    I have been using urechem for over 6 years. My cars sit outside all year long. The paint looks as good as when I first laid it down. I also only use their high solid clear. The paint and clear has always laid down smoooooth, see no reason to try most expensive brands when I get great quality from urechem.

    Nice review! Very similar experience here with spraying the sparkling merlot pearl(videos on my channel). This was my first time spraying a whole car. And it was a DIY job in my home garage. The HS clear laid out very well! Like I mentioned, I’m a novice and I got it to spray out like oem texture. Being in a garage I had some dust nibs and also got a few sags. But that all cut and buffed out very easily with 1000-3000grit then a 20mm Da with Maguires 110/210.

    I use Urechem every now and then for some of the custom paint jobs that i do for people out of my shop. They do offer some great colors especially with their metallics and silk base pearl colors. The price is right and after a good 7 years of using it have had no complaints with the things i have painted. It is 2:1 mix which sure isn't as nice as 1:1 but the price is right regardless. I never used their clear I use certain brands of clear I prefer and i dont deviate from those products. Another brand of paint I have had excellent results with is Autobahn as well as Tamco.

    So, for a comparison, I used ProBase from NAPA, which is a Martin Senour paint. I think the parent brand is Sherwin Williams but I may be wrong. I used it to paint a 1969 Plymouth Roadrunner and the color we went with was a 2008 Hemi Orange, which is an orange/red color. We also played with it and added some gold pearl flake so it would pop in the sunlight. It took 5 coats of base until it wasn't streaky under a sun gun and I went ahead and sprayed a 6th just to be sure. If that stuff is covering in 2-3 coats with a red, that's money! Reds are the most expensive and the crappiest covering colors.

    I used their base on my Civic and another clear. The Urekem clear I did the underside of my hood and you're right it shrinks plus in the cup it's yellow I mean very noticable. My midnight blue pearl was great but you do need more of the 2:1 base for sure.

    I think the clear not being the best was important for viewers. I ordered a kit for my 1970 Pontiac Grand Prix. I also ordered Sherwinn’s “Finish 1 (FC720) ultra clearcoat. I wasn’t sure which clear to use but after your video I will seriously consider swapping the clear to “Finish 1” instead.

    You can use economy line primers and paints and reducers but do not use lower and clears put a high and clear over the top of all that for UV protection and to lock it down if you're trying to save money and put three coats not two to only if it is a high solids you need something that's going to last 10 to 15 years at least or you will be doing it again and you don't save any money at all better to spend a couple hundred to a few hundred more and last 20 years then they have to do it every 6 years

    Try their HS Glamour clear. I've sprayed every ppg/omni clear, most of the transstar products, finish master, nasson, cheaper sherwin. I prefer the CS HS clear to them all, you have to get it on way past way to thick to convince it to run and even spraying bike fairings with a cheap gun it came out glass flat in all the pockets. First time I used it I was fully expecting to have to sand it flat and buff it out but I got a finish with less ripple than I've seen on any factory new car. Only real downside is it did take a good 24h at 75-80f to air dry enough to put the bike back together and I'd want to say give it a couple weeks to a month before rag washing or showing it any abuse, it did eventually get very hard though, by far harder than any of the ppg products I've usually gone with. Its a little deceptive when spraying also, maybe a better gun would help but it looked like it was going to be a orange peel mess as it laid down but that glassed right out within a few minutes of spraying. Not to say its the best thing around but for the money or even double the money i have not found anything better. Their 2k primer I thought was alright, nothing to complain about, but I've used others that build faster, need less time to cure before sanding, sand easier. I'd probably prefer a finish master or Sherwin product there if they were not about 2x the price.

      how do you think the clear will hold up after a decade for customers who want no fading clear jobs

    • @celiturbo
      @celiturbo 2 года назад

      @@91rss I've never had or even heard of any clear fading since maybe the mid 90's. If you are talking about looking like its sun baked off or pealing that is 100% down to being improperly applied. It was either a thin single coat of a production clear as many body shops like to do cutting material costs or something with the base coat being too dry or not dry enough trapping solvents under the clear, temps maybe. In my experience its almost always because someone sprayed base one day and cleared it the next. I'd never even consider putting down clear after 2 hours has past, usually looking to spray clear right around 20min after last coat of base. Urethane clear properly applied over urethane base becomes one single coating that just can not separate. I'm not sure if its still the case but not too long back many of the HoK products lacked uv protection and so the color/candy coat pigments would fade. I wouldn't be worried about unless the products state otherwise. That sort of thing just isn't an issue with modern stuff, yeas coating store is a discount line but the reality of that is they are just putting their labels on the can, its still supplied to them by one of the few major manufactures. Quality differences are mostly going to come down to physical durability and how tolerant is the product to less that ideal application, how quickly can things be touched/assembled, how long till it reaches full hardness, how hard will it actually get. As for the CS stuff it seems pretty hard to mess up compared to a lot of paints I've used, The primers cure to dry sandable quick, the color covers reasonable enough, the clear glamor clear resists runs and self levels very well but it does take longer to cure than what some people may be used to, it wouldn't be suitable to a shop looking to get stuff out the door quick. 24-36 hours at 70f to safely handle parts, I'd give it 2-3 days before assembling anything, full hardness seems to be around the same 2-3 weeks as most other brands and it does get very hard, if you need to cut and polish i would do it within a week for sure or it will be a nightmare once it gets too hard.

  • @deankay4434
    @deankay4434 Год назад

    Less reducer means that pain has more pigment. The amount or urethane resins and drying agent is less. Get a $30 Harbor Freight spot light, swivels, magnetic base and light levels and check for thin spots and missed areas after second coat of color.
    There are 9 different ways clear coat shrinks. Do you mean it pulled away from the edges about 2 inches of what.
    Since you don’t not show, you must describe. Orange peel, hazing, dry spots, rough patch in one area, what booth? What size tip like 1.3mm, yellow hue, yes 70% of cleats including PPG, Sherrington-Williams, Speed-Coat, other have yellow hue now or later. How fast were you spraying, what over/lap did you try, PPG 2.0 cups or other keeping a 45 degree angle to the panels… I have many question and yes, MS Clear is less vicious as it has less solids in it. Use an export for the sealer over the high-build, primer or filler. Epoxy works best here to spot prime fill only only after sanded to P600-P800, epoxy, color then clear with 3 coats. Let cure for a week or two, final block, tach & blow, W&G, dry and put two wet on wet coats of clear, done! No cut & buff, no extra work, just put trim, windows, lights and finish out / done!
