that works against people who overextend their jab looking to do damage not so often against people who keep their distance and just pop it in there to move back or pull. I had some success with slipping the jab on the outside, keeping my right hand in front so I even pulled his jab down and while slipping I did that little cheat step with the lead leg so I could throw a left hook. its a long shot so it might not do as much damage if you're lighter weight class but Bader knocked out Fedor with it so if you can connect on the chin you can knock somebody out but it needs a lot of practice and especially sparring to know the timing. Many times I aimed for it but I was quicker than I should have been and I caught the guy's shoulder
Dont want to badmouth anything Adam has shown ,but guy be careful with leaning down or to the side, if he jabs kicks or just feint the jab into a kick then u are fcked ,GReat Video tho !!
You look at the upper chest and when the upper chest move you have to predict the punch. No one can see the punch then react. You just need to predict and react before the punch is throwing
Great video. Btw Shane, I wanted to say, your "Punching while moving footwork" video helped me iron out some things, really improved my overall game so I land full combos much more often now. I do muay thai, of course; but many boxing techniques(as long as you keep a high guard due to kicks and knees) work in it, as you know.
Came here after my boxing class and being confused as to how to counteract a jab correctly. I’ll be sure to practice these techniques next time, thank u!
Art's that I study: Jkd_Fma_Silat! There's plenty of ways to shut down a jab. FMA (Silat same thing) practitioners would rather destroy the attack, Jkd practitioners, parry and hit_ intercept_riposte_stop hit or over the bridge counter. Last 4 counters remind of the same drills that my academy uses. Number 5 is a nice counter, it's emphasis on the rear hand for knockout. In Jkd context is called a *Beat Counter*. But, there all nice drills.
I been boxing over 8 yrs now. My coach is dave lewter. I vs at diff gyms and etc and I know that counter to the body ain't gonna do crap when they just push though that. It best to counter with a 2 to the body if your gonna aim there. But the pop 1 with a 2 to the head works amazing from experience.
First, Adam is amazing for taking something simple like the jab and building upon it. Can you do a video drill that incorporates footwork and kicking at the same time?
Slipping to the inside and throwing the right is very dangerous because the right hand for you opponent is so open. I’d slip outside and throw the right pretty much every time because then you are out of range of the opponents right
It's timing. Slipping inside is safer because it's simultaneous to the jab. When you slip outside you have to come back to the left to throw your right hand. Your idea is an option but more dangerous. Ask Andre Ward how Kovalev dropped him in their first fight. Exactly how you suggest. What is taught here is applied monthly at the highest level of fighting. It's not theory.
I have a signature move tho, If they Jab Lean Forware to baith them to Jab then lean back then parry or circle parry the Jab then left straight left to the head. This works if youre a southpaw fighting orthodox. If you do this technique you will generate power and speed and it will help to bend your kness and your body and all the power will come to the left straight, it can also knockdown or knockout the opponent
Number 5 is very risky. You have to be completely sure he isn’t going to throw a 1,2 because you are slipping towards his right hand. Personally wouldn’t ever slip on the inside.
Shane can you make a video on the current situation with the Ufc lightweight division.I know it’s irrelevant but I’m pretty sure it would be interesting
Hi Shane, i really love your channel , i found it few week ago. I got a question for you im a boxer for the last 9 years almost and im trying to incorporate some kick in my training( my friend do karate and i try to spar for fun with him). I got a little experience with 2 years of kung-fu and one 1 years of karate shotokan but i dont do kick for the last 12 years, so how do you do your combo hand feet? What is the logic for the weight transfer for a fluid combination? If you have already a video for the boxer to make the transition with the kick just tell me. Thanks no matter what Shane, Vincent!
You should do Spanish subtitles, there’s a lot of people in Mexico that i recommended your channel but they don’t know English, I’m sure you would gain a lot of subscribers from Mexico and other countries that speak Spanish
Bhanu Pratap Singh Thakur uppercut and a hook combo should work ! Do it fast so they dont have time to recover from te uppercut. You need to get as close as posible
You want to learn how to box? Shane needs to be your coach! Shane is my boxing coach now. Get good at these basics and you will enjoy boxing because you'll get hurt/hit less while sparring while you connect more with your punches. I need to get back to boxing club! I have never had anyone explain boxing like Shane!
We are here to improve and add to our arsenal. If your here to learn from scratch I would advise you find a gym near you, you will improve a lot faster and have more potential then just watching yt Vids
This are important drills most boxers learn but they mostly work on Amateurs. Most times you in there with a fast boxers his will be gone before you can hit him but he will notice you are trying to counter him and will bait you with a jab as you bend to counter he will blast you with a right hook or upper cut. You also can’t be flat footed like these two. Most times you are fighting someone experienced if they throw job and your that close a right cross is coming so you better pivot to the right away so you better throw a right hand to keep them busy then pivot or get the hell out by stepping back
So many ways to answer this. First you note they may be an advanced fighter and adjust to a more conservative mode. If they then display timidness triple the speed and output and take advantage.
@@eclipseesphougus244 Use ring generalship to control the pace with your own jab, straights, and footwork. Learn how to get him to chase you and redirect him to the corner or use hooks to keep them out from your pocket and if they block the hook push against their guard to get away.
Slipping the jab on the outside and going to the dead angle is one of my favorite defenses against it. 🔥
that works against people who overextend their jab looking to do damage not so often against people who keep their distance and just pop it in there to move back or pull. @762x35mm yeah. its a weird shot but you know what they say. the best punch is not the best looking punch, its the punch that lands and does the job
Thank you Coach Adam and Shane. Very nicely done.
Dont want to badmouth anything Adam has shown ,but guy be careful with leaning down or to the side, if he jabs kicks or just feint the jab into a kick then u are fcked ,GReat Video tho !!
Yeah just shut the fuck up man
Step 1: have insane reflexes.

Well... Dangit
Just eat the jabs so that he will throw a power punch and the fight is over you can now rest in peace
@@katu9482 idk why this made me laugh😂
Can u do the same video but southpaw
Bro for us southpaws it’s actually better because instead of the jab we can land our straight left hand to the body or the head 👍🏻
Read Tao of Jeet Kun Do. Bruce Lee was a southpaw.
Shane what do u think of my fight? I'm southpaw and my opponent wasn't too sure how to deal with the awkwardness. Thanks
Mate 😂 its everything in reverse you kant translate???
Bro just bust the lomenchenko and circle to the right
I was so exited showing my dad , these moves and he still beat my ass 😞
Julian Hernandez you good fam😂

this should be the one of first boxing lesson your learn. The jab is the inception of any fight and punch most throws in a fight.

Can we add the outside slip to the lead uppercut into the list? Cuz it can be lethal if it lands correctly
I don't often approve of martial channels but you have a good one. I stay subbed.

*5 ways to shit on the NFL like they shitted on SpongeBob*
For the perry cross, block redirect the glove with your forearm. Come over the top with the baseball pitch trapping the jab underneath of the slider.
Very nice, love it.
I'm going to try it in sparring.

Hey Shane. Quick question. Should i buy headgear for my kickboxing classes? Iam thinking of wearing it during sparrings.
Aivaras Jakas headgear just stops bruises and cuts, gym shield do more to prevent getting dropped or kod
How about ways to shut down jabs to the body
Nice tips :) Boom Boom
Very well bro from India
What if he is taller and has more reach... His jab is always his go to but I have tried some of that and it doesn't always work.
Shane come to south Florida!!!
How to clinch against bigger and taller opponents?
All 3 can be countered with a jab feint left hook
thats why you keep your parry hand close to your head, to defend that counter. You should really watch the video before commenting.
