      in all fairness, I wasn't sure he owned shirts. Simen wears clothes on stage and in his playthroughs, so we have at minimum least anecdotal evidence of outerwear. Would very much enjoy seeing more studio scenes and some performances from Einar like Dan Tompkins demonstrating massive prowess, directly.

      He's like a young Gavin Harrison during Porcupine Tree's earlier days; at least that's what I see. As an obssessed percussionist, I would definitely wager that Baard greatly respects Gavin and has been influence by him. What makes them so similar is that their ACTUAL versatility, which is a word being thrown around too lightly. Gavin Harrison, for example, can play a metal song like Futile or What Happens Now and then turn around and play complex jazz fusion. He fused techniques and styles to create his own sound, and his drums are always impreccibly tuned. Now, if Gavin hasn't already seen this, I hope he does one day, because it's one of the best playthrough performances on youTube (THE best without that damn china miss). Think of it this way: They're both incredibly musical in how they play, and they can adapt to anything. Gavin and Baard are finesse drummers, and they're also power drummers. And they've both done, and are doing, things with a drumset that is totally unique to them.

    • @packgrog
      @packgrog 2 года назад +2

      @@adamkoyn792 Funny you mention that, as I consider both Gavin and Baard among my favorite drummers due to their ability to play powerfully, with complexity, AND with emotion. One of Neil Peart's few downsides is how sterile he could sound at times. Not this guy. Astounding.

      Man they really caught you with the studio Magic didn’t they? “Raw and unedited”
      It’s a professionally shot and recorded video of him playing a track. The closet thing I think people would get to seeing a drum video that is completely void of any form of audio mixing, or editing; would be a single shot view of a person recording their part. I could totally see some other options though.
      He still rips! Having your sound mixed and such doesn’t take away from your drumming as long as you back it up lol. He surely does.
