the shoe which were the product of deconstructions. It was never the same as the toe box from the retros beginning in 2002 made the shoe appear boxy and ugly, quite frankly. Nike also deviated from the original colorways, which made the shoe look clownish at times. They added ribboning/trim which was not part of the original and generally departed from the simple, elegance of the original shoe. The heart and sole of that shoe was in the original mold. Nike claims to be bringing the original back this October. Let’s see.

You should definitely do some Jordan 4’s. As far as design aesthetics for the time, I remember they were the first kicks that created a massive hype and kids went crazy for. Especially the black cements. I was lucky enough to have had both the 4’s and 5’s, with the 4’s still being my fave Jordan’s, if not any sneaker, all time…. with the Air Max 90’s running a close second. Another pair I’d LOVE to see on here.

This is and ALWAYS has been my favorite Jordan. It was the first pair I bought as a teenager in 86. I have several colorways and I am just enjoying it’s time in the sun to pick up more pairs. No one has even really liked them and they will fade away again, but I will always be here waiting…..😃
Jordan 2s may be ugly, but I think they're underrated in how comfortable they are. That thick midsole feels great underfoot and the ankle collars are super padded.

I always HATED 11s’ because of the patent leather. I actually just grabbed the 72-10s’ because fuck it. All black with that creamy outsole 😍 I was blown away by how comfortable they are. A pair of 11s’ would be cool to chop up and see what’s inside

I’ve always liked the Jordan two because they were different looking. I have the original Jordan two I had the collaboration between the Jordan two with the air unit showing and I also have the Jordan two where the laces were covered and they just stuck out of the top of the shoe to be tied up. I am also looking forward to some of the new Jordan two retros that are coming out.
They always looked like Puma, Converse, and Reeboks. I find it amusing when people say they like them but literally 30 years of collecting and I have only seen a handful of people wear them until 2020.
The jordan 2 you mentioned that got its laces covered is called the "nu jordan 2s". It came out somewhere in the early 2000's i remember.

Everyone loves them now cuz of the hype. It's still one of my fave Jordans! Always have loved the 2. Problem is, before this year the shape has been awful. This year they seemed to have that shape closer to the OG. Still not perfect but I'm all for the love that JB is giving the 2 this year.

I would love to see the classic from the 70's cut apart: the Mephisto Match, in tan grain leather or black. Worn by Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sean Connery, the Pope John Paul...they're supposed to be the most comfortable walking shoes in the world. Hand made in France, best thick, full grain European leather, no synthetics, SUPER durable, they're made to last and are not a throw away shoe. 100% natural rubber, they also have some kind of air cushioning system and soft-air insole...which circulates air and is supposed to accommodate your gait...thx!

@@IblewuponyourfaceIII Well, i was kinda fed up with the whole sneaker thing, its just always the same thing with different colors or slightly different materials...i mean, they're all just made in the same factories in Asia...and i also supinate quite badly when i walk and couldnt find a sneaker that suited me or stopped my heal from tilting outwards. My friend's grandpa told me about Mephisto shoes because they are anatomically correct and have great support. I looked into them and loved the story. I got two pairs and am super happy with them. The quality is just Awesome. They're super durable and the leather is like, thick. I dont actually have the Match myself, I'm trying to get it because its like, the iconic shoe (along with the Cruiser), the stuff above is just what i know about it, but i can't because they're sold out everywhere in Europe. And buying from the US is too expensive. They're like, the opposite of what a Nike or an Adidas is.

I just bought a pair of Adidas Terrex free, hiker 2 Gore-Tex and they are incredible. I think you should cut those in half next because they are some of the lightest boots that I have ever worn and they are very responsive I know they’re not leather, but they are Gore-Tex and waterproof
most likely more real leather because its an older model im sure the new models have cheaper materials
false: jordan 1 has crap and fake leather for most models. The truth is Jordan Brand is inconsistent in their quality. Sneaker heads know how you cant trust Jordan Brand at all no matter the model on materials. Newer models however use almost exclusively synthetic materials because of performance tech breakthroughs and thus not scrutinized as much while the retros are usually a cash grab or not.

