More details are emerging about the real motivations behind the Luka Dončić trade, and it’s becoming clear that this move wasn’t just about basketball-it was about power, politics, and profit. The Adelson family, Nevada-based casino moguls, have never hidden their disinterest in the game itself. They bought the Mavericks not to build a winning franchise, but to leverage the team as a bargaining chip in their quest to legalize gambling in Texas. A month after acquiring the team, they purchased the site of the old Texas Stadium, announcing plans for a multi-billion-dollar casino resort complete with a stadium and team facilities. But there’s one problem: gambling remains illegal in Texas, and as a lifelong Texan, I can tell you the odds of that changing are slim to none. Now, with their efforts stalling, this trade looks less like a basketball decision and more like a power play-an attempt to pressure both Texas lawmakers and the NBA. If they can’t get gambling legalized, they have a clear alternative: move the team to Las Vegas. This isn’t about basketball. It’s about the relentless expansion of the sports betting industry and the money-hungry machine behind it.
The NBA is not going to let them move to Vegas because they would rather take the expansion money to start a new team there. The owners won't agree to it either because they want their share of the expansion money. If that's the end game of the Adelson family then they have no clue what game they're playing
The LEAST crazy theory is that Mavs own a time machine - they saw that 2029 draft pick they got will be the literal GOAT of the sport and decided to go for broke to get him.
The title is a VAST understatement on what happened. Honestly the Lakers/Mavs both need to be investigated on how this went through. Even Mark Cuban didn’t even know till after it was done.
This trade is also overshadowing the fact that the most terrifying 1-2 punch since Shaq and Kobe was just formed in San Antonio with Fox getting traded to the Spurs

On the flip side, just imagine AD hearing about this and then realizing the world thinks this trade sucks even though he's involved in it. Like he isn't even worth it.
Jxmy, you're missing the simplest reason here: The Mavericks want to blow up their team and use the lack of fan support as an excuse to move to Vegas. The NBA is also suffering right now ratings wise. They need a Lakers-Celtics/Cavs finals to drum up ratings and get people interested. The new TV deals are coming, which leads to expansion eventually. The NBA had Luka shut down for a month while the Lakers and Mavs worked out a deal to trade Luka and AD for each other. Adam Silver, LeBron, all these guys knew this was coming. This didn't happen out of thin air. The Mavericks owner is Miriam Adelson, mega Trump donor Las Vegas casino billionaire empress widow of Sheldon Adelson. Her son in law and Mavericks Governor is Patrick Dumont, the guy who Nico Harrison claimed "laughed" when he heard about the Luka trade idea. Nico Harrison is a 20+ year marketing exec from Nike, which employs Luka Doncic. Dumont and Nico are the puppets for Miriam Adelson. This is why there was no Luka bidding war. The Lakers need a future star, the NBA wants money and relevancy using the Lakers, and since the Mavs gave Luka up for almost nothing longterm, the NBA owners are going to reward Adelson and Dumont with Las Vegas. They will tell Texas to legalize gambling, which won't happen. They use that among other excuses to move to Vegas. Adam Silver still needs Seattle and Dallas as expansion franchises for the market and stadium value. The American Airlines Center lease ends in 2031. This timeline is headed for Las Vegas Mavericks, and LeBron will own a part of that franchise once he's retired. In the meantime, he has a chance to tie (surpass?) Michael Jordan's ring count. This is a dirty manipulative league. Don't fall for the basketball reasons spins the NBA media are currently doing. Dallas is not incompetent. They're evil. They're going to screw over the fans for money. This is Major League amplified to 2000.
No one really expected this to happen, like if you tell me you're from the future and they gave Luka for AD I'd call you an idiot 😭 this trade happening before Jimmy Butler is insane
Some ppl did. And these ppl should have their bank accounts/assets under a microscope for the next three years. Dallas run by a gambling ring family now. They're up to something shady because they CLEARLY don't care about Dallas itself, Luka, or the fans.
Would’ve kept max christie. Turning into the perfect team player. Defense, fundamentally sound. Underrated athlete. Shooting heading upwards. And happy to listen and be coached. Perfect.
