One of mine was on the recall list. I called Taurus directly. I was on the phone for less than 20 minutes and received my return label by email while still on the phone. I shipped it out that day and had it back in my hands in 21 days. Zero issues with mine before or after.

Thank you for the information. My GX4 toro is part of the safety recall. I had sent it back just after I got it for the slide problem. They repaired and returned it quickly. My opinion is that this is my keeper for my carry weapon. Perfect size, grip, weight, and trigger. Added Night Fision sights (glock 43x) and a Holosun 507k x2. I'm an old US Marine and my ability to manage recoil is showing so I use a 153 grain FMJ subsonic round (875fps). Groups with iron or red dot at 35ft are 9 of 10 within a 3" diameter target. Again Thank You. God Bless America!

My neighbor sent his recalled GX4. When he got it back, the pistol has the dead trigger problem and this was not present before the pistol went back to Taurus. We are able to reproduce the dead trigger (in safe environment) and we confirmed that the striker is in cocked position. When we tried to work the slide (slowly), the striker was released without the trigger being pulled. The striker did not go all the way forward since the striker blocker was still in place. I have 2 GX4 that are not affected by the recall, and the same neighbor has another that is also not affected by the recall. We never had dead trigger problem with 3 of our older GX4s. We also noticed that the recalled gun exhibits a weaker firing pin strike (tested using a pencil) compared to the 3 older GX4s.

Thanks, My GX4XL was not on the recall list.. It was hard enough for me finding this pistol over a year and a half ago to have to send it back for the fix.

Great video, I will not be sending mine in I’ve heard guys saying they have had issues with the gx4 after getting it back, a quick test I did on mine is take the slide off push the striker pin forward if it breaches the pin hole then it’s not drop safe that pin should only move forward when the firing pin block is pressed down.

Sent my in just about two weeks ago and I already got it back. So it literally took them 2 weeks from time of shipping repair and return shipping. Mine was in the recall and never had any issue with it. So I actually wasn't going to send it in. But after a range session I had one dead trigger issue, and my trigger safety Spring just quit on me. So the trigger safety no longer worked. When I got it back. Everything seemed to be repaired correctly triggers working properly again and I have no idea what they did for the recall. I even called up to speak to a representative because the return paperwork said nothing really. The repair comment section was blank, no information about the repair work. It only stated that my Taurus pistol was repaired under the factory lifetime warranty was 100% functional and that it was test-fired with 26 rounds of Winchester, 115 grain round nose ammunition. The telephone rep was very evasive. I asked her to check the notes and she just said that the entire trigger assembly was replaced. And that's all the notes said. And that's all basically she was able to.. I asked her what exactly was the issue with the recall. And she came out and told me she's not allowed to say. That's probably why nothing was written in the comment section of the repair order. Trying to dodge the liability bullet. In a roundabout way, she did indicate to me that it was quite possibly. The trigger unit that was part of the recall. And it was just a coincidence that my trigger safety stop working. So that is replaced the whole trigger unit. The mystery continues 😁.

Mine was on the list and I just sent it in yesterday. I did have some failure to get into battery with FMJ when I first got it but it cleared up after getting through the first 100 rounds.

I sent mine in, and when I got it back my rear sight was cocked. The right side (as you aim it), was higher than the left side. I don't think I got the same slide on my gun when I got it back. I ordered a new sight and will change it out and see if that makes a difference.

I wonder if they needed to take the sights out for the fix for some reason. We'll see if I get my same slide back. thanks for watching!

I bought 2 of these late last year because they were HIGHLY liked in RUclips videos and also dirt cheap and had a killer rebate. Bought one for me and one for my girl. Did the recall thing and make NO mistake- Taurus REFUSES to refer to it as a "recall"! It is a "Safety Notice". Whatever lets you sleep better at night Taurus! FINALLY got to shoot them for the first time a couple days ago. I also put the green Viridian laser on mine because it was also very cheap- the girlfriend didn't want one. G/F's gun started messing up first. It would FIRE, EJECT, but not close completely with the next round. The round would feed but the slide got stuck maybe 2mm before fully closed. She was MAD!!! I continued to dial the laser in and finally noticed that my front sight was missing- THIS is a defect that I have heard about. Then MY slide decided to not fully close with a new round. I'm not happy right now!

