Thank you my brother for having been with us again sharing another video, and thank you for bringing our work to your audience, I hope we can do many more this year🤙🤙
@PaintSociety I saw the primer and clear you use with toyota but out of curiously, which brand and line did you use for tge base. I have a 4runner and would like to use the same to keep my toyota consistent with brand as my car is a 2006 and the clear is still 💯. Just needs a heavy buff and polish to bring back tge shine
Excellent video! That paint turned out great. I can't thank you enough for all of the tutorials. While some may see the same process over and over, each video you have a little different spin on the process with different tips and techniques.

Hi Brian! I´ve got 2 days of binging on your videos and I can already tell I´m way further ahead then I was 2 days ago. I´ve got a car sales here in Spain, repair garages and lately a massive car body paint that I've set up. I´m having troubles building the team and I must learn how to diy for just in case. Next week I'm having my private painting course with the company I'm buying my materials from and I wanted to get ahead of the information thus your videos, your manner of explaining different details has helped me a lot. So I'm sending you a massive thank you!!! It means a lot to meet awesome teachers and professionals worldwide and make the world a better place through our collective work and passion for doing a brilliant job. I appreciate it!! I know it takes time and effort to build these videos too, apart from your daily tasks so yes, I'm grateful and it really means a lot!!
Im teaching a Spanish guy . He is awesome. I've been teaching him about a month. I'm going to let him see your videos. It will help him when I can't. Awsome videos.
South Denver (S. Littleton) has a Sherwin Williams Automotive store that I recommend. Last summer I did my son’s front bumper cover and they helped me a ton bc I told them I was a novice home painter. They gave me a lot of good info (and tbh this channel is solid gold too!) I did the stuff this channel recommends (2 primer, no sealer, 2 base, 2 clear) and the job came out great even with silver metallic. No issues.
Thank you Brian for all the great videos, your knowledge and information gave me the confidence to paint my boat and I am so happy with the results. I took notes after watching your videos, and spent hours prepping and trying to do everything right the first try. Very happy with my results.
12.50 - ROFL! THIS just happened to me! I repainted my sons Evo 8 front bumper and managed to cover the entire bumper with base and then ran out. I had just under one half of a litre of clear left, so watered it a little more than usual. Managed two coats and the last bottom lip I ran out! It can't be seen as such so I am not too concerned, but I count myself very lucky on this one.
I am absolutely hooked on your videos. I love the channel and an added bonus since I speak Spanish, Scorpion Paint’s channel is another favorite of mine.
@thewolf4120 Whatever the paint calls for the paint I use calls for a 1:1 mix ratio basically a 50/50 mixture. Say I want to mix 12 0z of sprayable material I would use 6 0z of reducer and 6 0z of paint it's that simple. Hope this helps you and try not to over think the mixing ratio.
While my car was getting painted the painter showed me around and his bottles which were two. They both cost 450$. The pain was the variant of a rxs type s with pearls. The rxs type s only has one variant so it was easy to find it but it was pricey. His paint was chromax
Great video. But I am getting ready to buy a 35 Ford Truck from Factory Five Racing. The kit has 17 panels all in fiberglass. Cab, 2 doors, 3 hood pieces, radiator cover, 4 fat fenders , 2 running boards, 4 bed panels. Most of the panels will need to be painted both sides. I guess I will start with a primer after I finish the body work. Then use that as a idea as to how much paint I will need. Right now I am thinking I will need 3 gallons of primer, 2 gallons sealer, 3 gallons base and 4 gallons of clear. Will be using PPG Paints, because they have a store 15 minutes from my home. Thank you Ron USCG RET
I remember you used the term orientation coat to describe last coat of base to ensure coverage lol I know it has many different terms control coat 1/2 coat drop coat also. It could be considered for beginners
Nice instruction! Some O'reilly's mix Nason and some NAPA does Martin Senour/Crossfire/Finish1, which all are Sherwin Williams branded, if I'm not mistaken. I think that largely has to do with what the body shop/paint distributor ratio in your area is as to whether they mix paint or not.
Hello! Are the amounts for primer and base the number of ounces per panel per coat, or for all coats? Im preparing to paint a little Scion IQ and dont want to grossly overbuy the paint 🤣. Thank you! And thanks for the awesome videos!
I'm so grateful for you info me on how to know right quality of material in painting work thanks very much brain but I have questions what do you mean by sealer coat please let me understand
what PSI were these guys shooting the clear coat at because crazy mist in the entire booth looks like they shot at a higher PSI versus the base coats. I try to shoot at a lower PSI to eliminate me from getting my full 3M mask cloudy then when I can not see it makes completing the job hard.
I'm going to be painting a vehicle about the same size as is in the video. It would have been nice if you would have stated the total volume used for paint and clear coat for this job.
Sealer (or what we call 'wet on wet' here) is great as you CAN just go to a 600g, rather than 800g min for basecoat. Also, wishy washy covering of sealer is much less of a problem getting coverage than over patchy primer areas. By the way, love the double booth, how much easier is it to paint a car and whole lot of panels / bars in that ? 👍
@@PaintSociety ahh, wondered about the side draft type booth, rather than downdraft. Haven't seen side draft booths for a lot of years here, but see them in US videos fairly often.
