Lovely how is Mom mentioned that someday he would win a Oscar and wouldn't you know he actually did..Such a beautiful thing that she was actually able to witness him winning one and actually hold it in her hand.
I was AMAZED that he actually played Bethoven's works in the movie at concert level. That is until I learned that he actually was classically trained from a very young age. It makes sense because he has those deliciously long, slender fingers. I call them piano fingers.
What a great documentary, I hadn't been able to watch it before, I'm so glad I found it. Gary Oldman is just an amazing actor and fascinating man, I've followed his whole career, I love him greatly till this day.
It's very much a surprise to see any actor being this candid and honest about their life. This documentary was funny and touching. He is a magnificent actor and consistently delivers pitch perfect performances. Thankyou for uploading this
The intensity is called Passion. I don't think there is anyone Oldman cannot play. His acting stops you in your tracks! One day at a time! Please, direct produce more movies people need to see this as uncomfortable as it is.
He is truly the greatest actor of our generation! I was absolutely surprised to know that it was really he who was playing the piano in Immortal Beloved. Gary Oldman is absolutely fantastic! :)
He is an amazing actor and to get a glimpse of his early years is mesmerizing. Love the fact that he's so open and honest about his past just makes me love him more.
Talented, passionate, emotionally intelligent, cognitively intelligent, driven. I remember watching dracula decades ago to see Keanu. I remember thinking, looking at the young gothic/steampunk dracula, "this dracula is sexy". Had no clue it was this wonderful actor until recently. Saw him again much later as Sirius Black. Suffice to say the actor, still nameless to me at that time, in that character still sparks many a... fantasy 😉. Just when I thought maybe I'm just into him doing a gothic/steampunk look, I saw him in a Tarantino role that was rather titillating. If they casted him as a growing blade of grass, he'll make it worth the watch.
I thought he was good in Sid and Nancy, and Track 29, but it wasn't until State Of Grace that I thought, "This bloke is the real thing, I'm gonna keep an eye on him.". I've been an Oldboy ever since. 😼👍🏻
sometimes aspiring actors drop off their accents to order to become an actor (in drama schools). it's a rare thing - especially in those days, when gary started - to save your original accent.
I detect a deep sadness and regret when Gary speaks of his father....or the absence of the same. I believe his life and emotional acting style is a direct result of that void in his life. Is South London 'the Hood' by the way?? He seemed to have grown up in a middle class exitence, though, as opposed to a lower class one. Piano lessons and college are expensive so his mum did well as a single parent.
"As long as you can control that craziness ...not let it destroy you" ...quite right Anthony ...allow God to handle craziness ...can't do much better, I dare say 😅
The scene where Winstone's character pulverises Burke's character, nothing is explicitly shown. You think you have seen a viciously violent scene. All to the imagination. Clever directing by Oldman.
Charlie, he's a working class boy who went to drama school and ended up in Hollywood. You'd expect his accent to change. Or perhaps not. Perhaps his whole past is a fabrication. You decide what's more likely.
I was kind of surprised at Sir Tony's wrather lais sez faire attitude toward another thespians alcohol addiction. I guess not everyone has a desire to help a friend get sober. Interesting. I thought he'd have been more compassionate. Or maybe Sir Tony was more like a Richard Burtonesque figure and was like the man's man. You know, let a man have his vices as long as it doesn't corrupt his art kind of thing. 🤷🏽♀️
I found that hard to belive too. I remember watchin that film and thinkin it looked great how it looked like he was really playin it. I thought he was just plonkin away at any old key, not actualy playin the tune!
I don't think his background is fabricated but it bothers me when someone changes they're accent. Not just actors. My Scottish born cousins now speak with full blown English accents. Its all put on.
He was born in New Cross, south London, his dad was a welder. Went to the local comp. Eventually got a place at a drama school after being turned down by Rada. Of course after years of living in the US his accent has mellowed a bit ( although thank God it's still recognizably English and not mid-Atlantic. But his vowels are still pure Sarf Landan. If it matters.
I absolutely love Gary Oldman.
So sad Gary's mum has passed away but so happy she got to see him win an Oscar.
M rated documentary about Gary Oldman, where on the internet has this been hiding? I feel like I've found a treasure!
ME TOO!! ❤
Lovely how is Mom mentioned that someday he would win a Oscar and wouldn't you know he actually did..Such a beautiful thing that she was actually able to witness him winning one and actually hold it in her hand.
The best..
Dracul and I don't like people letting me down....
Honest man..
Can’t count how many times I’ve re watched this documentary. It might be my favourite one. It stays with you. It’s perfect
I still can't get over the fact that Gary Oldman played the piano in Immortal Beloved! That stuff is incredibly hard to play! He is simply wonderful!
Later on the video he did say he learned to play the piano to a very high level when he was very young.
I was AMAZED that he actually played Bethoven's works in the movie at concert level. That is until I learned that he actually was classically trained from a very young age. It makes sense because he has those deliciously long, slender fingers. I call them piano fingers.
Nil By Mouth - Just about one of the best films ever. Gary Oldman is a legend.
Oldman's portrayal of Oswald is one of the greatest performances I've ever seen.
I basically thought he was Oswald
What a great documentary, I hadn't been able to watch it before, I'm so glad I found it. Gary Oldman is just an amazing actor and fascinating man, I've followed his whole career, I love him greatly till this day.
i love gary ❤my favorite actor ever