NOTE: My GX4 is not part of the recall.
I bought my GX4 for my NEW EDC in June 2021 and have had 0, No, issues to this date and have run over 2900 rounds.
Wasn't looking for a firearm that was Optics ready or had a 'rail'.
I wanted a small 9mm that would be the best for self defense, concealment, yet have quality and be dependable. I wasn't going to be in any shooting competition with the GX4 as I have other firearms for that.
Purchased the GX4 at my local Scheels and got the last one in stock at that time - 329.00.
Received the pinky extensions (2) for the two 11 rd mags that were included and that completed the grip for me....good to go with my pinky on board.
Of course my 13 rd mag comes with the extension.
That's all I needed to do to get the GX4 the way I wanted it on my hip...or wherever I carry it.
Recently upgraded to the Tru-Glow sights which is a great add-on over the factory sights.
Also have now a Viridian Red Laser which was an easy mount not having a rail.
Added this weekend the Hogue HandALL Beavertail Grip Sleeve specifically for the GX4 and GX4XL.
Do some have issues, sure they do. Did some Shield Plus have issues? Did the Sig P365 have any issues? Did the Glock 42 or 43 have issues? It’s a big yes to all.

@@larrygarot8909 Good point. I hope that I only ever have to use mine during range shooting. What kinda sucks about the Viridian laser (as you probably already figured out) is that the W and E adjustments are VERY tight. A one degree movement with the tool moves the beam about 2 inches.

I got my GX four from buds gun shop, and when I received the pistol, the front sight had fallen off and when I tried to rock the slide, it would not lock back so I called buds gun shop and they were not very helpful but when I called Taurus they seem to have a better attitude and were helpful so I sent it back and received it after maybe a month and a half and went out to fire it and I did not like it. It was way too snappy. I have a Smith and Wesson shield 45 that shot a lot better than this thing that I really wanted to like it but I did and then the recall popped up so I sent it back again and it took about a month to get it back and when I did get it back the rear sights were drifted way off to the right with it sticking partially off the side of the slide. So I was gonna trade it for something else but decided to shoot it again. It shot much better. I don’t know if they changed out a spring or something but it felt better in my hand this time so I decided to keep it but I am still concerned if it is reliable, I have put about 100 rounds through it so far with no issues and I’m thinking about putting a red dot on it because it is a Toro, but to make it my EDC I am a little concerned that it might fail with all the bad stories I’m hearing, but it seems like some people are getting good pistols and some are getting lemons. Hopefully Taurus will help them through this. It kind of reminds me of Hyundai when they first came out the cars were terrible, but they have really cleaned up their quality control. Good luck to all you GX four owners.

Don't trust it brother. Trade it in throw in some cash and get a Glock, S&W, Springfield, Sig or CZ. With Taurus everyone is wondering if they got a "good one". With the companies I mentioned you can trust your life with them to run when you need it.

Taurus' are good guns but their customer service sucks!! If u ever have to send a gun back plug your nose and say a prayer, either u won't get your gun back or it'll come back with other issue's caused by their so called genius gunsmiths that work at the factory. That's why I only buy Taurus revolvers, because if there is an issue I can take it to a gunsmith or fix it myself because revolver parts are easy to come by . When it comes to semi auto's regardless if its Taurus or another brand they have recalls alot of the time and then u have to send the gun back and if its a company like Taurus with the play at your own risk customer service good luck getting your gun back, and if u do pray they didn't mess it up even more. Just read alot of the comments on this video and see what people are going through, and I've heard this from many others as well. Good luck getting your gun back and I pray they correct the issue and they don't mess anything else up on your gun. And if u have time please get back to me and let me know how it went?? Thanks

TAURUS BUYERS BEWARE: I purchased a new Taurus GX4 that was to come with a $50.00 rebate. After four months I have nothing. In a recent phone call to Taurus, I was told I would have to contact a third party and was given three phone numbers to call. I didn’t purchase the firearm from a third party.!

In my humble opinion, buy the G3C. I own both and my GX4 is total junk. Been sent back to the factory twice and still have slide issues. It's an unsafe firearm, in my opinion. Several hundred rounds thru the G3C with no issues at all.
