I’ve been super curious about the Jordan 4 as they are some of my favorite shoes in my collection I’ve always loved the design and all the different color ways
One of the most important features of a basketball shoe is how it performs With lateral movement. How the sole grips on hard side to side stops and if the foot is able to push through the front or side. It would be interesting to see how these retro shows hold up to those forces
Had the original Black Cement as a kid, not even knowing what I had. Bought the 2019 pair, still have it, keep it clean in its box and I do wear it every now and then. Definitely one of my favorite looking sneakers and one that I enjoy a lot wearing. But they are what they are. I think "Toy Sneakers" is a great term, because that's what they are for a sneaker collector. They are just toys that you enjoy looking at and wearing. As for the shoe itself, the materials suck. Specially the Black Cements which are the "fuzzy" fake leather. The sole is hard as hell too. Good thing is that the material doesn't crease like the smooth leather, and even if it does, it doesn't look bad.
I'd love to see you review the Lidl sneakers (Yes, the grocery store). They retailed for something like 16 bucks and the resale is crazy. I'd be curious to hear your thoughts on how a cheap af shoe like the Lidl shoe compares to Nike etc.
@@mreyes2575nahh not really. I bought them when they dropped on the website and i like wearing it cuz of looks (got the yellow pair) but the materials feel super weird and cheap. They dont crease that much but just because you‘re so locked in inside them and it takes super long to break them in
Regarding the foam used for the insole, open cell foam is generally considered superior as it breathes better. Ortholite is the most commonly used foam brand and most of their products are open cell. In addition, Poron, one of the the most durable and best shocking absorbing (and expensive) foams, is also open cell .
open cell is crap and you would know if you owned the originals or even the 1999 bred retro. They bottom out much sooner and just arent as comfotarble out of the box.
@@airtec87 The open cell foam that Nike uses in that sneaker may be crap but that does not mean all open cell foams are crap. Poron is an open cell foam and is generally considered the most durable foam you can find in footwear and I've seen claims from people that it holds up for decades (one guy on Reddit said that he had boots that were 30 years old and still good) I've owned good quality hiking boots and Nike running shoes which use Ortholite brand foam and they've been very good. So much so that I still have the insoles long after the shoes are gone (I will use old insoles to adjust fit in my boot collection).
I wonder if kids that grew up wearing these premium shoes grew up having more, less or the same foot issues as those that didn’t? I know people that wore Vans and Chucks a lot started having foot pain as they got older.
Would be cool to see a club c 85 pair cut in half (can’t find literally any on the internet). Specifically the vintage pairs have some of the softest leather I have ever seen on shoes. Would love to see an in depth analysis on the overall quality and durability of the leather though.
Me too. There is some concern that Nike didn’t put the forefoot Air unit in them because they lauded the forefoot flexibility of the SB4 in their product literature. They probably did put them in, but you never know. They have been busted before in the past for removing tech from retro shoes.
You should compare the Regular Jordan 4 retro to the New Remade Jordan 4 SB, OR since you already cut the newer released Jordan 4 Retro, find a older model from 2012 and see the changes in the model over the years
It's interesting that the Jordan 4 is manufactured in Vietnam. I bought a fake pair in Vietnam and honestly the quality feels better than my genuine 1s at home. I think that there is more leather in the upper and they just feel a lot more sturdy. They also didn't crease instantly which is nice.
As a older dude who skated a lot of the air flight 89’ and played a lot of basketball in them I can tell you their durability and performance in both has no others to compare it two. I was shocked Nike made a jordan 4 SB and was having pro skaters skate them because I thought I was the only one who appreciated them for skating but not surprisingly is that many who try to skate them now and do like how they perform. Plus they have top notch durability(for skating and basketball). Not to mention they look way better then modern basketball shoes especially with jeans yet I could walk or hike in these and be totally fine too. I’m super glad I found some cheap Chinese sites I got knock off SB color ways for 40 bucks including shipping and they have real gray suede toes. Nike is going to bury themselves overcharging w limited releases.
I love my Jordan Chicago colorways. I went to the same high school as the guy who created the Bulls and he gave the Bulls are hs' colors to honor it. I dont mind paying the extra money for those colorways because the sentimental value behind it.