Most underrated actor of our time!

Saying he's underrated is just crap.
@@doolally1478 why?
@@shannon6708 he's just not an "under rated" actor
I first saw this on Bravo. I've been looking for it for years. Really great doc on Oldman. Fascinating actor.
He is truly the greatest actor of our generation! I was absolutely surprised to know that it was really he who was playing the piano in Immortal Beloved. Gary Oldman is absolutely fantastic! :)
He has been so consistent across his career and is still playing great roles. This is a good look at him early on.
He is an amazing actor and to get a glimpse of his early years is mesmerizing. Love the fact that he's so open and honest about his past just makes me love him more.
He got a Southbank show 25 years ago!? Blimey!
I just don't know what to say...GARY OLDMAN ...Just made me cry in this film with these moments with His Mom
Great doc .oldman is pure class.
I love Gary in Slow Horses
Incredible actor. I’ve got nothing more to say
Such a brilliantly talented actor and Legend!
Oldman's portrayal of Dracula was one of the greatest performances I've ever seen!
The intensity is called passion.
Academy's biggest mistakes - not awarding Gary Oldman and Julianne Moore the oscar they deserve!
zasddsaf Now just Gary Oldman.
К сожалению, как бы ни был велик мистер Олдман, за пропаганду насилия "Оскары" не дают...
Sid and Nancy is the film that catapulted my love for Mr Oldman
Absolutely brilliant movie and actor's 🙏❤️🙏❤️👍👍🎦🎦🎦
New Cross was just up the road from us...The 5 Bells pub was in the Old Kent Road...those were the days...Xxx
thanks for uploading. i was aware of a movie he directed but have yet to see it. if he is behind it i am sure it is good.
That ending sums him up for me, he is genuinely just having a laugh with his mum but it is delivered in a way that makes your blood go cold!

LOVE EMMMM
I was watching something where he said he wasn't the best looking man omg there is nothing wrong with his looks I think he's georgous
Well we know where Gary draws his passion..

Actors get voice trained in Drama school so they can be understood by an international audience.
Gary as sid in sid and nancy gary just nailed it

*Garys Mom:* "Yeah, that ya cuddly. You still are."
*Gary:* "Thank you, mother."
Beautiful :)
Gary Oldman is rated M for Mature. It is illegal for any people not of legal age to talk to him, or even look at him
I was sitting here thinking , the best actor ive ever seen is gary oldman...looked him up and saw this! The best actor and interestingnas well!

Great guy,him and ronnie o'Sullivan two of London's finest!

They should do a a continuation of nil by mouth film and mean time film etc
Remember watching this the Sunday night it first came out. The mother got it right about the Oscar anyway
Nil by mouth is film making with a sledge hammer, be prepared 👊
27:30
Gary nails it
Nil by Mouth . His film
Wow
Gibts die auch auf deutsch
state of grace , classic,
No better actor..
I'd marry that.
good old east london accent pretty working class to me

Eh excuse me, I am from Scotland and I lived and studied in London for four years. That is not a working class London accent.
I found that hard to belive too. I remember watchin that film and thinkin it looked great how it looked like he was really playin it. I thought he was just plonkin away at any old key, not actualy playin the tune!

She doesn't deserve one hair on your head George
His sister was in Eastenders for a long time. And she was in nil by mouth.
I love Gary Oldman but honestly wtf is going on with his accent? I thought he was working class.
Why are you banging on about this? It's most odd.
I remember he said for Tinker Taylor, he had to relearn parts of the English accent, cause he'd been in the states so long.
Can you imagine GO playing Alex in A Clockwork Orange? That woulds be something I would pay a £ for.
