    Vince, I’ll be 4 years in Feb and currently 66k miles, all stock minus my aero. Zero issues with 5k miles oil changes, 30k mile spark plugs replacement, 15k miles cabin/engine filter replacement, 50k mile trans/diff service, all DIY from me. I have had ZERO issues with this car. Zero faults, zero CEL. This car is super reliable!

    Thank you so much for your time and effort towards promoting the platform I can cotest as well being a MKV Supra owner it is very drama free, the only drama you get is if you go to the dealership and they hit you with the out of warranty things, but its been worry free since my ownership began in 2022, almost 3 years later and 75000 miles roughly on the car it is amazing ! A lot of potential and the car drives the same as when I bought it new ! All I can say Vince is thank you again for the vlogs and adventures ! Oh and for the ones on the fence about getting one do it you will regret not getting one, still have some time I believe one more year.

      Of course Chris! Glad to see you're driving your car and enjoying the heck out of it. Got tired of the dealer BS so this car probably has been at the dealer once or twice in the 4 years of ownership.
      More to come of course, hopefully more roadtrips! I'm biased, but I think this is one of those cars that people will look back at and say it was "under appreciated" because of the collaboration with BMW.

      @@chrisperez5969It will never be eventually appreciated like the MKIV. I remember being a little kid in the 90’s wanting nothing more than a MKIV before it eventually exploded in popularity due to the fast and the furious. I appreciate you sharing your views and experiences. I don't think it's fair to Toyota or BMW to hold *modified* vehicles to any reliability standard, but it's good to see how the platform is holding up as a whole after well over 100k kms. I remember people on YT were really trashing the A90 for "being a BMW" and Day 1 complaining about reliability issues, so it's great to hear an owner's perspective after plenty of miles.

    • @VinceChristmastree
      @VinceChristmastree  2 месяца назад +2

      Completely fair point to make! I saw those types of videos too. They were one of the main reasons why I started documenting my ownership. I figured the best way to convince people is to actually mod the car and drive it; it's more difficult to tell people everything is going to be fine without actually putting the proof out there.
      So I remember thinking to myself, "hey if I mod this car a lot and it lasts, then no one can say anything about a stock or lightly modded car not lasting".

      Hey Eric! Thanks so much. For the 2021 oil burning issue, reach out to your local dealership on that to determine if it is within spec. Since your car is stock, they should cover any replacements if needed. I can't remember off the top of my head if there was a TSB for the 2021s having that issue, but there have been cases where the dealer determined the oil burning is out of spec and they replaced the engine completely. With that said, that is the ideal result, but each dealer is different and the turnaround time might be long.

      Spark plugs, I just didn't swap them out when I should have. Ended up causing misfires, but I swapped them out the same day and no issues since. Had too many miles on the original ones.
      I am running OEM VW plugs now actually. Can't remember the gap, but the part # is 06M-905-606-F. Completely compatible with the B58 and a fraction of the price of OEM BMW plugs.
      Brake wear sensors, the ones I put on my car won't sync to the car so I have the annoying "BRAKE" light. Different from the "PARK" light when the e-brake is on.

      @ thanks for the feedback! I’ll see if I can find one on Turo or find a willing dealer to let me try a manual version! I love the supra design and enjoyed my time while I had one. Being on the shorter side I didn’t run into any of those issues while climbing in or not having enough space inside. Great car, it always reminds me of my old 13’ 135i I use to have I think that’s why I’m drawn to it🙂‍↕️

    I’m curious, how did you address the paint chipping from the side fenders behind the front and rear wheels? PPF? someone told me its inevitable no matter what you do. I’m trying to gather opinion.

      I have the ZL1 rock guards. Pair that with some PPF and you should be good. Mine isn’t terrible but it also isn’t in mint condition.

    Hi Vince.. Can u mention what major services u have done so far.. What's ur expectations on timing chain change

    • @VinceChristmastree
      @VinceChristmastree  2 месяца назад +1

      Honestly, I haven't heard or seen anyone talk about the timing chain on this platform because there's so few that are in the very high mileage range. Timing chain is generally a "lifetime" part. We shall see.
      All other major services I mentioned in the video.

      Tough to say for the Gen 1 B58s, but there's plenty of high mileage ones out there. As far as I'm aware, Gen 2s are much more reliable. Lots of X3 M40i's with over 100k miles.

    Vince roughly do you know what it should cost me to have the spark plugs, trans fluid, coolant flush, dif fluid and brake fluid done through a third party? Just bought a used 2020 3.0 premium unmodded with 22k miles and wanna make sure everything is done to ensure the life of the car. Thank you.

      @@jamesharless6103 I bought a 2020 with this exact mileage recently; what makes you think you need to do all that?

    • @jamesharless6103
      @jamesharless6103 2 месяца назад +1

      @holoblack i have always been proactive with fluids and spark plugs with sport cars and without knowing how hard the previous driver drove the car it gives me the peace of mind also from research most people do these things on the supras in the 20k miles range.

    • @VinceChristmastree
      @VinceChristmastree  2 месяца назад +1

      Great question. Honestly, not sure since each shop charges a different rate. Probably will have to do the classic "call around and compare prices" strategy. Have you tried the supramkv.com forum? They have a sub-forum for different areas in the country so you can have other locals chime in.
      At 22K miles though if it is truly unmodded (not returned to stock), I think you will be fine for a while. Sparkplugs could possibly be replaced, but fluids can just be done following Toyota's recommended schedule.
      If you're in the DFW area, I would recommend @iautowork which I mention on this video.

    • @SicSemperBeats
      @SicSemperBeats 2 месяца назад

      You're overdoing it. You don't need spark plugs, unless you're tuning or currently misfiring.
      Why are you trying to change the trans fluid at 22k miles. Most shops aren't going to do that for you at your mileage. The ZF8 has a 50k-75k mile fluid interval. You don't want to change trans fluid for no reason, it has sediment and deposits that helps it shift. Same with diff fluid (come on dude lol)
      Follow the service intervals, instead of wasting your money.

      None, I do the maintenance myself or I take it to iAutowork for more complicated stuff and Applied Torque Solutions of trans maintenance.

    I think you could be way more concise. If you listen back to your video, you can probably cut a 30% of either obvious or repeated information.
    For example in the intro, you refer to last year's video at least 5 times. Not worth saying you are not going to tall about mods if you will end up talking about them anyway, etc. Sorry if it comes a cross as rude but I thought you might wanna hear it since I don't see it mentioned already

    • @VinceChristmastree
      @VinceChristmastree  Месяц назад

      I can compare it because that's what I was cross shopping this car with, everyone is entitled to their opinion lol
      No BS here, lots of other people who were in the same shoes as me have said the same. R35 is too dated and as badass as the C7Z is, the overall package in my opinion is inferior to the Supra. I'm not talking about just strictly performance. Interior quality and tech of the Supra is superior to the Corvette.