The Mavs were built on the legacy of a superstar staying loyal to his team. This trade says your loyalty doesn't matter, and Luka literally closed on a house a week ago and opened a non-profit facility. He loves it in Dallas.
It’s definitely one of those. I don’t watch the nba, almost at all, and I was absolutely shocked. Haven’t even watched a minute this year, usually just a couple of playoff games
The most stupid trade in the history of sports. They gave away a 25 year old top 5 player that just got their team to the fucking FINALS for an old injury prone top 20 player and ONE first round pick. They were even more stupid than the 2 teams that didn't draft Luka.
people forgetting the past. AD is one ankle roll from being out 2-4 weeks. let alone a 33-34 ADs injuries/record bro might be a load management guy. On the floor a dog but people forget how often he gets hurt off little shit
Mavs need two chips for them to have won this trade. Lakers just need one. Because up until this trade most of us were questioning how the Lakers could be successful post-LeBron.
I'm a lifelong Mavs fan and this deal still doesn't make any sense and the more reporting I see about how the details were hammered out, I'm fully convinced Nico sabotaged the team. If Luka's conditioning was such a huge problem, you work in physical fitness requirements into his supermax deal (though I personally call BS on all that noise). In 7 years, he got them into the playoffs 4 times and in the last 3 years, made 2 Western Conference Finals appearances and a Finals appearance. This was his first season with any kind of major injury and the team was still well in the mix to make the play-in allowing him and possibly Dereck Lively to make a return and try to make another run. I'm sick how this whole thing went down.
Everyone gave him praises after trading for Washington and Gafford at last years deadline. Yet they leave out the fact that those trades only happened after he offered 2 first round picks for Kyle Kuzma and Kyle Kuzma said he didn’t want to leave 😂
As a Lakers fan, I am sick to my stomach. Every other franchise player we’ve gotten throughout history was either a free agent, traded on their own terms here, or drafted (I know Kobe was traded at the draft but for simplicity let’s count it) Luka has never requested a trade, and poured his heart into the Mavericks organization, and what did that get him? He was thrown away on a random night like a nuisance. He’s not coming to LA, it’s more like he’s been forcefully torn from his home, and has been shipped here against his will. He just bought a home in Texas for $15M! If that doesn’t tell you where he saw his future, I don’t know what will I don’t want to hear anyone talk about “loyalty” in the NBA ever again
Never forget that the guy who traded Luka Doncic was the same guy who wasn't smart enough to use spellcheck in the 2010s when he was trying to sign Steph Curry to Nike and put on a Kevin Durant presentation. Hindsight is 20/20, but the Mavs GM is clearly not a good evaluator of talent. You traded a supposedly injury prone 25 year old MVP candidate for an ACTUALLY CONFIRMED injury prone 31 year old who's not an MVP candidate. Baba Booey.
“You are not the Lakers! You get a player like Luka and you lock that man in and throw away the key! What are we doing?!” Where the hell was Jimmy in these trade talks?!?! They should be drug tested. 8:26
@@alejandrotopo They may want to move to Vegas, but you don't get rid of someone who sells tickets to do so if you are going to a new arena. It is a bad trade no matter where they play ball.
If you were to ask me a few days ago to rank the LEAST likely players to get traded in the NBA, my list would have looked like this: 10 Mitchell 9 Paulo 8 Brunson 7 Ant 6 Giannis 5 Tatum 4 Jokic 3 Shai 2 Wemby 1 Luka. Face of the franchise. Most loved player to their current franchise in the entire league. Mavs attendance no1 in the league becuase of Luka. Arguably the funnest player to watch in the entire league. Mavs JUST went to the finals so things were looking up. Most untouchable player in the entire league.
@@Th1sIsMyLegacy I can see SGA 3rd because of the effect he has on the thunder team (and he is healthy etc) but anyway being in this top 10 SHOULD already be the ultimate shield but apparently not when your GM is hating your franchise and fans and sport and city and players
Jimmy and First Things First both posted a video on the Luka trade around the same time today, but Jimmy has 4 times the amount of views already. That’s proof this man deserves his flowers!
