The next thing you need to do to the motor is submerge it in water for 5 minutes. You've got me interested in this motor I might try it out.
after he ruins his on your water test 😳
Just tested mine for the first time this weekend. Every bit as good as the standard AXE 1800. Very happy and love the clean install. Runs cool under real world crawling.
Thanks for your Great review. I always enjoy seeing what you have and how fair your reviews are. Never a waste of time seeing what you put out ! Great Job
I appreciate that!
I've got two of these coming for my crawlers already have an AXE from this video thx they look to suited what I want.
Crawling just got 1000% better.... ohhh hell yeah!!! Thanks for the review!! love the channel!!!
Great test! Big fan of the Axe systems. Love how the V2 performs.
You always have the BEST reviews!!!
Really enjoy your reviews!
Awesome vid as always francis
Man you're costing me some money lmao I got the trx4 bronco a couple weeks ago because of your reviews and today I just bought this fusion system in it. I was going to just get some brushed motor to replace the stock trx4 one but then the guy at my LHS pulled this out and I had to get it and I'm glad I did its really amazing.
just ordered one for my trx4 cant wait to set it up
This is a great review. I was looking at one of these. I still like a stand alone esc.
Great test and review!
I will be putting one in my TRX4 bronco this summer.
Temp gun under $30 at harbor freight, great review and now i can't wait to drag my wifes yogi weights around too!
Great review!
Awesome review - thank you for trying to cook it ! ! ! That's my biggest worry in a really heavy trailing rig. I'm dying to know how long it will survive in water.
Few more days... just few more days and I will get my package and I will try this one!!!
Thank you for making videos.
Thank you!
Great videos as also. Thinking about finally swapping to brushless in my crawlers. A little nervous about how low the stated continuous/peak amperages are. They are a fraction of what the brushed Hobbywing 1080 ESC is rated at!
Great Video! Thanks. I´d just build this Motor in my Sherpa Pro. This Motor is awesom!
Yes, great choice. So light and efficient
This is a pretty interesting product from Hobbywing. Not a big crawler guy, but definitely would consider this when I build my next crawler next year.
Yup, Love that they're pushing the envelope.
Impressive modulation indeed...less wires equals cleaner setup.
Loved this combo. Ran into a issue where it just wouldn't power up. Running to hobbytown tomorrow to see about warrenty.
Not sure I would have placed in weakness "crawler only"... It's a motor made for crawlers, not for drag car... Same thing for a drag motor, it's not made for a crawler... But overall, I think this is another demonstration of the progress Hobbywing has made in the crawler world... Thanks for this review!
do a side by side drag test with a axe system
An underwater test would be great Francis. We the people are asking really nicely...please 🙏
Just ordered one for my trx6. First time going brushless on a crawler.
Just wondering how that turned out? my motor on my trx6 just died was considering this motor as an upgrade
Class ! 👍
Having just built my TRX-4 the thing that's annoying me is the loudness of the included ESC. That tiny "eeeeeeeee" sound all the time kind of drives me nuts. But if I get the Hobbywing 1080 ESC then I have to do some soldering, which I've never done before and I'm nervous about. The Fusion removes the need to solder, gets me a quiet ESC+motor combo and evidently performs much better. Pretty impressive to see it pull that weight for that long too. Thanks for posting!
Learn to solder its fun you can make coolstuff and save your money
All motors are revolutionary!
That's like saying all cars are revolutionary. It might be true but it helps no one make a decision for them.
RC Review the wheel is the most revolutionary invention.
I wish you'd compare the Hobbywing Quicrun with the Hobbywing Axe R2 Review. The difference seems to be about $60-80. With the Axe R2 having 6 amp current vs. 3 amps available on this guy. Might be worthwhile to get a thermal camera to see where the heat is, and what happen if you install a cooling fan / heat sink.
first!
😂😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣
LOL
Nice
Hey! Can you test the esc amp output on this like you did the 1080 and other escs? Be curious to see if this can still power a decent servo. Thanks!
Lmao, clever.
Did you keep your bec set at 6v for the little shift servos or can you run them at 7.4?
I think this might be worth checking out for my tf2.
congratulations for your videos, they are very well done, but with this modification you have lost the traxxas bluetooth?
Great test methodology. If overheating is an issue, is an external fan available for it? If you still have this motor system, how is it now?
Is it faster then the stock 21t motor with 1080esc on second gear ?
THATS PRETTY COOL 😁🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙
Would this be fine for my trx4.