Thanks for the videos!!! Couple of questions. I'm painting my 66 Mustang in my garage. I'm trying to decide what brand paint to use. Not going for a concours look...just something that will look going at local shows. I have researched Omni, Limco, and Nason. I will be doing 2 stage. I'm leaning towards Nason but would love to hear what you think of these brands. I'll be using an LVLP gun if that makes a difference. The base will be sprayed over an Eastwood 2K urethane primer.
it would be nice if you could sometime mention the ratio in grams, for those of us who live in europe 😀Otherwise, great video like any other, I've been following you for years
Will you do a video with a two tone paint job? If I lay the first color, on the cab and middle section of the truck, do I put one coat clear, then tape up for the next color? Or just paint, flash, then tape?
Hey Brian, great video as always! I just have one question: do these measurements that you gave include the whole mix ratio, such as 7 ounces of Clear + Hardener + Reducer?
This off topic, I watched your channel all the time. I painted couple of bumpers with white color. Why do the white turn out creme white? Some angle look white
@@PaintSociety bit confused about that. 6 ounce including reducers already? If its a 1:1 mixing, so thats mean its only 3ounce of pure paint + 3 ounce of reduces?
Love the videos learnt loads and appreciate the time you take to do them but still confused with primers for plastic fairings. I have fixed them, filled them and sanded upto 360 grit ready for primer. After using an adhesion promoter which primer? Acyclic, epoxy, sealer? Will be painted in 1k white pearl. Any help would be appreciated 👍👍👍👍
This might sound like a stupid question but, are you quoting ounces already fully mixed with any reducers. etc? I just want to understand if you are talking about RTS or just the paint w/o reducers, etc.
Brian, I saw one of the guys using a 3M gun. Seems like a great one gun do all gun? I know I’ve seen you using it in the past. You didn’t list it as a gun in this description though. The DV1 is out of my price range and ability. Looking for a good gun to start and grow with. Thoughts?
I am about to retire from full time office work (lawyer) and then get a start on my projects - Pantera, Mustang, Camaro and F100. I am a self taught painter and can lay paint finish like a professional - but not as speedy as these guys that do it everyday with their talent (HA - but color matching - I can get a black and white - HA = zero skill at color matching) and always enjoy the little tricks you show in your videos. I am always one for technique (and forgetting the time that the "flick of the wrist" is required) -and it is not in this video - but I have watched professional painters lay paint down with the gun at angles all over the place on a bonnet or roof etc - not for a "flick of the wrist' reason, but poor wrist technique. Keeping your wrist nice and flexible so the fan is as close to the 'perfect' right angle and vertical to the surface ensures a more even coverage. Yes - panels are all different shape and there is often a compromise - but thinking about the best wrist angle and painting like a robot can help. I once saw a painter that used to paint the entire side of the car in one long sweep - he would walk along the entire length back and forth, not doing individual panels. It seemed to work for him, he obviously had his paint viscosity, speed etc down pat. And his wrist/gun technique was always 'perfect'. I am always a fan of just denibbing the final coat and polishing (HA - something I leave to others - I HATE polishing) and leaving a tiny amount of orange peel off the gun. Yes - carshow paint jobs will require flattening out with 3000 grit before polishing - but and everyday job looks so much more 'everyday friendly'. The slight orange peel can also help to break the reflection and disguise 'things' - HA - if that makes sense. Sort of like a 'used' black paint job compared to a 'used' metallic black - the varying reflections from the metallic black fool the eye into hiding the scratches that appear in a paint job from washing etc. Like when painting a black section on a bonnet, I used a MB metallic black, seems to get away with disguising those car wash haze.scratch that will appear one day, whereas straight black - HA - shows everything all the time - yes - I have had several straight black cars and bikes, they always look NEATO when new, but after a few years, they tend to look 'sad'. Thank you - I always enjoy your lessons. CHEERS from AUSTRALIA.
Yeah, it is important to have proper wrist-flicking technique at the end of a stroke when you are about to switch directions. If you don't do a proper wrist flick, you'll effectively spend double the time spraying paint on the spot where you stop and reverse direction. This, of course, will leave you with double the paint thickness at this point, which can then cause runs.
Many, but the cost will be astronimical compared to a sprayer...also a roof with rattle cans is difficult, you need to work in sections... best bet is get a sprayer with a good compressor...
How many oz of primer would you estimate per panel? I want to do a full paint job including door jams on my 97 4runner. It's currently silver and I want to change it to the autumn green (color code TAP) that the newer subaru outbacks have. I assumed that I would need to sand down each panel and give it primer, color, and clear. Is that the best approach? Yes... but check the ratio required for the base you're using. Could be 1:1 or 2:1. 3 quarts of unreduced should be plenty for a large car with a little bit extra depending on how good it covers. 2-2.5 unreduced quarts for paint that covers well

In determining the quantity of paint needed and you said 5-6 oz per panel for 2-3 coats. Are the oz including thinner/reducer???
Yes... but check the ratio required for the base you're using. Could be 1:1 or 2:1. 3 quarts of unreduced should be plenty for a large car with a little bit extra depending on how good it covers. 2-2.5 unreduced quarts for paint that covers well
Great video🔥🔥
What is the paint code that's you used?