Go ahead and mark this video down and come back to this comment when playoffs roll around. If the Mavs make it in somehow, they're getting knocked out by the first round. That front office just lost the locker room, did you see Nico and J Kidd answer questions? J Kidd looked completely out of it. You think Kyrie and Klay coming there to play with Luka are going to want to play now when their front office just did this? This is more than just the players on the court, this is going to ruin the Mavericks mentally. And as a former Mavs fan, I hope it does. I hope Kyrie refuses to play and goes somewhere else next year.
If the mavs manage a chip, plenty of people will be saying exactly that. You never know whats possible, a healthy AD is a force to be reckoned with, and he fits well into the mavs system
Exactly. You make his ass work, plain and simple. Hell, you shop his ass around the league and take everything they own and their momma, not trade him for a pizza and a ticket to the fair.
So you're telling me Adam Silver had nothing to do with the Trade. Nothing to do with getting more ratings. Since ratings have been down. Think about it, all of us are talking about this trade right now and I Guarantee you all of us gonna be watching the NBA now, especially the Lakers After this trade.
The problem is. Less people are also gonna watch Dallas now. Hell Dallas just pissed off the majority of their fanbase. The amount of people who want refunds for season Tickets. Canceling Mavs Memberships. Changing Fandoms etc. boosting LA would help the rating but this also hurts Dallas. NFL Season ending will have a bigger impact on the overall ratings than this. Especially since the Lakers by themselves wouldn’t be able to fix the ratings.
I’m a lifelong Lakers fan, but I think you failed to go deeper with the analysis. Mavs weren’t being cheap, they were choosing to not put the keys of the franchise for the next 5 years in a guy that behind the scenes hasn’t convinced them. Look back to what Brian Windhorst said after game 3 of the finals last year. That wasn’t a one off accident. Look at the Pelicans with Zion. They paid him a ton of money and are basically handcuffed to a guy who can’t lose weight and isn’t available when needed. I agree trading him is crazy and I think the Mavs made a mistake but this video is very reactionary and lacks analysis while ridiculing the Mavs front office without looking at their point of view more intently
I knew when you dropped this video you were going to be sounding flabbergasted but this is amazing. Can't believe the Mavs got Cuban out the way and started doing immediate bullshit.
5:49 Thank you Jimmy for saying some of the stuff u said here. The people defending this trade or being like Luka will never win bcuz he's bad at D are crazy just bcuz they dont like him. This is just something u dont do, and if u do, u better hope ur getting a crazy return. Dude is a walking 30/10 for the past 6 years even tho he's "not in shape". Ffs he got the Mavs to the playoffs all on one leg essentially. Steph is average at best on D and he's won 4.
Billy, this is Luka Doncic. He is a top 5 player in the NBA and can be an all time great. His defect is that he gets a little chunky sometimes. This guy should cost us our entire roster and 10 firsts, but we can get him for just Anthony Davis
This is an outrage. This is the worst trade in NBA history. Hands down. I am in shock. I am literally about to sue the Mavericks for emotional damages. I CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE.
As Mavs fan for 2 decades.... I'm BEYOND SHOCKED! Not just they traded a young generational talent who led the team to the Finals last season..... they traded him for an aging AD, Christie, and just ONE 1st round pick! SERIOUSLY!???? I AM MAD!!!... Nico Harrison got FLEECED by Rob Pelinka.
Nah, Nico is in on it. He knew what he was doing and it was deliberate. He should be investigated because everything looks and feels so fishy. Even at his press conference, you can tell he was lying about the reason he traded Luka.
People keep on making assertions about endorsements. There is no way the endorsements will cover that 100m+ shortfall he was probably looking forward to. LeBron James: $80 million Stephen Curry: $55 million Kevin Durant: $48 million Giannis Antetokounmpo: $45 million James Harden: $30 million From endorsements.
