The touch, the time, the feel, musicality, technique, intensity, creativity, tuning, sound, the stamina - it all makes this almost unreal. Baard, you really make these songs fly! It was a pleasure to watch your gig in Nosturi, Helsinki. Thank you!
It's so impressive how he plays broken cymbals, Pearl drums (which there's a lot of people that says it sucks), but the drum sound on the album is one of the best drum sounds ever recorded. Great personality as a drummer!
Fernando Ribeiro Who the hell says Pearl sucks? They're like the number one selling brand out there. They're basically the coke of drums everyone knows them, lol. Talking to some metal-hipsters I see haha.
This song is so amazing!!!! I love how epic it is....your drumming is simply perfect for the arrangement. For me,its a great mix of 80s vocal with modern prog rock, pop and metal combined...exquisite!!!! Well done to ALL of you!!!! Keep up the great work!
Såg er i Malmö 4/3 2017 och blev så sjukt imponerad av ditt trumspel! Hade hört er innan på skiva men live var helt galet bra! Unik och riktigt grym trumstil! Snyggt!
djg Ya, that's just an excuse we drummers like to give when we can't afford new ones. They only sound good through mixing. Broken cymbals are never chosen over newer ones if one has the means to buy them.
@@emilelocas5496 Then they're dumb asses that broke a perfectly fine piece of equipment, and should have just shopped around and found the sound they wanted. Also, it's cymbal not symbol. Do you make a habit of just hanging out in studios btw?
After 2 leprous concert...and not having seen this song at least one time...i'm here... I hope in the future the band will meet the metal sound again, the last concert was really sad for me...:(
I'm a drummer.....kind of. This guy must have put some very serious hours of practice in to be this good. But you can't forget the obvious natural talent. Baard you are the drummer i wanted to be.....only better!
kingontopbob Well I'm exactly the same, I acknowledge that he's a good musician in his own right, but I just don't dig Devin Townsend. I guess it depends on how much you like Leprous/Tesseract
I actually went just to see Leprous. I didn't even realise until the day before that they were a supporting act (seen them in London before as headliners). I listened to a bit of Tesseract before, but never Devin Townsend. After the first two DT songs, I was thinking 'da fuck is this shit?' But I gave it a chance and soon enough my mind was blown. They were playing Ocean Machine in entirety. Afterwards, I listened to the album so many times! In any case, best show ever for me. All three bands were incredible. Such great use of lighting as well!
Gosh, so hard to follow what you're doing! and well of course the camera guy doesn't help :-/ anyway as usual: big WOW!.. at least finally I can see (and try to understand) how in hell you play that! :P Still would love to see a playthrough of Panorama (Borknagar) :P
sounds like a sabian paragon and if it isnt then try that one i bet you will fall in love. no gongyness but still maintains moderate sustain (ESP at low volumes) and reacts really well at low volume playing compared to almost any other china (i used it as a ride when i covered windowpane by opeth just during the reallly quiet guitar solo section) edit: he plays sabian so that is def a paragon. different sizes are difficult to find, my experience is that 19 is the most common but Ive seen 20 and riveted versions. sounds great tho
You know those track you start learning and then 3 minutes in comes a part you just can't master? This is not one of those. The make or break point comes at 0:00 here. I mean I bet most of you can play it. You think. Until you record it and listen back.
IT MAKES NO SINCE TO ME...THIS DUDE IS AS GOOD OR BETTER THAN ANY OF THE FAMOUS DRUMMERS IN THE WORLD ...YET HE IS BASICALLY A NO NAME . MAYBE HES MAKING ALOT OF MONEY BUT I BET HE DONT MAKE A QUARTER OF WHAT NIEL PERT DUSTY HILL JON BONHAM OR ANY OF THEM GUYS MAKE
I'm not even a drummer and I love these things.
Holy mother of god, you're a fucking amazing drummer.
The touch, the time, the feel, musicality, technique, intensity, creativity, tuning, sound, the stamina - it all makes this almost unreal. Baard, you really make these songs fly! It was a pleasure to watch your gig in Nosturi, Helsinki. Thank you!
1:30 - 1:52 is soooo awesome! Wish that would have made the album!
It's so impressive how he plays broken cymbals, Pearl drums (which there's a lot of people that says it sucks), but the drum sound on the album is one of the best drum sounds ever recorded. Great personality as a drummer!

