- Adam Lerner, boxing coach for UFC fighter (Terrion Ware) and Vince "The Anomaly", explains strategies on how to be a pressure fighter and make offense your best defense. Some of the tactics covered are 'cutting off the ring', 'dictating range', and how Lomachenko is able to change his 'tempo and rhythm'.

Having a really good cardio is one of the most important aspects of being a pressure fighter 🔥
UNLEASHING POTENTIAL - PSYCHOLOGY VIDEOS No I thought you would have to have explosive muscle and lift a lot of weights
PenDayHo shut up with your dumb ass. You are nothing but a dumb fuckin furry😂.
Its an important aspect in fighting
Cardio is extremely important. You may be strong but if you cant fight for a decent time, doesn’t matter how strong you are. Being fatigued isn’t the best in fights
it is important in general really

Make a video about defensive tactics in Muay Thai
This would be interesting. ANY video about Muay thai, or kickboxing; boxing in muay thai that would be an interesting video. Be interesting to compare notes, on how we all use our hands in MT.
chucknorris202 my fav thing to do rn is to establish lots of straight punches, feint, head kick. Idk why it works but it does
@@dylanweldy768 I think you're confusing me with your father
@@soullight8632 I like throwing straight punches , feinting teeps and throw a lot of body and head kicks
How do you land body shots and protect body against a way shorter aggressive boxer?
Shorter fighters will usually get the body shots, that's just part of the deal. You get to land easier on their heads though. I wouldn't suggest throwing body shots on a shorter aggressive boxer at all. Being shorter, his body is harder to reach and easily protected, and being aggressive, he would be in a better position to target your head if you do. Use jabs to keep him outside of punching range just like in the video, but if he's using a peek a boo style or just a lot of head movement he can get around them. In such cases, post on his chest with your lead hand(while he's coming close) or just feint jabs, and then throw hooks when he tries to get past your lead hand. Easier to gauge hooks that way, and if you still feel like throwing a body shot, you can do it that way too
Uppercuts and smothering work well too. Watch from 5:45 of this video ruclips.net/video/KqwN1xyoaHQ/видео.html
@@gravy1770 Good stuff man. That's a great video to study and reference for me, and I am sure, others.
Get youself a little down on your knees and use a consisten jab, that pushes your opponent back, and use the shoulder roll to protect the body, it's the best there is. Now keep in mind, he is using the body to get to your head
Practise during light sparring. It’s how I’ve learnt tricks to land some of my shots
hey shane, can you make a video on peek-a-boo boxing?
Treebeard i second this 👍
Great suggestion, sometimes you want to fight the way you feel
What is that
Jack A particular way of guarding
It’s not the best style for the majority of people. Just a heads up
I would love to see more tactics/strategy videos. Great coaching!
Though this isnt new information to me(my style, in Muay thai, is pressure based, moving into boxing range to land my hooks and also leg kicks, keeping a high tight guard at all times and extra wary inside, looking for openings, not giving any myself) but this is a good video for people nonetheless. I could have used this when I was at the 6 month to a year mark, when i was still figuring out which tactics and strategies and what style worked best for me. I've been training 2 years and 1 month(almost 2) in muay thai, now! And jiu jitsu before that, though I greatly prefer muay thai, esp the sparring(we spar every class, multiple rounds of course). You know, your channel helped get me into martial arts Shane. I thank you for that. Its a gift, truly it is. Makes you have confidence, self respect, and belief. I recommend it to everyone I can...if even one person joins cause they saw my post or talked to me in person, I consider the effort worth it. I think alotta people were in a dark place before joining a fight gym and it helps them through it.
Hey man, your heart is in a great place. You got a great attitude and it seems like fighting has done some good with you.
Wondering if you hope on competing?
Loma's lateral & circular movement and diamond step combined with constant light pressure punches is something I've been emulating recently. People either overreact or under react. As long as my cardio is up, I control the pace of the fight, especially with impatient opponents who are prone to get irritated. It takes a lot of personal discipline and patience, but it can set up some amazing offensive sequences. "Strategy without tactics is the slowest route to victory. Tactics without strategy is the noise before defeat" -- Sun Tzu
This is one of those things that's easier said that done. I hope to fight this well one day!
Dude this vid was your best one in ages.. that coach is a genius too the way he thinks and articulates.. wicked content guys 👊🏻🏆 Shoutouts for the deep boxing content