@shepardice3775 still. His making 15m from endorsements as is. His Nike deal whichvis most likely his most lucrative will, can't be negotiated till 2029. As is right now he makes about 11mil from Nike I believe. That jump won't happen till way down the line for him to truly capitalise on his new found marketability. It will be years till he makes steph and lebron levels of money
You know this trade is wild when it got Jxmy to make another video within like 2 weeks of the last one (which is not a complaint, I know quality takes time)
The Mavs might’ve traded Luka to build a casino. The new owners, the Adelson Family, also own the Venetian and the Sphere in Vegas and the Marina Bay Sands in Singapore. They’ve been lobbying Texas for YEARS to change laws allowing gambling, but haven’t gained traction. They donate more money to Texas politicians than anyone. The next TX legislature vote is in 2027. If the team’s fan support has completely dried up, with nobody filling the seats of the aging American Airlines Arena, they can leverage this as justification to move the team to Vegas and the NBA wont block it, especially with vegas being such a hot new sports market and Adam Silver already talking about expanding there by the end of the decade. Its like what the Oakland A’s did. They need the team to be hopeless by 2027 and the fanbase to be gone so they can say “Let us open our casino-resort centered on the new arena in Dallas, or we move to Vegas”.
That would be true but Nico Harrison said when he proposed the trade to the owner he got laughed at which is even more ridiculous that he still went through with it.
as a laker fan i absolutely know this was set up. dont get me wrong, im happy af. that said....watch luka lose weight in the next month or so and get back in prime shape. yall forgot about harden huh. also i really have a gut feeling mavs are gonna relocate to vegas
I’m so suspicious about this man it truly feels like the league was like alright time to make Boston v LA a thing again and pulled this nonsense. Nothing makes sense, nothing adds up it’s just indescribable why this would happen. I’m not buying anything they’re selling me right now, Adam Silver needs to do or say something and do so yesterday cuz this is insane man. If this is really the leagues doing the league is officially dead like dead dead
David Stern flat out said out loud in 2004, that his preferred and ideal playoff series would be Lakers vs Lakers. Just look at the 2002 WCF for fuck’s sake. Unfortunately the NBA needs the Lakers to stay relevant, there hasn’t been an entire decade of the franchise since the 1970’s with Kareem, that the Lakers didn’t have a top 3 player on their roster. And of those players only Magic and Jerry West have been drafted there. This is NBA basketball buddy, we are just the fools that believe their product, corruption doesn’t even begin to describe what transpired in this trade.
This theory is most convincing to me: The attempt to legalize gambling in TX and the resulting casino empire Miriam Adelson planned on building in Dallas isn’t looking like it’s going to pass, so Nico, in collusion with Adelson, have pulled a stunt they hoped would destroy the Mavericks fanbase in Dallas so they can justify moving the team to Vegas, Nico’s hometown and ideal destination. And by the looks of it, the fanbase exile is in full effect, so if that was the plan, steps 1 and 2 fell into place. Might be a stretch, but if it turns out to be the real story, that is the most callous, avaricious and scummy plot in sports history. The unmitigated greed and corruption behind such a conspiracy would be truly sickening.

Baba Booey.
Even worse. Re-sign. He is already in your team. He left because of you. Top-flop
trade was so unbelievable that the De’Aaron Fox trade never talked a bit
About
De'Aaron who?
i'm not a Spurs fan. But they will rule the NBA with Wemby.
Maybe Lakers try to get Wemby as well!?! 🤣🙈
2:56 "In the sHaDoWss~" these mfs knew what they were doing was wrong
“When has being cheap ever won a. Championship” 04 Detroit Pistons would like a word.

"Not even the Lakers GM Lebron James" hahahahaaaha
“You are not the Lakers! You get a player like Luka and you lock that man in and throw away the key! What are we doing?!” Where the hell was Jimmy in these trade talks?!?! They should be drug tested. 8:26
this trade so crazy it has youtube recommending channels I haven't watched in years
You missin out if you havent watched jxmy in years
@@awerawer0708real
No one talks about locker morale. How can anyone in Dallas be comfortable and play at their highest level after this?
