    Excellent video! I think you could explain more about the consept of power, speed and torque, their relation to each other and to acceleration and weight of the car. Everyone is talking about the speed and kv as being power. I have not found many esc manufacturers that actually give torque constants, nominal and peak torques for their motors... or similar values to their ESC.
    Another question for you, do you know if there are any ESCs that allow syncing multple untis and choosing between speed or torque control modes?

    Missed to mention some ESC and motor combos have a thermal sensor signal on the motor and gets fed to the ESC. The ESC can do thermal shutdown if either itself or the motor gets too hot. The Max10 SCT combo and the AXE has this.

    Also in regard to sensored, I prefer sensored. I don't use crawlers. I only use bashers and on road but I like the performance the sensors provide it's a smoother experience and imo it helps with efficiency and temps.

      Yeah, some drift cars, race cars prefer sensored as well. If control is most important, they work well.

    2 years ago I was experiencing thermal shut down on my M41 at the lake. At first I didn't realize what was going till I the boat back in the truck and looked at the outside temp, it was 109 on the beach. So I went back in the evening and drove it when it was cooler out.

    Great video, thanks so much for the info!...Also, something i would like to know, I'm sure a lot of people would want to know ....is about how the electric rc system works together, as in.. From what i have understood, the motor demands power from the esc, and and esc draws it from the battery... That sort of thing explained well with example values..

    Kv is still confusing to me. The way I understand how brushless motors work is by creating a rotating magnetic field by switching particular phases. So it’s not how many volts will be supplied to the motor will determine the rpms but how fast the phases are being switched on and off so that the rotator will follow magnetic field of the stator. So what’s really Kv is for?

    Just subscribed! You definitely know your stuff and I’m just starting out. I’ve built real FWD All Motor Honda Drag Cars for 20 years. Now I’m getting into R/c. I have a question. I purchased a fully aluminum TT02RR. Everything is alloy. On my kit. It came from power day and allegedly is not a true Tamiya. but the spur cover is the only plastic in it. I have even upgraded the spur to metal. I purchased a S3650-3500kv Brushless motor. What pinion gear shall I use for it? The higher the pinion number, the higher top speed? But less acceleration? Is that right? And will the S3650 be a good fit? On a TT02 chassis? Any other tips? That I should be careful for? I bought 2s lIPO batts. Hobby wing ESC. Motor is sensor less. I also bought a 12kg low pro servo. Waiting for other misc parts like shock oil. Tire glue to arrive before mounting motor but. Anything you recommend? I just want to try and go 60 mph 70-80 tops. Only going to be ripping the parking lot with it or flat straights.

    Useful video. Perhaps in a future video you could compare 3 and 5 slot 540 and 550 brushed motors as well as brushless motor KV against brushed motor turns. That would help folks looking to upgrade pick a suitable set up

    Thank you very informative & explained in simple terms so anyone can understand them. For me I’m into crawlers mostly & brushed motors are so good I have no problems using them. I think it is a trend for people to get the brushes because they see a lot of the channels using them & think that this is a higher quality & more sought after upgrade. I do see that they are very smooth at low speed. And have alot of power. So when you have to hope over something it could be a benefit.. Being sensored or not just seems like it’s not the motor just the esc that is controlling the motor that makes it so smooth at low speed so. So the quality of the esc is everthing. So what are the top benefits of using a brushless sensored motor in a crawler?

      Watch the review of the Hobbywing Fusion FOC system then you'll understand the high end brushless systems. I was much like you with a brushed crawler setup. thought it was more than adequate.
      Bought a Fusion 1800kv and it's transformed the car in ways I could only imagine before. So incredibly smooth and very powerful...and compact.

    Very interesting explanations. I didn't know that some motors had the ESC built in! Does that mean if you had one you could take out the traditional ESC and just connect the motor to the receiver?