Shane I love your vids man I have been watching for like 2 years pls keep production
love to ya much thanks. My coaches called this "jamming" and said that was my natural style. I don't worry much about being hit One coach was boxing me in the yard and he was backing away trying to hit me, he did but not very hard. I backed him up a hundred fifty feet.LOLI said "my god man what life you have had, I have ran for my life fought for my life but never fought for my life while I was backing away as fast as I could," coach said "I was a step child." Now he is gone many years and I sit here and watch this video.I am adding this pressure fighting style to my arsenal.I see a guy in a street fight with nicotine stains on his fingers, I just pressure fight him don't get in range, don't jam, all low risk, while he has some wind left.then wham the worst most dreaded marshal arts move on earth. I talk the leg off.I get a good painful low damage joint lock , and it is not. "hey quite hitting your woman", nope it is " are you aware of the social ramifactions of domestique violence...."
Perfect
Thanks for these vid I really needed to learn how to put more put more pressure on my sparring partners cause I've got the reach but I don't really know how to capitalize on it fully, great video
Beterbiev is a master of the pressure style!
Is the next video going to be about how to deal with that kind of style, that pressure?
Thank you for the wisdom!
This video helped a lot thanx
Wow! Awesome! Thanks for this
Great thing for me to work on this week
What if you are a shorter fighter and want to apply pressure. You are mostly in your opponents range and they can attack you. How do you apply pressure on the inside without getting hit back?
I think finding a middle ground between the advice in the video and the advice of the guy above me, through light sparring and drilling, is your best bet.
You still touch them a lot so they cover up. If they start throwing back you need to step in and land a couple of clean shots then circle out. As a short fighter (assuming you fight somebody your weight) you will have the strength advantage so trading shots is beneficial for you.
It works for shorter fighters too you should check Manny Pacquiao vs Oscar de la Hoya
Their are way more videos for short pressure fighters
First off, thanks for watching and this is a good question. This style that I developed will work if the height discrepancy is minor since you are mostly touching gloves and arms. You're only entering range (COD) sperraticly when the opponent is out of position. The problem comes in when it's a Tyson vs Lennox Lewis situation and the height discrepancy is much greater. At that point you would replace the touches with faints in order to not close range with your head in the center. Then when you actually enter range you would do so when the opponent is already out of position or with your head off center. Thanks, Adam
This inadvertently taught me how to counter pressure fighters
“So I can keep touching him and making him feel pressure” but for real thanks this is useful I plan to practice swarming and this is something I can put in.
This reminds me in some ways of the kendo technique debana-waza, where the application of pressure provokes a premature attack from the opponent, which is then pre-empted by a ‘better’ attack. The concepts of managing measure and denying the opponent’s efforts to change lines via footwork are also the same. Thanks for the video!
Colin Cox all good martial arts have the concept of distance control well developed. Kendo sounds awesome, what’s it like?
SoulLight it walks the line between traditional martial art in the “these techniques worked back when we wore armor and tried to kill each other with swords” sense, philosophical martial art in the “respect and practice make us objectively better people in society” sense, and the sport form of “here’s how to win points in competition” sense. The different pulls make it hard to talk about objectively because everyone experiences different aspects of those three ideals. It can be quite the workout - the armor gets heavy after a while! Encounters are much more decisive than in the open-handed arts, and matches are much shorter than in MMA. Ten minutes in a kendo bout is thought of the same as a 25 minute MMA match.
exactly what i need right now
This realy works for me it realy helpt me with my boxing during training
Thanks Shane
This is what I needed, excellent