Hey bro if you were going to run this in a Capra which KV would you go with I was thinking the lower TV rating for a little more torque and less we will speed considering the Capra is geared so fast
Just got my first RC trail/crawler rig (TRX4 Defender Grey) and loaded it up with Samix black coated brass all over, shock towers, servo arm, new Protec 370 steering servo, Vanquish Method wheels on Proline BFG TA mud/crawler tires and next purchase will be this Hobbywing motor. I don't even have a battery yet and am beyond stoked modding this bitchy trail queen out. Can't wait until it's done. Patience, it's been a long haul with saving for and shipping parts. 3 months in. I can do this.. Hahaha, hell yes!!!
Hey man I just bought a trx4 and I'm thinking about buying this how did the motor hold up for you
Hi there! will this motor and ESC run well on 7.4v NiMh 5000mAh packs? Many thanks for your awesome vids!
I purchased one of these and love it. Only, I can’t seem to get proportional throttle control in reverse? Any thoughts?
If i wanted to throw a good motor esc combo in a unimog for towing or dragging logs/recover other stuck trucks what would be good? Best torque for buck? I had a stock axial deadbolt and that was able to drag a 3year old on a tricycle not sure if it would hold up to doing it a lot tho
Question sir can the fusion motor works very well in a trx6?
You should have been able to connect it to the hobbywing app and it will tell you the max temp of the last session.
I'm really wanting to go brushless in fully built lcg scx10.2 but I run my rig in/around water. Any suggestions for a highly waterproof setup? I'm tired of destroying brushed motors in the dirty water and sand.
Great review and really nice explanations. You reckon the motor will get this hot under normal conditions, when not dragging around 10 pounds? What do you think the heat reduction would be in Centigrades adding a heat sink?
@@adamlukas3967 Cheers, i bought the motor and ive ran it nonstop climbing really steep slopes full throttle and various terrain for an good hour on both 2 and 3s and it performs really good, meaning not getting crazy hot regardless 2/3s.
Just installed 1800kv in my SCX10 ii. Its way faster!! This is by far the best upgrade besides the replacing the stock shocks.
How the scx10ii still doing with the 1800kv fusion? Thinking about getting one for my UMG10.
@@sserna1077 not good now. Motor died and will not power ON. I have the 1800kv 2 in 1 esc. Anyone else have issue?
Never driven in rain or water. Im middle of trying to get a replacement through warranty dept. Has been 3 weeks!
I pulled a cinder block with my defender had to add half a block on top of the truck but it did it lol. I was proud. Stock motor
Very nice!!!
What do you think of the fusion combo with 1200kv in the trx-4 sport on 2 and 3s?
Hi mate what motor would you recommend for my trx6.I need something with more torque . Thanks 🙏🏻
Well, I'm about to put it into my trx6. I hope 1800 is enough. If not, I'll switch brands and get bigger kv
I love my hobbywing axe
but does it love you back?
How is the heat situation for long run time
Question iam going to add it in a scx10iii what pinion should i go with
I bought this.put it in my trailwalker..tried to run some tube chassis lights off the stock reciever on aux and ch 3 they work for few seconds then shut off. Any ideas
Thanks for this Francis. I just bought one of these, recommended by a hard core crawler shop here in Colorado. I can put it in my TRX4 Sport but I would like to put it in a Vanquish VS4-10 pro kit I have not built yet. Do you know if it will fit?
Did it fit ?
@@christopherbouman160 Negative. Bummer.
Will the ess dual sound device work if the hobbywing fusion is installed. ?
I currently own a 1200kv for my trx4 defender and a 1200kv for my trx 63. I just bought a trx6 hauler and the 1200kv is sold out everywhere. I bought a 2300kv. Do you think I should put the 2300kv in the trx4 and put the 1200kv in the hauler? or Do you think 2300kv is more powerful and torqy than then the 1200kv.
Ordered one for trx4 as driving in watery mud keeps killing my brushed motors lol
I look forward to when this sort of thing exists in a small scale, small enough to fit in 1/18 and 1/24 crawlers
give it five years
It already does.. not foc but, almost foc
good for trailing or can it get too hot??
I keep on thinking someone is going to drop some bars with that sick beat!!
drop the beat. Boom!!
how would this fair in a class 1 comp truck just under 7lbs
hello friend.. just want to know if fusion waterproof?
Are there any weight advantages is it lighter than a combo ese motor or is it heavier?
my Review: Its very good, but i miss the intermediate Option on Throttle/RPM-Matching (1. Option to change on the Programm card). Its just on or off. But on on it is not smooth enough when changing speeds. You feel the System calculate and modulate too much. I like the intermediate Option, as standart on the Axe. So for me its just the Axe Foc Combo...with Auto-Drag Brake and Bluetooth also.
This is exactly what I'm finding so far.
Had any issues with this system? I’ve had two that all of a sudden stopped working in reverse.
