    This Pilates Unilateral workout is Day 12 of the 30-Day Pilates Journey, “Finding your Center.” In unilateral exercises, we work one arm and/or leg at a time. This helps to strengthen the weaker side and also improves our core strength and stability since unilateral movements often pull us out of center if we aren’t engaged in our core.
    When we work bilaterally (when both arms/legs moving together), we tend to use our stronger side to compensate for our weaker side, which means the weaker side won’t ever get as strong. When you do unilateral movements, you’re isolating each side separately. This is why these movements are important for injury or surgery recovery so you can work towards equal strength in both sides.

    This was a very mentally challenging day for me. I came to the mat feeling tired and unmotivated. I also struggled quite a bit in most of the movements. So for this reason I am forcing myself now to be positive for the rest of the day and allow my body to take it easy, instead of trying to push myself until I am able to do something challenging perfectly. I have a glass chilling in the fridge right now with some nutella and cinnamon on the bottom, so I can make myself a pretty and tasty layered coffee. I will then sit down and put on some RUclips or Twitch and listen to podcasts and watch videos while working on a diamond painting. Hope everyone watching these videos has an amazing day filled with happiness and warmth ❤❤

      What an AMAZING way to turn your day around with positive thoughts and small moments of joy throughout your day! Some days are harder than others, both physically and mentally, and we can't beat ourselves up on those days. These one-sided/unilateral exercises are very challenging, since we all have a side that is weaker. So just take note of what was difficult... awareness is key!
