It's amazing how such a complex drum pattern is going on over a basically 4/4 song... Extremely talented. It's the perfect example how an apparently simple timing could be used to make an incredibly complex track.
Who doesn't love this guy simply doesn't love drumming. We have the same age, and I'm a bit jelous and amazed how far you went. You're just the biggest inspiration in Prog nowadays. At 25 years you're renewing a genre. Baard, keep it up, MONSTER!
I feel like Malina is the album where Leprous really incorporated Baards incredible style into their music and Bonneville is the perfect example of that.
I love it when drummers do that; it forces them to open up to rhythmic complexities that otherwise might not have been explored, showing a whole other kind of skill.
I love how he can inject his personality and unique talent into his playing without overplaying and supporting the other musicians! This kid is mega talented!
There's so much to say about this. The drum recording sounds amazing. I could just get lost in that first groove, it's so sweet. Then the ensuing monster tom passage that would make even Phil Collins jealous. Such power. Your playing, dynamics and arrangements set the bar pretty fkn high. Inspiring artistry.
When I first listened to the album I couldn't help but being amazed by the drums in this song. Seeing the playthrough I must say: you've got monster drumming skills.
This song really puts on display why I love Leprous so much. They play their instruments in perfect synergy. The way that the bass guitar carries on the hit on the bass drum for example, it's just picture perfect. I'm sure other bands do this too, but none do it as well as Leprous *in my opinion*
I'd love to see playthroughs of From the Flame, Captive, Illuminate, Mirage, Coma, Weight of Disaster, and Root. I swear, every song on this album is so masterfully and tastefully played. Not to mention that Baard really displays true limb independence on this album especially. Masterpiece
Kolstad is by far one of the most creative drummers alive. There are several others with better technical skills, fancy rolls and long fillings.. but this guy right here uses tempo like a genius - and I love it
If anyone watched the drumeo episode with Gavin Harrison, where he said it's the drummers job to make the time interesting (as opposed to just keeping time) - this is what he means. Baard is beyond creative!
I was looking for this every day since Malina's out. Video well produced! Glad their is two more down the road. Would like if they are Coma and Mirage (Illuminate has incredible drumming too).
This song has a "building" structure like no other. Outstanding work of composition. It makes me shivers everytime.

3:38 has to be in the top 3 most epic Baard moments. Beautifully executed
I feel like Malina is the album where Leprous really incorporated Baards incredible style into their music and Bonneville is the perfect example of that.
My mind is blown, this guy is sick in his bones, he really is something else. Beyond genius. I desperately want to see playthrough for Illuminate!!!
YES!! This song is incredible!

I would love a Leprous/Karnivool world tour. Me and my wife would pack our bags and follow the tour from start to finish :)
couldn't agree more! what a dream would it be
Still waiting for Karnivool's new album.....
@@matthewcruz1709 I think we all are :)
@Jay M I suppose you would enjoy Agent Fresco as well then? Look them up if you haven't
@@SockerConny80 Amazing band!
Bonneville is a fucking masterpiece of a song. Thank you guys for writing such amazing stuff!
Loved how from 0:00 until 2:10 he stayed focused just in one section of the drums, I think that it is rare to see that.
that is how he builds the tension we all love :)
I guess you've never heard of ACDC

@@SammyMakepeace incredibly underrated comment
@@SammyMakepeace Phil has NOTHING on Baard. He's amazing for his era, but the era's changed.
Sick Baard! I wanna see every song from the album
Unreal composition.
This is one seriously talented drummer. I’m 63 and heard them all.
Creativeness that I don't find honestly in other drummers in the last 8 years. I'm glad that I could see Leprous live in Barcelona.
Baard Kolstad ROCKS. He is undoubtedly Norways finest export......!
My neighborhood now knows the sound of perfection! Thank you!
I love how he can inject his personality and unique talent into his playing without overplaying and supporting the other musicians! This kid is mega talented!
Breathtaking. Not enough drummers make enough use of the dynamic range of the kit.
Although norwegian, Baard built a strong and at the same time subtle latin/brazilian groove foundation. Great!

