Like everyone else, same with the rest of clothing. You're looking at a Nike T-shirt, 50€+, but then you can walk into Primark/Penneys and buy a T-shirt for 2.50€ and they have all sorts of T-shirts for that price with different GSM values, from 120g/m2 to 300g/m2, you just don't get the Nike logo or prints, which I prefer. Long gone are the days when I was a brand fanatic for the sake of brand. When it's quality or better quality I might think about spending extra, but for the same or worse things, no chance.

I bought a replica pair of Golden Geese from a Chinese seller on TaoBao for about $70 in 2018 and compared them to retail maybe a year later, when my rich niece-in-law got a pair. I am not kidding when I say that the fakes were better quality than the OG. The seller claimed that they were made with premium calfskin leather and I’m not sure if that much is true, but either way I couldn’t believe it when they were side-by-side. Even my niece thought so and wanted me to get her a pair of the fake ones 😂

Corrected grain leather is the best for white shoes. The multiple layers of pigment give extra protection against staining vs semi aniline and its single layer pigment.
Semi aniline is more breathable and has the natural grain but more prone to staining.
Corrected grain is the best fit for purpose leather if you want to ensure maximum whiteness for longer. Also corrected grain has less wastage and you can use all of the hide, so more sustainable in the less wastage aspect but also more economical on scale.

These were really popular in Korea starting in 2012.
(In Korea now, if you are still wearing these, then you look like you don't have a clue. You are stuck back a decade.)
They were like $240-80 back then.
My wife had them she wore it for awhile. Kept them in storage.
Then sold them to one of those "used luxury shops" a couple of years ago and basically got her money back.
Unless they are totally beat up and the soles all worn down and the rubber showing, selling used Golden Goose is really good for the seller, because the product looks used in the first place.

i have worn those kind of shoes for over 15 years now (my average price is 270usd for a pair). started with phillipe modell and when golden goose came out i used both brands, for me they are almost the same. The fat insole, will squish down and will make a very if not most comfortable feel after wearing them for a year or so. the biggest issue I had was the glue of the sidepart and the heel separating on various models. also the sidepart gets hard and brittle after stepping into special dirt like oil or other chemicals. to sum up, the most comfortable shoes for me with this look, but they fall apart on the sole too soon...far better quality than converse btw...

  • @ComboSlicer
    @ComboSlicer 3 месяца назад +9

Their superstars are hands down comfiest sneakers I have ever owned, have rather narrow foot. Yes they are overpriced I get it but as a sneaker itself in my opinion they are not bad by any means. Also I prefer the worn look because getting "600 buck pristine shiny white sneakers" will get scoffs and dirt really fast but on wornout look you do not care about it.
If toes were forced forward against shoe then one simply has too small size.

I am a footwear designer for a major sportswear brand, a few things I would note on these:
-the heel lining material could be an extremely premium synthetic (it might not be but synthetic leathers can be as or more expensive than traditional leathers) maybe could be cool to speak more about handfeel and abrasion resistance there vs a torch.
    - the built in heel lift to me seems to effect the silhouette pretty drastically. Some of the another shoes you showed that are better value have a pretty boxy shape vs the super low profile silhouette of the golden goose thangs. I imagine the lift is to make the shoes feel closer to an Oxford dress shoe.
-brand is everything for fashion product like this, definitely challenging to quantify that, sort of the price of artwork in my eyes.

My first pair was from the Stardan collection and I had absolutely no complaints about the built quality n leather. And then I ordered the exact same shoe you are reviewing here. This is from the Superstar collection which is supposed to be the most worn out looking collection, and I returned it back right away. The quality looked horrible compared to the first pair I owned from the other collection. Sole was terrible, the insides were literally exactly like u described… like some cheap car cloth. And the leather looked low quality. I believe with the superstar collection, they r intentionally going overboard with that worn out look. Definitely not for me.
Having said that, I love their Stardan collection. Would be nice if you could review those too. Very different. Especially the ones that aren’t designed excessively worn out. Still not worth the price but a huge difference in material quality compared to Superstar collection.

I have one pair of superstars and I've been using them for about a year and a half.
I have over 30 pairs of shoes in my wardrobe, I don't wear GGDB all the time.
    So.
The quality of execution is not even 100-dollar sneakers.
The quality of the leather is 5/10. It is very basic, and leaves marks on the back (orange-brown), don't wear light socks.
The sole is VERY hard, you can't walk in them for long.
I wear the shoes carefully, but they already look "chewed".
The maximum price for this kind of sneakers is 150 euros, no more.

I dunno - I've had mine as my main everyday shoe for 5 years now... no joke its still going strong. Common Projects last 2 years - tops. Seems like a lot of haters here who I suspect can't afford expensive shoes.

They’re for a niche audience though. I got mine seven-eight years ago after reading that grandmas swear by them, I then got the winter version, too. 10/10 for my bad posture lol