Love the J2s. I remember when they dropped after the 1s. They from a design standpoint was next to the 3s if you really look at with a close eye. I think people didn't like them, because they didn't explode with color like the 1s. Also take into account jordan didn't play that year due to a broken foot. People didn't see him in them so it made it difficult to gauge the shoe, if he wasn't wearing them. Some from that era didn't like them, and others did. It was about 55/45 split on the liking of the shoe. But anyone who came up enough after this shoe will not like it ( bias opinions of course). If you grew up well after this shoes long since been a memory, even if they brought these back you're not going to like them, or understand cause you weren't there when they came out.
Jordan 2's are one of my favorite Jordan's. They have a clean classic look to them.
I love 2's. They changed the sneaker game. They were too advanced. The 3's and 4's used the same platform as Flights and cross trainers. But they used ideas only seen before on the 2's. I was there. I had every pair when they came out, 1's through 15's.

I've loved the Jordan 2 from day 1 when it originally released. I like the silhouette & it's 1 of the most comfortable Jordans to wear. Definitely in my top 10 of Jordan silhouettes. Nike really needs to go back to giving us ( the consumer) the o.g. quality leather. People wouldn't mind paying these prices so much. SMH!!! Really appreciate the great vids. Aesthetically the 2s were a complete backwards step. The subsequent 3 and 4 were what saved the Nike x MJ relationship and we can thank Tinker for that.

Jordan 2's have that aesthetic, especially the Pythons. They were fresh back in the day and still fresh. Now with a full length air unit, you can't go wrong. These kicks are super clean and go with anything. Most underrated Jordan by far. These were $100 in 1986, we all wanted them, but not many could afford them. $100 in 1986 is equal to $288 today. I remember playing basketball with some kids that had them, I couldn't take my eyes on those shoes, they looked so futuristic compared to the 1s. But my Mom wasn't about to spend $100 on shoes in 1986\7 so I had to wait until they were re-released to cop some lol.

Actually love the 2's. I saw them come out in a time where space things and aliens were hot! These shoes looked like moonboots and were, allthough prestegious due to high price, also a shoe that stood for innovation, the future and punk believe it or not! All the retros suck.. the OG cut didn't have that obnoctious piping on them, that piping puts me off too! Sadly jordan brand has a mega problem with their retro game! That's why for me jb is just a perfect example of everything whats wrong with corporates!

Do the 11’s they are really unique. Carbon fibre shank, opaque outsole, patent leather mudgaurds, air unit. Very interesting shoe. I just got the 72-10 lows they have leather unlike the highs.

Just got my 1st pair a few weeks ago and love them. Very supportive and comfortable. They are just not the coolest looking on the earlier releases.
actually i wore the buy boots all the time when i lived on mt hood. i wore them on a national tv show doing winter survival. everyone who is a prepper or survivalist or mt adventure man. they wear them. they love them. i know many who had them. they also hook up to the military skis or snowshoes. they are meant to hood the heal to the binding etc.
Please do another pair of New Balance! Either the 990v3 or the 2002r. 990v3’s are very popular and imo the materials used are very premium, I want to know your opinion. For the 2002r, I would love to see you break down the sole, especially the gel in the heel portion of the shoe. Most 2002r’s are made in Vietnam and you can compare the craftsmanship and materials to a “made in USA” 990v3.

I believe the original release of the Jordan 2 had a full length air unit if I’m not mistaken. The reissue this year didn’t have full length air.

Jordan 2s in later iterations have become even more comfortable with different foams and top loaded full lenght cushion
I'm not a huge fan of the 2 hi tops but I love these as a low top version. I have several pair and I recommend them. Very comfortable.
In order to do this correctly you would have to find a pair of the original ones from the eighties. They haven't been made like that since that 1st release. All of the ones since then are just retros and were made with regular sometimes sub-par leather.

Would have been very cool if you did the same test/cut in half with tha Jordan 2 "Chicago" from 2022. They are supposed to have the original set up with only the heel air unit:)
Do a grading system similar to the "Doug Score" that Doug Demuro does for car reviews. He has certain areas of a shoe he grades. Maybe get more creative with the grading system.
Keeping with the vintage style sneakers, I suggest making a video about the Avia 830. It’s a modern version of the “820” that they released in the 80s.
Also, please do the shattered backboards. You should also try and get an original 85 pair too!
Great video as always. Would have been cool if you did a new "cut in half" on the Jordan 2's from late (december, the "Chicago's) 2022 till now. The "new" Jordan 2's have the OG specs/tec like tel OG'S from 86/87. Like no front foot air pocket. I think you can find some for a very nice Price 😃