    From What I Got Out Of Video Can Brushless Motors Overload A Smaller ESC? I'm Thinking They Don't? They Just Won't Run A Full Potential Correct? I Know You Can Overload A Brushed Motor ESC With A Big Brushed Motor But It Sounds Like The Brushless ESCs Put Out What It Can Were As Brushed ESC Will Put Out Based On What The Motor Draws If That Makes Sense?

    in the fusion motors what is the difference in a 1200 than a 1800? im building an ultimate hauler to haul my huina 580 exc. i need a truly torque dense motor as the exc. is 24lbs itself

    Looking into hobbiewing axe brushless for a trx-4 bronco should i go geared down 3300 kv 550 can or 2800kv 540 can. Don't need to go really fast. It's my first crawler so I don't mind going brushless.

    Something more I just figured out is on Brushless unsensored is you can switch the 2 outside wires to change the motor direction. Had to do that to get max forward speed from both 2838 cans in my Blizzard otherwise one motor runs slower.
    Learnings never stop...nor should they haha

      You can actually swap any of the 3 wires and it’ll go in reverse direction. But I do normally swap A and C to reverse the direction. Some, if not most, ESCs have a function to reverse the motor direction. The cheap ESCs in my Clod supposedly has this function, but for some reason whether I have it clockwise or counter clockwise, it still goes in the same direction, so I ended up just swapping the A and C wires.

    Maitian MT-W50-G2: 295kv brushless out runner Power60
    It is in a bait boat that I have and I am looking to replace it for a more powerful motor but in the same size if possible. It has to be an out runner. Would you have any recommendations. Thanks

    I never though I need to open a waterproof inrunner (yea they not mean there will get no water in it because there was a big hole where the cables get in)
    The motor behaved strange and I found rust and sand in it. I tried to clean it and used some oil and grease.
    Is it normal that the motor gets 55° Celsius after less than 2 minutes but only use 20% of throttle? I don't know what is happening. I can't programm the ESC (new one) and though maybe it's the timing. The bearing do sound strange but the motor runs pretty freely.

      definitely not. Spin the spur gear by hand (or the driveshaft) and see if there's any resistance or binding in the system. That will usually cause it. Eliminate any binding as the whole drivetrain needs to be free moving. The wheels usually cause a problem.

    I understand outrunner are indeed for higher revolutions as well since they are used in drones. Due to this, an important thing to mention is to check if the motor has reverse when buying one 😂

      Drones use big props (relative to the motor) so outrunners are ideal with their high torque.

      I'm not sure anyone publishes that. There's also FOC technology that negates that as it applies more torque automatically at very low speed.

    Do All Brushless Motors Use Neodymium Magnets? In The Car Audio World Neos Biggest Weakness Is Heat. Heat De Magnetizes Neos Sooner Than The Old School Ferrite Magnets. But In Car Audio You Could Recharge The Magnets If Needed But In A Motor That's Not Really An Option Due To Each Magnet Needing To Be Recharged In A Certain Pole Direction.

      Not normal. There might be some binding in the drivetrain.

    Next time do the pros and cons of sensored vs sensorless. I know sensored are almost as good as brushed motors when it comes to low RPM, no cogging unlike sensorless. But I heard sensorless are better at higher rpm.

    My only complaint or possibly misstatement you made imo is when you said "sensored only" for crawlers. Then of course you show a crawler with a revolver and then put a revolver on screen. That can be super confusing for guys trying to learn about outrunners. That's why I say you do a little bit more of an in depth video about the outrunners.

      For trail crawlers yes. High end and comp crawlers, most go another direction.

      @RCReviewChannel your video was still highly useful for me. Thank you. Tbh i assumed it was kilo volt before and was beyond confused lol. After watching i realized it seems to be a convenient marketing strategy for the manufacturers :D knowing its rpm is helpful but its just like, you could have a 2015 motor with a 6700kv and a 4270 motor with 6700kv and to a novice they might appear equivalent when in reality the amount of current, the number of windings, and so many more things are needed to truly evaluate what you might be getting. One thing i think i figured out is that a higher kv motor is generally gonna produce less overall torque than a lower kv motor (of other equivalent specs)? Is that about right
