The fox hole analogy makes sense. Most guys stay put in the phone booth and it becomes a trade off without movement. This man is a boxing genius. He’s older know, but his knowledge is ridiculous.
The basis of what was taught to Tyson. Still relevant in 2021. If you watch pro fights now. It seems most are uncomfortable fighting this way and preferences to long to mid range for most. 25+ years ago phone booth wars seemed more common. I will say this doesn't apply to many Mexican pro's who are mostly well taught infighters.
this is solid gold its criminal teddy was taken away from a platform like ESPN to showcase his knowledge he will thrive on youtube the people will speak and reward his genius
The fact that he corrected himself to include his fighter in “we” and not “I” tells you why he’ll be in the books as one of the greatest 🥊 figures period
"You don't have to go through a bad neighborhood to get in there." Best line I've ever heard about any aspect of boxing or ANY sport for that matter. Just a flat out brilliant metaphor, delivered without pretension, like Mardi Gras beads from a balcony on Royal Street. The genius of Teddy Atlas never fails to amaze me.
Out of all the trainers out there. Teddy Atlas is the only one that makes you feel like you're in a movie. So much emotion in his voice. It's really powerful stuff
Those little details are everything. Like keeping the correct shoulder angle, not trailing your defensive leg too much, choosing to weave or dip. All pro-level stuff if you can pull it off correctly under pressure and without losing your own balance. If you don't drill it over and over, forget it. It won't be there for you when you need it if you don't.
Regards from Scotland, salutation and respect, teddy atlas , a true master of the, " noble art" live long and prosper brother 🏴 happy healthy peace ✌️
Teddy is one of my idols, so much love & respect for the man. As a kid I've always listened to every single thing he shared about boxing and have learned so much. I freaking love you Ted! You the man brother!!
It’s beautiful how the fundamental principles of fighting, whether boxing, Muay Thai, Kali, Judo, etc, are remarkably durable and effective. As far as getting inside, our Kali/Silat instructor always reminds us “inside is the hardest place to get to, and the safest place to be.”
Teddy Atlas continues to blow my goddamn mind with his tactics, analogies, and great explanations. As an inside fighter who hopes to try amateur boxing next year, this is an amazing breakdown 👏🔥
"Gotta be alert" "GOTTA BE ALERT" 😂😂😂😂 Teddy's ability to go from 0-100 and then back to 0 is unmatched. As is his boxing knowledge and ability to teach it
Gotta love this guy......one hell've human being....honest to the bone...heart of gold...and a punch or punches to wake you up...or....put you to sleep. He deserves the best he desires...cheers mate....wish I could work out with you for just one year....
Genius! the foxhole analogy is great. I never understood why we just drop even after 3 years of boxing. This will help me in sparring glad I found this channel thank you! 🙏 🥊
This guy has an understanding way beyond the average man, learning a lot, trying to apply these lessons when you have someone trying to punch your face in is a different story though huh, love Teddy, gonna watch more of these 👍🏼
swear to god I never laughed louder and harder than teddy atlas metaphors and names!!! then when I see the boxer hiding his grin tryna not laugh I laugh twice as hard. what a blessed teacher these metaphors explain and help me remember so well mahalo brother =)
If any of you haven’t heard his interview with Joe Rogan, see if you can find it - such an amazing man. You’ll probably be moved to tears at some point.. I got something in my eye but it was just good timing!
i was looking for boxing tips like this years ago, and wow as i thought, teddy atlas explains everything in detail and gets u thinking about the game. thank you for the video dynamic striking. keep it up
Damn. Even though it is only a 3 minutes video, it covers a very effective way of fighting tall people. Plus the fox hole concept. I bet 90% of people that come to my gym for years don;t know these. Very good coach. Most gyms have experienced boxers as coaches. But often times, they don't know how to teach.
This is what made LENNOX LEWIS damn near unbeatable, he wouldn’t engage in anyone else’s fight, he stayed tall, long and on the outside until HE was ready and picked his spots!!!
Such a hard way to fight. But learning it is surely something possible. Watching David Tua was a great example. Tyson too but after Mike hooked up with King he quit fighting like this and thought he could walk thru anything. Too bad because he was better at it while under Atlas and the Team!
I don't know why this whole time I've been training I've known that leaving your head in the firing line is a bad idea but it took this video for me to realize the same thing for when I'm on the inside.
Teddy makes it look so easy😯 I remember having a Teacher from IIT teaching me math for my 12th class. He taught so well it made everything easy that I didn't even practice... I hardly pass the math exam🤪 Practice Practice Practice... Well demonstrated👏👏👏
You are so inspirational Teddy, great videos. It´s almout a mirricale to be able to watch you, to learn from you, and to explain to young guys what you say. We all here in our boxing club in the Czech Republik wish you the best. Stay you and your family healthy. Thank you
I like to daydream about Teddy training me when I was a little boy, and maybe I could have whooped my older brother's ass a little more. Instead I had to wait until I was in my twenties to take some lessons and finally put him in his place. Boxing is a gift for little brothers.
the left side of his body is open.if I block the jab than pull back at and angle I won't be their to get hit.can u show us a move to counter that move u show us.have u ever seen a short guy out box a till guy on the outside?thanks for the video appreciate it.
Teddy is a great boxing mind. I'm an MMA fan first and foremost, but what he did to help Ngannou improve his boxing fundamentals made a visible difference in his rematch with Stipe Miocic. He was scary before, now he's a fucking nightmare and it's partly due to Atlas teaching some basic fundamental boxing.
This is genius. A lot of people forget that getting hit in the arms hurts like hell too and you can wear em down like that!
🔥
Bloody hell he explains things so well.
🔥
The fox hole analogy makes sense. Most guys stay put in the phone booth and it becomes a trade off without movement. This man is a boxing genius. He’s older know, but his knowledge is ridiculous.
That is the essence of greatness
I was thinking the same thing - would be an awesome coach to work with!

It's also criminal that Mike Tyson grew up without Teddy Atlast to show him how to be a man.
Why was he removed?
24 karat
Well said. Does he have a channel?
🤗🤙🏻
Teddy Atlas is legendary
🤗👍🏻
he kinda talks like Christopher Walken
@@jonmcmann6811 😂

3:19 Correcting himself and making sure to include the other person proves a lot of things. All of which I like and respect.

Out of all the trainers out there. Teddy Atlas is the only one that makes you feel like you're in a movie. So much emotion in his voice. It's really powerful stuff
😉🤗
He reminds me of Jerry Lewis impersonating a gangster in the "The Family Jewels."
Uncle Bugsy.
Ever heard him describe the Joe Louis vs Max Schmelling situation? Such a great story teller

Teddy Atlas gives up a different and unique prospective about pugilism than anyone I have witnessed on the internet.
💯
Thanks coach!

Thanks guys! Would love to have a coach with this candor "you don't have to go through a bad neighbourhood" has more gravity than at face value.