I did a survey on Facebook in a very large sneaker group asking what age everyone was. Largest groups were 30s and 40s.. So, it’s an old head game.I’m 50. When I think of vintage Jordans, I immediately picture bred 1s and fire red 4s. So for me, worth every penny to buy a shoe from my youth, and luckily for me and people like me, at our age, we make the kind of money it takes not to care about the price so much. I remember thinking those 4s were so modern looking, when they first came out.
I love your videos especially the Jordan ones. But it's sooooo painful watching the cutting in half. 🤣 🤣 I have the bred 4s. They look nice but they are definitely one of the most uncomfortable Jordan retros until they are broken in.
I've been waiting for this video! I love how the 4's look but I cannot wear them for very long because of the flex zones pinching on the top of my toes. Also, because they're like bricks on feet.
Was looking to get a pair of the Nike Air Max 1 '86 Big Bubble they sure look the part but after see them in a shop myself the price and the quality has put me off the laces and lining of the shoe seems really cheap the mesh material that forms the toebox and ankle looks low quality too what is happening these days they days Nike seem to be ripping people off of the hard earned money
jordan 4 is one of my favorite shoes of all time. but i knew its so not worth it, the "leather" wrinkles like crumpled paper with just a couple wears, my feet hurts from walking in them for too long, and they're dumb heavy too. but i still love it because of the history and aesthetic.
Please do the Nike SB Jordan 4. The original Jordan 4 (like the fire red here) are universally known as the pinky toe killers. I'm really curious how Nike SB made the shape better for the SB collab. Also Nike apparently updated that shape to all Jordan 4s for this year
Best looking Jordan tied with 1, but pinky toe crusher, not bad on get all day if insoles are swapped and long socks are worn to prevent back pull tab from scraping Achilles, thanks for showing us what's under our feet all day, you are the only one in RUclips that does this, on par with bedosleather, thanks you, truly!
The Air Jordan 4 White Cement is my favorite shoe of all time. Unfortunately the quality of the the whole shoe has sunk constantly over the years. This is a genuine proof. Thanks for that Wheaton. I never expected Nike to smaller the Air Units. This is dishonorable. The long year faithful customers deserve better than this. Mister Jordan himself has to intervene as soon as possible. Wheaton, why don’t you cut the stitching of the soles any more?
The case with most basketball sneakers from before the mid 2000s is they’re just “fancy”lifestyle shoes by modern standards. Sneaker tech has come a long way and pretty much any pro nba player is choosing those super athletic looking sneakers because well they’re actually athletic. Still it’s nice to see how these shoes are constructed and hold up.
I've ALWAYS thought the Air Jordan 4s look like " Toys " !!! Particularly, the Bred's !!! Never owned a pair and I shouldn't say never will but, not on my radar currently. Everytime I consider it, I go for a 1, 3, 5, or 6 instead !!! P.S. - For my collection's sake, I will eventually grab a pair !!! Hopefully the UNCs ....
Hi, you should absolutely make a video where you compare the air force 1 and the Court vision low, they are quite similar from the outside, but what about the inside?
I will never hate this model or colourway. I was on to 4s a long time before the hype really kicked off. Not the most comfortable but super high dope value 😅
Got into Jordans during lock down because of "the last dance." These are totally the coolest Jordans in my opinion and these were the first pair I bought. Can't believe he's called them toy shoes 😢😂. I do believe they're actual "tanks" when it comes to durability though and I didn't buy them for function. 🎉
They are toys compared to the originals, the wings for example weren't made of rubber, but much more a sturdier TPU. The originals also had a bigger forefoot air bubble and thicker PU insoles.
Since I first learned about the Jordan 4 (thanks to the wild resale price of Eminems) I have always loved the look. But I have insurance to pay for first
Thats awesome your doing a breakdown of the "tech/performance" function of these, but I gotta tell ya at least for me, the tech or performance these shoes have within them have never been a reason I've ever bought a pair of Jordan's.
Maybe not a lot of performance but plenty comfy. I had a pair that I used daily for a while. My mom took me to the mall once and told me to get anything I want as long as I threw away my keds-like sneakers, and I went for the spizikes and wore 'em all the time.
i had these a while ago and after a while i noticed the shoe does not give you the flex of the foot because the sole is really solid. eventually the leather creased a lot at front sides and near end of life the sole started to crack at same sort of front area where i bend my toes.
