Just the video i was looking for, thanks for this! Think i’m going top mount with a smaller xona rotor and cooling upgrades. Looking for a responsive track build
Great question. Not personally since I haven't seen too many people run them. I can't think of anyone in my local group that runs it to at least get their thoughts. List is geared towards the most popular options, not all available options.
Is it worth going stock location now and switching to top mount down the road, knowing I'll want more power? How far can you upgrade stock location until going top mount becomes the ultimate route?🤔
So I was there before. You have to ask yourself, what is your final goal for the car? Is it going to be a street monster, an autocross car...? I would suggest just saving money for getting to that final spot instead of wasting money incrementally modding the car. With the money I put towards the Pure 800 and additional mods, I would have saved some money going straight to a top mount and being happy with it.
If I want to stay around 550-600whp and just have a “reliable” yet fast build, should I keep the stock turbo or go up to a stock location aftermarket? I’m looking for more power while keeping the low end torque. Also, I’m coming up on 45k miles, is there anything I should be looking out for other than spark plugs and general oil changes/filter cleanings?
If you're looking for low end torque he said in the video that the pure 800/850 has more response than the big single. The pure is also made to make 600-700 whp.
^this exactly. An upgraded stock location turbo will get you there, just choose which one that fits your budget. As for where you're at now, just regular stuff like what you mentioned already. Might look and see where your brake pad wear is at if you haven't replaced them yet. Maybe might need to do a coolant flush, but you'll do that if you upgrade the turbo.
That’s interesting, I was one of the first with cts turbo and I dont use a Bov/bov and on stock chargepipe…should I swap it? Drove it like this for 30k miles already lolol
How much boost are you running through it again? I should have added a notation on the video, but typically the problems occur with those that are maxing out the turbo, which you're not doing.
@@VinceChristmastree definitely an informative video I was looking for. Been wanting a video on this and could not find one. Thanks again for making it.
Hi, Vince I enjoy watching the informative videos. I have a question, I got a cloneable ecu and wanted to get my car tuned soon. I wanted to ask if I should go with Ecutek, or Bootmod3? Now that bootmod3 has custom rom I'm not sure which to pick from. Thanks!
Glad to help! Great question, as of the moment, Ecutek would be your best bet if you wanted to have the widest selection of tuners. However, with how the EPA is cracking down on modifications, Ecutek might be affected the same way that Cobb was since they are owned by the same company. If you don't know, Cobb had to modify their platform to not allow emissions defeating devices (i.e. catless downpipes). I'm not sure if BM3 will be affected. BM3 right now, big tuners are Sameh Yehia and Mikey Botti. Both great choices. Ultimately, whichever you feel most comfortable going with and what fits your budget. BM3 is going to be a little bit cheaper if I remember correctly.
Awesome! Thanks for the advice. Preferably, I would like to get tuned by Sti Mikey, but knowing how busy he is, I'm not too sure when I'll be able to. I'm kinda late into the game, but hopefully, I can get tuned by Mike Botti. I have a 2021 with basic bolt ons, so I'm basically sorta stock. It's been like that for a while, so I want to spice things up a bit with an ethanol mix E50 tune.

6466 for everywhere but the highway. Yes a 6870 can make more top end power, but your power band will be narrow. 6466 for anything under 800hp. I think a lot of people don't understand that a big turbo will still make more compressor heat when it's below it's efficiency island. (Vs a smaller unit that is in its sweet spot. At the same boost ) Unless you plan on running kill mode all the time with the 6870, the 6466 is a much better match on a 3 liter.

Thanks for watching and commenting! That would be a great choice. This turbo is too big for the twisties now that I've experienced it.
No thoughts on the Remnant Performance turbo?

I plan to go that route. Soon as I get it all set up I will hit you up. 😁
It’s still so early with that thing we still gotta see some runs/results from it. Looks amazing though for stock location.
Let me know! Curious to see how it performs with non-shop cars.
@@VinceChristmastree I will when I get a new supra 😭
Pure Turbo update; I just ordered a Pure800 with T51R. It’s a replacement turbo, so you don’t need to send in stock turbo.
They're not taking cores anymore? Or you just bought it straight up?

That’s true I am not maxing out yet, more supporting mods to buy lol
What supporting mods do you need if you went with a cts turbo kit? Besides the charg pipe and bov ?
I kinda wanna be in the 700 area I think it’s a solid number for me since i daily mine as well and wanna keep it reliable
Depends on the power. It's recommended to at least get port injection to run up to E70 and upgraded trans if you want to maximize the torque.
nice car man keep up
Thanks, will do!
Thanks for the upload!
Of course! Thanks for the suggestion!

If I'm spending thousands on a turbo kit you can bet your ass I'll want to see all of it, even if it costs more 😝
That's right LOL

Appreciate you tuning in again bro!
hey vince, do you know if i went pure 800 turbo do i need to build the trans? or can the stock trans hold at 500 whp or so?
As long as your tuner limits it to not pass 600-650wtq. That’s when the trans starts slipping.