Thanks man! Maaaybe we will come to USA during 2016 :)

What an absolute monster, so glad i've stumbled across this band. Overnight become one of my favourite drummers!
Not only does he radiate pure talent, he looks like he's having so much fun doing it
I was gonna ask if this was the first take and saw the finger and loved so much how organic these playthroughs are !!
He became the drumkit

He is as intense as Leprous's own sound. Great drummer, amazing energy.

Kaze_Senshi haha its so funny!
This guy is just using his ride as a crash lol
@@deanrimlinger445 That's very common take it you're not a drummer, lol.
BurnThePope I am a begginer but I watch a loooooot of video and don't see this commonly

for me...the best drummer in the world. amazing!! fuckking boss!! fucking master!! insane
Just get him a cymbal endorser already!
He's said before that he likes how the broken ones sound.
He is endorsed by sabian
djg Ya, that's just an excuse we drummers like to give when we can't afford new ones. They only sound good through mixing. Broken cymbals are never chosen over newer ones if one has the means to buy them.
@@BurnTheNuance thats false, Ive seen people break their symbal to get a certain sound in the studio

The vocals reminds me alot of Arnór's vocals from Agent Fresco! I like it!
The best drummer in the world!
amazing
Very nice Baard!!! :) +Baard Kolstad
Sounds like queens of the stone age. It's awesome regardless.
After 2 leprous concert...and not having seen this song at least one time...i'm here...

Lovely

Jesus. This is tops emotional music.
Excellent, can't wait to see you again live :)
MUy Bueno ..excelente Drummer!
Love these vids man!
Hero!
Goddamn! This is some amazing drumming. I wonder how many drum heads/cymbals/sticks he’s destroyed, he plays with such raw power!
Video cuts and 50fps look suuuuper weird, but playing is awesome as usual!
intense!
Are there any drumless tracks available??
This guy makes me want to play.
#drummingbrotherhood
Baard is fucking unreal. Saw Leprous last year he stole the show.
Man... This is not a playthrough, this is a strugglethrough!
this is amazing :D im proud being norwegian as he's also from Norway :D
AMAZING BAND
I like you. You play really super.
I'm a drummer.....kind of. This guy must have put some very serious hours of practice in to be this good. But you can't forget the obvious natural talent. Baard you are the drummer i wanted to be.....only better!

ill clinton They're supporting Devin Townsend in March in Glasgow
kingontopbob Yeah, im gonna be there thanks, how about you?
ill clinton Dunno yet, I like Tesseract and love Leprous but can't get in to Devin Townsend

Ok, tell us the truth... you are a cyborg right?
Awesome drumming, but if there is something I hate in drum videos it is the unnecessary moving camera guy
This guy reminds me of Darren King, plays with the same kind of intensity, all he needs to do now is tape headphones to his head lol
3:30 for epic 7/4 grooves
Gosh, so hard to follow what you're doing! and well of course the camera guy doesn't help :-/ anyway as usual: big WOW!.. at least finally I can see (and try to understand) how in hell you play that! :P Still would love to see a playthrough of Panorama (Borknagar) :P

Is this sped up?
No, its in 50fps wich makes it look smoother as it is 26 more pictures (frames) per second than "normal"!
Am I the only who doesn't hear the bassdrum?
Really? I can even hear the bass drum through my phone's speakers lol
antiago1983 It's eq'd so that it mixes well with the guitar and bass parts.
You know those track you start learning and then 3 minutes in comes a part you just can't master? This is not one of those. The make or break point comes at 0:00 here. I mean I bet most of you can play it. You think. Until you record it and listen back.
this guy never tightens his stands well lol
fucking 50fps. and that cameraguy. also, can´t hear bassdrum
That's probably your speakers. I can hear it just fine.
I hear it on my phone.
Det er bare du som har helt fucka utstyr:)
You're a demigod...
he cant afford cymbals? :D poor drummers....