I had a pair of these way back in Middle School and they got pretty beat up since I didn't really comprehend just how much people love these things. But the weird thing is that my coach dissed them at one point as looking like crap 😂 Like what kind of adult- a teacher no less, fires shots at a kid for having dirty shoes
hey Rose, BUT you got one of the rare colorways that don't go with all leather upper. the homework here hasn't been completeled)) personal experience - while being quite a heavy shoe they don't give tired feeling my feet after having long walks. also they're great on not having any stench after you wear them at least several months. p.s. another amazing episode
Awesome teardown video as usual, thank you for doing this one. Also maybe in the future you can do a comparison with the SB Jordan 4, these recently came out and there is a curiosity in the sneaker community if the skate version have a forefoot air unit. Also the materials used on the SB model are vastly different, or appear to be than the regular Jordan 4 retro like the fire reds.
Sorry for another comment but I want to suggest a shoe / boot you should cut in half. @@mreyes2575nahh not really. I bought them when they dropped on the website and i like wearing it cuz of looks (got the yellow pair) but the materials feel super weird and cheap. They dont crease that much but just because you‘re so locked in inside them and it takes super long to break them in
This channel makes all the right videos. I love it!
Poron is an open cell foam and is generally considered the most durable foam you can find in footwear and I've seen claims from people that it holds up for decades (one guy on Reddit said that he had boots that were 30 years old and still good)
I've owned good quality hiking boots and Nike running shoes which use Ortholite brand foam and they've been very good.
I really love what you are doing to the overhyped boots and sneakers judging their style, price, and value.❤!✌!👌! I am subscribing now.
I was always iffy on the Jordan 4. It always had to much going on for my taste. The 1 and 3 are my faves.
Would be cool to see a club c 85 pair cut in half (can’t find literally any on the internet). Specifically the vintage pairs have some of the softest leather I have ever seen on shoes. Would love to see an in depth analysis on the overall quality and durability of the leather though.
THESE VIDEOS KEEP GETTING BETTER AND BETTER
could you do the sb version of this show down the line? curious to see the difference woul be. great vid tho!
Would love to see the Jordan 4 SB from 2023 cut apart!
How much they cost in Vietnam ?
Thank you so much for posting this video after many times asking
Amazing video bro. I love how structured and detailed you get. Much respect!
Finallyyyyy I’ve been waiting for this episode, can’t wait to watch it
I love my Jordan Chicago colorways. I went to the same high school as the guy who created the Bulls and he gave the Bulls are hs' colors to honor it. I dont mind paying the extra money for those colorways because the sentimental value behind it.
I cannot wait until you get to the 5. My personal favorite and i want to see you break it down to see if i just bought the hype all these years, lol
I love it when you guys look at the Jordan retro models
I love your videos especially the Jordan ones. But it's sooooo painful watching the cutting in half. 🤣 🤣 I have the bred 4s. They look nice but they are definitely one of the most uncomfortable Jordan retros until they are broken in.
Project Rock 6 shoes should be next !!
$160+ for what’s sold as the Rock battle test ultimate engineering performance shoes, but is it ??
I've been waiting for this video!
I love how the 4's look but I cannot wear them for very long because of the flex zones pinching on the top of my toes. Also, because they're like bricks on feet.
The SB4s sorted out that pinch factor although the brick factor remains 😄
you need to halfsize up for the comfort
@@tungnguyen-oh3fs I've tried half-size up and full-size up lmao
REVIEW THE VRL AIR JORDAN 1 PAIR THAT TONS OF PEOPLE REQUESTED WHEN YOU MENTIONED LOOKING AT JORDAN REPS
Meh, to me, all the early Jordans are for fashion. The only Jordans I play with are the later Jordans.
I luv the editing on this video
My first Jordan I purchased for myself was the 4, The Pure Money pair from 2017 love this shoe.
that shoe is super clean. I love it.
how have they been lasting? i got myself some retro 4s Red cements and bought my sister retro 4s metallic gold.
Common Rose nobody wears Jordans for performance. Fans wear them for casual wear and to flex what they have.
I've been waiting for this video
Next you should do 4s vs SB 4s
FIRST articulated air unit in the forefoot! but its small for sure
They are old retro shoes would be more interesting to compare them to what was available at the time.
Bold for calling Jordan sneakers “toys”. You’re not wrong.
jordan 4 is one of my favorite shoes of all time. but i knew its so not worth it, the "leather" wrinkles like crumpled paper with just a couple wears, my feet hurts from walking in them for too long, and they're dumb heavy too. but i still love it because of the history and aesthetic.