Take it once you change to this the tq module in my controller wont link with app
This video is exactly 4 days too late. As I just purchased new 130 amp spectrum combo. Because I was unsure of this combination in your crawler. I have to say It’s impressive
Finally
Great upload. Thank you.
How does it compare to the 1080 on drag break down an incline.
This brakes harder. And when the it's moving down a very steep pitch, it does not freewheel at all. It just goes according to the throttle commands of the driver.
@@RCReviewChannel Awesome. Thank you for the reply.
Drag Brake is smoother when fast and harder when slow. Its just perfect with these Brushless Systems.
Can you use this with holmes hobbie servo?
How is the top speed in 2nd gear compared to the stock motor? Also, I'm curious to know how hot the motor gets with prolonged use in 2nd gear.
About the same speed. With prolonged use, it really doesn't get hot unless bound up or severely stressed.
Does this still have the auto adaptable dragbrake? (100% at low speed, less and less at higher speeds)
No Auto-Mode. But its good also.
What radio did you use
I don't know how anyone thinks the cruise /maintain speed control is an advantage in comps, I think it's really neat idea but all the comps I know of are timed events so you don't have time to sit around & play with those functions . it's all about move move move onto the next gate lol... 😄
You were accomplishing the slow crawl by using Throttle Trim? I bought one of these Motors through your link on the previous video.
Yes, throttle trim only. I assigned the multifunction knob to throttle trim on the Traxxas TQI transmitter.
he's also using a Traxxas transmitter that also has a cruise control function that allows you to use the TSM knob as the cruise control instead of throttle trim.
Did he mention that in video?
Hmmm, It’s like the Team Orion D drive from years ago. Maybe I missed it, Is this one sensored? The old Orion’s were sensorless but went up to 3000kv if I’m not mistaken.
Yes team orion did before but hobbywing did for crawler first the problem to do that in fast motor is high rpm Will make it hot so for crawler is a great idea
I've seen these on some Orion motors as well. Thins makes me wonder about trying one in place of my Tekin.
Francis maybe it wasn’t hot enough to shutdown? Maybe measure the temp with infrared temp gun.
It was definitely torched as it was hot 10mm above the motor.. And 2 minutes later, it was still in slow mode. But yes, temp gun.
Ok thanks I bought one based from your first vid. I like it so far and I put on a heatsink that I had laying in the toolbox. Love your channel.
Perfect for my SCX24 :)
Haters going to hate to tell you that low speed automatic system I can really see where that would be an advantage in super technical tight areas
Such a great option. And it can be turned off or configured.
The issue for me is, If one part goes its all dead,The Axe system while impressive, still limits you on choices for motors.
AXE does look pretty good though
My thoughts exactly. It is a pretty cool set up though.
tires 120mm ???
it shouldn't shut the motor down until it's around 160-180 degrees, no ??
Would this be a good upgrade for the trx6
550 axe for that one
So have you done any more testing is it worth putting in a defender.....dont want to get it and its a waste
Definitely worth it. Rallied hard last weekend and it's still working solid!!!!
just wish they would release 2300kv version
Heat would be a concern. But it can be shipped with a fan to address that.
Very impressive low speed control! I love my axe 550 3300kv. Just picked up a HH puller pro v2 3500kv and a mamba x to see how it stacks up against the axe system. Have it in the scx10 iii with low tranny gearing and 12T pinion on 3s. Whats your thoughts on the 2 setups?
Axe is super silent. Mamba X is loud peeping or i am wrong?
@@runnerbaba you can turn off the beeps with the Castle link. The mamba x and hh puller pro v2 is by far the superior setup!! Hands down my favorite crawler system. The low speed control you can achieve with the adjustable throttle curve is amazing! You have to experience it to feel the difference. I put my axe system in my redcat gen8. The scx10 iii deserves the better system.
@@Ferra3904 which puller pro v2 would u put in a trx4 sport?
@@jdssurf 2700kv
@@Ferra3904 stubby or regular, or is there only one
Can the hobby wing fusion run in a trx6????
I do not see why not. The TRX6 comes with the same motor as the TRX4.
What pinion we’re you running
Pinion is 11t
So...... Basically you're saying that in an overheat condition, this has a "Limp Home" mode, like a modern Car after a catastrophic Computer failure... To get you home.
Which 100°? 100° Celsius is quite hot!
i was wondering if you can do a video on the new 10.3 spektrum esc? like how to program it
I guess you can add a heat sink/fan ?
Absolutely. Very cheap and easy. In fact, so many ESC's come with one.
@@RCReviewChannel and it is recommended for that combo? I've been told it's really wam and get damaged.
idk bout ya but my trx4 sport pulls my mom in her wheelchair with the castle mamba x and slate 2850 kv motor.
but its not deadly silent...
The next level of refinement would be if it were repairable
Yea