The opening groove for this track truly breaks my brain.
So I pretty much fell in love with this album 15 seconds into this song. Your drumming is just pure sexiness!!!!
One of the best / wonderful songs i 've heard in my life.Really.
Baard always keeps a sick rhythm. Even in the softer songs he's great. I'm looking forward to the rest of these play throughs.
Playing the bell on the hi-hat makes my inner fangirl all moist
Man, this man surly loves his hi hats more than anything!
Great drummer, great band…🥁🔥💣💥🤟🏻
When I first listened to the album I couldn't help but being amazed by the drums in this song. Seeing the playthrough I must say: you've got monster drumming skills.
Rare. Absolutely amazing man.
Really amazing technical drumming. Simple yet complex at the same time, marvelous!
Goosebumps! Amazing control and writing!
Amazing drum progression. It builds so beautifully. Pure greatness
Very impressive and creative as always. It would be great to see you again in Turkey... Please come to Turkey again...
again... again??? ne zaman geldiler türkiyeyee
One of the greatest drummers nowdays, if not the best.
Only 28years old … beast!!!
Wow, always so amazing to see him behind a kit....

4:07 Your only choke during the whole playthrough. Well done, discovered Leprous a month ago and I quickly got addicted.
I'd love to see playthroughs of From the Flame, Captive, Illuminate, Mirage, Coma, Weight of Disaster, and Root. I swear, every song on this album is so masterfully and tastefully played. Not to mention that Baard really displays true limb independence on this album especially. Masterpiece
Unbelievable performance as always! The percussion on this album really impressed me, would love to see more of these.
Keep up the good work! :)
Я уже где то говорил, Baard родился вместе с барабанами.
Пока ничего лучшего не видел, успехов, слушаем с удовольствием!
Wow. Such brilliance! Please… Alleviate with similar treatment… bass line and all… I love Iman!!! Who wouldn’t.
Baard Kolstad, слушаю Вас давно, Вы супер!!!
The drumpart is so strong without being dominant ! This brings drumming to a new level ...AMAZING
Every song is perfect. I’m confused lol, just found this band a few hours ago, I’m floored
...........what a music feeling....... big talent!!!
Classic Leprous.
The control... omfg, so, sooo flawless
What a wonderfully crafted song.
Wonderful - the whole band! - specially this young drumfreak.
Amazing. Perfect dynamics and groove!
This hit hard, thanks for uploading man. Can't get enough of Malina, you put on a fantastic performance!
I love Leprous. I love to see you play. And I want more !
You're awesome.
I admire people with natural talent (and years of hard work!) Well done.
Ok in 2021, but have to say what a beautiful sound. Gives a bit of a Genesis sound but with a raw edge. Real real good
Kolstad is by far one of the most creative drummers alive. There are several others with better technical skills, fancy rolls and long fillings.. but this guy right here uses tempo like a genius - and I love it
Ézer Chaves Baard is one of todays drummers with the best technical skills, fancy rools and long fillings, what are you talking about?
Great job drumming. Reminds me of Gavin Harrison, maybe he has been influenced by Gavin and Danny Carey.
Love Gavin Harrison but this guy takes drumming to another level.
@@kenjones6441 yeah, but so does Gavin.
Definitely some Gavin Harrison influence here. Baard has mentioned him before as an inspiration... I forget the specific interview but yeah
That's some sick drumming man. I follow you since you were a kid doing seventh wonder covers and you've come such a long way.
We need more! This is absolutely flawless!
Super smooth and classy drumming...
This is sick! Miraaaaaaaaageee next pls.
Awesome
YES SIR! One of the best drum parts I've have heard in a while

Wow! Incredible songwriting and amazing performance! I am glad I am not the only one looking like a lunatic while playing though!
My god that was sooooo good
Insane work, seems incredibly hard !

Jeg har ventet på dette i så lang tid. Det er så bra at se dig spille hele sange i gennem. Tusind tak, Baard.