Great content as always
Great video is there a video of how to fight against a pressure fighter?
wolforrest Forrest Shane made a vid years back just search it up
That's interesting.
I never thought of myself as a pressure fighter because I've always thought of them as high cardio guys who do way more work than me but I do most of what Adam described, the difference is that I'm getting it done with power shots rather than a higher rate of shots.
Maybe I'm just weird.
That would make you a counter fighter. Small difference being that a pressure fighter is constantly making the opponent back out of his circle of death
It's easy to think your a pressure fighter. I was a southpaw swarm. I should have played angles and peek a boo but I didn't have the fight iq for it. Southpaw swarm Wasn't the best of combos for me because if I got tired and dropped my lead I was in for a bad time. But if the opponent did the pressure and angles could swing things in my favor. Sadly some physical things beyond my control and a lack of that next level motivation prevented me form attaining my true potential back in my prime. All in all I don't regret it. Doing a 5x5 weight training routine and getting in some miles on the treadmill will keep you in shape, but nothing is as fun as combat sports.
in pure boxing pressure fighters usually throw a lot of volume but it isn't necessarily a rule. particularly as you branch out and add more options like western kickboxing, dutch kickboxing, muay thai, mma.
I have a very similar style for boxing. @@Ed-tc2pgit is kind of difficult because when I think of like famous pros to look at for example, the only one that I think of with regularity that was a south paw volume puncher is Sultan Ibragimov that isn't bad in general I mean he was a good boxer but the thing is having only one example to look at is kind of a hinderance. otherwise you wind up looking at high volume orthodox guys and our lead hook just isn't the same.
The definitions in fighting are rather lax. It is a science. But it also is an art. So just do you and adjust what does and doesn’t work.
just discovered the channel of ours. i gotta say that (sorry for my grammar at that point pls dont hurt me) ur videos are very informativ and compact at the same time. most vieos ive see are 10-20 minute videos that are like exhausting to watch and most of the time boring from the start. but these videos are something else in my opinion^^ short and kept basic in terms of information and showing off, so u can concentrate on the practicing. good work keep it up man ^^
Im sparing but my team has no heavyweights and against smaller fighters I’ve learned i dont know how to create offense, only counter attack
“Bring the pressure. Come play my game I’ll test ya!” 🥊🥊🥊
"Exhale, exhale, exhale!"
I don’t get this reference and that makes me sad

I would be interested in seeing a video specific to a pressure southpaw or a volume southpaw, it could be one vid or two depending on how you look at it.

Alexander should have watched this before insulting Cowboy.
barfyman362 He actually knocked someone the fuck out with his pressure, you’d be scared of him in real life, so you might as well shut the fuck up man

@@soullight8632 it's a term used in my martial art
This is a great video but can you make a video to explain how to attack our opponent when we push him into the corner of the ring. I really like your videos btw, keep going Shane
If you get someone in the corner the first thing you want to do is keep them in there. Try planting. If they're protecting the head then work the body until they drop their hands. Also, be wary of "Hail Mary" punches.
Very informative
Good vid. Nice tactics

Excellent video as asual. I you just would like to make you a question, in a street fight which approach you will use? what if instead of a “get off me punch” he throws a combo?
Could you do a video on how best to counter this?

Stretching before training isn’t advised. Stretching after training and before bed, that is recommended.

Tony ferguson is the type of guy to go aggressive against aggressive fighter.
Great video Shane! But what if your opponent tried to step in while you were trying to pressure them
My turn to pressure people now 😂
Who knew Jon Hamm was this good a boxer
I’m like 6’2 and 170 but when I fight im like 5’8 or 5’7 and im aggressive I don’t waste energy I exhale every hit so im good at bein a pressure fighter even tho im pretty big
Great video, Shane do you personally like Lomachenko`s style and technique?
Another way to view/take on the cod (circle of depth) is a cool concept from an anime/manga (History strongest disciple Kenichi) which is called a Seikuken. (Basically an imaginary defence and offense bubble) it's quite interesting :')
I'm a pressure fighter aswell but when facing the same type of fighter especially when they're taller and have longer reach and longer kicks, I tend to lose control of the fight. Everytime I pivot to the right, they low kick my right leg or worst case scenario, they use the momentum to do a left high kick. Same goes for when I pivot to the left. I'm 160cm tall and 63kg so I mostly fight 170cm tall opponents. I rarely fight someone with my height 😔
We're still in this "I'm first" thing???.. kbye 😁😁😁