The Mavs GM should be banned from the state of Texas
They are moving to Vegas
@@alejandrotopo They may want to move to Vegas, but you don't get rid of someone who sells tickets to do so if you are going to a new arena. It is a bad trade no matter where they play ball.
If you were to ask me a few days ago to rank the LEAST likely players to get traded in the NBA, my list would have looked like this:
10 Mitchell
9 Paulo
8 Brunson
7 Ant
6 Giannis
5 Tatum
4 Jokic
3 Shai
2 Wemby
1 Luka. Face of the franchise. Most loved player to their current franchise in the entire league. Mavs attendance no1 in the league becuase of Luka. Arguably the funnest player to watch in the entire league. Mavs JUST went to the finals so things were looking up. Most untouchable player in the entire league.
Luka at 1 is silly, you have to admit. Wemby certainly holds more value due to his contract and age and two way abilities.
@@eliyarrows2456yeah, I would have done 1. Wemby 2. Jokic 3. Luka
@@Th1sIsMyLegacy I can see SGA 3rd because of the effect he has on the thunder team (and he is healthy etc) but anyway being in this top 10 SHOULD already be the ultimate shield but apparently not when your GM is hating your franchise and fans and sport and city and players
i'll give you a sandwich and an expired coupon for Wemby, Nico would do it
today Jokic 1 by far.
the next years Wemby will be the number one.
DuoLingo tagged the Mavs on Twitter/X: "Let's Review Your Mistakes!" 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Jimmy and First Things First both posted a video on the Luka trade around the same time today, but Jimmy has 4 times the amount of views already.
That’s proof this man deserves his flowers!
This trade would've never happened if mark cuban was still majority stakeholder
they hit the second tower ass trade
😂😂😂
💀💀💀
I never thought avout the fact that it will be the first time Lebron isn't the best player on his team, that is wild
Ad arguably was already better
@@NamilPeaksProductionsYeah but arguably. Luka is definitively better.
@@NamilPeaksProductionshe’s definitely better than lebron but jimmy probably meant in his own role
AD was Lakers best player, Lebron is 40 years old ffs.
There should be an investigation
When you see the Mavs going deep in the playoffs.......oh boy
Can't wait to hear y'all singing to a different tune.
I can't imagine a future where we would look back and say "Yup, the Mavericks did the right thing with this trade"
Absolutely insane
you never know.
If the mavs manage a chip, plenty of people will be saying exactly that. You never know whats possible, a healthy AD is a force to be reckoned with, and he fits well into the mavs system
@@playnatethegreat We know.
Don't sleep on the mavs anything can happen
Jxmy hasn't slept since Saturday night to get this video out, respect 🐐🐐🐐
hey boomer, nice edgy content, me likey
Trading a 25 year old Luka Doncic is crazy. No matter how unfit he is, he’s still top 5 in the league and only 25
They're justifying it with him being out of shape. He cooking nba folks while drinking beer after lol
Exactly. You make his ass work, plain and simple. Hell, you shop his ass around the league and take everything they own and their momma, not trade him for a pizza and a ticket to the fair.
top 2 or top 3...
A trade so crazy jimmy uploaded quickly
“Zion didn’t deserve that stray”
Yeah but how could you miss him. Have you seen the size of him??
@@whoopiebob8782Maybe the money they were supposed to pay luka will offset the loss for now? Idk 😂
Ridiculous. My heart goes out to the Dallas fans who genuinely don’t deserve it. The ownership needs to be yeeted.
Nah back to back vids this quick is crazy
Bro quit the gambling ads. It’s annoying asf 1:41
That shi still goes for another 30 sec 😭😭😭😭😭
Thank you!
They pay way too well and youtube money isn't consistent anymore.
Just skip them. Let him make his money 😂 most people skip the ads anyways
Hey gotta pay the bills
My team always in the mix. Utah there for MJs last shot, Kobe’s incredible last game, and this 😅
5:49 Thank you Jimmy for saying some of the stuff u said here.
