    my friend's dad has a 2010 6.4 with 330,000 on it. He deleted the DPF years ago, when the high pressure fuel pump failed several years ago he added Sinister EGR coolers while the cab was off the frame, no issues since.

    I’ve had my 08 6.4 King Ranch since 2010. Bought it off my father in law who had the DPF delete on it basically the day after he bought it. It’s been programmed with a SCT programmer for economy and I’m about to turn 170k on it. The only issues I’ve had were the EGR valve and two belt pulleys. Maintenance regularly and I throw some SeaFoam in her every 6 months or so. She might die soon or she might not but all I know is that the DPF and shitty maintenance is a major cause of these engines dying on owners. And great video 👍

    • @LSRWvlog
      @LSRWvlog  4 года назад

      That’s awesome, you made it pass the 150k mark haha. But the dpf and poor maintenance is the main killer for these engines

    • @americanenclosures

      How much does a dpf delete run?

    • @LSRWvlog
      @LSRWvlog  2 года назад +1

      Depends on parts you can find but anywhere from $1,000 to $2,000 that's you doing the labor. The minimum you will need is a turner and a DPF delete pipe.

  • @richardjeun
    @richardjeun 11 месяцев назад +2

    I did everything to my truck you mentioned, except I did not delete anything since I live in California. Every 30-40 thousand miles, I get my DPF baked and cleaned. I also get all three EGT sensors replaced each time I get my DPF cleaned. It’s also very important to run Archoil fuel and oil treatment for many reasons. Also, cetane is not regulated for diesel fuels in the US so it’s important to add cetane booster to your fuel, every time you fill up. Modifications and aftermarket parts can damage your truck since you will change the engineering parameters, but I did had to replace my EGR coolers to Bulletproof brand coolers when the stock ones failed. Finally, the last thing I would like to add to your recipe is a water misting system. I came up with an idea, after learning about an old military technology, of incorporating a RV water pump and a 5 gallon water bucket in my trunk, with a switch to control it from the cab, and ran a 1/4” irrigation line to my engine bay. This line would distribute pressured water to multiple water mist fittings (purchased at Home Depot) to ALL my heat exchangers, on demand, when climbing a hill, when regenerating, and when towing in extreme conditions and/or weather conditions. My ultimate plan is to sell my truck whenever I don’t need it anymore or make this thing last as long as possible while I own it. If I were you, I would change your oil every 5k miles and purchase the engine oil cooler by Bulletproof Diesel. I think they call it a Half Cooler. Any other ideas or comment?

    • @LSRWvlog
      @LSRWvlog  11 месяцев назад +1

      No that's is a good list. The water spray system is interesting idea. How well does it work for you?

    • @richardjeun
      @richardjeun 11 месяцев назад +2

      I decided to try it because I had a spare water pump lying around. This concept is used on the condenser of residential air conditioner units to save electricity. It works, but I don’t know how much of an impact it makes because I don’t have temperature monitor sensors, but I do know that these trucks suffer a lot from heat. My water tank for this system is just a 5 gallon bucket with a lid, a hose barb fitting at the bottom of the bucket; it will last me enough water for one regen. I thought about branching off to a misting nozzle for my turbo, but I don’t think that’s a good idea because the sudden temperature drop can crack metal. Make sure you buy any aftermarket cab isolators and replace the original, factory isolators because they don’t last; they’re too soft. Pretty sure they absorb well, but don’t last. I’ve seen videos when they tried lifting one side of the truck wheel with a forklift, and it puts a twist on the front end, enough to twist/compress the radiator.
      I’m all for creating a clever way to make these trucks last, without changing the original design. These 6.4L trucks generate a lot of heat. Heat is the #1 killer of many components. When you hear your fan kick in, it’s wise to slow down, roll down your windows, turn the cab heater to full blast, turn your misting system on, and pray to God. Ill do whatever it takes because I now see how expensive the repair bills can get for these trucks.
      Before fueling, make cocktails ahead of time. For me, I purchase cetane booster, by the gallon, at ford dealership. I also buy the largest bottle of Archoil fuel additive. My third ingredient is Lucas fuel treatment. I use empty 16 ounce bottles with graduated lines on them (original small cetane booster bottles from the dealer) to fill 15 ml of Archoil, 12 ounces of cetane booster, and then fill the rest up with Lucas. I am using Lucas as the carrier to my other ingredients; just like drinking water to wash down NyQuil. There is a RUclips video about Archoil hosted by Jay Leno. Watch that one because they talk about all the great benefits of Archoil. The key to make these trucks last is providing lubricity, efficient combustion, and heat management.

      If you're misting with distilled water then yes absolutely. Water absorbs so much heat when it evaporates, I even set a sprinkler on my roof in the summer time.
      The issue you WILL run into if you're not using distilled, is calcium buildup. It will fill clog your radiator fins.

    I’ve got a 09 CC 4x4 King ranch. 201,xxx on the original engine. DPF, EGR and EGR coolers deleted at 94000. Spartan tuner, now patriot tuners. 4” turbo back exhaust with stock can and tips. AFE intake. Never went above the 150HP tune. Only issue I had was the transmission went at 194,000 and a shitty up pipe cracked. Relocated and tapped block off plate for EBP sensor. Alternator went at 192000. Replaced tensioners and belts every 100K. Also replace body mount bushings and lift pump at 190,000, it didn’t fail just put a new one in. Runs great with no blow by. Going to check rockers soon. Better safe than sorry. Oil always changed at 5k and both fuel filters at 10k. I love the truck and don’t plan on getting anything different. It gave me as many issues as my 99.5 7.3L. I should have never sold the 7.3L w/ 140k. Don’t be afraid of the 6.4l. Good trucks if maintained and deleted.

    Just like to say the piston rings in 7&8 are fitted a little loose as well to accommodate the high heat for expansion this is a nother reason that the 6.4 powerstrock has excessive blowby that goes directly through your turbocharger. You you know those highly machined instruments that spin at what 60K or so think of how balance is crucial in there performance and longevity. I have installed a catch can system with baffling, must use 1"tube no kinks I vent to atmosphere with a filtered breather like the veh of 50's and 60's there doesn't seem to be any oil drippings but I can fill up a wisky shot glass of drippings every 5K Serviceing these servings are a must if you want to assure any kind of long life. The next week spot is the rocker arm assembly it just breaks down the plastic parts and wears out the moving parts as there doesn't seem to be enough oil getting in there. But I would have thought someone would have come up with a better after market rocker arm assembly by now. Bill Hewitt rest his sole swore by Arch Oil additives for fuel and oil. But I love my 6.4 Powerstroke. This video has been around for sometime now. Now is Dec.23/2023. My truck has 140K miles on her runs like a fraight train. Stay safe out there.
