    I still have an opinion on Seafoam. My grandma recently passed away. I got her car, a '91 Taurus. It ran real sluggish, she would only drive it to town about 5 miles away at 40-50 mph, couple times a week for groceries & church. I filled it up poured a can of seafoam drove it home, approx 430 miles home at 70 mph. It runs like scaled ape now. Btw she kept VERY meticulous maint & records. Probably one of the best running 24 yr old cars on the road

      I'm close to being a Canadian. Niagara Falls, but on the south side, not the north. but really, canadians are generally very nice people, I went to school in Toronto donkey ages ago. Then I went to school at the University of Illinois, where people were much less friendly, especially the professors who tended to be snobs for no good reason. Heck, Eintstein was no snob and he had reasons to be. Those clowns just thought they were big cheeses when in reality they were blown up high school teachers with an attitude. that pretty much turned me off of becoming one and I went back to machines which made more sense to me. Machines act logically.

      And hey I have a problem on my car I can't explain myself. I have a car form the 90s which has an old OHV engine which dates back to 1955 so far so good, the valve cover gasket was leaking oil so I changed it, because it was too much for a sealer, all is bone dry know, only the connection to the transmission is a bit wet, but now I have another problem, it started smoking blue smoke when starting it up from cold, after I changed the gasket, it runs normal and starts better than ever, only max speed is slightly lower now. Haven't done a compression test yet, but where's the connection between both of those things, as it started smoking blue as I changed the gasket

    Since no fuel washes over the valves in a DI engine, doubt this would help de-carbon the intake valves on said engine. But it might be good for the injectors and combustion chamber. Probably works better with port injected motors overall.

    Scotty, I have a '02 Jetta 2.0 that was sluggish. I was always a firm believer in Seafoam until I watched this video. So, I bought 2 cans of Gumout 1 for the Jetta and 1 for my '97 Ram and filled the Jetta with BP Gas and the Ram with Hess Gas being it runs better with it. Wow, I'm impressed with the results! A week later the Jetta drive like it just came off the showroom floor and the 318 Ram found some horses it hasn't seen since the early 2000's. I just want to thank you for all the informative, interesting, and money saving advice you give.

      Get a clue....the only reason they ruined wildlife was because the guvment made them drill in deep water instead of 300 feet where it was much safer. And as for the cheap BP gas....here in Florida anyway it does not have ethanol. Boater's Choice.

    1. I used Gumout and it worked. 2. Being an old guy (used to in-line - not in the gas tank fuel filters), I ordered a Toyota fuel filter for my 2004 Avalon a couple of years ago. It came, and I put it aside. Last week, I decided to do the online research and found that in the manual, it was supposed in the gas tank. However, it wasn't. In fact, I took the car to my regular mechanic, we examined the part and the car, it was inline. 3. Couple of thoughts. When I finally had the 90,000 mile overhaul done, we went beyond the recommended, replacing the spark plugs (keeping the good ones) and the fuel injectors because one had gone bad (keeping the good ones). My kid's Avalon had 250,000 miles on it when he gave it up last month rather than register it for another year.

    That second picture is a brand new piston. No car on the road today has pistons that clean.
    Scotty how much did you get from gumout ?

  • @NotSoCrazyNinja
    @NotSoCrazyNinja 6 лет назад +1

    That Gumout stuff (with the PEA) actually works. I've run it through two different modern cars. One car I ran it through two tanks of fuel and the other through three tanks of fuel. I can tell a difference in idling, acceleration, and power. It seems to clean things up. After three tanks on my current daily driver, the engine is running better than when I first got the car a few years back. On the other car, after just one tank, the idle became a lot smoother. I like the stuff so much I will continue using it unless I find a legitimate reason to stop using it. It costs about $10 where I live and one can does two tanks, so $5 extra dollars a month (about how long it takes me to run through a ten gallon tank) is well worth it for the better performance.

      xi yuan Zhang cleaning the fuel system and injectors is 99% of the the battle. If not the engine just gets dirty again. Most regular grade gas is good for about 10 days. if you don't empty the tank once a week that's when you may need additional cleaners.

    I have a 1999 Ford F150 with 215,000 miles on it. I've owned it since 130,000. I've noticed declining gas mileage and uneven acceleration over the past few thousand miles. I never believed in additives as no mechanics I know believe in them either. Something had to be done though, as the decline was very real. I tried a couple bottles of Chevron Techron with no noticeable results. I decided to give Scotty's advice a try after watching this. I used Gumout All-in-one 10 oz because it treats up to 35 gallons, so one bottle would do it for me. The first bottle gave me an extra 40 miles out of my tank of fuel. As for the uneven acceleration I thought it might be time for plugs. I decided to use the product shown in this video and used it with the vacuum hose induction method, hot soak, etc. The product shown in this video used the way I described made my acceleration even and consistent again. Scotty's on to something here, I was unaware of PEA before watching this video. Great advice, Scotty Kilmer. Thanks.

    I haven't seen or read anything about that BG44K cleaner. It's rather expensive on Ebay.... about twice as expensive as Chevron Techron. It's not in my local Advance Auto parts stores. A bus mechanic friend of mine says it's the best fuel system cleaner there is.

    • @Parknest
      @Parknest 6 лет назад

      Your bus mechanic friend is right. It is good stuff. I used it in one of my previous cars. My current car is a diesel MPV (minivan) and I use the BG244 which is the diesel version of BG44K. It is worth every penny. It will restore lost power, reduce emissions and improve fuel economy. You can only use BG44K in petrol (gas) engines.

    i used Seafoam in my crankcase when my car had a rough idle. this yielded very good results. i had to do this about every other oil change. my downfall was the type of oil i was using (Pennzoil Full Synthetic) but i've switched since then and had very few buildups that needed it in the crankcase since.
    if you have an older car that has not been properly maintained, i do not suggest using Seafoam in the crankcase or even in the gas tank for that matter since it can cause a lot of problems.