Love the jordan reviews, love to see more or other Nike models
Please do the Nike SB Jordan 4. The original Jordan 4 (like the fire red here) are universally known as the pinky toe killers. I'm really curious how Nike SB made the shape better for the SB collab. Also Nike apparently updated that shape to all Jordan 4s for this year
You're AWESOME to share all this info! Thank you, great job ❤👍👍
Killer vid cut down mate!
Jordan 4 sb next!
Jordan 4 is my favorite of the 1-13 lineup. Next is the 11 for style. After that it's the 7 for comfort.
I've seen a lot of shoes cut in half on this page, but this one hurt me in the chest. 😢
Been waiting for this video
The case with most basketball sneakers from before the mid 2000s is they’re just “fancy”lifestyle shoes by modern standards.
Sneaker tech has come a long way and pretty much any pro nba player is choosing those super athletic looking sneakers because well they’re actually athletic.
Still it’s nice to see how these shoes are constructed and hold up.
Thought I was subscribed but you were just in my recommended. Now subscribed
Hopefully the UNCs ....
fantastic video dude❤
I love these videos bruva
THE ONE WE'VE BEEN WAITING FOR!!!
AJ1, AJ5 and AJ4 are my favorite Air Jordans. Period. All great shoes for Skateboarding too.
Love your videos, very informative yet entertaining.
please make a video about puma suedes
Can you do the new Jordan 4 SB Pine Green to see how it compares to a normal pair of 4’s? Love the content!
Hi, you should absolutely make a video where you compare the air force 1 and the Court vision low, they are quite similar from the outside, but what about the inside?
I will never hate this model or colourway. I was on to 4s a long time before the hype really kicked off. Not the most comfortable but super high dope value 😅
People who buy retros are purchasing nostalgia and status. I appreciate the unbiased review
But I have insurance to pay for first
Thank you for another great vid 🍻
I don’t care if it’s made of jello; it’s a priceless sentimental item from my youth.
Key word being 'Youth' :-)
Thats awesome your doing a breakdown of the "tech/performance" function of these, but I gotta tell ya at least for me, the tech or performance these shoes have within them have never been a reason I've ever bought a pair of Jordan's.
Maybe not a lot of performance but plenty comfy. I had a pair that I used daily for a while. My mom took me to the mall once and told me to get anything I want as long as I threw away my keds-like sneakers, and I went for the spizikes and wore 'em all the time.
The spizike are the only jordan hybrid i would get lol its a comfortable shoes!
i had these a while ago and after a while i noticed the shoe does not give you the flex of the foot because the sole is really solid. eventually the leather creased a lot at front sides and near end of life the sole started to crack at same sort of front area where i bend my toes.
Awesome review. 👍
The fake/low quality leather drives me nuts especially with the price of these shoes
Do some of the pinnacle releases! Like the air jordan 5 premium. Lets see those vs normal stuff as they retailed for 400
Oooof the fire reds getting cut but I appreciate you doing this! I don’t have any 4’s in my collection but there’s a few i was looking at lol
You gotta do the SB version next
Ripping off the wing is super easy, barely an inconvenience.
When the rear pull tab dries out it cracks super easy
how come you have never reviewed brooks ??
In the movie Do the Right Thing Giancarlo Esposito's character Buggin' Out has a fit when someone steps on his white cement Jordan 4's
Awesome video. Looking forward to see cutting off a pair of adidas samba soon
I had a pair of these way back in Middle School and they got pretty beat up since I didn't really comprehend just how much people love these things.
But the weird thing is that my coach dissed them at one point as looking like crap 😂 Like what kind of adult- a teacher no less, fires shots at a kid for having dirty shoes
hey Rose, BUT you got one of the rare colorways that don't go with all leather upper.
the homework here hasn't been completeled))
personal experience - while being quite a heavy shoe they don't give tired feeling my feet after having long walks.
also they're great on not having any stench after you wear them at least several months.
p.s. another amazing episode
You know about die hard boots, correct? well any way i recently saw that Advanced Auto who owns Die hard is having a brand called Hoss boots make die hard boots. I bought a pair and have to say they are of way better quality then the sears die hard boots that you can still get from handpoint boots.