Luka will play the greatest revenge games of all time against the Mavs from now on lol
3-4 times a year too. Same f-ing conference 😂
Max Christie is crazy underrated too. He's gonna be a high level 3-D starter for years
Billy, this is Luka Doncic. He is a top 5 player in the NBA and can be an all time great. His defect is that he gets a little chunky sometimes. This guy should cost us our entire roster and 10 firsts, but we can get him for just Anthony Davis
This is somehow even worse than Griner for the merchant of death
11:25 "all in all, it seems like the mavericks won this trade" uh, does it jimmy? i dont see a universe in which they won this trade, in any context.
I thought it was April fools when I first saw it
Thank you: we were waiting for this to drop! So good and thorough!
I don't care about the NBA in the slightest... but this story goes beyond the league
This is the tribute that Luka deserves … someone who understands the magnitude of what just unfolded … and was lost 😢
WWE is more honest and open then the NBA
I am calling blackmail, someone must have had dirt that was bad enough to push this trade
Word is Luka criticized Israeli settlements, and the Adelsons are majority owners..
ANOTHER DAY, ANOTHER JXMYHIGHROLLER BANGER VIDEO MADE!!! 🗣️🔥
Lakers got their Bird & Magic rolled into one Slovenian package
I’ve never heard Jmxy use so much emotion in a video ever 😂
This is an outrage. This is the worst trade in NBA history. Hands down. I am in shock. I am literally about to sue the Mavericks for emotional damages. I CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE.
The Mavs will not have better player in my lifetime. Pray for me now I am in so much pain
You couldn't put it better than this. Big congrats Jxmy!
there’s 7168 languages itw and jxmy decided to speak straight facts for 12 mins
“A 31 year old Anthony Davis, and a thank you note” 💀💀
This is the biggest sports moment i witnessed in my life and i‘m still shocked
okay lets not get crazy
Lewis Hamilton to Ferrari was the biggest shock for me.
Messi won the world cup couple years ago

You and the Synthetic Sports guys are the only RUclipsrs I know who are blazers fans lol
9:55 LeBrons usage by play type look like the state of Ohio
Seen this comment right at that moment 😂
People keep on making assertions about endorsements. There is no way the endorsements will cover that 100m+ shortfall he was probably looking forward to. LeBron James: $80 million
Stephen Curry: $55 million
Kevin Durant: $48 million
Giannis Antetokounmpo: $45 million
James Harden: $30 million
From endorsements.
Not to mention California taxes compared to Texas lmao
That's yearly. Luka lost $120M over 5 years.
There are plenty of other factors at play but overall it's probably only a slight net loss for him
@shepardice3775 still.
0:05 De’Aaron fox surprise like he wasn’t next 😂😂😂
@@danielwang9962 Lol of course Nico is saying that cause he has to. He's just a pawn in a bigger game.
as a laker fan i absolutely know this was set up. dont get me wrong, im happy af. that said....watch luka lose weight in the next month or so and get back in prime shape. yall forgot about harden huh.
also i really have a gut feeling mavs are gonna relocate to vegas
February 25th is going to be spicy asf. Luka will 100% send a message.
When I saw the thumbnail I damn near fell over due to how the stupidity but then I remembered...... Jxmy doesn't clickbait.
lmao trade so crazy it put Jxmmy back on my home page
7:02 As a WHAT fan? 😂😂😂😂
Bro i said the same shit 😂😂
you are clearly very new here
I thought the boys were pranking me
I know right? I saw a picture of Luka in a Lakers jersey and thought it was some AI generated nonsense.
I somehow thought it was the 1st of april. Had to double check the date.
Historic trade that will haunt the Mavs for years to come. Absolutely wild shit
This theory is most convincing to me:
The attempt to legalize gambling in TX and the resulting casino empire Miriam Adelson planned on building in Dallas isn’t looking like it’s going to pass, so Nico, in collusion with Adelson, have pulled a stunt they hoped would destroy the Mavericks fanbase in Dallas so they can justify moving the team to Vegas, Nico’s hometown and ideal destination.
I keep waiting to hear more details to make this trade make sense. What are we missing?
