Also I'm doing a seminar in Austin, TX at the ONNIT gym in the Bang Muay Thai Academy on March 24 from 12-2pm. Shane i am a kickboxer i have been doing it for a couple of years now. Recently i have started boxing but the problem is my distance keeping is way of because in kickboxing i keep a longer distance because of kicks you know. Any tips?(great video and channel BTW i have learned a lot)
At 5'6" and a beginner in my 2nd week of training any type of combat sport, closing distance and cutting angles has totally perplexed me. Thanks for explaining the movement slow, clear and concise. Cant wait to get on the inside of the mostly taller training partners.
Can't thank you enough for this. I got MAULED on my first sparring session because I was fighting a taller guy with great reach and push kicks. I didnt get close, when I did I lost my guard and panicked. Bad fight, but many things to learn from that. So this vid will help me out.
Hey buddy, upwards & onwards. Take some time off from illuminated screens (phone, computer, tv) and rest your brain. Focus your mind and when you're feeling better after a few days, start to rebuild -- stronger and better than ever before!
ryan garcia lost his first two fights and wanted to quit at third time but jus imagine if he let a few inconveniences stop him in the beginning would he be where is he now? but seriously watch out for this mma stuf i like learning it but watchout you dont get brain damage and stuff so you have to be careful i would not fight too much bro i know people who have brain problems and there not even pro and teenagers
Hey, Shane. Huge fan of your channel. I studied and applied many of your fight tips in sparring and in my amateur MMA fights. THEY WORK! Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
Shane I remeber in one of your videos you said you would go pro in 2017, it would be sick seeing you actually try boxing again and going pro you'd be one of my favorite boxers and you have the skill to do it 👌
@@juelz713 Just keep distance with your jab and destroy him with your strong cross when they are open, if they try get in just counter them with uppercut and get out
Shane and Vince...love these fight tips. Would this strategy also work for a good counter puncher? If not could you both make a video with strategies for that type of fighter?
I had to defend myself a couple days ago in a street fight against a guy 2x my weight. I'm 125lbs and this huge guy shoved me and started a fight, I threw about 3 counter punches at him but they were an inch away because I have short reach and this guy was a gorilla, he then came at hella quick and grabbed a hold of sweatshirt and tried throwing me everywhere on concrete and trying to hit me at the same time. When that was over we exchanged a couple more punches and it was done. I got a couple scrapes from the concrete but walked away with zero marks on my face, he landed one little shot to the back of the head when he was grabbing my sweatshirt. Thank you for all the tactics Shane and Vince and these videos definitely help people stay safe, I've been watching fighttips for 2 years and I seriously could of got hurt if I didn't.
Deom this was good af had to comment and like!! Got kickboxing sparring in 1h doing 30 mins of cardio before that since im cutting. but these are some great stuffs, there is one guy there who does only boxing he is taller than me faster and better overall, this could really help me this time hahahah xD
Sparred my first taller partner (I’m 5’11, he probably was 6’2). What a wake up call that was 😂 got obliterated but found my weaknesses and also was lucky enough to get it recorded so I can go through the footage. Now I just gotta improve on that.
Hi was the first to see this new video 😁 very helpful tips. I got my first boxing match on 18 days.. I could use a lot of help so far my defence could be better.. I can make a video of me sparring maybe u could help me out.. I don't want to lose my first fight.. 😎 cheers man
This is a very helpful video bc I'm 5'6 with a 5'7 wingspan and my best friend (and only real training partner) is 5'11 with a 6'3 wingspan so reach is always a problem for me
hard to believe that vince is 29 years old, i mean, he's a bulky dude, but when you look at his face, he looks exactly like a teenager who used to work with me, XD
Number 3 and specially number 1 need very good footwork, hard to apply if u are a rookie .Number 2 though is helpful ,specially if you use it a lot and master it it can be a winning strategy
I sparred with my coach on my 3rd day. Dude wants us sparring as much as possible to build experience during fights. Coach almost knocked me out. I’m still learning how to block and close gaps tho so I’m gonna try and implement this during my training.
Very helpful i spar with my buddy alot were the same height but i cant gey in cause he'll grapple me and cant fight at range cause he keeps his arms out to stop me
Being shorter 5ft6 I have won most of my fights on the ground with good grappling and ground a pound but the fight starts standing and you usually want to be the one who opposed it to go to the ground learn distance your punching distance and safe distance Im fairly muscular so I have knockout power so keep bay keep guard tight use foot work when’s. Punch is thrown with intent it’s spotable slip the punch to get inside and feed a power punch fast and precise if it doesn’t knock down the opponent your in your range to feed more or evade or go for a takedown or best case they drop just my thoughts great tips
Can you do a video on how to not throw out arms for blocking punches how Darren Till just got KOd I'm not dissing huge fan of his just saw this I tend to do this sometimes in sparring and partner drilling thanks for the help and for your time good luck and success
I used to box so Ik this stuff is good in the ring, but as for my experience street fighting this will not work when the gloves are off there’s more field of sight of the hands and unlimited coverage of distance depending on the setting, you’re best bet is to keep a distance and wait to counter strike, never look to strike an appointment first which is funny to me they always say make sure you swing first but thats only in the heat of the moment, if it takes more than 10 seconds for a fight to prepare u are no longer in the heat of the moment, so that being said the entire point of counter striking is to strike you’re appointment while they’re center point of gravity is off NOT because you’re blocking a strike, when u hit your opponent in the mist of them attempting to hit you IF YOU LAND they will immediately be discombobulated because gravity said so….so the lesson is WAIT to get hit and WAIT to throw
